201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally Bitcoin is in the schools for students to explore on: October 17, 2017, 06:34:56 PM
I just came across this great news,

* Australian Primary School Students Explore Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technology.

According to the article,

"The ‘School on the Blockchain’ Program Provides Young Students With Many Opportunities to Explore Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technology".

Let's appreciate this move and I am sure this would make it easier for next generations to learn and explore this new technology. What do you think about it?

Oh, great! Now I'd like to leave the Philippines and migrate. You know I envy those countries that take cryptocurrency seriously and are making moves to educate people about it. It's just sad that here in our country I'm tired of seeing posts in facebook groups that I joined. I observed that btc knowledge here only spread through facebook. Then people trying to invite other and promising huge income from investments. But the sad part is that they have no idea what they are getting themselves into, such a bandwagoners. All they think about is earning easy money. I am a Filipino but I am very much disappointed how my other fellow countrymen treat btc and other cryptos. I hope in the future people here will have proper education and understanding about bitcoin.
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is effect of upcoming Bitcoin Forks on existing bitcoin holders? on: October 17, 2017, 06:23:52 PM
I also think that the upcoming fork will not have a major effect with btc holders but to just gain another altcoins. As for me, just like what happened last fork, I just dumped bch and exchange it for btc. And like what I did I just slept it over. Whatever the effect is/are of the hardfork we can't do anything about it.
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving Bitcoins for your Children. on: October 17, 2017, 05:25:45 PM
I made a paper wallet for my son and I deposit a smaller amount of Bitcoins there every month. I kept it in a secret place that only me and another person knows.

That's great move you did, man! I hope once your son reached the right age the coins are still intact. And of course I do hope he will put it to great use and keep in his mind how much you worked for it and kept it safely for his future. Being parents sure is hard and you always put your children's needs before yours. Even if they're still tiny as a kitten you already set your goals and see to their future. If I'll have children of my own in the future I might also save some btc and other coins for them and educate them about it as they age. But most importantly I'll see to it to acquire other assets that can secure their future other than cryptocurrencies to be sure.
204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: crypto Currency is making people millionaires all over the world on: October 17, 2017, 04:58:50 PM
2020 millionaires all  over the world Grin Grin

For those who bought tons of btc earlier when it is at least worth somewhere in $500 may become millionaires. That is, if they save and keep on hodling every single coin and not sell til 2020. It also depends on btc's price during that time. There are lots of factors to consider for them to really become one of the lucky ones and be a millionaire. 2020 is more than 2 years from now and we cannot guarantee that majority of holders can hodl that long. Not to mention the case of hacked wallets/accounts or lost and forgotten privkeys.
205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Being Manipulated on: October 17, 2017, 03:49:36 PM
Hello y'all, I recently noticed something about Bitcoin, it seems that the countries that have more users of the crypto are manipulating the currency behind the scene. Forget the issue of it being demand and supply. Take a look at when China brought up a regulation on bitcoin in the country, the price of bitcoin dropped rapidly, so that the rich elites can buy much of the currency during that period since the price is now lower.

This is what am guessing though and I shouldn't be criticised since we're in a free world in which nothing is free. Grin Grin Grin

Long before the issue with China, bitcoin have been manipulated by whale investors. And btc manipulation is not made by China, never China. There are numerous btc whales out there that can manipulate btc any time they want that it's hard to determine if the surge is natural and organic or by manipulation. Btc price can be manipulated even by a single big whale who owns thousands of btc with just a few clicks. Take for example "Spoofy" who is allegedly manipulating btc market.
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Idea: How to increase bitcoin demand on: October 17, 2017, 01:44:31 PM

Contact e-commerce websites like Amazon, and request that you want to pay with Bitcoin, Ether or any other coin you like.

It can be done by using site's feedback or contact us forms.

This way we can create demand because good e-commerce sites care about their users. And they know that the more payment methods you have the higher the conversion rate (the % of people who buy something) because some users can use only 1 method of payment. For example, some americans can only pay with Paypal while some venezuelans can only pay with Bitcoin, etc. So, if the site supports more payment methods it will convert more orders on average.

To increase the demand for implementing cryptocurrency payments in e-commerce sites we just have to request that using the contact us or feedback forms. The more people give feedback to their favorite online retailers the more people will start using bitcoin as payment method (now that we have segwit).

