I see. Maybe if u are free, can just test both dragonmint units and not just the one from yoshi. It seems some units may have varying performance, as seen from the guy with 5 units.

yeah I will do one test on yoshi demo
using same psu from myrig

after 20 minutes it dropped to 15.58th

and pulls about 1650 watts on my kwatt meter

almost exactly the same as the first unit tested yesterday.

so the 15,58 to 15.7  is okay but the power it to high.

I need a link to firmware to see if it gets better.

Is there an issue because it is off again? It just shows 12.4G in last 1 hour

no the demo came in and is mining here.
http://ckpool.org/users/16yLHLoeyuCLPMXkVpC3gyrRYvwRGwjKJr

this is a completely different miner then the one tested yesterday.
I had a very busy day today.
Multiple delvieries of gear all due on fri showed up today.

And My kitchen sink clogged  which means I put on my roto-rotor hat and spent half the day getting it to unclog.

I now the demo from yoshi
I also have the demo from a forum member.

so I am testing the demo from yoshi.

poolside new demo came today

please be sure to test the updated firmware as well. your miner should offer an update in the backend section.

trying to see how to do it. as I am willing to try to do it.

20444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 11, 2018, 03:56:16 PM
I  have been GPU mining for about 5 months. I am on the fence a little regarding ASICs. Both philosophically and financially.

Would the L3+ be a good way to dip my toe in the ASICs water?

Any noobie caveats for ordering and paying Bitmain?

Thanks, Frankie

I have been mining bitcoin only for a few years before I started to open to door the GPU (alt).

Litecoin is doing great there days. I almost bought a few L3 but I'm short in electricity at my hosting ... so i want to replace my S7 with other btc miners.

It would be nice buy with the 420$ coupon.

My opinion is yes, it should be a good idea to get an L3, they looks like way more reliable then the S9 which is the main reason i'm not going for any bitmain bitcoin miner anymore.

How loud are they if you compare them to the A741 for exemple ?

just set fan to 30%   and down clock freq from 384 to 336  pretty quiet

or set fan to 24%  and down clock freq from 384 to 306  = quiet.

they won't do a 420 coupon  but they will do a 100 or 200 coupon.
20445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 11, 2018, 03:39:02 PM
So it seems the efficiency is just barely on par with Bitmains 2 year old s9 tech. After all that bragging about it being the most efficient miner in the world, Halong is looking even more silly now.

well on the first firmware the efficiency is poor

as tested on 3 different psu's  and 2 separate meters

there is a new firmware I will get to it in a bit.

.  Note I have  a  second demo coming  today according to dhl

so I will check firmware on the new one and do a direct comparison.

after 42 minutes  hash dropped to 15.68th

power is 1729 watts on the hp.

I do have multiple meters and it could be this particular meter is 50 watts on the hot side.
gui at 44 minutes

all tests  will be for 2 hours.  as power used does not shift a lot.
20446  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 11, 2018, 03:07:01 PM
Good numbers short term, not really. My S9 pulls 16-20Th for the first few mins. It just does not calculate properly at first. It will also take some time to stabilize the numbers.

http://ckpool.org/users/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje
Pool side number is zero for 1 to 5 mins.
2.96 T for 1 day. Wat happened? U turned it off?

http://ckpool.org/#/user  . I added your address 1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje into that link.
Your last share was 8 hours ago.

to loud to sleep  it is back up

so far tests have been  not so good.

but I am now doing a third psu.

the myrig halong psu  did 1680
the delta 2400 psu   did 1610

the newest is an hp  2450  watt  https://www.ebay.com/itm/100V-240V-2450W-Power-Supply-for-Antminer-S9-T9-S7-L3-Mining-94-Percent-Efficie/122923683959?

just fired it up I also figured a way to keep it very cool.

gui has it at 15.98 th at 11 minute

https://i.imgur.com/dwgeUsZ.png

so far it seems to pull a lot of power   1610 to 1680 watts   and be just short of 16th on the better psus

the myrig  it did  15.5 after 2 hour test. and 1680 watts
the delta it did    15.7 after 2 hour test   1610 watts

the hp test is only 20 minutes  15.86th

you tube link of today's test

note I will do this for 2 hours then I will do firmware then come back and test for 2 hours with new firm ware.

Your video will be live at: https://youtu.be/oR9fwKYIb-s

L3+ only $462 - $200 coupon.
They must have a new more powerful model coming out??

Was thinking that myself.  I have a couple $420 coupons was thinking of getting some of those for next to nothing.

