201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 06, 2015, 05:02:52 PM
Once BTC gets moving again (and I don't mean so much due to speculation), I think we are going to see the next rush into alts and how that plays out is probably BEYOND most anyone's guess.
Once Cryptocurrency becomes more a part of our lives (e.g. an accepted payment system for even a few % of people, investment, store of value, payment system, etc.), then that will be huge adoption, by definition, forget about the rush to get it.

Are we going to continue to Primarily measure these alts in BTC once adoption takes place or will it be in $$$? Does a XMR price of .1 BTC mean that it is 10% of BTC's network strength, use, value to users, etc? Can something anonymous go up that much? Because the before mentioned .1 or .2 BTC price seems impossible to say to me. I think as BTC goes up in price, after an optimal bell curve price in $$$ is reached, I think we will see alts go down in price (BTC ratio), especially the 2.0 stuff. Calling that point will be key.
Tough one to call for a variety of reasons.

Regardless, buy your lotto tickets coin now and take a seat. The show is about to start.  Grin

TBH (and i recently switched views regarding this) I wouldn't be surprised that when the next goldrush on crypto happens (whenever that may be) a decent chunk of the incoming money-wave will be directed towards a selection of alts. This time, opposite from last, the picks will be made differently though (ie: more based on promising tech). I still need to find rationalising arguments to support this thesis tho Cheesy

However I do think that this, again, will be speculative rather then based on usage/adoption. IMO a 'rush' is always speculative, since based on adoption would mean a natural growth (aka slow grind up) adjacent to user/usage growth. I think it's inherent to human nature (cause of herding/group think) that a market behaves like a drunk manic. Especially the illiquid kind we're having here. Don't some people argue that using this phenomenom/trait was Satoshi's strategy to bootstrap/kickstart the crypto-adventure.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 06, 2015, 03:22:52 PM
It is most definitely possible for xmr to reach the above mentioned values per unit. Will it be tomorrow, no. Will it be the coming months? Probably not. In the long run however, anything is possible.

If cryptocurrency develops itself as a new asset class, all those uber-bullish scenarios are very real. The ocean of capital is immense. Even a tiny percentage of it can move worlds, that's why this bet is so much fun. Downside is limited all the while potential upside is huge. It is an enormous IF though, and the "else" would be a lot less positive. The trick is to find a well founded probability for it, which, at least is believed by other actors.

Anyways, I've been studying the charts a little. Anyone else noticed that the moves up are on heavy explosive volume, while the descents are on a fraction of it? With the current bids (and risto's weighted average volume data in the back of our heads) it looks pretty great! reaching the 20's will be a pretty hefty journey , but man oh man what will happen after it....

BCX finally dumped his half his XMR.  That removes a lot of overhang.  Sweet.
FTFY
If it was him I'd rather he dumped the whole thing. Selling half leaves two options. Either the bids build back up and we get another 50k dump or we still have a nefarious charachter with a sizable chunk of XMR.

He put a 25k wall @ 15, which was eaten, and then another wall appeared swiftly. I'd say that 100k of the vid is absorbed.

What's BCX nick in de polo trollbox after he had to switch accounts because of the ddos?

Way to presume stuff to suit your own narrative. Not saying its not true but for all you know whoever had the wall at 0.0015 could have bought his own wall.  You just never know.

Who's being presumptious here?

The (2) wall(s) could have been unrelated. The timing seems to indicate differently. Wether the dumper is bcx is mere speculation.

I wonder at what price people who sold hoping for a retrace will panic rebuy

I want this.

Since were braking up from here, if bull volume fails were probably ending up in 160$ around double bottom
Explain how? I don't see this as a possibility at all.
If the push is not strong enough at this time more sideways action is more likely than a dump.

The way I read the market there is absolutely no incentive to sell coins below $220.

Sideways action is usually bearish.

Depends. Sideways (on falling volume, even) could either lead to a sudden break of resistance like in May, or of support, like in November.

Your guess is as good as mine, although I'm slightly leaning towards upwards, because of the sheer size of the January capitulation.

Hope so. Finex shorts at 23k. Nothing to see here.

For some reason i expect the fireworks to go right into the sky instead of burning to the ground. Can't really say why, there's multiple indicators for both directions, somehow I really think it will be up.

Wishful thinking or intuition? Cheesy

Haha, well congrats stslimited. How much did you manage to avoid losing? Couple of K's? Was that really worth your reputation?