The more people do this the more demand for Bitcoin there will be.

Thanks to those who do that.

I'm not quite sure if this idea can increase bitcoin demand. Because in the first place, people who have not a single idea about btc will just chose cash/credit cards for payment on their purchases. The best way to increase demand is spread the word and educate people about cryptocurrency or bitcoin to be specific. How it works and what are its uses and advantages.
207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a currency or asset? on: October 17, 2017, 01:14:54 PM
Like most of us here I firmly believe that bitoin is both currency and an asset.
It is considered as currency because it can be used in purchasing and transacting with various establishments or people that accept btc as payment. It can also be converted to fiat in case you are transacting with someone that only accepts cash.
Bitcoin is also an asset like real estate, gold or other stores of value. The nature of Bitcoin as a commodity that can be purchased and stored safely is one reason it's considered as an asset.
208  Other / Off-topic / Re: What wallets do you use? on: October 16, 2017, 05:22:56 PM
I've been using coins.ph for a time now since it's the only local wallet available. But I decided to shift to blockchain since there have been issues with coinsph lately. It's hard to invest my coins because the transaction confirmation takes too much time. I sent btc yesterday and right now it hasn't been reflecting to my investment account and it's already 30hrs have passed. Then I'm also waiting for my withdrawal fron another investment and my btc's not yet arriving in my wallet. Lately, there are also issues of account suspension and the transaction fees was way too high. So it's time to move on to another wallet and so far, I have my eyes on blockchain. I also have myetherwallet.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are so many people against bitcoin? on: October 16, 2017, 01:14:51 PM
Maybe those people are againts btc because they are afraid of it. I think some of them are the elites who have seen how btc made new millionaires just by owning hundreds or thousands of btc earlier for a lower price. They are bunch of insecures because they didn't believe it at first and they just went on working their ass to stay in power while new millionaires just purchased coins and became millionaires in just a matter of time. We know that insecurity is the cause of hatred and that's how I see them people who hate bitcoin.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dimon [ JP Morgan CEO ] Continues to Make a Fool of Himself.... on: October 16, 2017, 08:36:53 AM
This is Mr. Wall Street Mr Dimon and he continues to bash Bitcoin all the time. Last week he stated he was going to shut up...NOT. He continues to run his mouth and calling investors stupid, He needs to look in the mirror. I have to say it really amazes me how irresponsible he is and just showing his ignorance on this topic.

There is a lesson to be made do not listen to the Guru's most are just clueless..I stopped watching financial TV and Radio. Do your own research and work and you will be better off in your financial endeavors.....

Not again! Just when I thought this forum will be "Dimon-less" since he said he'll shut up. But honestly, it wouldn't hurt to have a good laugh everytime we see this kind of news of his clueless, baseless and senseless statements. If anyone of us here needs financial advice I think he can give a good one. But never ever go to him for a cryptocurrency investment queries. Do not even think about his name. He knows nothing about tech assets as he is worshipping papers with serial numbers on it.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: china Asserts Bitcoin’s Adoption as Actual Currency Would Be Disasterous on: October 16, 2017, 08:08:50 AM
I think most people would agree that Bitcoin is not ready to be a mainstream reserve currency for a whole country. Bitcoin cannot handle that scale of transactions and cash is still king in most countries. You have no waiting time on Credit cards or cash, so it is still the preferred medium of payment for most countries.

We might see something different when the Lightning Network is implemented, because that will be much faster and the transactions a lot cheaper. < Again, cash transactions are free >

My observation also. Bitcoin is still young to be implemented as nationwide currency. And implementation will also be based on the country's capability in adapting btc as their currency. Lot's of changes and upgrade that no third world country can afford. Just like here in Philippines, the country has more pressing issues than cryptocurrency implementation. And cash will still be the main medium in every transactions especially if you reside in a town and is miles away from the city to use your btc.
212  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: October 16, 2017, 05:54:35 AM
When I was unemployed, I relied on btc to support my needs since I have limited savings. It took me 4 months to find a new job so when my friends and previous colleagues asked me how did I get by since I didn't have a job for a long time. That's when I started opening up the topic about bitcoin. Naturally, they got curious because it's not simple not to have steady income. Then I also started posting about btc in my social media accounts.
213  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC speculation before fork on: October 15, 2017, 08:49:09 PM
where do you guys see the price? will it break 6k or will it back to 5200-5400$ and settle there for some time?

