201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: January 06, 2015, 12:52:38 PM
I think you know where I'm going with this.
The funny farm?

They say the first signs of madness, is when one talks to ones self.
Confidence is low, really low. and not without good reason.

Yah, maybe if you're hiding under a rock. IRC is crazy active, as is Slack.  That's where the action is. This thread is updated with info when appropriate, but the general atmosphere surrounding this coin can be summed up in one word: excitment!

Just now setting up the Java development environment to build out the blockmarket helper app.  Going to put 40 hours into it this week so it'll be ready by next weekend hopefully!
Java or Javascript? Using npm and bower?

Straight up Java. It needs to be a desktop app for win/osx/linux. Unless you have another idea?
ahh i see.. What bitshares did was use qt as a wrapper to an angular js
app to make it cross platform and minimize qt use.. only one file used qt and it opens up wallet in an angularapp using qt web component.. it solves the problem of using qt too much and using web development to do the job which is easier and more portable.

So this is meant to work as a wallet where it will hold and sign your private keys or will it use rpc still? If rpc then why not just use node or another rpc interface and develop a web app?

This is meant to work as a bridge between the existing qt wallet and the blockmarket website so that it is easy for people to purchase.  I wanted to do it in java because that is probably the closest language to c# that I know of, so the learning curve wouldn't be as high.

This also needs to be done quickly, and will be used for no more than about a month or so, as the Syscoin team is putting together v2 of the wallet, which will be a step away from QT (and its terrible developer experience) and move to HTML5/JS. At that point, RPC calls to the wallet will be trivial and will render my app obsolete. However, for launch it will be useful.

seems like any significant rally in any altcoin these days is just seen by others as an opportunity to dump and exit.

and we're back up in price. I think the support is here to stay Smiley

As people know we have moved to Slack for most of our chat communication. The Slack <-> IRC bridge is now up and running! Anything you say in #syscoin on IRC will be sent to the #general channel in Slack, and vice versa. Unfortunately you cannot use the tipbot from Slack, you'll have to hop into IRC for that and being active through the Slack bridge does not make you active for soaks- just letting you know now! This bridge is an experiment, and there are a few wrinkles to iron out already. But the key thing is that the two main hubs of communication for Syscoin are united and IRC is still one of those hubs.

Back to working on blockmarket and v2wallet!

Dude. You. Rock. That bridge is great, I just tried it out and it flawlessly writes stuff to both slack and irc with ease. Nice work getting it setup Dano!!

I see plenty of justification in being skeptical, sure you folks count me as a gloom and doom character but despite all I question, I still hold SYS.  I am however still not convinced even after a 20BTC pump and 7 instances of cold feet on bittrex logged today, until I see a wallet release that includes a market UI embedded within the wallet, I am still skeptical.  It really isn't brain surgery after the initial code base has been completed and I've been provided no answers as to the reasoning behind this, which ultimately lead to speculation, and a bit more than that.

I agree that we definitely need to see a market UI rolled out, and I have been talking extensively with danosphere about it. He is hoping to get that out in the next day or so.  I know the things he is working on are a blocker task for the v2 wallet UI, so once the features he puts out in the blockmarket are ready for consumption, the new html/js syscoin wallet will be in "full steam ahead" development mode.

I am personally glad that you are talking in this thread. It does discuss another side to the coin, and while you are skeptical, I think in time you will also see the benefits of syscoin. This isn't a pump and dump coin, and the reason we saw a 20 BTC pump is because a few people bought the coin and then once it appeared on the homepage of Bittrex and was up 50%, others jumped on it. Once they look into the coin (as some buyers no doubt will), I'm hoping they will see more than a momentum profit gain and more of a long-term beneficial crypto here.

Hello All,

just a quick message from me wishing all you Syscoiners a most happy holiday season!  Also I wanted to let you all know that while I haven't been posting on BCT lately, I am nonetheless still here and still very much active with Syscoin!  This year, after a tough last quarter, is ending on an extremely positive note (I can't say much more than that at the moment due to legal restrictions) and I am really looking forward to 2015 and all the exciting possibilities ahead for Syscoin.

All the best to you and yours for the holidays, and stay tuned! We've got some excitig stuff planned for Syscoin after the New Year.

Best to you all,

Coderboo

Coderboo lives! Nice to see you around these parts Smiley

Coderboo posts, and Syscoin price goes from 105->180 sats. Coincidence? I think not.

Up a cool 45% today Cheesy

I echo the above sentiments. Looking real strong. Bought in at ICO and doubled my holdings since. Exceptionally happy to be holding on this project, great responsive innovative dev  team and so great to see solid community working behind the scenes. Rock and roll.

Glad to hear you gave continued support to the coin through the past few months. Anybody who is in at the current (still) low prices is going to be happy in a year, for sure.

Hey,
the sys coin wallet for mac 0.1.5.1 doesn't sync properly and it has a message up the top saying 'warning: displayed transactions may not be correct! you may need to upgrade or other nodes may need to upgrade' as far as I'm aware this is the latest wallet, and it won't sync, 5 days ago is the latest transactions, is there a newer wallet?

Not sure if this will help, but have you tried restarting the wallet? Sometimes these QT wallets just need to reconnect to continue syncing.

yeah tried that, also download new installs of the wallet and tried on 2 different mac os's, I will try deleting the block chain and re download it

before you delete the whole blockchain, try deleting your peers.dat file first. You should also put this in a syscoin.conf file:

addnode=seed.syscoin.tk

If that still doesn't work, deleting the blockchain sounds like the best option.

Hi everyone,

I've added Syscoin to my Blockchain-Explorer:

https://bchain.info/SYS/

Comes with a richlist:

https://bchain.info/SYS/rich

And a mining calc:

https://bchain.info/SYS/tools/calculator

Have fun with it!

Very Nice!

My Husband finished the Chinese translation of the Website so will send it soon in email as well.. Smiley
your Husband  is so nice, and what about his btt account?

Just got the translation and thank you! We're looking at proper website internationalization/localization plugins so that we can do the different versions of the website right. We are looking for another native chinese speaking person to verify the translation. Its available here for verification: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rShApN0EY8UxnV54oMC1aCgtLUobSGtuaPQKHflghbA/edit?usp=sharing

It's broken down by page (look at the top). Once verified we can release the bounty Cheesy

Been working on Blockmarket Alpha trying our best to get it ready so we can release it tomorrow night at least in alpha form. Additionally we are waiting for feedback from the developer on the Android wallet (still) will have a hard date within 24hrs I'm told.

In addition to those items we're working on consolidating our chat channels and are giving Slack a try. We'll setup a bot to make sure it talks with IRC but now that there are so many community members looking to help we have a rather fragmented chat system between IRC, Skype and Google Hangouts so Slack should help there. Also we are putting TWO proper PMs in place to help keep things moving and people informed- the PMs are opposite-each-other timezone wise which should give us good coverage 24/7. More to come!

The updates are always appreciated. Thanks Danosphere!
