2021  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 19, 2015, 04:51:07 PM
So many are solely focused on the current price but the infrastructure keeps getting bigger and stronger so that's the main clue as to where the price will go in due time. The price has held in a narrow alley for quite some time now.

Nope, I have good stuff around here these days. We have plenty of more decent things here for others to get used to. Hello?
2023  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Hillary Clinton Trustworthy? on: May 19, 2015, 04:04:50 AM
Hillary is so to blame on this Libya situation. She lied about what was going on down there as the Sec of State but her aide Mr, Blumenthal had advised her so many times. Hillary was caught being such a fraud in this and I hope republicans and democrats alike will see this.
2024  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Western nutjobs destroyed Lybia - another of their wrecks. Here are the results on: May 19, 2015, 03:57:46 AM
The fact is that Hillary destroyed this country and let the arms to float up into Syria. She should have never let Gadaffi get wasted so to let ISIS take over and find a nice new way to make a come up. Her and her neocon allies dealt this hand and now the country is ripe for radical Islam to do their thing. Not good.
2025  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust Observer on: May 19, 2015, 03:35:31 AM
The GBTC market closed at the all time low at 27.15 dollars per share (~280 dollars per bitcoin) with volume of 4950 shares (less than 490 bitcoins).

Meanwhile, the volume of Bitcoin Tracker One was ~949 bitcoins.

thats actually pretty nice news. More people will want to invest as the price becomes more reasonable.

no i think is bad ie bad for these type of products. if the early adopters to something (here a way of getting into the market without actually owning bitcoin) get burnt  - as i assume they bought their shares at a much higher value a year ago - and in the longer term there is no material benefit (premium) from doing something (eg buying GBTC over bitcoin itself) then GBTC will just wither on the vine.
There is no reason GBTC should have been double the market price of bitcoin to begin with. Its called arbitrage although GBTC doesnt have the best system for it...
The interesting thing is that arbitrage is going well for those that took advantage of it up to this point. The case is closed now considering things are so close so it will be rowdy if there is anymore of this such action going forward.
2026  Economy / Speculation / Re: Critical Levels - EW analysis on: May 19, 2015, 03:30:59 AM
With the extra demand created by XBT and subsequently by GBTC, we should see some uptrend for a period of time. Day one on the dip should be understandable but further movement will likely be something different. The next days should see a hallelujah factor, so thx for chiming in.
2027  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2015-05-18 AutomatedTrader Nasdaq Stockholm lists bitcoin-based certificate on: May 19, 2015, 02:57:43 AM
It's only day one so plenty can happen as time moves forward but someone(s) took the opportunity to jack everything lower today which makes people wonder what will happen in the forthcoming days. Demand should pick up most would think.
2028  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-05-18] Bitcoin launched on Stockholm exchange on: May 19, 2015, 02:54:25 AM
It was interesting volume but then we all saw what happened afterwards, down she went. I just want to know where these sold coins/shares were bought from cause normally we'd think that that would have helped the price up.
2029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poloniex changing their ToS -- Needs verification for withdrawals next week. on: May 19, 2015, 02:47:45 AM
I traded at poloneix for the last few years but have pulled my coinage many months ago and happy I did so. Just transfer over to bitfinex and you'll be fine at this point unless you have no problem with P's new process. However, trading these days can be risky esp on lev so perhaps just buy/hold and put the funds back in your wallets.
2030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there an actual Bitcoin bank yet? on: May 19, 2015, 02:43:29 AM
I would say that Coinbase is a bank of sorts and it doesn't offer interest, just security up to this point. While most here would say that you should be your own bank and I agree with them, there needs to be trusted third parties for average type folks to feel safe in holding bitcoins. More of this will and is coming and long time folks need to hate on it less and less and embrace these third parties to help newer folks to become comfortable w/ keeping their coins. Otherwise, adoption is limited severely and news about this stuff will suffer.

Good for Rand bringing attention to obvious waste. If more people knew the real details, it would be much easier to elect genuine fiscal conservatives.
And this is just another segment of larger amounts of waste that Rand has been portraying on a regular basis and I post it here when I see it just to spread the word. Sadly, it's really hard for real fiscal conservatives/libertarians et al to win primaries when the big money goes to the insider spender incumbents especially in US Senate races unless someone is retiring, same for House races. The more of us that are awakened and take action by donating, spreading the word, becoming delegates and pushing social media on the low, the better off we'll be. And, then there's bitcoin which will help the future as the economy goes down and more rational visionaries w/ free market principles get wealthier - most of us being younger and all.
2032  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The United States is where regime change is most badly needed. on: May 19, 2015, 02:22:07 AM
The OP is right on but most ordinary people out there would think that by getting rid of Obama then the regime would be changed, officially. Aside from Rand getting elected, the next republican or Hillary would continue on the same path. The foreign policy advisers that most of these candidates use are from certain think tanks in and around DC. They've been recycled for decades and you get the same people showing up in democratic and republican regimes and that why things keep going along w/ no major policy changes. Interventionism is the main foreign policy.

