20501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethOS - Ethereum Mining Platform on: April 05, 2018, 06:33:26 PM
You can do it yourself:

Updating Miners to Latest Versions

Update ethOS.
Make sure your GPUs are not in a crashed state. It is best to proceed immediately after a reboot.
Run: sudo update-miners && sudo service ethos-miner-monitor restart
Search Google for your miner version to get configuration options that can be set in /home/ethos/*.stub.conf files
You can check your current miner versions with cat /var/run/ethos/miner.versions

The following miners are currently available to update:

ccminer 2.2.5-tpruvot-et
claymore 11.4
claymore-xmr 11.2
claymore-zcash 12.6
dstm-zcash 0.6.0.1
ethminer 0.14.0.dev2
optiminer-zcash 2.1.2
sgminer-gm 5.5.5-a
NOTE: If you have many rigs, use the above as a guideline for your own distribution method.
If any problem occurs and you would like to revert, run: ethos-update reupdate

so I have a 16 x 1060 rig and I want to change  to

raven  from zec

can someone show me a local conf file to mine raven?  tia

I will poke around here and come back to this thread
http://ethosdistro.com/

still a fail for me.

I have got it to go to ethos 1.3.1
I have it at

ccminer 2.2.5-tpruvot-et  ethos 6

my zcash works better with higher hash using dstm 6.01

but I still get a dead raven setup

this

globalminer ccminer
ccminer=flags -a x16r
stratumproxy enabled
proxywallet RTThoGzWY2G9XryuNV2bgPW9SCspnFAdwj
proxypool1 stratum.threeeyed.info:3333

60% fast drop  then a climb back to 30-40%

and if I understand asics  it should take 4-6 months  to crack it again not  60-70 days
20503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 05, 2018, 10:18:47 AM
Finally printed something of meaning value out of my 3d Printer that has been collecting dust....

looks nice but I stopped using risers  the 8 slot boards work better for me.

I know there are riser fans out there.
20504  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 05, 2018, 10:15:59 AM
Ok, lets get back to topic shall we?

When do you think Halong is going to lower their pricing? At this point S9s are sub-1k

so  pay 910-925 for a 13.5th machine pulling  1400 watts 6 month warranty = s-9

or pay 1600 for a 13.5 th machine pulling 1340 watts 2 year warranty = avalon 841

or pay 2000 for a 15.2th machine pulling 1500 watts 6 month warranty runs on 2 pools = dragon mint t1

the choice is for the miner to make.

the assessment above seems to be accurate
20505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 05, 2018, 12:55:50 AM
Lately the entire mining section has gotten out of hand.

People doing nothing but bashing Bitcoin, bashing Bitmain, bashing Mining, bashing GPUs.

People writing in huge red texts. Getting really difficult to read pretty much.

Basically newbies arguing with other newbies.

This is the only down the earth thread.

Well many of us are fully roi'd have zero debt on the gear.

So even if 24 1080ti's earn 50 a day and cost 13 usd to run it is still a net gain of 37 usd a day.

So far raven is okay makes a bit of coin.

the 10 bitmain L3+'s make a few dollars

It is still cold in nj which means $$.

I paid my taxes and will file them soon.

It's up to you guys, if you think the right thing to do is buy Asics from Bitmain, go ahead, maybe I'm wrong

But I don't like the idea to feed Bitmain, I think they are hurting cryptos and day after day they are getting more power
They create a dirty business model in my opinion

Like I said, I'm feeling tired of this, maybe cryptos are just to gain some money, and you are right to squeeze every single coin you can

The only thing i would buy right now is a Litecoin miner from them.

From now on, I prefer to support Canaan, who offer a true solid miner and not something that probably broken after 6 months. (or 6 hours)

the E3 looks great ... but it's a 3 month pre-order ... and will it broke ?

Yeah I will be

avalon 841 -------1 for now maybe 10
bitmain L3+ ------10 for now
nvidia  1080ti ----- 24 of them

and the 16gpu miner  with all 106 = 1060 mining gpus.

