Marketing takes time to prepare.
If there will be the one click client in one week it is wise to start the preparation for marketing now.

Hand out something between 250K and 500K (Make a one day poll and use the average of voted amount) and let the preparation for the campaign start.

In a week, together with the client, the prepared campaign can launch. Results will decide about further funding.

salsacz's action plan is a good start. We could build on that but we need more specifics on many items. Particularly Who would be doing What ?

GIVE HIM 500,000 NXT and let him get to work.

PLEASE!
2063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 19, 2014, 03:58:48 PM
Can't we just send 1M to salsacz and let him/her (which one btw?) to decide how to spend this money for marketing?

This is the complete plan.

1,000,000 would easily cover costs to get most things started (and finished).
We already know that some things on this list will only be important in a later stage.
I trust salsacz to handle the funds and he can also keep the community up to date about spending.

Edit: some of it is already done, by the way.

THAT is NOT a plan, there are things in that list that are payed over and over with bounty

THAT IS WHY WE GIVE HIM 500,000 Nxt to begin & we judge the results.

The rest of the funding will be BASED on the RESULTS of the 500,000 Nxt

500,000 nxt to begin (TO SPEND AS HE WISHES).....the rest of the funding will be based on the RESULTS! from the 1st 500,000 NXT

Why can't we wait until we have an open source client like nexern, then start with marketing?  We need to point people to an easy one click install, otherwise people will come and then leave confused.  Also, we need to focus on several core features so we have something to market.

There will be an open source client in 1 WEEK

Send 250,000 NXT to start....this should be done immediately.

Depending on how this get utilized we release the next lot of 250,000 and so on.

Salsacz is pretty good with giving updates and reports anyways

agree, but let it be 500K for the first time at least...

Have to applaud emunie in their marketing. It does seem to be quite effective and I would be extremely surprised if emunie was NOT in the top 10 on coinmarketcap as soon as IPO is done.

The big competitors for NXT will be emunie and DOGE. Do not laugh at DOGE, it is trading ten times as much as NXT in dollar volumes. Almost as much at LTC and a significant fraction of BTC trading. For those that think that marketing has no value and NXT does not need it, just take a look at DOGE's stats. Half the marketcap of NXT, ten times the trading volume. DOGE even has a bit of utility as it is used for tipping on the internet. Minimal functionality, maximum marketing.

Just imagine if NXT got maximum marketing. Please fund salascz's marketing plan. NXT is not alone in the second gen market, there is emunie, etherium on the content side and DOGE on the meme side.

Please fund salascz's marketing plan.

I love how just below this thread on the first page is a copy/paste of NEX called NEM.

Wrong. NEX is the copy and paste of NXT while NEM has 4 billion coins which is a very innovative additional feature.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422129.0

Let me guess. NEM is exactly 4 times more innovative than NEX?  Grin

2077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 19, 2014, 07:26:04 AM
I know you will think this is too early for this but I don't want we fail in the same point bitcoin did.

In the real world people like to use high amounts, and never less than cents. Currently with bitcoin sitting nearly @ $1,000/each this is stopping people from buying them. You look so miserable when you spend $50 and you get 0.05 bitcoin. The higher the price will go, the higher this will stop people from buying it.
And to be honest, milibitcoin won't be a good solution. People wants to hold at least 1 bitcoin, now it feels too expensive.
Also is a pain in the ass to read/send 0.00145 for example.

The better way would be to do a split, like in the stock market. For example at every $1,000 we move the comma 3 places. So, now we total coins is 21,000 million and all the people would have x1,000 , so new people can happily buy 50 bitcoins with $50 dollars.

Will be possible in NxT to easily do the split? IMO this will be mandatory in the future.

If one Nxt is ever worth a thousand dollars (trillion dollar market cap) then you might want to just sell and stop worrying about the future at that point.

Folks we have landed on MARS!

Solaris Windows Client
It can not be trusted. It's closed source.

So it can't be recommended. Definitely

What about the NRS client?

So there is a client but we cant use it?

As long as it is safe i see no problem....Windows isn;t open but we all use it

Solaris what? :-)

Solaris Windows Client
2080  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 18, 2014, 05:36:43 PM
Client is really a con right now. I already imagine chinaman downloading the client via the link on BTER. He will unzip and wtf, that doesn't work right out of the package, what is dis crap  Cheesy

Why aren't third party clients posted on the main page of http://nxtcrypto.org yet? These were funded, so why not promote them?

Also, ideally we need an entire translation of the nxtcrypto.org site in chinese with a simple button at the top to change language.

This is probably a good idea, but we need to be careful about promoting alternate clients - remember the trojan client that stole NXT?

the NXTCRYPTO foundation that myself and 5 others started intended it to use input from the community, so your input is appreciated.  Just tell us what you think needs to be done and we'll do it.  Which clients are safe to include as alternate clients on the webpage?

For translation, that is a no-brainer, so if someone wants to volunteer, please take it straight to QBTC
