201  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Nano Ledger S support Electron Cash? on: August 20, 2017, 03:39:43 PM
Hey everyone, would love some help sifting through all the noise and understanding how I can most securely claim BCC. I currently store my bitcoin in Electrum and I've read up on using Electron Cash to claim BCC. I'm also expecting my ledger nano s to arrive in a few weeks so ultimately I'd like all of my crypt to be stored there. Few questions:

1. Is it true that Electron Cash has security issues or are we past that because replay functionality has been enabled on the BCC chain? I think it's a smart idea regardless to transfer BTC to a new seed and then transferring to a BCC wallet from that new seed, but besides this security precaution are there other recommended measures?

2. Does Ledger Nano S support Electron Cash? If so, do I need to claim my BTC first in Electron Cash or is there a process to claim it directly in the Ledger Nano via Electrum?

3. I'd like to purchase more bitcoin soon. Is there any reason I should wait to buy more BTC until I have claimed BCC first? I could be way overthinking this, but better safe than sorry, right?!

Thanks so much in advance!

1. I don't believe Electron Cash has any known security issues, it is just precautions that should be taken with any new software like this. It is definitely recommend to transfer current BTC to a new seed before using a BCC wallet with the old seed. You may also wish to run the software on an isolated machine or VM as a precaution.

2. Yes, I believe you can use the Ledger Nano S with Electron Cash but not 100% on that. The Ledger Nano S also has native support for BCC as shown:
http://support.ledgerwallet.com/knowledge_base/topics/bitcoin-cash

3. There is really no reason to wait. They are separate chains so no issues there. For ease of use, you may want to put any newly bought coin in a new wallet if you plan to import your old wallet.
202  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet Worries on: August 17, 2017, 03:09:28 PM
You are much more likely to download fake software than ever have the official Electrum client have malware.

If you are storing a large amount of coins, I strongly recommend that you use a hardware wallet in combination with Electrum. Using a device like the Trezor or Ledger Nano S will safeguard your seed and private keys on the device so that Electrum wouldn't even have access directly.
203  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Trezor: Seed, import addresses on: August 17, 2017, 03:06:13 PM
1. Can I also make a user defined seed of 24 words when I use Electrum together with Trezor?

2. Can I also make a wallet with some specific addresses/private keys when I use Electrum together with Trezor. (I mean a wallet with imported addresses/private keys.)

No, I don't believe that you can do either of these.

1. If you are using the Trezor with Electrum, you will be using the seed on the Trezor device so you wouldn't be able to specify a custom one.
2. You can only have a wallet using a seed or a wallet using imported addresses. You cannot have both at the same time. You will need to create separate wallets for this.
204  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Speed of confirmation with electrum portable on: August 17, 2017, 03:03:15 PM
Hi,I see option in electrum portable very low fee when send transactions - will confirm in 6 blocks, and high fee - within 1 block. On real time what timeframes will it be?

Blocks occur on average every 10 minutes. However, there are many times where it can take longer for a block to be found.

I'd recommend using a higher fee if you need quick confirmation. I tend to normally use one to the left of the far right on the slider. If you are really in a crunch, you can use the slider on the far right.

I've been wary of this site ever since the beginning when they altered promotions while they were active and ended contests early.

Deliberately cheating visitors in this manner is really bad though. If it was done once, it will likely be done in the future in other circumstances where the house is losing. Definitely best to stay away in my opinion.

Is there a minimum amount of pre-sale investment in Bitdice?
Sorry if i ask that here, because I saw on the pre-sale bitdice website received some altcoin

The main ANN for the ICO is probably the better place to ask questions like this and it can be found here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2047543.0

The minimum amounts of investments should be listed on the ICO account page where you would deposit.

They are currently the following:
0.01 BTC
5000 DOGE
0.2 LTC
0.03 ETH

What date is the first expected dividend?

The first dividends will be at the end of Quarter 4 so you should be receiving them around the end of the year or beginning of 2018 for the first payment.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Newbie Mining on: August 13, 2017, 11:39:22 PM
So I got myself an antminer d3 coming in november, it is my first time mining I was wondering if there was a tutorial anyone can show me to set it up?

Here is a site with some videos on setting up previous versions of the Antminer that you may find useful:
https://www.bitcoinmining.com/how-to-setup-bitcoin-mining-hardware-bitmain-antminer/

Also there is a S9 setup thread here on Bitcointalk which is probably fairly similar to the D3:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1526215

At any rate, the Hardware Mining subsection of the forums will likely be the best place to start looking which can be found here:

What I like most about this site is the mine game.

Shows how greedy a man can be. Lol

Yeah, with the games like the mine game it is hard to know when to stop. You keep wanting to pushing farther in hopes of more profit but that usually results in busting haha.

The site is looking pretty nice so far and already has quite the number of games on it.

Furthermore, you can verify the correct GitHub page by clicking the Explore Source Code button at the bottom of the https://electroncash.org/ page.

