2001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is more profitable mining with at the moment: CPU or GPU? on: November 12, 2013, 12:30:16 PM
It mostly depends on how many other people are mining the same coin at the same time.

CPU mining was massively profitable last year for BBQcoin for example when no-one was bothering to use GPUs to mine it, a whole bunch of people all put just one CPU core onto it for about a year, then sold for fortunes when it came back into the public eye.

Basically you need to look for coins that are pretty much abandoned, and just direct the least amount of hashing at them that will get you some blocks, and just sit that out hoping it is a long long time before the masses regain interest in that coin.

Otherwise you pretty much have to go with super hardware and low electricity prices no matter what you are mining, including things like primecoin and protoshares and such.

-MarkM-

Electricity is always the killer when mining. Lucky it winter now, it mostly off peak prices until spring. XPM and PTS are more profitable in my situation at the moment. BTC seems to drive down GPU mining at the moment because of it's surge is price.

For me, this past week, I have to agree with you on CPU mining. I think I have made more than I have in 3 months of mining with a HD7970, thanks too a bit of PTS luck lol.

XPM been a consistent payout, but PTS has potential to be explosive once the genesis blocks start and Bitshares comes online. I just have 100 PTS at the moment, which I got on day one mining 2 blocks. I'm pool mining at the moment at Beeeeer's PTS pool. My GPU's are at idle for most part of the 3 weeks now. I've been investing in securities to at cyrptostocks.com .
2002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which is more profitable mining with at the moment: CPU or GPU? on: November 12, 2013, 12:14:21 PM
Me personally, I've been CPU mining. Which is quieter and lower power cost than GPU mining, in my assessment. What's your thoughts on this?
2003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ypool down on: November 12, 2013, 12:06:08 PM
Yup. But Beeeeer and RPool are up for XPM. PTSPool and PTS Beeeeer are up for PTS.
2004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Protoshares (PTS) pool is working the best for you? on: November 12, 2013, 11:52:33 AM
I have 25 cores pointed at Beeeeer and i'm doing ok. I haven't tried the others because I'm currently happy mining there. Smiley

Beeeer is more stable than Ypool at the moment. But Ypool will probably get it right in the next day or so, they are the original cpu mining pool...lol....What's you result with the 25 cores? Are you running physical cores or VPS?
2005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Protoshares (PTS) pool is working the best for you? on: November 12, 2013, 11:19:38 AM
PTSPool, Alpha Miner Pool, Beeeeer PTS or Ypool PTS?

So far, I have the best success with Beeeeer. Ypool is still buggy and haven't tried the other two. Still it's viable to solo mine still, but the pools make it more of a guarantee to get at least some PTS instead of waiting to get a block on solo mining, if it's not rejected.

PTSPool for me finds shares infrequently but gives a decent return, seems to be working.  Alpha Miner has been up and down.  They find lots of shares but the amount per share is therefore low.  I haven't used beeer.
Ypool seemed good but isn't working anymore.  Is it normal that pools go down so often or is PTS a bit unique?

Ypool is still having issues even when it was up. Beeeeer pays ok, I'm mining with 16 physical cores at the moment. How many cores do you have directed at PTSPool? What's you payout looking per block? I'm averaging 0.02 PTS per block at the moment and just started a little over an hour ago.
2006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Invictus Innovations ProtoShares Cheat Sheet | CPU Mining | Fork at Block 12096 on: November 12, 2013, 11:14:23 AM
How do I use this one? downloaded the git, now I am lost!
Edit worked it out.

ypool is dead

jh00 is probably working on it.

amazing when they have experience mining primecoin that it dies after a few hours of ProtoShares..

I asked jh00 if the PTS pool was going to have an issue with XPM pool, he assured me it didn't. Plus all the updates on the site is making it also have issues too. I ended up mining at beeeeer PTS pool or I might go back to solo mining. I like the PTS miner for Ypool that consumes only 512mb on memory per core and is 64-bit.
2007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cell/B.E. LTC Superminer Project on: November 12, 2013, 11:05:00 AM
The theory is sound. I'll keep an eye on this project. How much is the cell processor go per unit or bulk?
2008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which Protoshares (PTS) pool is working the best for you? on: November 12, 2013, 11:03:50 AM

No market + No block explorer = No chance of being on a market

Plus no services at the moment to use the coin
2011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Two 6950's for $130. Should I buy? on: November 12, 2013, 10:28:39 AM
Unfortunately he never got back to me. So I got the second best offer there, which was a sapphire 6950 for $100. Maybe if I make my money back I'll buy another one

Still not a bad price. Still goes for $160-$170 new. You could have brought the price down to $90 to $80.
2012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BLC] Blakecoin fast blake-256 Alt Coin for CPU/GPU/FPGA on: November 12, 2013, 10:26:21 AM
It seems that no one buys Blakecoin, I tried to sell some BLC at different prices, and no one was not interested in buying. I think it's because of pool\block explorer absence Sad

That's another reason why it hasn't hit a market. Most markets at least want a block explorer, but most want both block explorer and pool. Plus no services online yet to use the coin.

2014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Two 6950's for $130. Should I buy? on: November 11, 2013, 11:12:51 AM
That's not a bad deal. The best I could find was on craigslist for $80 each ($160 for 2). Best you just shader unlock 6950's, the 6970 flash can potential damage the 6950 via over voltage.
2015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beeeer.org PTS Pool -> LESS REJECTS! on: November 11, 2013, 10:59:06 AM
Like the 64-bit miner on Beeeeer.org PTS Pool. Wondering if the miner works with solo mining too?

2019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is RPool and Beeeeer down? on: October 31, 2013, 03:20:22 PM
How long does it take rpool to show earnings on their site? I've been mining for an hour and it still says no earnings.

Is RPool up? Still looks down to me...

I keep getting disconnected from ypool.

That happens once in a while. I usually just restart the miner. If that doesn't work, I just reboot the computer.

TIX is a unique crypto currency being the only scrypt-jane with random block rewards for the first several hundred thousand blocks. It is a collective effort of several prominent developers that have experience both creating and maintaining networks for coins. Not only does this provide solid coding for the coin itself, but also the knowledge and experience to keep the network going and patch any issues, should they arise.

The development team will remain anonymous at this point, but will continue to monitor and maintain both the code and network better than any other developer or development team can. Our team is comprised of individuals that are responsible for no fewer than 20 coins currently being exchanged. Mine and trade with confidence of instant transactions knowing that this coin is backed by the best, and only the best. We don’t want this coin to succeed based on our reputations of releasing very solid and profitable coins. This one will speak for itself!

Seems like this is a slowly dying project. The wallet needs an update.
