20142  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.4BTC/month just by posting! on: November 27, 2013, 11:37:31 PM
Hi Stunna, just a question, but the prices are fixed for this month now right?
You won't be dropping them again until Dec. 17?  Roll Eyes

He mentioned before that they are fixed until the end of a month.

The price may take a shit and die by then as well haha. Here's hoping it doesn't, but look what happened at 900.
20143  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your pic! on: November 27, 2013, 11:34:15 PM

what the....

oh god women and makeup, i'll never understand how you can hide natural beauty under a mask. (no offense, just personal taste  Smiley)

I'm with you on this all the way. Whenever I see a woman and am awed by her beauty, 9/10 they won't have any make up on or at the most have very little. Shame most women try to hide behind make-up. Not that I'm against women wearing it, I just don't think it's needed most of the time, and in Speaker's case it's obviously just more of a fashion statement/counter-culture thing or whatever.

Bwahahahahaha. Thanks for that, you've made my day. Does your dog wanna cam for BTC?

Your sarcasm detector:

Haha. Forgive me. Sarcasm is obviously notoriously difficult to detect over the interwebs.

If my dog hold paper, will you believe I'm a dog?  Grin

Haha. Some might. Pics?

You still could be a guy taking pics of his gf and pretending to be a girl just to earn some coins. Just sayin'. And not that I'm saying that is what's happening, but we all know how this works, but fair play either way. Hope you make some coins.

20146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Countries banning bitcoins on: November 27, 2013, 11:07:44 PM
Can that happen, some countries have been salivating at the idea

They can try throttle the beast, but they wont be able to kill or tame this particular one. To ban bitcoin outright you would probably need to ban the web and computers. I'm sure there's ways they could make life a little difficult for us, but 'banning' or even trying to stifle such a thing as Bitcoin will ultimately be futile and will only just push it back underground which is where this animal thrived from in the first place.

Just look at prohibition. Whether they try regulate it or ban it; it wont work, so they're going to have to adapt and deal with it.

Ban Bitcoin would mean not allowing any exchange to work and probably people offering Bitcoin on localbitcoins would risk fines/prison

Banning exchanges will just push the currency underground and people will trade it amongst themselves like they did in the beginning.  Fines/prison wont stop people. Drugs and theft are illegal and carry prison sentences, but people still commit the crimes.

20148  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your pic! on: November 27, 2013, 10:28:08 PM

Is seriously no one else gonna post a pic?

I doubt it because they probably all look like this:

And this is your average BTC-e 'trader' waiting for China to wake up so he can trade his 0.00001 BTC he probably doesn’t even have for some plebcoin:

You need to build up some rep/trust first. I doubt anybody is going to want to take the risk or escrowing with you yet.

^^^ This guy, no redeeming qualities ^^^
Also since I suck at everything

Your signature also doesn’t exactly give people much confidence haha
Oh yeah that's just a joke Tongue
So how do I build up my trust first, also I gave alternatives if they don't have much trust, any advice?

Stick around, help people out, sell or buy some items, do some trades or lend some coin, do some giveaways; there's lots of things you can do. It's not easy to gain trust on an anonymous marketplace with anonymous currencies and this is unfortunately capitalised on by scammers, so people really need to know that they can trust you.

This is so lame! I even took a cute pic for it!

Yeah, I bet you did. I saw your pic in the other thread. I think you won't have any problems earning some free coins around here haha.
20153  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I get an avatar? on: November 27, 2013, 09:26:26 PM
At any point can I?

I've no idea. Hopefully they will reinstate them at some point soon. There's a few threads about it in Meta: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0

They were disabled due to a security problem or something.

I see that other people still have them.

Yeah, those who had them prior to the security breach were unaffected it seems. It's just newbs who can't upload or change em. Annoying.

These are all getting very difficult to mine, do you think altcoins will be big?

Define 'big'. If you look at the trends they're all rising in value and it's highly probable they will continue to rise: http://coinmarketcap.com/

Well I don't know, but at the moment he's just some guy who claims to have lost millions. What's to stop any attention whore going to the media and telling them the same story. I would think generally The Guardian require some sort of proof of something before they publish unfounded shit.
20159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where can I sell BBQCoin? on: November 27, 2013, 08:11:44 PM
In the end, I sold them here (http://bter.com). Seems to be a decent exchange, got about $64 worth of bitcoin out of them Smiley

Wise choice. Now go and buy some FTC or some other rising coin - or just keep the BTC Smiley

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/nov/27/hard-drive-bitcoin-landfill-site
Quote
Buried somewhere under four feet of mud and rubbish, in the Docksway landfill site near Newport, Wales, in a space about the size of a football pitch is a computer hard drive worth more than £4m. It belonged to James Howells, who threw it out when he was clearing up his desk in mid-summer and discovered the part, rescued from a defunct Dell laptop. He found it in a drawer and put it in a bin. And then last Friday he realised that it held a digital wallet with 7,500 Bitcoins created for almost nothing in 2009 - and then worth about the same.

This guy? Has he offered any proof he even had the coins cos I don't see any.

Quote
There's a pot of gold there for someone … I'm even thinking of registering www.returnmybitcoin.com. It's available," he said. He has also set up a Bitcoin wallet for donations aimed at recovering the hard drive.

Probably just begging for coins.