Only $220 or below coupons work for this batch of L3+.

good to know I used a 200  and paid

462 + 99 = 561 - 200 = 361

Do you have any $200 coupons for sale ?

I can give you a 100 for free.

you should get one  if it is 462 + 100 = 562 - 420  it is only  142 bucks.

these downclock  and can run pretty quietly.

or overclock  and run loud your choice.

everyone can check testing numbers right here.

http://ckpool.org/users/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje

 pool side number

Okay I got the T1 from an un named forum member.  He knows I am posting and testing so if he wants to say his name that is up to him.  Thank you from me to him.

my power meter is high 1655

good short term numbers.  if the gear does 16.3 to 17th  but pulls 1655 watts  it is very close to spec.

1655/17000 = 0.0973 watts a gh
1480/16000 = 0.0925 watts a gh

you would be +5% on a hand picked unit   1,2,[3]4,5  two were better 2 were worse

https://i.imgur.com/xMJFIuf.png

the gui gives 15.71 th

now all early but  the gui number means nothing ck.'s pool number is how you are paid

if the higher number at ck.'s pool stays higher then the gui then this miner is not bad at all

20453  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 10, 2018, 03:27:03 PM
There are plenty of ways to find out.

First dead hashboard that someone has, lets decap one of the ASICs.  There could be a name in there.  They have to be proud of their work somewhere...

The PCB is good enough for me.  If it was stolen or whatever they would likely have made a stink about it already...

Another good place to look would be when/where/who compiled the kernels between the products, similarities in config files, file system arrangement, etc.

Like I said, zero effort to make the boards look different.  They can't really care that much if people figure it out...

I can't remember who it was, but I've seen "Stolen from xxxx" on the perimeter.  Smiley  Just for anyone who looked!

If halong ordered 10,000  s-9's  in Jan 2017   then reversed engineered  them to unlock asic boost and had innosilicon controllers
modified with the same contractor that built them for innosilicon, thus Achieving  16000th and 1480 watts at 2 pools I am fine with that.

If they kept it secret and don't want to tell us  it is a mix of bitmain + innosilicon I am fine with that.
As to bitmain and or innosilicon  being fine with that  I guess they are as  neither one of them are  complaining publicly.
No one has evidence of lawsuits against them.

My hope is to see just what  the gear does do.

My first T1  comes today  from a forum member It is from his moq of 5 units.

He gave sent  me 1 T1 and 1 halong psu.

He said it was his middle preforming one.

He got about 15.2th and 1520 watts with it.

vs 16.0  and 1480 watts.

The two items are on the truck. Due to my home today.

MY  demo gear from MyRig/Yoshi  is due Fri the 13th Not sure if that is good or bad luck.

20456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 10, 2018, 12:37:56 AM
Vitalik did say that he is not in favor of hardforking to address the ASICs attack because IMHO, in reality, scalability is a big issue for the ETH network, and needs all the hash they can get before POS. Well played Bitmain ...

Amount of hash is not related to scalability though. It just makes it easier/more difficult to perform a 51% attack. All transactions are still computed by the ETH node and transactions are limited because nodes (usually everyday PCs) can only compute so many transactions per second. The solution is sharing (every node only computes a fraction of all transactions).

Right now I'm struggling with a rig that only shows 4 cards instead of 7. Can't be dead risers as it's the riserless onda board. Out of 20 restarts perhaps 1 time all 7 cards get detected, but in 2 - 3 days it drops to 4 cards again. Annoying Cheesy

I bet its power related.... I had 6xslot ONDA that was acting like that but after migrating the same cards on a 8xslot ONDA with a server PSU - had no issues (SMOS).

On that scalability issue, yeah agree... in a way ASICs will quicken a 51% attack / centralized situation. However, in this interim POW to POS stage, ETH network depends heavily on the miners more than ever, hence the POW extension with block-halving decision before full POS. In a recent user poll, a big chunk of ETH miners favors fork to fight ASICs.

I bet there are already several hundreds if not thousands of E3s and F3s already online months ago....

Eth developer is a moron. my opinion for what it is worth.

first off pos can not work.

never could or will work.

basically pos is a bank  and banks pay  1% but are safe.

so unless pos pays 15%  it won't work since it is not safe at all and it can't pay 15%  as it won't generate enough revenue.

Eth  can fork and have 3 future forks  due to asic interference put off pos for 2 years.

It would be accepted by the miners with gpus.
the old fork would have an asic base.  like monero  xmr + xmo

I feel sorry for al those hooked into eth as the path  the developer is following = doom

btw same for zec.  they think the coin being Anonymous  has value  . The  truth is  once you want fiat it is no longer anonymous.  They are also making the coin to be a target for  law enforcement  since  its only value is it is anonymous.  They have turned to asics  in some statements  they made.

