Somewhere along the line the default unit of time changed to hour from day, so that's why the numbers look smaller than they should (by a factor of 24).

80c for the 7950
If you leave the fan on auto and it is less than 90-100% then it's working as designed. Some people like to keep it cooler in hopes of preserving longevity, and that's fine but you'll have to control the fans in cgminer or some other app.
206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 3x 7950 rig PCI problems on: April 11, 2013, 02:43:38 PM
You can get the cards to run at 925/1250/0.975v at under 200W each. If you're overclocking expect 75+300 watt maximum.

To troubleshoot, try just one card and one extender then swap cards and extenders. If that passes then I would blame the mono or psu for low 12v bus power. Check the levels in the bios.
207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Are "Shares" And How Do They Impact Mining? on: April 11, 2013, 05:52:49 AM
A share is a unit of work (that's of difficulty listed in cgminer).

Basically each valid hash generated has to pass a difficulty test and when it passes the test, it is validated as a block and a payment is made. The way pools work is they divide this work for one block into shares that are of lesser difficulty. Each valid hash that passes the lower difficulty test is a share in finding a block because it might also pass a higher difficulty test (and find a block). It's a way of measuring contribution to the solution. Someone who gets close to the solution a lot will be given more shares and thus more of the block reward.

The share count also factors directly into how much you get paid. You get paid entirely on shares, the pool doesn't know your hash rate (other than guessing it by share rate).

For litecoin, and I'd use amazon instead of newegg or tigerdirect because they disable will call on shipments which sucks for me (and it doesn't make sense)

If your idea of a rig looks like this:

Then you can buy this:
AMD x2 270 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005AKK02S
ASRock Extreme 4 970 (AMD) , It's got some built in power/reset button that's perfect for caseless http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004M4N01Q
Raidmax 850W Gold, should drive 3 cards http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058HUQJ0
Some RAM (Could go with 4GB) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QBUL1C
Sapphire 7950 (This model specifically) X3, Sapphire TRIXX allows voltage control which is important http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098HW1HG
Your choice HDD/OS
4 Pack of fans http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O8I474
3 of these, can get away with others http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ASIMG1A
Cost: ~$1300

From Menards:
Two crates, look in the plastic bin section
#6 x 3/4" Machine Screw , Self Tapping
Wooden dowel
Pack of zip ties

Case Assembly: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=163306.20
Zip tie the two crates together
Cut the dowel to fit across the midsection, zip tie it down

Install your OS, undervolt the cards to 0.975v , run them at 950/1250 and mine using cgminer

$4000 gets you 3 rigs and approximately 4800 kH/s in litecoin. Uses around 600W (I don't have a meter to use)
209  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PCI-e cards: must they be in a 16x slot? on: April 11, 2013, 05:14:48 AM
Be careful with this, the x16 slots are designed for 75W and the x1 only 25W. You run the risk of drawing too much current from your motherboard since the video card might be designed for 75W. You could modify the cable to provide more 12V power.
210  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "Casual" mining on: April 11, 2013, 05:06:45 AM
If you're a casual miner, you want the least variance, so go for PPS or PPLNS. The fee will be higher but if you are working all day for a single share it won't be very rewarding.

Two other things you need:
Low Payout Threshold
Low Payout Fees

I also recommend cgminer with intensity "d" for a computer you use normally. It will move out of the way of other applications so your desktop is usable while giving a decent hash rate.
