that's 0 proof.  It's equivalent to him saying he paid 8M for Zen, Eric told us that is not true. A press release is not proof of anything
One of those sources quoted the other end of the sale, revising the $1.1 million number GAW provided to $1.0 million provided by Domain Guardians.

I think it's pretty solid.

They agreed to pay 1 million, and we saw in the email archive that they are making monthly payments for it and that they almost had the domain taken back for missing one because "their accountant was sick."

I wonder if whoever had btc.com is going to be another person fucked over by believing that Josh would make him rich for doing nothing.
2002  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Miners Paybase Paycoin unofficial uncensored discussion.ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: March 12, 2015, 11:51:09 AM
rolling the scam back into cloud mining is hysterical.

As to the previous derail about GAW being broke, I dont' see how. What are their expenses? Not paying bills and being broke are not the same thing.

million bucks for btc.com for one

The million bucks was done in payments, and those almost already stopped once, and can easily stop when they need to.

Their income was selling things that don't exist, dumping paycoins, and will be walking with all the coins left in paybase (and probably the other exchange) when the time comes. There isn't much income, but they don't need any, because they have no business. All the money given to them will eventually filter to the employees, which is the whole point.

Probably not the right place because the ofc scoring comes from elsewhere, but it seems bogus to me. I'll post here in case it's a bug, because I just don't get this.

this is probably because there was a shortstack in the hand, but here it goes.

Hand 1. Seat 3 gets kings up > 8s up > Aces to beat my flush > 66 > q high for 6 points, so I ship him 750

While he's in fantasy land I get 3s full > 777 > AA, which is better than his flush  > qq > 22 by 19 points, but he ships me back 685. Feel like I should at least get the money back from the hand before, and not getting fantasy land because the 3rd guy didn't have enough money to pay me (even though he didn't bust) sucks too.

Short stacks make every game horrible.  Don't short stack/don't play with short stacks and you won't have any problems.

It was a tournament, and it turns out I may have been the short stack (didn't realize how bad the 3rd guy got beat in the first hand) but I still don't get it. If I had enough chips to lose 750 to seat 3 in the first hand how can I not win 750 the next hand?

I don't get what is so hard about the compounding. Is there a way to make it so you can't deposit into those addresses and that the stakes are sent somewhere else, because that would avoid the compounding/fraud with those. Not sure why people are shocked that it compounded when it just was going right back into the thing.
2007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: March 11, 2015, 02:10:17 AM
Here's an absurd example.

Roulette, betting 100 on Red and 50 on red and 50 on black have the same house edge, but one bet is obviously a lot worse.

So maybe the important point is that while we can't change the house edge by adjusting bet size, we CAN change the variance, and as gamblers we want the variance to be as high as possible.

To make your roulette example just a little more stupid, imagine betting $1 on all 37 numbers. Every spin of the wheel costs you $37 and pays you $36, so you lose $1, or 1/37th of your stake every spin.

Alternatively, bet the the whole $37 on zero. 36 times out of 37 you lose $37. 1 time out of 37 you win $37*35, for a net expected profit of:
(37*35 - 36*37)/37 = (35-36)*37/37 = -$1, or 1/37th of your stake every spin.

So the risked amount is the same, the expected profit is -$1 each spin, but in the first case the variance is zero, and in the 2nd case it's higher.

What roulette bet has the highest variance? Is that the one that's "best" to play?

Depends on what you are after. a bet on a group of 18 gives you the best chance of winning, but has the smallest payout. 1 bet on 1 number has the best payout, but the hardest way to win. Some combinations can make it hard to impossible to extra hard to make a profit, so you have to pay attention. If you put 9 corner bets down you will only make a profit if you win more than 1 of the corner bets, so it doesn't really make sense to put the other one's down (unless you enjoy seeing the dealer move chips around.)

The important point in this is that you can't beat the house edge. You can assist the casino to make it harder for you to win by doing stupid shit like betting on every number in roulette, or martingaling, but you can't beat math.
2008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: March 10, 2015, 04:00:58 PM
not on dices.
No matter what you do the house edge will be the same. No way to change it

Dooglus just showed an example of how martingale actually makes it HARDER to win, because you greatly increase your chances of going broke.

Here's an absurd example.

Roulette, betting 100 on Red and 50 on red and 50 on black have the same house edge, but one bet is obviously a lot worse.

I think the answer that it would jeopardize their source is a valid answer to that question.

Agree. Frankly, I think people who keep attacking CF for "not disclosing sources" are about as clueless as the Hashtards.  In the U.S. at least, reporters have a long and storied history of keeping their sources secret and many reporters have gone to jail rather than disclose sources even when ordered to do so.  A free press is pretty damn important to democracy.  So wtf with all the "show me your sources" crap?  Get the f*(Jk over yourselves.

I have no idea how CF gets its info, but I greatly respect a news organization that can get to the truth repeatedly, over and over again, long before anyone else.  Not just with GAW but Mt Gox and other stories.

In general, news sources that have credibility when they say something without sources tend be have been around for more than 9 months, tend to be more than a few people, and tend not to go around calling people who disagree with them trolls.

They also tend to have the kind of security that makes it difficult to hack their website 5 times in 6 months.

The fact that he was right about the SEC means nothing because of this other nonsense?
2010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: March 10, 2015, 03:21:09 PM
finally broke down to do a little more math.

With a martingale strategy, if you win x in a row you win x bets.