Hey Phil, I was wondering if you still had that 13 GPU rig from the company in Austria?  I haven't seen you mention it of late, did you have to send it back?

I purchased it and sold it locally.  It works well at a local friends place nice  gear very quiet.

I used one on an l3

Hey Phil

I haven't checked in a while what would your escrow fee be on something like the 420 coupon.

Thanks

I have been flooded doing these.

I charge 12 bucks flat rate for any coupon escrow  until it goes over 600 usd  then 2%  and 0.01 ltc

I prefer to do the deals in ltc  this seller wants  btc

so over 600 deal is 2 % + 0.001 btc for tx fees

So 1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5, 6 ,7  $420 coupons  from this seller and I would charge  the same flat 12 bucks escrow.

I will be offline for 2 hours  till 1145 am EST
20509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 04, 2018, 01:14:22 PM
I don't understand some people
They are against Bitmain, but they bought Asics

Congratulations, we are a few steps do give Jihan and a few players all the control of Cryptos and you help it

I'm feeling tired of this Cryptos, in the beginning it was very nice, decentralized stuff, every person can participate, a revolution to our financial system, but then...

The history repeats itself

It's a shame.

I only buy  old school asic gear from bitmain  sha 256 or scrypt

I just ordered a 10th  L3+ as  LTC  has 210
20510  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Bitmain Antminer coupons on: April 04, 2018, 04:33:31 AM
Is there a restriction on using the $420 coupons on L3+s?

20511  Bitcoin / Mining support / AvalonMiner 841 temperature issue on: April 04, 2018, 04:27:16 AM
So my machines have been happily hashing for a few hours now, and my hash rate has been very good. Looking like about 5% above the specs averaged across the machines. However the temperature has me concerned. The fans  maxed out at 100% nearly immediately upon beginning hashing and I have temperatures in the low 80s (F) according to the controller. Ambient temperatures in the shop are around 70F  So it seems it should be able to keep the temps down.  The shop is an open design, it is 1200 ft.², has 10’ ceilings, and has lots of metal and concrete in it to act as a heat sink.

Can you folks take a look at this image and let me know what you think? Should I be concerned about the temperatures?

http://imgur.com/1mo3EyX

Thanks!

er

Look to see if they creep to over 88.

A day or two before you know if you are too hot.

You are burning 5200 watts that is about 20000 btu

My garage is 600 sq ft after a week the concrete does get warm
20512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 03, 2018, 08:09:47 PM
I just did some due diligence on RavenCoin and all I can say is, best of luck to you all mining it, because it looks like a train wreck to me. Two different ANN threads with lots of infighting, questionable mining software, and the coin itself doesn't really seem any different from any other random shitaltcoin. I'm going to stick to DERO, ZEN & ITNS. And MUSIC!

EDIT - this sounds a bit harsh/combative upon re-reading it, and that's not the intended spirit; rather, I'd very much like to hear the counterarguments in favor of RVN, because from my (admittedly jaundiced/cynical) perspective it only seems have the support of the CEO of Overstock.com who is, let's say, a rather colorful character (or a crackpot, if you prefer).

Ok, if you are mining you dont really care about that stuff.  I just dont like the inflation on the coin, with no planned "deflation" aka a la Bitcoin.  But miners are getting shafted with the ASIC invasion so they seek new innovations with ASIC resistant properties, for, well, the decentralized ideology and all.  So they will mine RVN, they will create demand for it, they will pump it.  Im pretty sure of it.  Mine when difficulty is low and sell when price is high.  Of course I get that right about 0.1% of the time.

Another experiment.... PIGN (pigeon coin) is on the loose using X16S algorithm..... uncanny features similar to Ravens but instead of X16R for "random".... its using X16S for "shuffle".... something is telling me someone is doing a live "bird" experiments in the mining community perhaps in a quest to see which algo is truly ASIC resistant...

Was it a little birdy?  or a stool pigeon  Grin

I have about 2500 raven coins on hodl.