This is absolutely correct. And it is even worse, that is the tricks "they" went through to make the whole thing to be legal on the outside.

The regime change we need is for the American people to realize that the 9th Amendment is the key to individuals throwing off the shackles of the government - including things like the IRS - so that they can use the common law of man against the evildoers in government. The base for doing so is in the 9th Amendment.

The Cosntitution is reasonably good. It is the lack of knowledge of the common people. Before we make any kind of regime change that destroys the Constitution, we need to understand the basics of law and life.

Smiley
Very astute point! You're like the first person to have ever brought up the 9th Amendment but are very correct in doing so. So many people who act like they revere the Constitution and Bill of Rights have glossed over that Amendment and most of them past the first two. I think the 9th and 10th are two of the most important and specifically the 9th that states that individuals have rights that should be recognized outside of what is enumerated in the BoRs like privacy and every other corollary of the right to life.

The rub is that w/ most of the media controlled, those that are active voters, donors and such get their news through this medium and the rest are stuck trying their best (us and other liberty lovers) while often being laughed at or ridiculed. Thankfully, Rand is running a decent campaign as a US Senator and hopefully he's done and is doing what it takes to win over more of those that participate in the system, namely retirees. Hopefully, he can get his targeted audiences to also lend a hand and tip the scales against the neocon dominated press and most of the GOP. I believe he's done what he had to to placate his fellow Senior US Senator from KY - McConnell (Senate Majority Leader) in certain situations w/o selling out to get his support and that of his donors. We'll see how it turns out but lets be active in the process to help effect change.

Why would they wan to promote terrorism at home?
It would be a nice justification for metadata collection and other mass surveillance activities. Almost all regimes in history used such provocations in order to whitewash the violations of own legislation.
They're either collecting too much data in that that bad guys fall through the cracks/lost in the shuffle or they know exactly what these guys intend to do and allow it to happen to justify more money, control and surveillance powers from and over the population.

It would behoove all western countries to slow down their allotment of immigrants and do some serious background checking and only allow entrance based upon the results. Unfortunately, you're gonna have to profile to focus resources on the most likely candidates that may be coming and that could be up to no good.

Clinton Friend’s Libya Role Blurs Lines of Politics and Business

When the Clintons last occupied the White House, Sidney Blumenthal cast himself in varied roles: speechwriter, in-house intellectual and press corps whisperer. Republicans added another, accusing Mr. Blumenthal of spreading gossip to discredit Republican investigators, and forced him to testify during President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial.

Now, as Hillary Rodham Clinton embarks on her second presidential bid, Mr. Blumenthal’s service to the Clintons is once again under the spotlight. Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, a Republican who is leading the congressional committee investigating the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, plans to subpoena Mr. Blumenthal, 66, for a private transcribed interview.

Mr. Gowdy’s chief interest, according to people briefed on the inquiry, is a series of memos that Mr. Blumenthal — who was not an employee of the State Department — wrote to Mrs. Clinton about events unfolding in Libya before and after the death of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi. According to emails obtained by The New York Times, Mrs. Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time, took Mr. Blumenthal’s advice seriously, forwarding his memos to senior diplomatic officials in Libya and Washington and at times asking them to respond. Mrs. Clinton continued to pass around his memos even after other senior diplomats concluded that Mr. Blumenthal’s assessments were often unreliable.

But an examination by The New York Times suggests that Mr. Blumenthal’s involvement was more wide-ranging and more complicated than previously known, embodying the blurry lines between business, politics and philanthropy that have enriched and vexed the Clintons and their inner circle for years.

While advising Mrs. Clinton on Libya, Mr. Blumenthal, who had been barred from a State Department job by aides to President Obama, was also employed by her family’s philanthropy, the Clinton Foundation, to help with research, “message guidance” and planning of commemorative events, according to foundation officials. During the same period, he also worked on and off as a paid consultant to Media Matters and American Bridge, organizations that helped lay the groundwork for Mrs. Clinton’s 2016 campaign.

