2022  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-28] Giant Bitcoin Merchant Bank Posts Losses Over $130 Million on: July 31, 2018, 09:58:39 AM
They lost over $100 million trading? Why didn't they simply quit trading and wait for things to look up again? Blimey. I'd rather be paying my staff to play video games for a year or two rather than chase those losses until there's nothing left.

this loss could be and probably is the result of their global portfolio price drop
since all of the cryptocurrencies took a nosedive, they were bound to have losses
unless they simply been shorting all the time Smiley but if they invested heavily into coins, they may get a good revenue come end of the year
which I hope is happening along with the price rise

I don't know who in the right mind would buy a new contract with them after this
but at least they didn't go the direct scam route
the existing customers at least will be able to cut their losses and exit only losing a fraction, not the whole sum
but if bitcoin price plummets to 6000$ area again tomorrow?
and it lasts for over a month, would HF stop operations once again?

what is the purpose of it? would anyone want to alter your records?
this not something news worthy much, probably Credly just sponsored a project or two for the institute

2026  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🌟Bitvest🌟 - Investor Plinko, Dice, Slot, Roulette, Bitspin | ETH/LTC Launched! on: July 30, 2018, 12:11:54 PM
I do not think that it is pretty hard to understand when it comes to bot. Most of them using their bot or even seuntjie bot which they are supported by. And let the bot do everything while they can enjoying some freebies by make the chat lively. I think it is pretty good to have this convertion on tokens towards the btc. Although it is not like other site ico but still it is good to have the tokens as well. And more over they have quest which is you can get more of it but the chain quest sometime is a little bit hard to get

Dice is the only game i play more often that might be the reason I found it confusing to chose the settings. Does seuntjie bot supports games other than Dice?

What setting do you mean? What I saw from their bot, it is pretty easy to understand and they even have the question mark button which you can know what is to put on the blank space. May be it is not like the one you used to play on other site as well but overall it is just the same bot with some variances too. Or if you want to know more, you should try by yourselves, with some low balance so you will know the result better. Or you can ask mods directly

don't think seuntjie bot supports games other than dice, but I can be mistaken
strangely enough I have never tried it at Bitvest-usually I roll manually or use the inbuilt autobet which is more than enough to satisfy your...autobetting needs
there is nothing unusual about it,really:it is not as complicated as,say, yolodice's one but has all the features neccessary
as for the tokens, its ingame currency, rather than tokens in a general sense,no ICO,no possible disappointment-only free stuff that you have a chance to turn into
pretty solid btc,eth or ltc once you reach a certain threshold
2027  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-25] India’s Supreme Court Postpones Verdict on Cryptocurrency Ban Again on: July 30, 2018, 06:53:31 AM
Listen, guys, I have studied the subcontinent closely. The problem subcontinent suffers from is corruption. To hide their corruption Bitcoin and other cryptos are a perfect tool for them, But the main issue here is that these countries are suffering from low tax revenues which is devaluing their currencies. If they approve cryptos/Bitcoin that means the majority of IT sector will start using it for payments which in return will mean even less tax revenue for the governments, which may lead to hyperinflation and collapse of these currencies. Cryptos won't get a green light anytime soon, especially from the subcontinent that's a reality. Pakistan and Bangladesh may follow what India decides.

Do you guys really think that supreme court will approve a piece of tech which is extremely harmful to its currency? Being optimistic is a good thing but let's be real for a moment.

corruption is a problem that every country is suffering from,India is not much different in this regard
but banning bitcoins will simply lose control over ANY possible taxes or revenue from crypto
what I think is happening now is that they are trying to evaluate the cons and pros and I would not be so pessimistic about
cryptos getting a green light in India,CB is an institution pretty independent from the goverment(s) and there will be an interesting
conflict of interests-Central Bank is not interested in legalizing it,while the goverment should be

2.62 BTC profit from 0.0002 btc bet, anyone?  Cheesy

Just an amazing hunter, good luck too the other hunters out there!

