2001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] [CPU] J-coin pre announcement on: July 30, 2013, 07:55:52 PM
Pfff.... Botnets want to make money just like anyone else.  Therefore, they won't be fools and just dump it.  They will hold for profit like anyone else.

Thus, your argument doesn't seem to hold water.
2002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] [CPU] J-coin pre announcement on: July 30, 2013, 01:40:18 PM
Finally a decent altcoin.
2003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: July 29, 2013, 11:43:31 AM
Most coins are c/p with a bit of things changed.
QRK has unique hashing among 43900835 coins that were released in the past 2 months..

Does "c\p" mean "copypaste" or "crap"?  Grin

Both.

Quarkcoin is undervalued.  Due to the redundancy in hashing it's probably one of the more secure coins out there.  The minting of the coins was a bit top-heavy, so the value is low right now, but that will soon change.

QRK is definitely one to watch!

I saw some buying and price increase on huge volume this morning (300k + buy order).

My advice would be to have a position in QRK.  There's nothing but upside potential at these prices.  Leverage up for massive profits as it gains credibility and importance.  It is one of the few altcoins that actually innovates and should stand among primecoin, LTC and PPC in terms of innovativeness.  I think the price will soon follow as it's about to get a whole lot more rare.

What price do you think is the "stable price"?
Well it's currently underpriced, but it should be above the current cryptsy price, I'm not sure about the exact range it should be in tho,

I would say it's under priced.  It should be priced 0.00006 to 0.00008 IMO
2005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: July 28, 2013, 01:32:11 PM
Yesterday on Crypsty at 0.00001 today between 0.00000400 and 0.00000300

Why?Huh  Huh

Normal for a new coin launch... give it a few weeks.
2006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: July 28, 2013, 07:45:23 AM
Price has fallen hard while difficulty skyrocketed... hmm

I smell a sharp rise incoming in the near future.

Agreed.

Also: does anyone need the compiled file for Linux?

Does it have a GUI?

Who has the domain?

No GUI, it would be for headless Linux like a VPS.

Could you build one with a GUI?

QT Wallet built on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit:

Nice work.  Thanks!

ohiwastedmylif & Max Guevara; Can you guys get this hosted on the site under "Downloads"?

Can someone else do an OSX GUI build?

What about something like this?

Awesome!!!  Now get it on a website like this: http://www.yacoin.org

That will make a huge fundamental difference on the outlook of QRK.

Also, QRK seems to be gaining pace.

Biggest problem with this coin at the moment. Serious lack of stable nodes.

Everything is stable for me.  Sounds like FUD mongering,
rofl, stay paranoid. Tons of people are having network issues, it's the sole reason I'm not farming en masse.

Not really, no.  It's easy to connect and there's only a few with pebkac problems preventing them from connecting.

Here's a list of nodes to try.

I bought 100,000 QRK at 0.000008X.  Cost me nearly nothing... So much more upside potential than my 401k.

Working on some random logo ideas

Very nice Smiley

Pretty cool, but too dark and looks unclear when scaled down.

How about simple flat, bright colors?
2015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: July 27, 2013, 09:17:12 AM
I can't connect or download the blockchain for the life of me.  Huh Any help? Thanks  Smiley
Biggest problem with this coin at the moment. Serious lack of stable nodes.

Everything is stable for me.  Sounds like FUD mongering, which accompanies every successful coin.

Re Botnets, yeah that sux, but there's nothing that can be done.  Meanwhile, enjoy the fact that this coin is GPU free.  I can tolerate botnets, but not GPU farms.

Can we see when reward halving is planned?

Quote
* 2048 QRK per block (halving every 60480 blocks ~ 3 weeks)

The total amount of coins is a bit high tho.

I don't think it is actually.  The number of coins being minted is set to drop _exponentially_!

N.B. LTC has hundreds of millions of coins.

So, I think the number of coins is actually quite good.
Hundreds of millions?
Please inform yourself before talking about matters in which you have very low or limited knowledge.
Let me get that info for you straight from the litecoin website.

The Litecoin network is scheduled to produce 84 million currency units.

Umm... sorry I mean, Feathercoin.  Anyway, you get the idea.

Difficulty going up... this should increase the price.

To be successful Quark needs

a) Nice clean logo
b) Domain and professional looking website
c) Pre-built Windows, OSX and Linux clients (all must have GUIs)

Can anyone help with these?

Each of these is key.

Quark is no joke-- it's going to be huge.  By employing 6 hash functions, it offers a strong diversification point for crypto-currency portfolios.  As it is CPU-based, it's also having a very healthy launch, in which the QRK is being distributed to a wide range of users, rather than just a few GPU farmers.  Even to this day QRK is quite profitable to CPU-mine.  These are the fundamental elements of success.

I have registered a domain for the web site. If there's anyone with design skills that would like to help in the web site and logos, please let me know.

Nice work!   Is there someone out there with webdev skills?  Something like FTC or BTB's website would be nice.

Do we have a professional looking logo?

QRK is one of the hotter coins being talked about right now - as a community we need to keep the chit chat up as much as we can in all the exchange chat boxes. Btc-e / cryptsy / coins-e

The more we talk about the coin - the more people will look into it!

Agreed.
