one question, one remark ... question first: the 20,000 bits will come on top of winning bid, correct? remark: If you are located in the New York City area, we can meet and I can hand in person. Lunch will be on me as always.
the day will come when I will take the chance to meet the master personally ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Would love to meet in person my friend. And no, after you win you will not need to add 20,000 Satoshi...its in the code already and included in the auction. So what you bid is what you pay for plus shipping and thats it ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Very cool! We need more...
Was also asked by another member...the following Quick question: obv things change, but will these auctions be used to gauge interest in further related coin releases, or is this likely a one time thing? Probably...For the series of the 20,000 Satoshi...these 5 will be only ones ever made. Will I make more Timelocked coins? Time will tell as these were not cheap to be made. So depending on how things go, the future goes. I just love smart contract things, like my the stamps I made, so I said, why not coins? Casascius did the first loaded coin...so I had to make the first smart contract time coins. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) The front of the coin is mostly all code..which is what bitcoin is. On the back I placed a quote from the creator Satoshi which I think is appropriate to honor him for all that he has given us.

Each stainless steel coin is 2.5 inches in diameter and is the first of its kind to be a smart contract time locked coin! In the front you will find the raw hexadecimal code surrounding the Cypher Satoshi figure. This code would need to be broadcast on the
bitcoin blockchain on or after the 1st January 2030 in order for the coin to be loaded with the 20,000 Satoshi.
If your not up to typing in that long hexadecimal code that is 383 characters long, you will also be able to scan the code from a QR located
in the back of the pamphlet that comes along with your coin. And if you happen to lose that you will also find the same QR code for the timelock
code lasered onto the coin under the hologram as well. Here you can find a video of the hologram as well. Also you will notice the size of the coin compared to a US quarter.

What is an OG collector, anyway? I bought a couple dozens of Casascius from Mr. Mike Caldwell himself at end of 2012. Am I an OG? ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Yes :-) -Dave Hmmmmm...I didn't buy a couple dozen but did buy one silver/gilt from Mike himself in 2013...what does that make me? LOL Is there a time frame and quantity a person must have bought to be labeled an OG? ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) P.S. and I am not a whale either I consider things pre-2014 to be pretty OG. By 2016 every scammer on the internet was descending upon Bitcoin and these forums and the attitude changed from one of Libertarians trying to change the world, to scammers trying to get rich quick and attacking anything they saw as competition to their offerings. If I were to pick an OG collectibles peak though, it would definitely be 2011-2012 as that is where 99% of the innovation occurred in the space. Good to know and you are probably right...so I am an OG! Pre 2014! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Goat sold a 1000 BTC Casascius coin on here a few years back. I'm not sure where the thread went but I recall the trade details were partially disclosed.
Man whatever happened to Goat......he used to be everywhere way back when, I took a break for a few years after my account got hacked, and totally forgot about him. Retired on Yacht I hope. EDIT: *Gulp* I just ran a search. Turns out he was a massive scammer, and scammed 1000's of BTC off people. Hopefully he had a actual boating accident in said yacht, and sank with it. Fucking hell. All these people needed to do was hodl from back then, and they would all be rich, instead so many of them went of the deep end. I guess early bitcoin adopters always were a weird bunch. But fuck, between him and Risto, two of the most prolific poster here I remember from way back in the day.....sad and shite. Fucking glad Bitcoin has come so far though, whole space is amazing compared to what we dared to dream way back then. What a story! I like your "moral of the story", which is settle down and just hodl. I agree too that bitcoin just plugs along through all the dirty mixed up shite people try to do around it. Yeah sad but true....many stories like that. As for btc, it shakes off the weak that do no hodl...only the hodlers survive. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Hmmm...the physical Bitcoin collectors dillemma that I have faced thru the years myself.
You got a good point there but speaking as a collector of things, sometimes I would rather have a piece of btc history than btc itself.
One way I try and justify what I buy is I try never to use what I have in BTC in my long term vault(being a btc maximalist) ...that stays untouched.
When it comes to buying a collectable I spend from dirty fiat money I was never planning into converting into BTC at all for long term savings.
A few years back I bought an item for $200 that the buyer said he bought for 6 BTC back in the day when BTC was low.
To prevent me from having any type of remorse down the line as this guy had... I simply try my best to use fiat paper money or newly purchased BTC with said useless fiat paper money.
And if I buy a loaded item, then I have the benefit of adding BTC to my colleciton and portfolio as well.