If you lose x in a row you lose 2^(x-1) bets.

Even with 50/50 odds and 0 house edge you can see why this is a bad idea. The odds of winning x in a row and losing x in a row are exactly the same, and the downside gets exponentially bigger as x gets bigger, it's not a smart bet.

The other thing to remember, especially if you are running simulations and using autobots, is that even though long losing streaks are unlikely, using simulations/bots gives you a lot more chances to hit that unlucky streak, which leads to a lot more chances to get fucked over (because that's what happens when you hit an unlucky streak while using martingale).

Suing now will probably accomplish nothing, but that doesn't mean people should just wash their hands and say "that sucks."

People saw that it was a scam when there was time for you guys to get out, now that it's obvious, it's important to look back and realize what other people saw so that you don't get fucked over again. Sticking your head in the sand and saying, "bad investment, o well" makes it a lot more likely for you to make another bad one in the future.

The lack of communication is one thing, the fact that people supported this and let it go on with no actual tangible evidence that anything was happening or that anyone involved could do anything is something else.
2012  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: March 10, 2015, 02:05:23 PM
With only 15 units, you only need to lose 4 in a row to bust (let's say 5 in a row in case you have a few successful rounds).

You need 15 successful "runs" to double up. It's not that hard to lose 4 or 5 in a row.
2013  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: March 09, 2015, 10:52:49 PM
Not sure how you can't be sure now.

There is no explanation for being unable to ship in hand miners besides fraud. You can delude yourself into coming up with explanations for all the other things that are obvious to people with brains who weren't trying to pump up this clown show to escape, but he had miners in hand, people paid for them, people didn't get them. That's fraud.

So will you bet a lawsuit on this? And what in hand miners do you mean? As far as i know he never had his own miners. Only replacement miners he sent out way too late. Breaching a contract is something different from scamming someone.

But like i said. Sue him if you think it will work. I would be happy if he gets punished for being stupid and knowingly hurt peoples investments.

I don't have to sue anyone for anything because i wasn't stupid enough to give him any money.

He had in hand miners from hashfast, people ordered them (i have no idea why) and he didn't deliver or delivered late to many people. That is fraud.
2014  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Someone tell me how this is a scam on: March 09, 2015, 08:36:46 PM
He puts the cash in your paypal account. You send him bitcoins. He (or whoever he stole the paypal cash from) does a chargeback on the paypal cash. They win because you don't have a receipt for shipping. He has your bitcoins, you have nothing and/or a frozen paypal account.

wasn't the honor program thing just to get a few real name's and DOB's to claim "oh yes, we're following AML/KYC regs"

No, because they never collected any of that info.

the point of that was to kick the can down the road, and give the believers a reason to pump the price up so GAW could dump and not have to pay anything out for a while.
2016  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining? on: March 08, 2015, 01:22:11 PM
Thx clownius,..but I know how to do my math.

I know already that most of the cloud mining company out there were pure scam...At least Cloudminr and Bitcoin Cloud Services didnt collapse yet.

and...I'm invested into crypto elsewhere too.

What if I told you I bought mostly when btc crashed at 165-180 and now that I sell at 280 USD...On the cloudminr contract I didnt achieve ROI, but in USD value, I did.

How many more dollars would you have if you kept your coins instead of giving them to cloudminr?
2017  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is cloud mining still profitable? on: March 08, 2015, 01:18:43 PM
No. Cloud mining is not profitable now. Unless the Bitcoin price shoot up, the electricity and maintenance gonna cost 90% of what you mine in the cloud. In addition, most of the cloud mining site are ponzi based.

I don't think cloud mining uses up electricity, did you just mean maintenance?

where do the coins come from if nothing is plugged in?
2018  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is cloud mining still profitable? on: March 08, 2015, 02:44:45 AM
Has any of you guys ever made profit through these sites? I made a little through buying and selling on sites like gh.io but never made anything from holding onto the mining contract if you will.

If someone had a money making machine that would generate x dollars/paycoins/whatever why would they rent it to you for less than that?
2019  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Miners Paybase Paycoin unofficial uncensored discussion.ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: March 08, 2015, 02:43:28 AM
Why would you believe any numbers coming from them?

How could someone from Josh's church come up with the cash for a prime controller? Either from the church's coffer's or the number is complete bullshit and they floated out a huge number and a fake buyer to hope some other rube would come along and try to join the party.

Adam "seems" like an extremely religious lad. Overly extreme I believe. He has not had many jobs from what I can find and none high paying. So I have a lot of questions.

1 - Why would he admit to purchasing a PC if he did not?

2 - IF he did "collect" enough money and purchased one, where did he get it?

3- Am I to believe that he was willed or endowed such a large sum of money and that he chose to gamble it all on GAW and a PC?

4 - Did he win the lottery and decide to do the same?

5 - As a trusted member of the church and communications director did he embezzle, misappropriate or flat out steal from the church?

6 - IF he did that why would he admit to purchasing one in the first place?

7 - Why would he at any point, regardless of how he acquired that much money, risk that much on GAW and a PC?

8 - Did Josh have him take money from the church and now they are both trying to cover their asses?

Nothing about this Adam Matlack having a large sum of money or investing it in GAW and a PC has ever made any sense to me.

You are giving him way too much credit. Look at his church's website, finding ways to give them money is very prominent. He will do what he needs to do make him and his church friend Josh money.