Crypto really is to sleazeballs what those blue lights are to flies.

haha it was a pretty big position, the volume hasn't been 300 bitcoin just because Risto was trading back and forth. so again like I said, thanks to Risto for the liquidity. (I guarantee he was selling too, you could tell by how some of the sell walls acted)

You should get mad at the pumper.

I'm still doing the syndicate bid when Risto's bs fizzles out, and monero development gets further along in actual consequential usability

Don't get me wrong, sleaz-o, i'm not mad. I'm financially unaffected by you scamming some people into putting bids which you then dumped on. I haven't changed or taken any extra positions during the last several days. I'm just surprised by your lack of ethics. And also the fact you think you can do this again (proposing to form another 'syndicate'). How stupid do you think people are? How stupid are you?

I do not believe that a guy like you has any substantial amount under management. People who do are not dumb egotrippers who brag about a scam-trade in sort of some emmy-receiving speech-way. They would've kept it quiet and moved on. Keeping themselves able to form a real syndicate the next time. You are nothing more than a mincy little internet troll with maybe a 5 figure bankroll scrambled from some friends and relatives and acting like the new prodigy of investing. You got screwed out of money by some people smarter than you and this is how you reconstruct ego.

Good luck with the syndicate bid next time. I'm sure you'll find your way to sucker people in again, sleazebags always do. Oh and keep up the investor/baller-charade, there must be some guys here on bitcointalk believing it, lol.

Zo ver ik weet niet mobile, maar ook een game met crypto-integratie. Wellicht is een samenwerking interessant?

The browser-based Crypto Kingdom MMORPG is launching very soon. It will be, to my knowledge, the first game in the world that uses a cryptocurrency-based ingame currency (i.e. moneritos). This will likely make the front page of /r/bitcoin (despite /r/bitcoin's anti-altcoin bias) and draw a good amount of attention to XMR. This will happen whether Risto buys XMR or not. XMR is unable to absorb any serious amount of sustained buying pressure. Only a small number of English-speaking readers of 3-4 incredibly long, inaccessible threads on bitcointalk.org have any idea that this is about to happen, even though I'm writing it plainly here.

Depends on what do you mean by serious amounts of buying pressure.
I don't remember seeing ever that many coins for sale on Poloniex. In last summer the high points of coins for sale were 280 k coins, now it is constantly over 400 k coins (increase of 1/3).
There are plenty of coins for sale, only people who are willing to buy at any price is lacking.

Those 280k coins in asks were worth over a million dollars back then. Liquidity was much better.

I have no idea how the order books would change during an XMR bull-run. Undoubtedly, many coins would come out of cold storage to increase the supply and dampen the rise.

Also the total mined supply is not constant. 280k / total mined then is not comparable to now.

And, it basicly is all relative. Summer '14 is not comparable to late winter '15. Look at BTC-price, look at all the alt pricing/volume. Be careful when drawing conclusions to quickly about specific coins/situations. It all moves within an ecosphere, within an ecosphere, within a ecosphere.  Ecosphereception

214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 21, 2015, 06:58:45 PM
It's pretty insane that it takes 400 btc to get to 0.003, which (looking at pricing of a lot of other alts) would be a reasonable price with the current fundamentals/promise for the future. It's interesting that the high emission is this sort of self fulfilling prophecy. I believe it is lower than it should be.

Looking at marketcap, we're 7th when non premine/mineable coins are filtered. Going to 0.3 wouldn't change that ranking currently (equal to namecoin).

Are there updates about the freebazaar project? Are devs in contact with him/them?

I thought the project was abandoned ? Did everyone get their XMR back ?

as far as I know there was a private message group or something for folks that put in XMR. For real news, gotta wait for them to chirp up.

I am one of those folks Smiley There's no private message group afaik. Last thing I read about it that he was starting/started. This is some weeks ago, therefore was I wondering if there was news. I guess we'll hear something when there's something to share.

Just came across this:

Anyone did in-depth research about:

...
2.) Stellar (Improvements/Changes) vs. Ripple
...

...
2)
no but I would be really interested in that, given that one can assume that ripple (not ripples) at least partially starts networking

I thought that the primary difference between Stellar and Ripple was that Stellar was supposed to achieve much wider/better distribution, first with their facebook giveaways, and then sometime soon I think they're supposed to distribute to all btc addresses above some threshold.

http://observer.com/2015/02/the-race-to-replace-bitcoin/

Very good read regarding ripple/stellar, and sillicon valley/crypto world in general. It's long, but well worth it.
