Our Condolence.
If your whole family supports you with what you are doing while you are yet not successful, you are lucky. You only need your father, one person in life that believes in you and it could already alter the future. But I'm guessing your father must have learned something about BTC in that podcast and he has visions for the future. So many people wanted to be in your shoes where they wanna feel someone is behind them all the time that never gives up.

2042  Economy / Economics / Re: The Return of the Barter Trade at Rural Communities in Nigeria on: February 25, 2023, 04:48:12 PM
The whole issue of Naira redesign is all politically motivated, because ordinarily you are supposed to allow both the new/old notes be used simultaneously and then the Banks gradually mob out the old notes from the system, that will take at least a year.
In England for example, the old notes which carries the image of the late Queen of England is still being used side by side with the new note carrying the image of King Charles until such a time when you will no longer see the old notes.

But the speed in which the Nigerian government is using for citizens to change bank notes in less than six months leaves a lot of us to believe that, there is a sinister move being politically motivated.

So much news about Nigeria adopting BTC, they can use crypto if there is the need to. We know they are not using the CBDC enforced on them because they have the idea that thier CBDC wallets are created by a 3rd party.

The country though is abundant with resources and food supply I think the people will still not go hungry if they just help each other. It's hard to believe thier government will deliberately put thier people in such a difficult situation. There's got to be an outside government telling them to do this and that which we all have the idea.
2043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 13 years ago Theymos sold 160btc at $0.003 per 1, lowest price ever recorded on: February 25, 2023, 04:20:43 PM
And what about Martti Malmi who sold 5050 BTC for only $5.02 back in 2009? It was also the first official transaction when it comes to conversion from BTC to fiat. I don't see that it was a big problem then, because everyone could mine BTC with their personal computer and mine a few thousand BTC every day without any trouble.

Quote
Today marks the 13th anniversary of the very first Bitcoin trade ever conducted in exchange for U.S. dollars.
On October 12th, 2009. Exactly 5050 BTC was traded for just $5.02.
The transaction was conducted by Finnish developer Martti Malmi, who helped Satoshi Nakamoto work on Bitcoin in its early days. Before the trade, Bitcoin didn’t have any market price.
Source

I don't think they at all need the money, $0.48 is not something that could help actually but I think Theymos and Martti were just testing the market on how a decentralized market works. What would he do to the $5 when he could have asked from a friend and there is no need to sell anything.
But since these happened I guess it's good trivia to tell like Lazlo's which we now in the Bitcoin community celebrate Pizza day.
2044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My $300 bet won $417,000 on: February 25, 2023, 03:43:13 PM
Congrats! You have not only won once but several times you really have that luck and strategy so kudos to your skills. I sometimes follow some bets of people but most of the time I go my own way of analyzing how I would go for it.

I wonder if you can also do your strategy on popular sports betting in Bitcoin like Stake.com. I tried going to Sportsbet.com.au but my country is restricted.

2045  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ GamblersConnect.com ⭐ Trusted Casino Reviews ✅ Casino Affiliate of The Year on: February 24, 2023, 08:57:24 PM
No review casinos yet I have seen that approved negative comments yet which really makes review sites shady at some point.
The crypto users are more qualified to really mark ratings for the crypto casinos if they are reviewed by someone who is not a regular crypto user who gambles often, it makes it not reliable. Users in bitcointalk are very aware of the casinos that are very reputable and those that are not.

Welcome to bitcointalk. Maybe when OP stays here for awhile, he'll know which casinos are known.
2046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 24, 2023, 07:41:43 PM

This is the first time we'll see Jones fight again. If he is still up to submit opponents he can do it.
Heavy body mass however can just make him go for striking, after all, he can greatly damage with just fists. But it's still possible by Submission.

Since this weeks event is going to "not very interesting", and probably lots of you are going to skip and just watch replays, then I suggest you to spend few minutes and visit UFC 30th anniversary page. UFC has been with us for 30 years already. Just scroll down and swipe right UFC history. Lots of cool stuff there (that easily can be found on YouTube).

I was first introduced to UFC probably in 2009-2010, the time I've got unlimited fast internet and accidentally found KO compilation videos on YouTube. My interest to UFC has developed to downloading events from torrents, converting them and watching on iPhone small screen them during lectures  Grin Now I watch almost every UFC event on huge TV on a fight channel Cool

I started watching UFC during the time of Anderson Silva since it's always sensational and UFC was giving a grand entrance of champs and challengers going to the cage. Same with you I just download them on torrent. I still have the youtube channel I made for the KOs of the Spider. You must have found my channel  Grin
2047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you keep your gambling habit under control? on: February 24, 2023, 06:45:04 PM
Eventually, if you have a clear view of where your gambling activity will take you and you see yourself losing more money and then you will soon think of a strategy to win or else you stop.

I have my eyes straight on BTC and halving which is a sure way of winning. It gives me control over the habit of just throwing satoshis. Unless there is really a lot of good boxing matches in one event that I will pour all the coins I have in the platform. But normally only a few remarkable matches and often just the co-main and the main event.
2048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Ways to Make Big Money at the Casino — Without Gambling on: February 24, 2023, 06:08:49 PM
this is possible only when someone gamble and managed to win but the casino is refusing to pay the rewards with silly excuses.

