20201  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 841 PG 3 on: May 04, 2018, 06:07:05 PM
My results seem to differ from that.  I'm running about 2C cooler and faster using -1 offset.

I'm running short test (like 10 minute ones) in order to minimize outside air temp changes impacting the results, but so far, its repeatable.

which firmware?

I have march 6? i think
20202  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 841 PG 3 on: May 04, 2018, 03:04:04 PM
Currently doing --avalon8-voltage-level-offset -1

this should be better

--avalon8-voltage-level -1

especially so in hot rooms.
20203  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 04, 2018, 11:13:41 AM
I am getting a second setup from them.
I will be able to create better testing this way.

I can  place one unit in an ac room  one unit in hot garage.

Do comparisons.
I can do newer firmware on one.

@ Alh  I think

it's possible to combine the avalon8-voltage-level value along with the avalon8-voltage-level-offset value.

Will do more testing on it.

I will also be getting some  sorcerer psus from canaan.

Should have some fun.
20204  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 04, 2018, 04:35:14 AM
Thanks Steve makes sense Because in a 95 f room with 39/92 set to stock clock

That 92 is still well under 105 shut down guard.

I am happy that slight downclocks are working so well NJ temps got to 90f today so the down clock worked well .

I know temps will moderate in fall and I will have a solid 7 months of above spec numbers.

So a few months of just short of spec are not a big deal at all.
20205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: what to do when outside temperature 80-85 deg F ( 27-29 deg celcius) on: May 04, 2018, 04:23:18 AM
So after I disabled the 3 hot GPUs from the rigs, other gpus are below 80 deg F (27 deg cel). I plan to just use a 6 gpu rig to hold these three cards ( they will have 6 inches ) in between and run them in the new rig. Hopefully it will help. Outside the temp now is 86 (~29 celcius) and all gpus are below 80 F (27 Cel)

what are you using to SEE those temps ? there is no way on planet earth that a gpu will run at 27 cel unless it's doing nothing !!

Don’t fuck with the guy.

He made an effort to listen to you. His  correction was over zealous.

At op your gpus are already in c. So they are 80c which is just okay.

The only way a gpu does 27c while Mining would be with high end water coolers
20206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: May 04, 2018, 04:16:38 AM
Have any of you guys heard what the various developers of Equihash based coins  are planning to do in regard to the Bitmain Equihash Asic that's shipping in ~6-7 weeks? I read a rumor that BTG said they would fork, but I haven't heard anything (yet) from others.

It seems like most of the Zcash community wants to change algo to kill off ASICs just like Monero did, but Zooko and co is sitting on the fence.. they don't say either yes or no to ASICs yet.. well they kinda say yes by not saying NO.. the zcash community is pretty upset, a lot of people will abandon the coin if there's no algo change.

Ongoing discussion on the zcash forum an also on github:
https://forum.z.cash/t/let-s-talk-about-asic-mining
https://github.com/ZcashFoundation/Elections/pull/1

The big attraction to the coin is not that it is anynonmous coin .  The developers have touted this for more then a year.  What that does is make the coin a target for law enforcement.

The big attraction to the coin was asics did not mine it and nvidia whales on it.

Zec could try killing any card under 10 gb.

This would make all  cards die other then the 1080 ti.  I think it would also kill asics. The developer could score if he did this since he would know only 1080 ti would be exclusive .
20207  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 04, 2018, 03:55:33 AM
So have we decided that -2 or -1 is the best for a room that is 95F?  Night time the room I have miners in is low 70s, during day if it's say 85 or 90 outside, it's about 95F inside the room.

--avalon8-voltage-level -3 = 10751.58GHs 32/66c 980 watts

--avalon8-voltage-level -2 = 11680.80GHs 33/67c 1071 watts

--avalon8-voltage-level -1 = 11878.42GHs 33/71C 1123 watts

my guess is try -2

report back on these numbers

Temperature©

37 / 73

you will be close to the 37 since the room is hot

maybe you will be 38/82   with the bold setting above.

since auto shut down is 105  (I would not go over 100)

my guess is try that bold setting.

your hash will drop a bit under 13000  but  you won't burn up the gear.

Note I am quoting megaquake's numbers above which are close to mine except his are in a cooler room then mine or yours.

So to repeat this setting

--avalon8-voltage-level -2      = 11680.80GHs   33/67c 1071 watts

but you are warmer so maybe you  do

11680.80GHs 38/80c 1121 watts

look for big differences and let us know what you get. So we can get a bigger data base.

Please note I asked steve of canon to sell me more gear as I want to do more tests and run 2  units.

My first test unit was free of charge .  The next one I am buying.

