2062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitBean | Innovative PoS | Scalability | No IPO | No premine -New Dev Team on: February 22, 2018, 11:39:30 PM
Its a good day for BeanCash with the price rising, this can also be a good time for people sprouting beans as when there is a mini pump like this people move their coins to the exchanges to trade which then helps people sprouting as the network weight goes down and makes it easier to sprout. I have already earned 4 sprouts today when I normally only earn 1 to 2 sprouts per day.

Yes , I see Market cap of 5061 BTC and 24hr volume of 2764BTC , It means either most of the bean is now on exchange or bean is rapidly changing hands in exchange (look less probable). But what is current driving factor? Do they promised something surprising?

2064  Other / Meta / Re: Mod, please check new additions: Reporting copy/pasting, please permban on: February 18, 2018, 04:32:08 PM
Hi All.

Is it ok to post here if I use my already posted article in some other forum.
Off course I will maintain in disclaimer, that where I posted this article first and direct link to that forum.

In this way, I am re using my original work in this forum (not copy/pasting others), just want to know what the forum guidelines say about it.

I read the rules they only say that: (nothing written about re use so want to be sure)

33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

2065  Other / Meta / Re: Joel_Jantsen's Merit Distribution Thread (Newbies Welcome) on: February 18, 2018, 04:20:23 PM
I have been thinking how to utilise my merits in the most constructive way possible and I came up with this idea.

(Note : Merits will only be given if the reported account is banned/temporary banned by a forum moderator thereby considering it as a successful report)

• Bonus merit points considering the time and efforts put in to find the shill accounts.
                       _______________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________

3.Reporting accounts abusing the Merit system: Suspected users that are abusing merit 3.0

(Note : Merits will only be given if the reported abuse is verified and accepted by the maintainer of the thread)

• Amount of merits given will depend on the number of abuses successfully reported and your rank.
  _______________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________

Hi Joel

I once reported a user and his threads were removed too.
I directly reported in mail to moderator and got positive response too (That his started threads were removed).
Will I am eligible for merit, If require I can personally pm that mail as evidence.
I am bit susceptible in publishing in open to avoid any kind to retaliation.

2067  Other / Beginners & Help / Safeguard your crypto investment and avoid getting scammed. on: February 18, 2018, 03:38:43 AM
Hi All.

Increase in the  popularity of crypto currencies attracted lot of investor but also lot of scammers too.

Below is the common  traps/scam in crypto currencies that should be avoided and safeguard your crypto investment.

1. Free Bitcoin generators:
I came across the variety of sites that say that they have find security flaw in bitcoin code/or bugs in mining pools and they are able to generate the BTC for free. You put your bitcoin wallet address and they will generate from 1 to 3 BTC within minutes. The real scam starts now, when they say to send .2 BTC to them as miner fees to claim your generated BTC. I never tested them but it is clear scam when someone is asking you to send BTC to give you back the BTC. Why do not they send that generated BTC minus miners fees in BTC instead of asking  first to send miner fees?

2. Cloud Minings:
There will be variety of sites that promise you to provide hashpowers to generate/mine bitcoins,litecoins/ethereum and in return of some 30 to 40 Dollar packages. These sites will be newly created and offering promising returns. But they last for few weeks only(A quick cash grab and shutting down the business). Even the sites that were existing for years , not all investors are happy. So investing in Cloud mining as a newbie is a big no.

3. Fake Twitter/social Media accounts:
a.) These fake account impersonate a famous personality in crypto world (like John McAfee) and will ask you to donate some small amount of BTC to them and in return they will promise  greater amount of BTC(Like you send me .02 BTC and in return this impostor promise to send .2 BTC).
b.) Sometime it will be fake account of some popular website/exchange to scam the users.

4. Scam airdrops.
Although airdrop looks safe bet but in scam airdrops you will be requested to give some donation to receive the airdrops (like .01 Ethereum). Be careful in these airdrops and do not send your money to them.

