Well depends on which ASIC you are speaking of I suppose...
From what I've read about Avalon's devices they planned to have their own version of cgminer built in? I'm unsure what became of that as I don't follow them closely but the official cgminer devs were not involved last I saw. Hopefully someone else can give better details here.
As for BFL, they stated they plan to send development devices to the cgminer guys but I do not believe that has happened yet and it's hard to say when it will happen. I imagine they'll need those devices before releasing code to support them. Also it looks like the device api is still being sorted out on BFL's end so that will likely need to have some sort of freeze before the cgminer guys would want to release anything supporting it.

Ok, so, the only way for a solved block to be recognized as legitimate is to have consensus. All other cases lead to forks of the original bitcoin and the decision of which one to follow lies with the participants, correct? If so, how can I make sure at any given time that I am on the original block chain?
Thanks again for your answers.
By using a wallet/software that follows the rules of the consensus. It will reject transactions which don't follow the rules.

The tesla aren't as awful as the rest of the nvidia cards at mining. Certainly not as cost efficient if you were purchasing them for only that purpose but if you already have them and want to play with them you can probably crank out some decent hashes. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparisonThis doesn't have the C2075 but it has a C2070 at ~750 Mhash/s so each card is around the equiv of a amd 5970 or so. If you plan on running them in mass you should try getting a read on how much power draw they have while mining. I imagine it's going to be pretty expensive depending on your electricity cost there.

Mt.Gox won't take it.
You're only hope is to try and find someone to buy it with bitcoins from you and/or get better friends.

fpf, are you using putty and if so is it possible that putty was closed/exited through some other method than normal or that there was a temporary disconnect in your network? Maybe on a laptop where you closed the lid or something?
The reason I ask is that I have a user having a similar issue with screen while using putty. He gets exits/freezes when putty is not closed manually. This seems to only happen while using putty on windows. No other user has this problem.

I play it but I'm afraid I haven't received any extra invites yet.
As for remote locations, the portals seem to come from some sort of database that includes monuments or like historical buildings. Also every post office I've seen is a portal. It'd be nice if they added libraries too but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The target is likely too limited and diverse for a botnet attack. There will be relatively few people out there using ASICS and of those that do they will likely be using many different types of OS/distributions. Unless you have zero days for everything it's going to be unlikely to get anything on a mass scale.
Additionally, how many people will actually have their ASICS hooked up to a desktop machine? Personally, I will have mine hooked up to minimal boxes with some minimal version of linux where every service will be turned off except the mining client and sshd on a non-standard port so I can access it locally on my network.
Luckily, ASICS will boost the difficulty up high enough so that having a botnet that mines off cpu/gpu as they do now will possibly pay less than the effort is worth.

Have you considered adding certain minor/easy perks for membership? Sometimes they help push people over the edge into supporting something they like anyways.
For example, the Linux Foundation has a few deals with vendors for discounts and membership comes with an @linux.com email address which automatically forwards to another address for you. Maybe you could work with some of the bitcoin vendors for discounts on their services to your members or offer an @bitcoin.com email forward.

Just to make it easy you bring up a root console and type the following: Add the following line to the file: * 0,6,12,18 * * * /sbin/coldreboot
Hit Ctrl+X to exit Y to save. With that said, I agree that if it needs rebooted so much then you are overclocking too much or perhaps one of your cards is defective.

Your spacing is off. Spacing matters a lot in the file.
Make sure you only have 2 spaces at the beginning of each line when you uncomment them.