Instead of robbing the casino or kidnapping the owner's daughter the possibility of attaining the goal is high when we target the owner. Tongue

Well the honest answer is how to make money from casino without gambling there is to invest in their bankroll and we all know house has better chance of winning which means the returns is almost assured but we can't compare it with the rewards from winning a bet.
Yes, that is what he said and there is no point of accusing the casino if we know that their operations are fine and they also know it to themselves however many losers are still doing it because they can't accept the fact they have lost their money. You got a point there BTW on other crime cases on the OP, IDK why some criminals still indirectly targeting people when they can just target the true owner.

Maybe the owner is too slick to be kidnaped or assassinated? Majority of parents care about their kids so kidnapping someone's kid will still greatly affect them. As for the person who bombs an establishment I think they have other motives. They may be doing it as a revenge to destroy the business of someone else and not really for the money.

Targeting the owner reminds me of the "Sleepover bandits" where the robbers visit the house of the owner and then from there they get to deal with how to go into the bank in the morning.

Casino owners however don't become owners if they are not from a crime family. They are bigger than a police district. It's kind of hard to do this stuff these days when every corner of the city is full of cameras. The world gets smaller for criminals because of it. No one gets away nowadays with crimes like these. It's time to play by the rules.
2049  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game that you suffer consistent losses but still keep playing? on: February 24, 2023, 05:11:54 PM

Rocket/bustabit/crash style games did this to me. I have seen the rocket staying in the air for so long and giving out x100 profits seeing that drove me crazy so I kept playing. Somehow the moment I participated in the next round, that damn rocket crashed in 10 seconds. Cheesy Of course I don't blame the casino for that. It is just my bad luck. Sometimes you jump off the rocket and it keeps flying and that is also frustrating. This is what makes these games addicting in the end. In the end it is not much different than playing a simple dice game but the entertainment you get is pretty damn addicting.

Dice. It's still encouraging to bet on dice. I still see a lot even myself going for dice with the extra altcoins I got from the revenue earned from casino staking.

I kept losing those altcoins because every time I try my luck, I go all in on those altcoins. Why I use altcoins because I'm already doubting those casinos are actually rigged but it doesn't stop me from going back to spend the altcoins.
2050  Economy / Economics / Re: Rules of Taxes on: February 24, 2023, 04:50:42 PM
Generally, debts or you borrow from some lender or bank, the money is not taxable. There are exemptions. Filing bankruptcy is not taxable as well that's why a lot are filing for bankruptcy if they think can't make it anymore.

But any business as long as the local government sees it making an income can collect tax from the business. If you hide your business, then I guess it's up to you not to pay taxes. They don't encourage people to do that but yep you can get away like the farmer, this probably depend on which country.
2051  Economy / Economics / Re: How rich would I be? on: February 23, 2023, 09:30:46 PM

They say early adopters are the richest among Bitcoin users, it's true when they hold though. Some of them probably have a business related to crypto already.

It depends on you if you keep holding your BTC until the price hits $1M as some personalities have predicted.
Campaign participants have kept some coins while in a campaign but it's not really that easy to hold when they are also gambling and trading as well. It keeps them busy but also loses money. I say this because I myself am doing it.
2052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is easier to make bets on? on: February 23, 2023, 08:23:39 PM
Do sport like football betting and MMA betting carries the same risks or one is more profitable to bet on than the other? Which one is more likely to easily predict than the other? Also, I need a platform where football prediction is certain, is there any of you guys using any reliable platform?

I watch and read predictions in threads and on youtube but normally without any information or knowledge a gambler will be based on the odds alone. To me, football is a lot harder to predict given that the sport is played by a team. I would still be watching sports predictions if I would bet on a particular match. I bet on NBA without knowledge recently and still get to win but also lose some.

Some gamblers are probably making things simple by just doing it that way. No analysis nor knowledge of who are on those teams, they just look at the bookmaker's favorite and bet. Upset matches rarely happen anyway.
2053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: it will definetly save you on: February 23, 2023, 08:09:33 PM
80% seem to have passed the failing mark  Grin  I'm not sure if he just edited it to make it unique though so there are doubts. Though 80% I doubt if it saves him from getting a penalty.

These are good tips still despite my disagreement about setting unrealistic goals, sometimes the MAX bet button is just right next to the 1/2 and 2x. Floor it and you might just get the right timing to win it all.  Grin  Nope just playing the devil.
2054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 23, 2023, 07:47:39 PM

I think the more a champ has defended his title, he can remain to be the top p4p list and Volkanovski did it many times in his division. But I think he is now replaced by Islam since he is not a champ anymore.

Given that he wasn't knockout in thier fight, Dana will be obliged to really give him a chance to regain back the position. It will be one great story of his life if Alex can climb back to the top 1 again.
2055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another story telling how billionaires hate bitcoin? - read over quick coffee. on: February 23, 2023, 04:09:28 AM
His views on the future amazed people compare to the Birkshire guys though but all of them look at the future still with gold.
Gold, silver, crypto none matters as long as you have so much wealth that you are able to give a share of it to the politicians and the law makers of a country. They are the one who decides your fate, make a thing legal and illegal. They don't put the tag for you but for their own interest. Crypto is a path to deny the orders they put on you and find your freedom.

