201  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Mixed Lots: LuckyBit, Antana, Bitcoin Penny ZEPH on: April 19, 2024, 09:18:53 AM
Where can i find more info about the lucky bit coins?

The "Big Yellow Book" (Bitcoin Encyclopedia) has a decent write up on.
All though, for some reason it is missing the 100x Rose Gold ones that were produced and for sale here.
Not sure who actually made the coins, but they were marketed here on the forum by use TheNewAnon135246:

I have one luckybit coin (No34), so this caught my attention.
I just noticed that there is nothing about this on the forum and that TheNewAnon135246 deleted almost all the topics which it is written about. I'm not sure why he did that, he's been away from the forum for a long time now. The act is like a part of history.

I want to say these were designed by Bigtimespaghetti. Both the coins and holograms. I’m also pretty sure he gave me a bunch of these holograms he had laying around and I gave a bunch away on here. After nearly 8 years here so much is now a blur. I will find out for sure and update this post.

Edit : confirmed
202  Economy / Economics / Re: Isn't it all about money? on: April 18, 2024, 06:32:22 PM
I find it amusing when people talk about not being a slave to the 9-5 workday, the "working rats" or whatever they call it.  How else is someone supposed to support themselves then?  The way I see it, yes, it's all about the money, but if you do something you truly like or love, then everything else seems to fall in place.  I LOVE what I do for a living, and it makes my life that much better because I'm making money and enjoying what I do, so I don't feel like I'm a part of the "rat race".
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less than 24 hours to Bitcoin halving and my Birthday! on: April 18, 2024, 06:29:53 PM
That's pretty sweet having your birthday coinciding with the bitcoin halving.  This is certainly a day a lot of us have been thinking /talking about for some time.  I am just curious how bitcoin is going to react once the halving goes in to place.  I've read that typically the price of bitcoin goes up, so hopefully that will happen again.  So happy halving and happy birthday to you!
204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you achieved anything from gambling on: April 18, 2024, 06:27:22 PM
I guess it depends on what you mean exactly by "achieving".  For me when I win a bet, or win money when playing casino games, I typically just use that money to buy groceries or something of that nature.  I guess what I achieve is a bit more financial "freedom" if you will.  I try to not just blow it on unnecessary things like going to the bar or whatever.  That's just kind of how I justify it.
205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 18, 2024, 06:24:49 PM
I put a few satoshis down on the Chicago Bulls vs Atlanta Hawks game last night, and was pleasantly surprised at how well the Bulls played.  Now I don't think the Hawks are all the good, so it wasn't a huge win, but it was still impressive nonetheless, especially since the Bulls don't have their best player in Lavine playing.  Colby White went off last night!

However all this game did was give Bulls fans false hope, extend the season to make more money for an owner who doesn't truly care about putting a quality team on the floor.  I guess I'm kind of excited for their next game, but it's all just false hope.  I will not be betting on the Bulls going forward, but on their opponent.
206  Economy / Gambling discussion / "Jontay Porter receives lifetime ban from NBA for violating gambling rules" on: April 18, 2024, 06:21:54 PM
I've seen this story being mentioned in the NBA threads, but wanted to post about it separately as this is one of the craziest gambling stories I've ever heard of.  I'm not sure if any active pro sports player, at least here in the United States, has ever been permanently banned from their sport while the season is going on like this.  Do you guys think the punishment fits the crime? He broke all sorts of ethical rules and I believe he deserves the punishment he got.

Thoughts in general?

"A league investigation found that Porter violated league rules by disclosing confidential information to sports bettors, limiting his own participation in one or more games for betting purposes, and betting on NBA games," the statement read".

"The NBA also found that prior to the game, Porter disclosed confidential information about his health status to "an individual he knew to be an NBA bettor." A different individual associated with Porter also bet that Porter would underperform March 20 as part of an $80,000 parlay the bettor placed with an online sports book".

207  Economy / Economics / Re: Counting the cost of a ww3. on: April 17, 2024, 02:44:46 PM
Yeah World War III would be a huge blow to pretty much everything financially speaking.  I think bitcoin would end up getting hit pretty hard, but not as hard as most see or think they see happening.  It would certainly tank the stock markets and people would try to flee for cash.  I still think bitcoin would probably lose half of it's value, but it could be worse.  Let's just hope it never happens!
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now that Bitcoin is no longer digital cash? on: April 17, 2024, 02:41:36 PM
I ask this question because I wonder what Bitcoin will become now that the financial institutions and meme coin advocates have taken over.

If Bitcoin is not peer-to-peer electronic cash then how do you see it?