I did a brief review of the fake GitHub listed by the OP and didn't find anything obviously malicious at first glance, looks like all periods were converted to commas for some strange reason. The code likely wouldn't even compile correctly, but should be avoided nonetheless.

The official source code for ElectronCash is located at https://github.com/fyookball/electrum as indicated by ElectronCash's website.

The links that you are spreading are the fake ones.

IN OTHER WORDS i CANT USE MY OLD ELECTRUM WALLET ,I HAVE TO SEND ALL MY BITCOINS ON LEDGER NANO WALLET AND AFTER THAT TO CREATE NEW ELECTRUM WALLET USING LEDGER NANO SEED?SHOULD I CREATE NEW ELECTRUM WALLET ON ANOTHER COMP.  NOT ON THE ONE I HAD BEFORE?

You can have multiple Electrum wallets on the same PC so there is no issue with that. You can even have multiple wallets open at the same time.

You just need to create a new Electrum wallet with the Ledger Nano and select hardware wallet option during the creation as shown below:

Once that wallet is created, you can send the BTC from your other wallets to the new wallets.

Yeah, please share the transaction ID which will allow us to provide more information on why it is still unconfirmed. Depending on the exact fee used, there may be some methods that can be used to speed up the confirmation such as using ViaBTC's accelerator.

you should pay attention to the wallet balance not the balance of individual addresses. the wallet balance is displayed in the bottom left of the electrum window.

what you are seeing here is change being sent to change addresses in your wallet. you can confirm that these addresses belong to your wallet by looking at the transaction details. Change addresses are highlighted in yellow while other addresses belonging to your wallet are in green.

More about change:

Yep, this! Nothing about this looks suspicious to me. Looks simply like change addresses.

Those addresses should be listed under the Address window along with their respective balance. You can also confirm that those addresses belong to you via the console using the ismine("ADDRESS") command.

Hi, is there any hard cap to reach and stop the ICO before 15th September? Or no matter how much is achieved, you will end on that date?

I will refer you to whitepaper for more details about ICO structure how it will work. There is no hard cap for this corwdsale it will continue till September 15, 2017 and token price will be calculated on invested amount.

CSNO price = Proceeds from ICO (in USD) / 100,000,000 tokens

Devs, can you please answer my questions?  Smiley

Is this information correct? (CSNO price = Proceeds from ICO (in USD) / 100,000,000 tokens)

I was gonna ask the token price. I couldn't find the answer. So there is no fixed price of CSNO tokens?

Any minimum for pre-sale?

If you collect 9m dollars, will you cancel the ICO and return the amounts raised? Is it certainly 10m dollars objective?

Thank you.

The formula is correct. The price is determined at the end of the ICO with CSNO price = Proceeds from ICO (in USD) / 100,000,000 tokens

There is no minimum for the presale. If the amount raised is significantly under the 10M figure, funds may be returned at the owners discretion. If it is close enough to the target, it will likely proceed as planned.

Anybody knows if it is possible tu use  newledger nano s with old electrum wallet?

You will need to create a new wallet on Electrum as the seed is stored on the ledger device. You would create a new wallet in Electrum and indicate you want to use a hardware device. Once that wallet is created, you could send the balance from your existing wallet to the newly created on using the Nano S.

congrats bitdice, pre-sale has reached million dollar. i hope the other bitdice investors take the 5% extra bonus opportunity.

Yep, it has already surpassed 1 million and still steadily growing!  A little over 8 days left in the presale now.
Hi All, how can I partecipate to the presale ?
Thanks

Check out the ICO website at ico.bitdice.me and click the Contribute Now button to register an account and participate in the ICO.
220  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: **** WARNING **** Fake Electrum binaries in the wild at electrum-wallet.com on: August 07, 2017, 02:04:52 AM
True, but nothing holds a candle to a full GPG verification of Thomas' signature, which he places on every official release.

Yeah, but that doesn't help people if they aren't on the right website or don't have ThomasV's signature since the fake websites also publish fake GPG signatures.

If THEY don't have Thomas' GPG public key on their keyring they are not verifying anything!  Any fake signatures are beyond worthless if compared with Thomas' actual fingerprint verified key.  This is basic stuff.

Another sub standard to GPG solution would be to verify Electrum's site certificate number in the url before downloading any files.  In the case of electrum dot org the correct and ONLY actual fingerprint would reflect the following sha256:  D0:9E:C1:85:9C:CF:85:4A:42:C1:48:38:8D:33:43:0C:4F:23:77:A3:BB:F3:DE:92:51:9F:0E:6F:E8:63:DE:C6

If you don't see this fingerprint while logged into what you assume is Electrum you are NOT on the official site.  A middle man cannot replicate this fingerprint without PWNing the private key and that is unlikely.  Still GPG is somewhat better and the final acid test.

My point was that someone downloading Electrum for the first time and accidentally going to a fake website is not going to know any of this. They likely do not know that the developer is ThomasV and they have no idea which certificate number is valid or which URL is valid. Of course that information will help people knowledgeable about Electrum or previous users, but I'd imagine that new users would be the most susceptible to fake websites such this.