So we will soon  see  an asic zec miner.

phil - awhile ago you were targeting ZEC to be $1k a coin.  Does that still look realistic for ZEC? Not sure your view on it re: your comment above.

zec is no longer worthwhile .

I am not anti asic but all asic simply means lots of empty highways.

if zec becomes asic and thinks its ability to be a hidden coin is all that it needs they are mistaken.

My point is pretty simple.

the world has 8 billion people
about 1 billion can gpu mine
if you wipe out gpu mining you lose a potential 1 billion users.
nice highways are Wonderfull but cars trucks and buses are needed.
20457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Fork in one day.. hash rate drop predictions ? on: April 10, 2018, 12:20:48 AM
Don't nail me please, but here a bit different view about asics.

I do not own neither purchased any of the cryptonite asics, just trying to see a bit bigger picture than asic is bad, gpu is good.

First of all, let bitmain aside for a moment as a lot of other asic producers are comming up, only to mention some: Baikal, Halong, Innosilicon, Pinidea and some others.

Second, for a given coin or algo asics are perfect in the meaning that they support that given algo/coin/network literally forever. I mean you can not switch with a S9 SHA256
Asic mashine just to Groestl because Groestlcoin is more profitable this week, just as an example.

I'am pretty sure many coins and projects forget exactly of that little nice feature an asic provides. And i would not wonder if a given coin that hardforks away from an Asic Algo
a sudden is left without hashpower at all for its network. Pretty sure we will see such scenarios soon.

The nature of GPU mining, nothing bad with it, is that they are just flexible and can swith within seconds to whatever algo they desire. Lets say tomorrow comes out a new algo,
with a new coin that gives double the profit of monero, eth or whatever you want and what you mind? I bet 90% are switching immediatly to gain maximum profit out of their
Rigs, not? I'am not a dev, but i could imagine that a dev that hardforked the coin for its miner community won't feel good if in such scenario he is finally left neither with gpu
hashs nor with asics.....

Here comes just in my mind, isn't it very centralized if a single dev anyway, without the community or referendum, chooses to switch or do whatever? Just as a side note.

What about possible 51% attacks? The lower the hasrate the higher the chance of a 51% attack. The more asics on an algo (decentralized!), the less chance of a 51% hashattack.

What about energy efficiency? An asic is by his whole design just more energy efficient as a gpu, cpu or whatever at this stage, fact.

Finally, i'am pretty sure there is a reason that major coins will not hardfork away from asic for exactly some of the reason described. Each hardfork is a risk for a coin, a bad fork
can as much as destroy everything built up so far. Each fork has for sure some new security risks and i bet every good developer or project knows that, at least these that got somewhere
allready and have to loose a lot. A fork is not that easy as it may sound, its just that, risky.

This said, i agree that asic should not belong to a single company or farm, no doubt here. In the name of decentralication i bet its even the intention why all asic producers even sell
their mashines as they must be well aware that keeping ALL of them would immediatly raise red flags on everybody that is for a decentralized crypto world.

I think an asic miner guy is just doing the same job as a gpu miner guy, just different approaches on different coins and algos, even it gets mixed by now a bit.

I just think throwing all hate to asics itself is not right, nor fair, nor good, neither for the crypto community, nor for anybody.

Please no offendings, no need for it just for a bit different view of things.

This world has 7 to 8 billion people.

About 1 billion could gpu mine

killing off  a billion possible customers is moron stupid.

all asics = death to coins for the common man.

some asic and some gpu coins works.

read  my signature thread.

roads = asics
car, trucks, taxis ,buses = gpus

what good are lots of roads  with no cars trucks taxis buses.

answer =   the roads are worthless

Cool, so you'll have two different Halong gear for review?

Exciting news.  Smiley

I am thrilled to say the least.

Probably get them before mine clear customs in Canada Cry

No so sure if  the blake model will have a lot of custom issues.

The single T1 btc miner should be okay.

I setup notifications on the cell phone and email.

Just in case I need to prepay  the 3%  USA charges us for over $2500 items.

I get the other T1  from a forum member this tuesday.

This means I will have 2 t1's to test against each other.

@dimaze  did you get stuck  with a custom duty bill from dhl on the blake miner or the sha 256 miner?

Anyone know how long after getting a tracking number the miner arrived at their door? I'm just hoping its not going to be another week.

it is dhl express

so  go to dhl  and sign up for notifications as the item is expensive you may need to pay some duty on it.

should be under 1 week