Who's to say it's not?  Who gets to decide that?  I still believe that bitcoin is digital cash and that bitcoin still has the potential to be  a much better form of payment, or digital cash, if you will.  I think that it's important for the maturation and adoption for bitcoin to act as such.  Perhaps I am wrong but this is a hill that I've been standing on for a long time and don't plan to get off of anytime soon.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hawks vs. Bulls 2024 NBA Play-In Tournament Odds & Preview on: April 17, 2024, 02:39:31 PM
Another year, another post season that couldn't be more meaningless for my Chicago Bulls.  I wish that they wouldn't have even made this stupid play in game as it just gives the Bulls more money at the end of the day, and money they don't deserve.  Even if they win, so what, they've got no chance in the long run.  It's time to blow this team up.

That said, I might take the Bulls here because winning this game is just the type of nonsense I could see coming from them.  (then getting swept next series)
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When you are not to gamble. on: April 17, 2024, 02:36:20 PM
Gambling can be fun and also become a serious problem if not done appropriately. Alot of gambler get themselves into problem because they gamble anyhow and anytime. There are some times you should take a break in gambling so that you won't become an addict or give yourself problem. Time you shouldn't gamble includes:

👉👉when you are in need of money urgently
Some people gamble the most when they are in need of urgent money. They use the little in their account to gamble believe they can double the money in no time through gambling to do what they want to do. This most times go wrong making them to lose the little they should have save for that purpose

👉👉To regain back your loses
Pursuing loses in gambling make you lose more. So it better to have a break when you have lose alot. That period may not be your own lucky time to win. Taking a break can help you to avoid being addicted and also save you from losing more.

👉👉Under pressure or frustration
Gambling under pressure or frustration may make you go beyond your plan. It can also make you to make wrong decision from your bet. So it's better to do away with gambling during this period.

CONCLUSION
Gambling should be fun, it's better to stay away when it has started to become a problem.

Certainly agree with all of your bullet points of when not to gamble here.  I think too many people gamble for the exact reasons that you listed to NOT gamble for here.  Especially the one about regaining losses.  I think this may be the  number one worst time for people to gamble, or worst habit I should say, and is in my opinion probably the most common.  Stay safe out there people!
211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 17, 2024, 02:34:36 PM

Sure he will be training hard as Tyson has built his name to be a solid KO artist. But I doubt this will be a serious fight. It's called an "Exhibition fight" for a reason, no one will get harm especially the old guy and probably Jake Paul would be able to continue his career as a boxer now. There's still plenty of time to promote the fight, but the world knows it's Mike Tyson so they'll watch especially that it's broadcast in Netflix where membership is not expensive unlike paying a PPV subsciption.

Even though this fight will not be as we imagine, namely this fight will not be as serious as the fights shown by other boxers, you could say this is a very good moment because Jake Paul will try to fight Mike Tyson, a world boxer. legendary boxer. Even though Jake Paul is still relatively young, of course he is currently training hard to fight and defeat world boxer Mike Tyson and of course Mike Tyson also needs to be careful so that he is no longer young and his stamina is definitely less than before. .

I mean technically we don't know this.  They might end up fighting and it being a pretty legit fight all around, it's hard to say.  I think either way Tyson will end up winning.  I just can't imagine him being cool with losing no matter how much money they throw at him.  But at the end of the day I'm just hopeful this is an entertaining fight and not just some dog and pony show.
212  Economy / Economics / Re: Debt Management. on: April 16, 2024, 03:02:23 AM
Managing debt can feel like a never ending battle, but it you follow the right moves, and stay dedicated you can do it.  I think one of the biggest first steps for a lot of people with a great deal of debt is simply running a monthly budget.   This was lay out all your monthly expenses, make sure you're spending money where it should be spent, and not where it shouldn't.  This goes A LONG WAYS!
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a medium for donations on: April 16, 2024, 02:59:07 AM
I've run several charity auctions via this forum where bitcoin was used as the primary donation method.  Now to be fair, of the three different auctions I've ran on the site here, it was to two different charity organizations.  One accepted bitcoin as is, and the other I did have to sell in order to swap that bitcoin in to USD to be able to donate to the charity.

But, here's an example of one of the charities I ran here on the forum - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3248727.msg33830334#msg33830334
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 16, 2024, 02:54:49 AM
Exhibition matches would provably became more marketable nowadays since there's a lot of famous personalities reading up the hype and interest of people that's why for sure we can see a lot of this to happen. It may really laughable for Jake but in reality this is a big achievement for him either he win or lose since he is facing the legend and also he get a lot of money for this fight so there's no lose for him since he will create a lot of noise for this and for sure this will benefit him in long term. Also I thought I heard about they make this fight to be at pro level but anyways whatever set up they fight for sure both of them are the winners.
Jake is a great showman, he knows how to attract attention to his fights, and he added the Tyson Legend to this combustible mixture, so this fight can have a lot of views. Yesterday I came across a video where Jake and Mike are preparing for a fight, listen, it’s like I was watching excerpts from a movie, everything is so well heated up that I would even be interested in seeing how this fight could end. By the way, Tyson delivered such blows during training that I even believed that he could knock out Jake.