Dre, think this is a challenge to you:)

That's an amazing win. I am eager to know in how many rolls he hit this? I managed to hit 9900x payout a couple of times but, I always bet with less than 200 sats when hunting for 9900x.

an epic win indeed, but would love to know how much money did he spend to get that hit
9900x can be elusive and I know people who rolled > 300.000 rolls without hitting a single one
some streaks are very difficult to get through,20k per roll sounds like small change compared to 2 bitcoins
but 10.000 rolls at 20k is exactly 2 bitcoins Smiley,so you have to run a nice little bankroll in order to be able to hunt

Hi

Thanks for the free lottery, it's always nice when you can get something for nothing  Smiley

And the fact you can win something by matching only 2 balls makes you better than national lottery in my country where you have to match min. 3.

I just found one little bug: when changing password you aren't asked for current password, wasn't even sure if it's bad design but turns out it is.
Or maybe two... I don't remember being asked to verify my e-mail when registering my account, but verification e-mail showed up in my inbox, which was little surprise. But as I said: I don't remember such message, it doesn't mean there wasn't one, maybe I just missed one.

Good luck everyone!

a really cool concept  and a good site, despite a couple early day bugs
I have been playing free lottery for several days now and have matched 2 numbers on 3 occasions
but what I really like is the concept, was very sceptical at the beginning since no fixed house edge means something fishy usually
but their team found a way to fund the lottery and it is working (judging by the numbers in the stake pool)
at the moment I'm freeloading like a boss, haha, but I will definitely promote the site and hope to get many affiliates very soon
also pondering some stake pool contribution too
all in all,so far so good, well done 8bet-you really managed to create something different from the omnipresent casinos, lotteries and dice sites
oh and please make the auto logout timing longer,it is annoying to find yourself logged out every hour or so

2030  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-27] Google Play Officially Bans Cryptocurrency Miners on: July 28, 2018, 07:58:28 PM
Google will no longer allow cryptocurrency mining apps on the Android Play Store

Earlier this year, the search engine giant banned crypto mining extensions from the Chrome Web Store, including the ones that were solely focused on mining. In addition, Google updated its Financial Services Policy last month prohibiting ads relating to “Cryptocurrencies and related content (including but not limited to initial coin offerings, cryptocurrency exchanges, cryptocurrency wallets, and cryptocurrency trading advice)”.

The recently updated Play Store developer policy states:

“We don’t allow apps that mine cryptocurrency on devices. We permit apps that remotely manage the mining of cryptocurrency.”

Currently, I'm still exploiting ETN on my Android device. Maybe the information you give is just a rumor. I just heard that Google Play banned for apps that contain ads related to ICO projects

if its an app that you have installed already then how Google can influence that?
they were supposed to ban the mining apps along with the ICO related ads and cryptocurrency related ads in general
think in this particular case they threw the baby with the bath water
they will both lose alot of income from those adds, scam projects will find a way to advertise
but legit crypta projects will have less exposure

2033  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK DONT PLAY on: July 28, 2018, 04:32:17 PM
These types of deposit agreements are necessary for Casinos to not be taken advantage of by free rolling users. When you make a deposit with a bonus you agree that you NEED to play a certain amount of money or spins, or whatever the agreement is, before you can withdraw the money. It's industry standard and you being mad at what you agreed to is pretty ridiculous. Good luck on your future gambling!

The "industry standard" is actually more like 35X the deposited amount being rolled over on real money casino sites.

2X roll over is quite low. The only other "solution" a bitcoin casino could do is to remove the bonus amount added on your balance and give the portion of your deposited amount leftover. That's not "easy math" though, so the agreement has the 2X requirement.

this is a different case,it is not about a rollover for free or deposit bonuses
it is true that most of the casinos have a 35x-40x++ bonus rollover requirement
at fortunejack you have to wager any of your deposit twice over before you can withdraw
they introduced it to prevent money laundering as they say, since many people would deposit coins
then withdraw only paying a small withdrawal fee, using the site as a free mixer
although I struggle to recall any other crypto casino that has same draconian rollover requirements on your deposits

We also will be moving funds to our address to cover the new payouts.

well, this is the right way to do it
there are questions still as to how are you planning to pay the jackpot if it hits
but at least this lottery makes sense now
doesn't mean that it is going to be any popular, though,do not get me wrong-
you have to be a real marketing genius to make it work

on one hand there were too many rogue and plain scam apps that would do bad things to your devices
on the other hand, some of the apps that are now no longer available
were the reasons some people learned about bitcoins, mining and cryptocurrencies in general
if I were Google I'd rather focus on removing scam apps faster, some of them manage to sit there for days and get hundreds of thousands of downloads
2037  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-27]Charlie Lee: Bitcoin to Gold, Litecoin to Silver and XRP to Diamonds on: July 27, 2018, 07:50:05 PM
One thing that I really disagree is Lee comparing XRP to diamond. I don't know what's his reasoning behind, I'm literally shaking my heads right now. LOL. XRP=Diamond? Really. hahaha.

