2021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How in the FUCK are you supposed to know what's legit? on: December 30, 2014, 02:09:00 AM

Seriously...between each community fluffing their own coin and the haters on the "neutral" boards shitting on every coin that's just past it's prime, how are you supposed to know what coin is the most prudent investment?

I understand that "research" is worthwhile, but there's only so much you can learn from a coin's website.

Get inside the consumer's head and choose the coins that they'll embrace.

A currency's long-term success will always be determined by its rate of adoption.
2022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin & Altcoin community survey on: December 30, 2014, 02:03:02 AM
Great survey! Just finished with my closing remarks.....

"The bitcoin community must begin to realize the importance of payroll integration. This is the only way to offset the tremendous selling pressure caused by mainstream merchant POS adoption."
2023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Country or US State to Live off of Selling on LocalBitcoins? on: December 30, 2014, 01:52:46 AM
Hi there I have a nice amount of bitcoins and am looking for a good place to move where I can live off of selling bitcoins on LocalBitcoins.com
From bitcoins to the local currency.

The criteria is the following:

1) Somewhere im not going to get arrested for not  having licenses (like those guys in Florida)
2) Somewhere I may be able to exchange btc for a markup (possibly a country with expensive or unreliable exchanges )

Thanks.

Well, South Carolina requires no money transmitter license.  Smiley
2024  Other / Meta / Re: Who is the best poster of 2014 ? on: December 30, 2014, 01:51:31 AM
Thousands of people created millions of thread in BitcoinTalk in 2014. Some of them were very interesting and enlightening. Some enriched us with its data and analysis. Standing on the end of 2014, whom do you think was the best poster of 2014 ? Please make your judgement by quality, not quantity Wink

...It would be great if you mention the preferred posts of your favorite poster. Smiley

I vote for Kelsey.  Cheesy
2025  Economy / Speculation / Re: Alternate Cryptocurrencies Keep The Price Of Bitcoin Down on: December 30, 2014, 01:41:44 AM
In my honest opinion alternate cryptocurrencies are a joke because a new cryptocurrency gets created every week.

There are new websites created each week, that does not make Google.com a joke.

The price of bitcoin is being held down due to ALL the attention being paid to the POS side (sell side) of integration.

Not until we see an equal amount of attention being paid to payroll integration (buy side) will the scales become balanced.
2026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the best way to earn bitcoin? on: December 28, 2014, 04:23:29 AM

2027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Altcoin(s) will prevail? on: December 26, 2014, 01:51:27 AM
I think the coins that consumers embrace will prevail.

Creating a cryptocurrency is a little like making a musical recording. It's tough to predict which ones will become hit records.
2028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: December 24, 2014, 02:28:39 PM
Yes. These are all good ideas.  Cool

I also think this is the perfect time for new people to get involved. The price is very low and the currency has an ever increasing potential. Eventually, people are going to want a digital gold, and there's no better name in all the world than Goldcoin (GLD).
2029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Does Bitcoin Appeal to Average Consumers? on: December 22, 2014, 06:30:51 AM
I'm a student writing a paper on how Bitcoin appeals to the average consumer. I'm suggesting
that even if all the alleged flaws with Bitcoin were fixed, what would incentivise the consumer to adopt it?

When the consumer grows tired of quantitative easing, the Bitcoin will become appealing. I'm not sure about which flaws you speak of, but decentralized currencies are in fact the future of money. The future won't come in the form of a single digital currency, but the winners will be decentralized.

The reason for this is simple. Decentralized digital currencies have the rarity characteristics of Gold combined with the transaction properties of digital money.

2031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difficulty Lowering Question on: December 20, 2014, 10:27:24 PM
after all if your not keeping the bitcoin you're mining.. then why the hell are you mining!..

I think most crypto miners are like Gold miners... they mine, sell the gold, and collect the cash.

This is why we all need to focus on merchants integrating Bitcoin on the payroll side.
2032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are altcoins, in general, worthless and pointless? on: December 20, 2014, 10:19:50 PM
Here's an interesting view on the Altcoin question from the Litecoin creator.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/litecoin-creator-charlie-lee-claims-litecoin-not-need-development-says-adding-gimmicks-not-help-currency-succeed/

I notice he stole an old Goldcoin quote of mine (and JFK's) in his last tweet. lol  Tongue
2033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shrem to jail for two years!!! Holy shit! on: December 20, 2014, 12:54:18 AM
The fed is crazy!  What the hell does Charlie have to go to jail for two years for?  If you are going to do bitcoin, be careful you don't do something illegal!!!!

Thanks for the head's up! I'll make sure not to conspire with drug dealers to launder cash. lol
2034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did anybody already pay with bitcoin in the Microsoft Store? on: December 20, 2014, 12:11:03 AM

I am wondering if somebody already used it and can provide me with a Bitcoin-address.
I'd like to find out, if Microsoft keeps a percentage of the Bitcoin, since they most likely would store that in a single-address(or at least wouldn't make a address for it every time)

Just imagine a gigantic fire hose dumping bitcoins onto the market. That's how the Microsoft integration functions in the real world.
2035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difficulty Lowering Question on: December 19, 2014, 11:59:02 PM
Question: If the price of Bitcoin doesn't rise, and large miners begin to turn off their equipment, do we face a "Frisbee on the Roof" scenario where it takes an extraordinarily long time for blocks to be found and the difficulty to retarget lower?

I think the retarget will be fast enough to make the adjustment without any problems.
2036  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would you do with 35 bitcoins? on: December 19, 2014, 05:29:26 PM

would you sell it or wait and hope the price goes up just like last year?   Huh

The last time I answered a questions like this I got banned from the forum for several days.  Sad
2037  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time Inc. Deal Promises to Ratchet Up Firehose of Selling Pain for Bitcoin on: December 19, 2014, 01:47:17 AM
I agree this is a chicken and egg problem. No one will integrate payroll solutions if payees don't have a place to spend their bitcoin. Merchant adoption is the path of least resistance to mainstream adoption. Create the avenues for commerce and people will take those avenues. You'll have a much harder time convincing Joe Sixpack he should be paid in bitcoin and "wait" to have a chance to actually use them in day to day living.

Excellent points.

I think as long as every bitcoin enthusiast seeks partial compensation in BTC from their employers, and we keep this issue in the public awareness, bitcoin will thrive. Remember, only a tiny percentage of Overstock or Microsoft sales will be in bitcoin. On the payroll side it only needs to be an option, or at the very least discussed. When Bitpay works with a merchant, they should encourage integration on both sides, POS and Payroll.

The problem is that currently we have everyone focused on the POS side of the equation which is causing heavy selling pressure on the market.

2039  Economy / Speculation / Re: I TOLD YOU SO! on: December 18, 2014, 04:34:25 AM

I think Bitcoin is a good buy at these levels for those with a 2 or 3 year outlook.

Ripple is a "strong sell" at this point in my view.
2040  Economy / Speculation / Re: TIME TO BUY on: December 18, 2014, 04:28:47 AM

I predict that people are going to wake up and start demanding wage payment in bitcoin.

The "hero adopters" will be those that setup picket lines to pressure companies for the option of paychecks in BTC.