5.) Scam coins and ICOs.
Although a full proof method cannot be guranteed to identify the scam coins and scam ICOs, but still following point can be taken into consideration before investing.

a.) Developers promise very high returns on investment, Giving too much referral bonus or whole setup look like a ponzi scheme.
b.) Coin/Token is ready without any whitepaper or poorly written whitepaper.
c.) Coin is not solving any problem or implementing any new idea.
d.) Website look poor, Hosted in free platform like "Wix" or there is no https for website.
e.) Dev reserved too much coins for them, or too much premined or any other scheme that is giving undue benefit to development.
f.) No source code available.
g.) Roadmap putting emphasis on listing coin in exchanges instead of doing some real development.
h.) Team members are not known at all

6.) Do not beleive others without DYOR .
It is quite possible that person advising about coin/token is associated with pump and dump, or getting some personal gain like referral bonus so it is better to do your own research.

7. Precautions while buying coin/token in Exchanges.
a.) If you have no intention to trade your coin in near future then it is best deal to transfer your coin to your own wallet.
b.) If coin is forked recently then also check that exchange is having coin from new fork.
c.) Do check if exchange wallet is available or in maintainence mode before buying coins.
d.) Check the exchange withdrawal fees beforehand the purchase of specific coin.
e.) Send small amount to your wallet to verify transaction instead of sending all coins in one transactions.

8. Password security.
Create strong passwords by using combination of letters (uppercase/smallcase) numbers and special characters. If possible then use 2FA authentication.

9. Phishing attacks.
Do not open the suspicious links. Bookmark the original links, instead of searching the internet for link of sites.

10. Wallet safety.
a.) Do not give your wallet private key to anybody.
b.) Always backup your wallet.dat in some external device.
c.) Private key of wallet should be safely stored in some other place or external device. Do not save private key in same device (In case of Trojan or virus attacks). Save your key in other device/place because if you forget your key then you will lose your investment forever.
d.) Keep your wallet locked if possible offline too.
e.) If you (and you only) do not own the wallet private keys then it is not your coins.
f.) Make sure that you downloaded the wallet from official site.

11. While copy pasting your wallet address , recheck the address that is pasted is same what you copied. (you might be affected by Coin RPG malware)

12. Do not trade without Escrow with individuals.

13. Pay attentions to the Escrow email address and try to deal with them publicly instead of telegram or gmail/other email.

14.  If you got message to call on the support  number of the site then first verify the number from the official site. It can be scam attempt as discussed in this topic.

Last but not the least, Never invest the money  that you can't afford to lose.
2068  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does KYC check scam? on: February 17, 2018, 05:31:17 AM
Anyone here. Don't you think that giving your sensitive details to a company might be a risk ?. I know we have to send those details if we are asked to do so. But how can we know which company to trust and which to not ?. most of the time they ask for the passport. Can they steal our identity ?

How else do you deal with cryptocurrency exchanges?

If you don't deal with cryptocurrency exchanges how do you buy or sell Bitcoin from / to fiat currency?

The KYC laws are appropriate. Any company can fraud you, regardless of whether they know who you are or not.

I am also wondering the same. The anonymity of bitcoin/cryptocurrencies is valid only when we are doing transaction in them. Moment you want to cash out then it is not an anonymous thing.

KYC is correct for companies so that they can know about there customer.

In turn, we should also do our due diligence while giving our money to company.

Since crypto currencies can be changed to fiat currencies, so both company and customer should take care that investment/transactions might not promote illegal activities or coming from illegal activities.
2069  Other / Meta / Re: TMAN's Level up challenge.-- UPDATED... on: February 17, 2018, 05:17:52 AM

you called me Sir.. instant no no for me fella

I see. Why don't you accept my sign of respect? I don't know what country you came from but aside from it's description I think that should be the word I need to address you. I mean you're a Hero Member

First of all, being a Hero Member doesn't mean that they deserve more respect than any other rank. It just indicates the length of time that they've been on the forums.

Secondly, just being able to write and speak English isn't enough to earn Merits. If that was the case, then every single one of my posts should be merited.

I believe that the reason @TMAN referenced @nullius' posts is because they are relevant to the context of the topics that he/she decides to post in. Take a look at his/her posts, and look at the context of the topic. Spot on, and a great example of how newbies and low-ranked members should be posting.