Outside Independence Hall, Rand Paul Calls On Obama To End NSA Program

PHILADELPHIA — Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul traveled to the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution on Monday to call on President Obama to end the NSA’s program that collects bulk phone record data of American citizens.

“Here in front of Independence Hall, I call for the president to obey the law,” the Kentucky senator said in an afternoon press conference, surrounded by supporters with campaign signs. “The court said last week that it is illegal to collect all of your phone records, all of the time, without a warrant with your name on it. I call on the president today to immediately end the bulk collection of our phone records.”

On the Independence Mall at the corner of 5th and Market Streets, Paul railed against the NSA’s program: “I don’t know anyone named Mr. Verizon. That is not a valid warrant. That is a general warrant. And that’s what we fought the revolution over. Our Founding Fathers would be appalled to know that we are writing one single warrant and collecting everyone’s phone records all the time.”

Asked whether he will filibuster the upcoming vote on the extension of the Patriot Act, which the NSA uses to carry out the bulk collection program, Paul replied: “I will do everything possible. The rules are tricky in the Senate, so I don’t know what I can promise. But we will do everything possible, including filibustering the Patriot Act, to stop that.”

Rand Paul: Iraq War Architects Shouldn’t Get To Keep Going On Sunday Shows
“History has already begun to harshly judge those who made this country’s decisions after 9/11,” Paul writes in his forthcoming book.

Republican Sen. Rand Paul writes in his forthcoming book that it is troublesome that those who planned the Iraq War are still invited on Sunday morning political talk shows to give their opinions.

“Let’s take for example the war in Iraq,” writes Paul. “Unlike Mrs. Clinton, had I been senator at the time of the Iraq War, I would have never voted for it, and it troubles me that we were sold the war on false pretense.”

“It’s also bothersome that the mainstream media continues to invite the architects of the Iraq invasion on to share their opinions on Sunday morning shows,” he adds. “History has already begun to harshly judge those who made this country’s decisions after 9/11.”

Yeah, this definitely deserves a thread of its own. I posted the full surrounding details about Hillary in the trustworthy thread. Rand was the one that called her out about this back at the Benghazi cmte hearing and she claimed she didn't know if any arms trafficking was going on from Libya to Syria which was a lie considering the Defense Intelligence Agency point blank said they knew what was going on. When Fox reported on this ordeal earlier, you'll note that when talking about Hillary's testimony at the cmte hearing they didn't mention Rand being the one grilling her. This being such a big revelation that Rand called out up front and considering that Hillary is the main candidate for the other side, it's crucial and beyond ridiculous that Rand was mentioned during this because they don't want to make him look like the top person to take out Hillary should she become the democratic nominee.

Sen. Rand Paul Releases Third Edition of ‘The Waste Report’
Uncovers Thousands of Dollars of Waste in the U.S. Department of Education

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Rand Paul today released the third edition to ‘The Waste Report,’ which is an ongoing project highlighting egregious examples of waste within the U.S. government.

The third edition of the ‘The Waste Report’ exposes thousands of dollars of waste in the U.S. Department of Education. In the coming weeks, the U.S. Department of Education will offer a multi-day writing course designed to teach twenty of their employees how to write an e-mail in the workplace.
‘The Waste Report’ can be found HERE or below.

U.S. Department of Education - $240/Hour E-mail Class

It is on your computer, it is on your phone. From sharing recipes to writing serious communication; email has become a part of everyday life. In fact Jacob Morgan of Forbes declared in a 2013 article, “Everyone has an email account.”[1]

Perhaps this is why earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Education (Dep. of Ed), of all federal agencies, awarded a contract (at about $240 per hour) for an “Email Writing Course” to be given to twenty of their employees (in two cohorts).[2][3] According to the solicitation, participants should come away knowing things like, “when to write an email,” and the “[p]roper tone and etiquette,” of an email.[4] Keep in mind; these are not students, but federal workers at the Dep. of Ed’s Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

As pervasive as email is, one would expect this course to be a simple one or two hour “tune-up” on writing skills. Instead the Dep. of Ed, is asking for a two to three DAY course. Even some prospective venders were skeptical of the time requirement. In an addendum to the original solicitation, the Dep. of Ed. responded to vender questions, including one that rightly asked how many hours of training was expected for each session. The response was shocking, “The Department anticipates that these days will be full days of training.” Another asked if the two to three day requirement is meant to provide for both cohorts (which would be somewhat more reasonable). The response, “The requirement is for 2 separate offerings of a 2-day or 3-day course.”[5]