20208  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 822 on: May 04, 2018, 03:33:13 AM
@ frodo

I will have to test it I am going to need to order more avalon 841's to test side by side.

Raven needs to take off to save me.

Well it hasn't taken off but it did finally get another nice bump in price, alongisde BTC so that was nice. I finally sold a little to cover my electricity for the last month and cover the next couple of weeks. I don't think there will be any massive surge for a few months anyways, the devs are moving slow and steady without a rush to pump the price.

If I remember you hit your second sell ceiling? unless you changed them up.

I mined 5200   and 6600

the 5200 coins were hodl

most of the 6600 I sold from 00000450 to 00000620

So all the sales paid for power and the  5200 are my fingers crossed they just sit in a rvn wallet.

I got lucky with some gear sales  sold gear at an okay price when coins were 8000 usd.   coins are now 9700  so  my 4000 in sales = 4850 not bad.
20210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: May 04, 2018, 12:01:48 AM
not even getting 1 to mess with phil?

Nope.

Here is why

5 t1s
2 2/3 s9s
11 l3+
1 a3
8 ltc usb sticks
1 Avalon 841
18 x 1080tis
Free power is 72 amps of 240 derate is done about 18 k watts

Summer power rates start in 28 days 18 cents

So 25 k watts of gear  means 8 kwatt at 20 cents

That is about 38 a day over. Say 1200 a month over cap.

Raven needs to take off to save me.
20211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 03, 2018, 11:54:02 PM
Can any detectives find out how many have sold based on the payment address?

Show me an address that you purchased one today.

I can try,  sometimes it is possible
20212  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 03, 2018, 11:32:45 PM
Yep, but the Corsair is a lot more expensive than the 2x HP 750W server psu kit.

And server psus are more robust for mining than the ATX psus.

I use server psus much more often then the Corsair.

I got four Corsair on sale for 860 usd which is still 215 usd each.

There are a few options

I like the hp 1200 server it does 900 watts at 110 volts

It can be found for 80 usd so two are 160 usd

I pulled the trigger on one with a 200 coupon

you gotta think too, these are "mini" what is the regular version going to be

Yeah I think I will pass.

Concentrate my money elsewhere for now.

I will also pass.
I sold a lot of gear.
I will hold the 18x 1080ti's.
I have left and see how it shakes out.

My 10 L3+ look better now then last week.
I have to sell my A3s and S9s , but Im still passing, ill just buy some vegas mine lux or xmr, I think vegas are the best move now, more powerful than rx , decent at every algo and power efficent with softplay tables and far cheaper than 1080ti which are soon to be obsolete anywyas

1080ti need equiforks or big time rvn jump

was this one found ?

I quoted me quoting him

MY problem is to be sure is I do not know where I read his stuff that he wrote but I know I just read it somewhere

An integrated power supply is a TERRIBLE idea, I hope that they reconsider.

this looks like you plagiarized someone.

in order too get money for a signature campaign

I know I read those exact words somewhere in the last 10 days.

I bolded  what I think he did    Cryptodetails  maybe someone else can find those sentences

Edit I found them here

so I guess I am correct.

2 hours later it seems to be doing fine.  Its one of my slower units at 13.2 with -1 voltage.

still above 13.0 spec

--avalon8-voltage-level -1    are you doing this setting or

--avalon8-voltage-level-offset -1

all of these   below reduce hash a bit and temps and watts a lot

--avalon8-voltage-level -1
--avalon8-voltage-level -2
--avalon8-voltage-level -3
--avalon8-voltage-level -4

they seem to work far better

then

--avalon8-voltage-level-offset -1 or -2

Can Avalon 841 run on 110v?

yes  if you look at all my videos on this unit many are with a corsair ax1500i as the psu.

that runs on 110 volts

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEctJaz4Mo0    this shows  max    i would not do a 110 volt line at this setting and temp

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvWXJTYrW9o   somewhere in the middle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIe4dDiqnkQ    this shows  downclock
20218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DIY FPGA Mining rig for any algorithm with fast ROI on: May 03, 2018, 04:56:06 PM
I am not skeptical if op succeeds he will be rich.

Not sure if it will help  the crypto-world.
It will certainly help the op.

A rig with a quality gpu was able to make money for more then 2 years.
Say Dec 2015 to  May 2018  .  I would think  close to a billion people could be making coin if they chose to do so.

With FPGA the customer base will shrink to under a million  can't see that being good for crypto coins.
But what do I know.
20219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 03, 2018, 04:41:46 PM
It says 1 per customer, even if using multiple email addresses.  How do you order multiple?

you need a friend that lives near you to order one.

How hot and loud does this run? Could I run one of them in my basement comfortably?

1400 watts and pretty loud.