And for the record, I've merited posts that weren't extremely proficient in English; my merits are based on what I find to be valuable to the Bitcointalk community AND to the given topic of discussion. I could actually give a shit less about how good someone's English is, as long as I know that they're putting forth a good effort to contribute here.
Not all in hero spots are spoke good English language, because some of them are speaking broken English. However they considered it in the previous but now since quality of post is the no. 1 needed they were need to make a sentences with good quality of English.

The challenge to us how many people are users are reach in the hero spots since merit points now are applicable? They need to catched up the eye of many users to give us merit.

In addition they need to make level our activities and merit to make us ranked up in the future.

I think you actually did not understand the intent here. Why you want someone to read your broken English.
If you are not proficient in English language then you should post in your local language.
OP here require good English to understand and merit the post but it does not mean people will not get merit if they are not proficient in English.
2070  Other / Meta / Re: Asking for Merit ? on: February 15, 2018, 10:48:14 PM
is we allowed to asking merit for our thread we made , and we think its usefull ?

Better thing is that you can collect 10 good post from this forum (including yours as I did not see in Theymos post that specifically say it should be of  others, it just say 10) and apply for Merit Source.
If your post are really good then they will draw attention in the Merit source application and probably merit to you.

But in any case don't beg.

Thank you for your time in replying to my question.

My coins are currently on CoinExchange.com ( there is something Coinexchange2.com , is that a scammed site? )

Is it okay to keep my coins on CoinExchange.com before the swap happens?

I am sorry that I was given mis information on crypto NZ.

No, it is not a spam site, you can find this itself in CoinExchange.io (Below the chat)

Look at this Turkish circle jerk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2895261.msg29766601#msg29766601. They wasted a ton of merit on his useless trash.

Any translators?

Why you need translator now, when you already make up your mind that "They wasted a ton of merit on his useless trash."
2073  Other / Meta / Re: Chances of signature campigns being removed from this forum on: February 13, 2018, 03:28:27 AM
I read comment by the admin that if the merit system fails to reduce spam from the website, he might take decisions like removing the signature campaigns. This is scary for me.  I am not eligible for any campaign yet but I was hopeful to get enrolled in one. If this is going to be implemented for sure, I might not be comfortable participating in discussions. I will though read posts by other members for information needed.

Yes. They will be banned. Go away. We don't want posters like you anyway. It's clear you don't actually want to contribute anything especially if you can't earn and I doubt you'd get the required amount of merit to move up in ranks anyway so I wouldn't want you to waste your precious time.

I am just wondering how scam coins exist.
Developer of coins announcing coin here and giving hundreds and thousands of dollars in campaign and collecting millions dollars. Afterwards they leave the forum (and no where to found). For few dollars people are also promoting them.
I think forum can do KYC for Alt coin developers, I hope if KYC is done it will deter people from scamming. (Because they know they can be traced)

It is more important to protect the investors from scam. Closing of bounties and more regulation in Alt coin ANN will  benefit the forum ( less spam and scam) and people. (Not losing money to scammers).

Reason I am saying that because 99 percent coin in coinmarketcap will redirect to bitcointalk.org for their announcement.
2074  Other / Meta / Re: It's time for more "report to moderator" stats! on: February 11, 2018, 03:37:22 AM

Sorry for my ignorance, How can I find this.
(because I reported few, but I do not know outcome. If it is part of user stats then I get message like user stats are disabled for this user)

Last time instead of reporting the posts, I actually reported the user in PM to moderator. I got below in reply.

Cleaned up his threads, thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, crypto currency is not only falling the stock market also crashing which is happened due to the deflation from tether as experts

Who told you this?  Cheesy Cheesy If the stock is able to crash because of a cryptocurrency, we would see the stock market crashing once per week.
I imagine on the news reading Boeing stock crashed because Dogecoin  passed away.
Really man, just LOL, be serious. Sometimes you guys have ridiculous ideas coming from nowhere

Boeing stock can crash but I am sure Dogecoin is going to stay Smiley Smiley Smiley
2076  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal to set up rules for altcoin bounties to avoid confusion & malpractice on: February 08, 2018, 11:47:45 PM
The main objective of this forum is not to provide earning platform.
I will request to everybody not to scam and spam for their personal gain.
2077  Other / Meta / Re: Should the lowest merit spenders among us be known? on: February 08, 2018, 10:26:34 AM
This system was established to reward those that make quality contributions to the community.