And shame on you  a bitmain eth miner.

BTW I just got my 9th LT3+
20513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 03, 2018, 12:06:22 PM
@phillip, The ravens have answered your prayers: https://github.com/RavenProject/Ravencoin/blob/master/roadmap/README.md

Their plan is to swap algos which is just as good as anything Smiley However sooner or later we will be seeing FPGAs or even ASICs where they can remotely update the firmware with new algos, remove algos, etc... So the cat and mouse game is on. I am happy with where this is heading!
Damn that is a promising roadmap! Now if only they had Masternodes on there..  Grin

good and price went up a bit

I am holding some and mining some.

now if I could figure why I can't get ethos to work on the 16 gpu unit  it would be nice.
20514  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 03, 2018, 11:35:07 AM
Nope. The fact that u are near a manufacturer is more reason that u should not do the review as it may not be impartial. If Halong was good, they should honor their deal to send philip a demo unit rather than talk and not carry out something so simple as shipping. No one knows if u are an original account holder as your 2018 posts are all in this thread only. Your previous post before halong is in 2015 and u just happen to live nearby halong haha. Think about it. It almost look like they gonna cherry pick a unit to do a review. There are so few tweets on this as it is and some still think it is an elaborate scam and that those tweets are paid.

If halong was good, they would send 1 demo to a few 3rd party established members, maybe philip, hagsfin, dabs, searing. We will have 4 independent and fair reviews of the units. This would be best and fair. The efficiency of the unit can differ substantially after all, as a member reported with comparison of 5 units.

reading all these conspiracy bs I have pretty much no questions left, besides what was a reason y'all guys to not join that Dragonmint chat the invite to which I personally found here in the thread?

I never been using this forum since i'm not even running an operation myself, just selling them miners.  But when I was into legit checking Halong of course I ended up here and found the invite. Being there at the chat for couple months straight I cleared all my previous concerns and made a bulk order with Halong after taking orders from my clients which was partly shipped last week and is shipping the remainder now.

Why all your discussions are spinning around someone being OG on this thread? No offense but all of them names you called out are authorities only here and that's it. In the meantime all the people you scam-shamed before which supported halong in the beginning, are well known on the scene, not only this forum.

By the way there are a guy above who is willing to sell some dragonmints he has on hand. if anybody so into this drama why can't y'all crowdfound a couple units for Philip and HaggsFIN rather than still shaming dimaze for his post count lol

As far as I can see the problem is y'all are thinking its obligatory for halong to send these units for free to put some respect on you guys since y'all have shit ton of posts here ? but thats plain ridiculous.

edit: grammar since was posting from mobile

bs  they offered it to me I never asked for a free unit.  the posts are here.

and it is obvious it was done to help sales of the alt gear.

Please notice that the deletions stopped on this thread as they scored enough money selling  the alt gear.

Frankly  I just wish people had stopped  buying and waited until I got the review.

Sy this point  I don't care much for them as they are obviously a butterfly lab type company.   I do hope the alt gear does get shipped.

and I did get 9 cheap units from bitmain as they priced warred with them.

So 15.3 and 1550 watts  for 2k  is the worse report on a t1

or 13.9  and  1430 watts for 910  is an average s9

Edit

My first agreement was to buy 1 from yoshi myrig  demo then buy 5

I never asked for a free demo and I have the email showing this.

They then postedt I was to get a demo.  They asked for shipping info no money or cc and they never sent a follow up.   I follow up with a text.  to scott oxford

two replies were

"soon"
"sorry"

texts are like that

translation is :
soon to come
sorry we are late

that text was on March 31st

It is obvious to me  they are delaying because at best

the real gear is not as good as advertised

and 1480  at 16000

is 9% from

1550 at 15300

0.0925 watts per gh

0.1012 watts per gh

I hope that all that ordered get gear.
I hope they  simply overpaid for the gear
I hope it breaks less then bitmain
I hope a lot here.

