201  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: MT.Gox account hacked - lost 2k USD - MT.GOX will not explain how. on: September 17, 2012, 12:45:50 PM
You are missing the point...

mtGox OWN logs show that NOONE was logged on at the moment of the withdrawal.

Dont say my account was "easy picking" or that i should blame myself for not using 2 factor authentication.
When my credentials wasnt used by the thief to log on (whomever it might be).

If someone stole my password (from me and not mtgox) and logged on and withdrew the money, sure.
Then your statements would be valid.

Since noone logged on with my password, my security was not the cause!

I have filed a police report, but im not sure i want to verify my account since i sadly do not trust them, anymore.

/GoK

I have a feeling the ID/AML request is because of reporting a loss of over $2,000.

In this modern age, using just a password to secure anything of value is unwise.

I use 2 factor for any account that has over $10 dollars in it. Except those protected by the FDIC.
For my MtGox Account I use (Two) 2 factor accounts on two different devices, they would have to have access to both devices or crack 2 factor.

I also use 2 factor on all email accounts, to prevent password resets.

Did you access your account from a Desktop Or Laptop?

Was it running Windows? Are you up to date?
What AntiVirus are you using? is it up to date?

Have you ever accessed your account using WIFI? Unsecured? WEP?

Most likely your password was stolen from a Keylogger or They were able to login into MtGox by routing thru your Computer Remotely.

Do you download any software from torrents?

Just be aware there is also a virus that has appeared in Asia mostly, that can survive a format of the HD, by hiding inside your BIOS and reinfecting your system after reinstall.

File a police report,Verify your AML with MtGox(I don't think it will do any good),and Redeem Free Yubikey Offer

Until I see an account that has 2 factor used get stolen from, your security was the cause of your loss because you were easy picking.

Seems like you are grasping for straws. Please secure your money next time with one of the many features Mt.Gox offers.
202  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "Avalon" ASIC mining machine, announcement & pre-order start. on: September 17, 2012, 09:12:15 AM
So if something fails we are out 70-40% of the money? Also initial batch run is expected from 1/31-3/31 or is that mass production run?
203  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The BFL driver page on: September 16, 2012, 08:08:30 PM
I dunno, maybe to help legitimize the company and show potential other avenues of revenue to attract investors?
204  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FREE raffle for 20 BTC, just answer a quick survey. on: September 16, 2012, 07:07:24 PM
Answered the survey. Felt like a lack of security questions (ie: none) so I made sure to clarify the importance of this since it is especially true during the current "Wild Wild West" era of Bitcoin.
205  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Strange Radeon HD 7970 memory underclock issues on: September 16, 2012, 06:55:16 PM
I have the same issues with a Memory lock on my 7950 (max underclock is -150 Mhz of whatever GPU clock is). They are some forum posts throughout here and on guru3d talking about trying to unlock it, but I couldn't ever get it work.. not sure if its because these are a newer generation of cards or I simply cannot follow directions D:

what is wrong with the statistics?

I restarted the backend and they started over blank. Only lasts a couple minutes after a restart.

DrHaribo you are such a boss. I don't think I could ever mine on any other server. Cheesy

209  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Platform - Any Interest? on: September 15, 2012, 01:18:48 AM
I've decided that I don't have the time or resources to commercialize it.
I need to get back to openpay as soon as possible and this bot is turning into a huge time sink.

I don't want to dink around with licensing enforcement, drm and other bs, so I'm going to gpl it and put it up on github.  If it makes you some money please consider donating something to openpay because I'm between contracts right now and really want to see that come to life before I go back to fulltime work
.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Also, it will be fun hacking this thing apart! Cheesy

This is interesting. I am in if a spot opens up for further testing.

How are you guys able to downclock your memory? My memory seems locked at -150 Mhz of whatever core clock speed is =/

Hi cablepair,
I made an order about 30 hours ago, and have yet to receive any indication that the order has gone through.  Would appreciate your help to look into this matter.  Thank you.

I started a thread in the newbies forum as well but I can provide additional details in PM if you require.

My guess is this is a similar issue Tom was having with google wallet as well, where order api wasn't communicating properly with the website api (or something like that). I would shoot Tom a PM here or simply contact him via other means available via phone 315-514-0269, email (probably the quickest, contact@btcfpga.com) via skype (btcwebhost) or on Freenode irc in #btcfpga.

I had some concerns earlier and contacted him via e-mail and he responded within a few hours so I would suggest that first.

Is a netbook capable while using ethernet? I think those use like 40W or less.

While I do not own an MMQ, I somehow doubt the power source is linked to the computer you are using to control the mining operations. My guess is both MMQ and the bASIC will have their own independent power supplies.

There is still not much evidence that the Dr.evil has got the files.

There is still not much evidence that Dr. Evil does not have the files.

Really? You are going argue the same way religious nuts argue that their God exists?

I would be more concerned that the label from apmex shows "Swiss of America" while this one says "Swiss of Utah"
216  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL SC Die Guestimation/Speculation on: September 12, 2012, 10:08:49 AM
No. It's more like 50.000$ per lot (=50 wafers).

At least this is what I can remember when working for a semiconductor manufacturer (ASICS). But that's 20 years ago ... I'm an old fart now.

Values like these and the retail values of GPU/CPU dies on these technologies are where I'm pulling it from.  From a wafer I think you could expect ~200.   From a $2000 150mm wafer you would get ~200 100mm^2 dies, of which 70-80% may be usable or a yield of 150 usable dies.  This is $13 each to the company producing the ASICs, who would presumably need to test them for fidelity and mark them up before sending them off to BFL/whoever, plus assembly, R&D and whatever else setup overhead.  It is presumed that BFL would be ordering these wafers by the hundreds.

See more here:

Since when does cost of wafer = cost of device? Wafers are cheap compared to other pieces required to fabricate devices.

just joined your pool, right after the downtime. Now I cannot mine... worker rpc username/passwd is wrong. I double checked worker name/passwd and even created/deleted new workers. Didn't help. Any thoughts?

If you are the user I think you are then you have the username and workername right but the password wrong. I assume you are using the password you gave the worker on the worker page of the website? Make sure caps lock is off when typing the password, and if you use different keyboard language layouts that this isn't switched wrong. Can't really think of anything else.

Still, doesn't work. Created a new worker mintworker with passwd xxx. It does not work :-(
[/quote]

Is your username user.work ? or are you just giving the worker name, bitminter wants username.workername for mining.