The comparison actually works decently. Diamonds have no true market value, it's just an inflated value based on perceived value. If you buy a diamond for $10,000 you won't be able to sell it a couple years later for $12,000, hell you might not even be able to get $7,000 for it. There's no market value that you can judge a diamond. It really is similar to XRP, just something that has a fake value.

There is some value in them as they're used in industry (drills, cutting edges, saw blades) and in optical devices due to their refractive properties. That said, you are of course right about their price being artificially pumped because we have the means to produce diamonds that are also hard and refractive, just like the original ones, but somehow aren't as expensive as the natural ones. This additional value given to the original diamonds is purely speculative and baseless.

the value is created artificially by cutting the supply lines
a couple of monopolists control the diamond market, not allowing the huge stream of cheap diamonds to drive the prices down
XRP is similar as it has been mentioned above - it has one party holding almost unlimited supply of the coins
and if they wanted they could manipulate the price at will
remarkably enough,Lee hasn't even mentioned ETH Smiley

as this is the first time Winklewoss's ETF has been rejected
this is a long process and there is none that can say:this year they ae going to approve it
besides don't blame the usual correction on the ETF rejection,if there is  a connection,it is not that simple
as ETF rejected-price dropped (or didn't rise as much as it could)
2039  Economy / Gambling / Re: POWERBALL ON BITCOIN - Uses Real Powerball Drawings, 100% Verifiable on: July 27, 2018, 01:29:28 PM
-snip-

You are completely missing the point here. The issue isn't how your prizes are structured, the issue is you can't afford to pay any winners. As soon as someone does win, you admit that you are relying on using future investors' funds to pay them off. That's pretty much a Ponzi scheme.

exactly, you seriously consider anyone will play a game that is relying on the jackpot to never hit?
your payment structure doesn't matter as soon as you cannot cover the top prize
if your payment structure was like 1$ for 2 numbers ....  250$ jackpot (the money you say you currently have)
this is the right way to run such a lottery, but of course, you think that "win 100000 bitcoins" is too good a marketing slogan
and people will que to buy your tickets, take your time and scroll down the pages in gambling, projects sections
there are dozens of failed lotteries like this, please do not create yet another one-not going to work
2040  Economy / Gambling / Re: GoUp.bet | Provably Fair Dice | ** 10 LTC Promo Started ** | Completed on: July 27, 2018, 11:26:20 AM
We will soon start a wagering contest but this  time on all coins

All coins? Are you sure? What I would suggest if you open new wagering one coin each, with this I believe the prize will be huge instead of you do all coins wagering contest. I just wondering when and how much prize are you going to put in this kind of event. Because it is a wagering contest, you should do this better then a profit contest

Why not? The amount of the prize is not depending on how many coins count towards the contest. I believe the site has its own limit of fund for promo, so lets say the limit is 1btc then this 1btc will be the max prize. If the site needs to make contest for each coin then the 1btc will be spitted. As it is a new site, owner need to be so effective in doing promotions.

What I mean is if they doing this together is will be less effective than doing it one by one. Lets say if like you said 1 btc for the promo of only bitcoin wagered and have another amount for doge and ltc I think player will get the better amount instead of giving 1 btc to the one who wager the most of each coin. The splitting will be more because of each coin that they hold, unless they have enough budget to let this three coins run together. Let us see when OP start to holding this event

This is new site. Admins are doing their best to make more improvement. From the chat of the site I learn they will add roulette game soon. Now they are testing it. And after lunching roulette game the wagering competition will start. As they new we have to support them. And they have already successfully run a 10 LTC competition.

I don't think running 1 btc worth of promotions will be wise for a new site, unless they have money to burn
10 ltc is not a huge amount of coins, but it was a good promotion and it served its purpose
you have to get the best return for your buck in terms of promotion-if your promo that was worth 1 btc
brought 20 new players and the same amount of players could have been acquired for ,say 10 ltc worth
then the second one is way more cost effective, think they are doing just that
start small,try to grow big