To Yoshi  not so nice

To -ck  I  figure  you were played  why not they played me.

it should be ccminer 2.2.5-ethos5

check miner version -
cat /var/run/ethos/miner.versions

thanks will try in the morning

My gear says it has ccminer 2.2.5 tvrupot-et ethos6

And the spelling trupot is wrong

As I have said the gear exists by that I mean the T1

So far  every meter  shows it to be off  from 16,000 gh and 1400 watts.

-ck says it may be tuned to a better number then the current number. Down the road.

So it looks like early adopters got hurt here. They had their money held from black Friday  till this week.

About 120 days.

And the gear seems to do  .1 watts a gh  under 10% improvement then the s-9  maybe under 5% improvement.

I can buy a 420 coupon for 70  and get a 13th  s-9 for

1160 + 100 = 1260  + 70 = 1330 - 420 or 910

I am thinking 910 dollar s-9s  look better then this gear. > This is  a speculation about the value of the T1

What is funny for me, is that I feel that they got angry after I pointed that the control board pcb is very very similar to the Inno one,
instead of just being calm and explaining everybody how the situation is.

Their behavior is exactly in line with what someone would do if they stole a few thousand Innosilicon BTC miners, likely a product Inno planned to release this year.

It all makes sense, like the deliberate attempts to keep their miners out of the hands of experts, the way they're selling miners for other algorithms (which I don't think exist, and they claim absurd performance: https://twitter.com/CobraBitcoin/status/980469619679952898). They just got these Innosilicon BTC miners somehow, showed them to some people in the Bitcoin community to have them vouch for them, and then started selling fake non-existent miners (convenient how they haven't started shipping these?) for other algorithms. There's no ASICBOOST inside the chips, it's just a slightly more efficient Inno BTC miner, and considering how old the S9 is, that's not an impressive accomplishment.

If they actually had ASICBOOST in the chips, we would be seeing more dramatic power savings. The firmware excuse is simply not good enough, how can the firmware be so bad to almost completely remove all your supposed power savings from ASICBOOST?

Well it would be really easy to test that there is Asic boost  If I had  a sample.

To me this is a real product.  But  they are selling 3 other asic miners:

https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-16t-miner/

https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-b52-blake2b-miner/
https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-b29-blake256-miner/
https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-x2-miner/

I think bitmain acts like they are real  since bitmain  dropped prices on all of their competing miners.

And if you want to go conspiracy

bitmain is halong

bitmain  did all of this  to  get us to believe  Halong is real and they needed to do a fire sale to compete with them.

And bitmain  is now doing insane amount of sales of gear.

the Scrypt  diff went from  160 to 210  that is 80,000 L3+s In a month.

Even at the discount price of  500 to 600 usd with coupon  they still make money on it.

Notice  the L3+ is the only alt that Halong did not go against.

My advice was and is and shall remain  don't buy anything from Halong Until I get the review unit.

and demo it.  BTW  they said they would send it.  They have not.  And people  kept ordering from them.

I have an older cousin she has always told me you can not help people help their self.

They need to be self motivated.

My guess is the above in bold type is not true  but not to worry it will be deleted soon.

EDIT: Calling it for the night, could not get sgminer to launch properly on Windows for the life of me. Kept saying sgminer.exe isn't a recognized command, or something or other, to late tonight, try again tomorrow

Code:
[b]C:\Windows\system32>[/b]sgminer.exe -k x16r -o stratum+tcp://miningpanda.site:3666 -u RTpXMvaesBGfDCc6whzu2GoxzMJuvBGSJL -p x --gpu-platform 1 -I 18
'sgminer.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

This is most likely because sgminer isn't located in the c:\windows\system32 directory (nor should it be); change to the directory where you put sgminer.exe and then try running it.  Wink

or it had something deleted  due to a virus protection software.

I have a folder on my desktop {Mining software} I exclude it from all virus software.

in that folder is a second folder I call it {nested software}   i exclude it from all virus software.

and in that folder I have all my mining software folders that double nested folder seems to prevent any bullshit from windows defender tor any other virus protection software