That objective requires two parts to a single transaction to occur.

(1) Someone must make a quality contribution to the forum
(2) Someone else must reward that quality contribution by sending merit

Those that have merit, and moreso those that have received merit, who aren't sending merit aren't fulfilling their side of the transaction.

I thought the merit system was created to help mods to reduce low value spam posting.

The merit system was dumped on me, and it wasn't part of my original agreement for using BitcoinTalk. I happen to think the merit system has the potential to be good, but only if people use it to award meritorious posts. If someone can't see a post that they see as having value, then they should keep their sMerit until they do. The ones who are "not fulfilling their side of the transaction" are the ones who award merit to members who have abandoned the forum - Satoshi and the HODLer for example, this blocks the creation of new sMerit. The others are the ones who are too lazy to look for posts, and just give their sMerit to the merit soup kitchens and food banks. I won't even start to discuss the 50 merit awards to promote sig spammers.

Please leave the responsible awarders of sMerit alone, and focus on the abusers who are spraying sMerit like confetti.

I can understand for one time to award merit to Satoshi,HODLer and Pizza post because these are some kind of iconic .(Although those merit lost and no sMerits will be credited to anybody).
The actual thing that made me sick that people giving Merit to Bounty thread Managers (Every body knows, actual spam problem and fake account problem arose due to bounty section, I will suggest we should ban merit on bounty section).

What the hell is going on, you give me payment of bounty, I will merit you

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2708684.msg29173384#msg29173384

Ohh, you accepted me in bounty, I will merit you.

2078  Other / Beginners & Help / What to follow here as newbie on: February 08, 2018, 09:21:42 AM
There is famous saying "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" .

I am putting my list in point for newbies, what  should be followed here.

1. Follow the rules of forum.
Although rules of forum are pinned in META but I still put the link below.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

2. If you are in doubt about some rule, search it in internet and then ask in forum
Alternatively, I also found that  reading the post of below members make you much clearer about what is accepted behavior  and what not.
"The Pharmacist", "Vod",  "Lauda" "actmyname"

3. Follow the META forum to be aware of forum activities/new rules etc.

4. Topics to be read
Below thread is just to give head start for what to read but this is inclusive list not the exhaustive list.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2852912.msg29627250#msg29627250

5. Invest carefully, Don't be scammed (Do your own research). I will recommend to go through this thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2856723.0

6. Share the knowledge, but avoid copy and paste (Internally/Externally). If caught copying it will cause Permanent ban.

7. Do not post spam or useless post.

I hope all of here will abide the rule of forum  and lets do constructive in this forum, while we learn here.

2079  Other / Meta / Re: Why are signatures allowed in the META forum? on: February 08, 2018, 07:23:58 AM
Disabling it in only this section is technically not easy to do, and is most likely not worth the time to implement

It would take Theymos a couple seconds to implement it, since other forums here do not allow signatures.

But thanks for the ignorant comment.  Smiley

Might be, who thought that personal signature space will be so monetized? It will bring fake accounts and spam posts.

Yes, It is already implemented in this forum for serious discussion.

Below are the few rules from serious discussion:

 - Signatures are not displayed.
 - You must be at least a Jr Member to post in Serious Discussion, and a Full Member to post in Ivory Tower.
 - Posts in Serious Discussion only activate a potential-activity period. They do not increase your post count.
 - Posts in Ivory Tower neither activate a potential-activity period nor increase your post count.

I think we can apply "no signature" and "no increase in post count" META too.
2080  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 90% of Masternode coins are similar/ponzi's on: February 08, 2018, 04:57:38 AM

3) Create projects on the backend of your economy. Look at PHIL's currency (not shilling) for a second. They are building projects that will utilize their PHILS token, thus creating an actual use case for their own coin. You need to actually build a service/product that provides the investor with some value proposition.

I did not find anything about PHILS, Can you provide me link to ANN.

This is not only about Master Nodes, we have very large number of scam coins, that are successfully listed in exchange.
Every body should  be aware of these points before investing in any project.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2856723.msg29432489#msg29432489

Money of investor should not go in pockets of these scam coin developers.