But we need to remember that this is just a show, for Jake for sure, but for Mike I don’t know, but I think that this is also an opportunity. Jake, of course, is acting very ostentatiously, but I’m almost sure that he likes it all, and for Tyson it’s just an opportunity to earn big money.

do you really think that mike will seriously fight against jake, I think it's just a show and for the money the rest is just silly sponsorships of products and other things now I don't know but if tyson really fights for paul it will be the end haha

I really think he's willing to fight him, but the one thing I'm not sure of is if its rigged or not.  I think at least some of these Paul brother fights are rigged. It's just hard to believe in some circumstances, despite the fact that they tend to not fight pro boxers, and guys whom are over the hill.

Tyson certainly looks a lot better/tougher than Logan, and I hope they do fight, free and fairly and Tyson kicks the living shit out of him.  One can only dream.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is gambling to you, a fanfare or potential financial havoc? on: April 16, 2024, 02:51:40 AM
Lol I think gambling to most people is meant to be a way to make money, and that to me is there in why people tend to lose so much money.  I love to gamble, I do all the time, but I do in a way that never puts me in any sort of financial situation that I don't feel comfortable being in.  I know that the likelihood of me coming out on top every year is slim.  Though the way I bet, responsibly, I do come out a little on top most years, but just enough to make sure its not wrecking "financial havoc" on my life.  I certainly feel for those that are addicted.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 16, 2024, 02:49:20 AM
I see my Chicago Bulls are in the play in game versus the Atlanta Hawks come Wednesday (april 17th).  I once again, like year after year, have absolutely nothing but disappointment and shame when it comes to this.  The Bulls are constantly on the line for making the playoffs, with absolutely ZERO chance at making any kind of legitimate run at it.  The Bulls are in purgatory, and nearing hell.
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold vs bitcoin in a WWIII scenario on: April 14, 2024, 11:48:33 PM
I think that it may not be correct to say that bitcoin does not help hedge against the “cost” of inflation. It may actually do just that, and has for some time. Now is it as reliable a hedge as gold? Absolutely not.

I think bitcoin would fall in price like most things if there were to be a WW3. But it just depends on how bad things get overall. Let’s hope we never find this out.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin the HERO we never knew we needed on: April 13, 2024, 06:08:01 PM
When I discovered bitcoin I was earlier on in my career which is a career set in the world of finance.  I was absolutely blown away by the prospects of bitcoin, the breakthrough technologies that it offered etc.  During this time, I had really begun to learn how corrupt the big corporate banks really were (JP Morgan Chase,BOA, Wells Fargo etc).   I was sold almost instantly and nearly a decade later I still feel just the same. Big banks are scum.  We need to keep fighting against them.
219  Economy / Economics / Re: The current situation in the country Nigeria. on: April 13, 2024, 06:05:35 PM
The hardship in Nigeria increase day by day the massive are suffering. The poor old men and women. That doesn't have access to bank are suffering. Just imagine a pregnant woman died in a hospital just because there was no cash the network was bad for transfer. Where are we going to. Our people are suffering they are dying our leaders should do something about it to me I don't think we have leaders anymore. The people we call our leaders have already failed us. Now it's time for election let's vote wisely let not suffer for 8 years again

I appreciate you bringing up this subject as it's very important people are reminded of and never forget the kind of atrocities that are going around different nations across the globe that don't happen in most other places.

I've read/been told that some of Africa's poor nations are being heavily controlled by China and Russia in the "background".  I'm curious of everyone's thoughts around that?
220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Proof of Scam ? on: April 13, 2024, 06:02:06 PM
The halving of bitcoin is indeed a dirty little trick hiding in the source code.

The bitcoin white paper misleads:

"The steady addition of a constant of amount of new coins..."

Point being:

White paper does not mention halving !

Lets say even if it didn't mention it in the White Paper, how is it a "dirty little trick" and how does that change much of anything?  There are quite a  lot of changes that have been made to bitcoin and bitcoins blockchain code that have gone in to effect ever since Satoshi left the project entirely.  Does that make all changes made a scam?  I think you're grasping at straws here and seemingly just trying to find any way to bash bitcoin.