Bitcoin will not break the 6000 dollar wall, not before the upcoming fork. I think that Bitcoin will go lower than 5000 USD as we approach closer to the schedule of the hard fork. This is inevitable since whales might trigger panic selling, FUDs are everywhere. However, the downtrend will not last long since Bitcoin can recover easily from those kind of dump. $6k is the next destination until the end of this year.
214  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sold my Bitcoin today on: October 15, 2017, 08:31:37 PM
I sold my bitcoin today. I think the price jumped too much too fast. My opinion is that it will drop below 5,000 soon and in that case I will buy back again because i expect bitcoin to increase significantly in the long term.
What do you think??

I agree with your thoughts. There is an upcoming fork and based from the fork last August 1st, Bitcoin's price then significantly decreases. Not a just a decrease but a tremendous decrease. So since there is a fork that will get underway within days, a dump in price is very much probable. Below 5000 is very reasonable and might go lower than that. I am not saying that your thoughts and mine is correct, but hey, it's not bad to expect the worse in this type of situation. And after the fork, there will be a great opportunity for growth.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Will Happen if All Countries Recognize BTC as a Real Currency? on: October 14, 2017, 02:20:25 PM
If every single country of the world will adapt and legalize btc the surest thing to happen first is a great surge in its value. More people/investors will buy btc and time will come that an average person cannot afford it anymore. If that will happen and you're one of those early btc holder who are now millionaires, well then you will be billionaires by that time.
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: October 11, 2017, 03:59:03 PM
is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? anyhow this money sits in the bank and do nothing for!

It's not just risky but also unwise of you if you did. You've worked hard for that money, didn't you? How would you feel if one day you accidentally lose your privkey? Or your wallet was hacked? I bet you'll tell yourself that your money should have stayed in the bank afterall. And you'll definitely be devastated and might suffer emotional distress. So better think it through before doing just that.
217  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will be 10k in the next 6-10 months! on: October 11, 2017, 03:25:52 PM
10K in 6 to 10months is very likely to happen. As we've seen how btc price of almost $900 at the beginning of 2017 up to $5K in less than a year that's very feasible. So before the 3rd quarter of 2018 we'll be seeing that 5digits value. Never mind those critics who can't appreciate good things that cryptocurrency has to offer. It's their loss anyway. I won't even be surprised if some of them have swallowed their words and already joined the pool and invested in btc and other alts seeing how profitable cryptos are.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Inherit coins to my family after passed away on: October 11, 2017, 10:57:43 AM
The only one who know my coins investments, wallets, private keys, is me. So the question is how to inherit this information to my family? to give them privilege to access it after I passed away  Embarrassed.

This is a good topic and of course no one knew what will be our fate. There are people who die of old age, accidents, sickness, and heinous crimes. That's why we should also give attention to the wealth that we will leave to our families. That is if you really have wealth to pass on. I think one good way is to keep it in a safe and leave notes for your family or have a family lawyer for your last will testament. But before these, you should first educate your family about cryptos and have them have their own wallets so that they will know what to do with yours in the event of your death.
219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi & US government on: October 11, 2017, 04:34:06 AM
Co-founder of Nem coin said: "US government knows who Satoshi?".

Do you believe that? And why does the US government not publish?

How would Nem coin co-founder know about this, I'm really wondering. I honestly gave up wondering who Satoshi is because there's no way for me to find out unless he himself will come forward. And even if he does, will we really believe that he's the real deal? As for the US government, let's say I believe that they know him. I think it's not their place to publish who he is especially if ge doesn't want to. It might also be for his own protection because there will be big time criminals who will hire or abduct him to their biddings involving btc or a new crypto.
220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia banning BTC? on: October 11, 2017, 03:40:33 AM
I think it has something to do with the Russian male suspected of the $4B money laundering caught in Greece. But I think Russia will not entirely ban bitcoin and besides it is stated that they are only banning exchanges. They will not do what China did and that I think someone's manipulating things now that we're close to 5K again. Expecting the worst, if they do ban btc I think that people now realized how btc came back from the dip so only the newbies will be shaken by this kind of news.