I need grocery items, let the market decides how much will be the price of the items and let me pay it with something that is decided by the market too. Bring the power back to the people.

They all decide who to put to govern the country and the government. It's necessary though. I can understand we want the market to decide prices but it's not gonna make a peaceful place because the rich too can lift the price of the grocery item.

What I admire most about Ray Dalio is his book about World Changing Orders and Rise and Fall of Empires which he emphasizes many times that a war is necessary to be able to have peace. And this also is decided by them, probably by the WEF.
2056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FIX THE MONEY - FIX THE WORLD #Bitcoin on: February 23, 2023, 03:48:38 AM

Money is often the cause of trouble. If not for money the government will not exist, it's the one that keeps it up. As much as we want to fix the world, people will always want to pick a fight over money. War is often because of resources which in turn Money still.

I have heard of this line before Bitcoin and as much as I wanna see it heard by more people. It's tweeted less than 500 times. That alone means not everyone is agreeing with it. I guess the libertarians left in crypto don't want to dip thier toes in politics.

4. Sue The Casino

Choo Hong Eng

On the other hand, we aren’t huge fans of the “don’t be greedy” maxim. We prefer a different one, which says, “Take from them what they owe you.” And so, Eng lawyered up. The matter reached the Gambling Regulatory Authority, which reviewed a bunch of surveillance footage and concluded that she was indeed owed every penny of the original win. No word on whether they also fined Marina Bay for trying to cheat their way out of the payment, but we’ll take what victories we can get.

After getting her win, it turned out that Eng did subscribe to the “don’t be greedy” idea after all. She pledged to give half the winnings to charity. Then she went and gave away the whole thing, to groups like the Singapore Buddhist Federation and the National Kidney Foundation. The restaurant biz pays well, it seems, so she didn’t need the money. This legal fight was all about the principle (and $440,000 adds up to a lot of principal).
It's quite unfortunate that this is what most casino does, by trying to bypass paying gamblers their respective huge winnings, which is unfair, as I have happened to come across many complaints of people suing casinos simply because of refusal to pay their huge funds, of which the only excuse has always been as a result it's machine error, that is never supposed to be gamblers fault, because for the fact that that same casino allowed gamblers used that machine and lost funds, they should also be willing to pay users when they win too without any complaint.

But moreover, I'm happy this woman could manage get justice for her full payout of $440,000, and went about touching the lives of the less privileged and people in need.

She is rich though and she only won $440,000.  But this woman who won almost $43M from a slot in resorts world was denied of her winnings after the casino claimed the machine malfunctions. I think they find it too much to give the $42M.

Fighting legally I think is the only way that works to make money at the casino without gambling but basically, Mrs. Choo Hong Eng gambles first until she encounters injustice. But it did worked for her than the rest who basically are just robbing from the casino.
2058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finantial tracking app asking for BTC address on: February 22, 2023, 05:40:29 PM

If want nothing to worry about, it's best not to share a BTC address at all.

Even if it's just a BTC address it can trace your accounts from which exchanges you have been by tracing the origin of your coins. It depends on where you are from also. If you are from a country where the government is cracking taxes on crypto then I guess you might just give it so they know you are paying.
2059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will happen once Hong Kong legalizes bitcoin? on: February 22, 2023, 05:00:42 PM
From the thread, it seems like nothing changes much because Bitcoin was already available in Hong Kong, and it's not like Hong Kong is making a leap forward by making it legal tender (I mean, it's not making Bitcoin legal tender). As others have mentioned, China's influence should not be underestimated here, as Hong Kong is legally a part of China, even if it does have a special status and a distinct history. I don't think China would allow a very drastic departure from its own crypto policies in Hong Kong, and China is in control there, so it's not like Hong Kong could ignore China's restrictions and do its own thing. So, unfortunately, I don't think anything will change even if some legislation gets approved soon.

The one country two systems I think work in Hongkong. The Island is the only business area where the Chinese can do things including gambling which I think the Chinese government will not really mind. So if Hongkong media are saying it publicly, there is a chance that is true and so is the reason why Chinese coins are rising like Filecoin and NEO.

Before China bans, the coins that use to be popular in China are LTC and EOS but these days, it's not anymore. They seem to only buy the coins where developer teams are Chinese.

^ Carleo could have just sold the $25k chip online and then ship it. Why he didn't think someone is actually tracking those chips I'm sure I don't know. FBI is even tracking guns or chainsaws used in crimes where serial numbers are altered. It also happened in 2010, and BTC already exists.

It would have been funnier if he sold the chips to someone inside the casino and then get away with it. Still not a happen ending for Carleo.

4th. Sue The Casino. There is a similar situation with Mrs. Choo Hong Eng where a woman won from slot also and the casino just told her the machine is faulty. The casino is just lucky because that woman has nothing to go lawyering against the casino. All these ways can bite you back with great consequences since it's not a victimless crime
