2021  Other / Archival / Re: Are you worried? on: January 24, 2018, 10:09:25 AM
It is not the first time the market is in correction. As I've readen in this Forum, every January is very common to have low prices in the crypto market.
Imagine the positive side of this correction, You can see it also as an opportunity to buy more cryptos at much lower prices.
If you are a holder and you have faith in your investment you have nothing to worry.
The market will find the way back to higher prices. It is happening all the time.
2022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to 100% invest into 1 alt coin, which would it be? on: January 24, 2018, 09:38:57 AM
I think I would choose Litecoin. I think it is undervalued with great potential.
2023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to make own Ledger to my hard rive for the safety of BTC & etc. on: January 24, 2018, 09:04:49 AM
It depends.
If you want to have your personal keys stored in an external HD, you can, but make some more copies to CDs or USB sticks because an HD can be broken.
If you want to make transactions, you can use cold storage but you need a second (always offline) PC. You can read the procedure here: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/
it is about electrum and Bitcoin but the procedure is the same in all coins and wallets.
If you want to check the balance you can create a watching-only version of your addresses (under the same link).
I hope I've helped.
2024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SOUTH KOREA BACK IN THE GAME? 24.2% isn't too bad on: January 24, 2018, 08:17:26 AM
Back in the game? Paying 24.2% taxes? I don't think so.
With so high taxation (I suppose it was much lower) I think the exchanges will move to other tax-friendly countries to avoid it.
At the end, all the taxes are paid by the customers. Bithub would increase the fees due to the higher taxation and the people would move to other crypto exchanges because of this increase.
What remains is to find out what will happen to the 200000 signature petition.
2025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Next Bitcoin: Buy Ethereum Now or Wait? on: January 24, 2018, 07:46:49 AM
When there is a price correction of Bitcoin in the cryptocurrency market, usually this affects the price of all coins.
It seems that there is a kind of connection of the cryptos, probably because the investor's behavior is the same in all crises:
Selling at lower prices and buying in higher.
All the people in this Forum know and react in a manner opposite to what is expected.
It is the best time to buy ETH or whatever coin you want. Prices are low now.
2026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WILL LITECOIN RAISES TO 1000$ THIS DEC on: January 23, 2018, 06:59:39 AM
If you check the Litecoins Chart, you'll see that it had an almost stable price throughout 2015 and 2016, and then it had a price rally in 2017 from below $10 to 322 in December.
It means that this coin has potential to grow more the coming months but I am not sure if it is possible to reach 1000 the end of this year. Charlie Lee's move to sell his own currency had a negative impact on the investors.
2027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: when btc will go 10x in value does this mean my alts go too ? on: January 23, 2018, 06:28:46 AM
If you check this site:

https://www.worldcoinindex.com/trending/overview

you can see the price difference between today and that 1 year before.
I'm just copying the prices (yours could be slightly different)
BTC 1051%, ETH 9070%, XRP 19269%, LTC 4445%, XEM 26086%

That, in my opinion, means that the alts price move independently of the price of bitcoin, and sometimes can bring more profit. You can lose your money too, check yourself, you'll find many negative (red) prices among them.
2028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: i think to store my salary in crypto wallets. it's good or bad decision? on: January 23, 2018, 06:09:03 AM
If you can pay your rent with cryptos and your bills and generally your living, I think it is an excellent idea.
If not, there is a problem, because you have to make many transactions fiat to cryptos and vice versa.
I think that the best option would be to invest a small percentage of your salary to cryptos and wait until the day everyone is going to use cryptos.
I am not sure if this day is near, but I am very optimistic.

2030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying my coffee with cryptos! on: January 22, 2018, 09:08:56 AM
The best option would be to chose more than 3 alt coins for that. Litecoin should be one of them.
Your customers will have different coins and you don't want to lose them. The most difficult would be to find suppliers accepting cryptos and even if you find, you need to pay your taxes. You can't pay them in cryptos yet so I think that you should accept fiat too.
If your crypto customers would pay slightly less for a coffee than your fiat customers, then you would introduce new people to cryptocurrency.
2031  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to do micro payments with bitcoin? on: January 22, 2018, 08:43:15 AM
For the time being, you can't the fees are too high unless both addresses are segwit.
2032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Ethereum? on: January 22, 2018, 07:55:36 AM
Ethereum is one of the newest alts and quite similar with Bitcoin. It has a blockchain and a programming language for smart contracts.
Many ICOs and other cryptocurrencies depend on this. It is used for transactions because of the low fees and by the application developers.
It is also used for mining if you don't have an ASIC you can mine ETH and buy it bitcoins.
I think it can easily displace BTC from the first place.
2033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum cold storage on: January 22, 2018, 07:31:50 AM
If you are using Windows, press the green button, (Clone or Download) and then download zip.
Unzip the file to your computer as usual.
If you are using Linux, follow this link from GitHubHelp:

https://help.github.com/articles/cloning-a-repository/

You will find many other helpful pieces of information if you read the Help page of MyEtherWallet.
Everything is explained there.

- go to offline and use that tx you created to sign using your private key using the repository clone you made in first step.

This might be a dumb question, but how do you "use" the repository clone exactly? I'd be interested in switching to an offline signing system like this, but I've only used the Myetherwallet browser GUI. Are you saying there's no GUI for doing this?
2034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much potential for Altcoins this year? on: January 22, 2018, 07:04:16 AM
If you check the previous year's market price, you'll find out that the alts have given higher gains than Bitcoin. I believe that this is going to continue happening the current year because Bitcoin is facing many problems with high fees and the propaganda of his forked clones.
I am very optimistic.
A friend of this forum bought $1000 in the first 100 coins according to the cap list and he has already doubled his initial investment.
2035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it still worth it to mine bitcoins? What are alternatives for ASIC miners? on: January 21, 2018, 12:14:15 PM
Without miners, bitcoin can't exist.
The miners make new coins (there are less than 4,2 million left to be mined until 2120) and they approve the transactions.
Your 5 Gh/s ASIC can't be used today. Even having free electricity you would mine bitcoins worthing $3,09 a year.
If you have cheap power cost and you can invest so much for an ASIC miner do it, otherwise you can mine other coins using GPUs and buy with them bitcoins.
2036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do I need to sell all alts? on: January 21, 2018, 11:49:46 AM
I suggest you, divide your coins into two groups.
The first one to coins you trust and you believe that have good potential to grow in the future.
The second one to the rest coins you have. Keep the coins of your first group. If you have gained profit from some coins of the second group sell them and buy from those of the first group.
Keep only those with lower price and wait until you have profit.
I don't know if it works but it worth trying.
2037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trending market and how to identify it? on: January 21, 2018, 11:22:14 AM
I think this is something that you can't determine easy. How is it possible to know which coin is going to move up?
In my opinion, you can find a solution to this problem by buying when all the crypto market is low, as it was some days ago.
Then you know that it will move up, at least the majority of them.
The other solution is to be a holder, your profit is probably lower, but in long term, you are going to have profit.
2038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Regulation Must Be International on: January 21, 2018, 10:54:54 AM
I am sure it will never happen.
It's like real money, in some parts of the world you can deposit your money (Switzerland, Panama) and you are sure none will share your bank account. The same will be in cryptos in some countries it will be illegal to buy or use them and in some others not.
At the end when having cryptos will be common among people they will start accepting it for tax paying and it will be legalized.
2039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The price is dropping so when is the right time to buy? on: January 20, 2018, 09:26:26 PM
You never know when the price stops falling.
You can buy the coins you want with your available money at once, or (as I do) divide your money in 3 - 4 parts and start buying using every time one part of them. I think it is called dollar-cost averaging.
This strategy is a way to avoid the volatility of the market because you are averaging prices over time.
You took a good desision buying at the dips, you'll never make money just sitting on the sidelines
2040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do big investors cash out? on: January 20, 2018, 08:50:26 PM
Tier 4 allows $500k withdrawals per month. If you have two accounts you can withdraw a million in one month.
