2063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Historic Non Fungible Token [SEBUH] on: December 15, 2022, 01:32:41 PM
I'm the proud owner of a SEBUH token and you made it into my thread about Historical NFTs (granted I don't update it very often as nobody here seems to care about... anything). Was going to pick up another one off the DEX, am waiting to round up some spare XCP.

Do you think that the NFT Hype will die out, and this Historically Significant NFT will become less in demand?

No, never completely. As a matter of fact I think HNFTs have a much better chance of holding up in value compared to new NFTs, which are now in the trillions.

Anyway Its been a bit of a challenge, these NFT Historians are all trying to get me to pump the token and dump them. I don't feel happy selling to them because all they want to do is FLIP it later on.

If I had two I would probably flip one later on, but I'm gonna ride or die with my one for a long while. Anyway, who are the "historians" (some of them are more like "histoooorians") that were asking you to pump the token. NAME N SHAME!!

Are these Historians Really after the History of NFTS for their intrensic value which should increase in the future?

Are they just historian buffs and want to collect all the OG things for the fun of it?

Some of them, for sure, yes.

I am wondering what Bitcoin Talk members have to say about "historic NFTs' - Is it just another Buzzword to drive sales?

Is it legitimately seeking to preserve History of Crypto?

These are all excellent questions. I personally believe that the collector market for old assets/tokens/NFTs is going to be huge in the future; of course its success hinges on the overall success of cryptocurrency as a whole. Which I don't think is going anywhere. I think of HNFTs as pre-1980s baseball cards... Hard to find these days, and the greats go for huge sums. The older, the rarer & the more famous, the better.

You've got a good piece of NFT pre-history on your hands... You are its steward. Treat it well. Try to build on its legacy, not just for your holders but for yourself as well.

There may be that each team in either division plays each of their divisional rivals twice; once away and once at home. They also played every team in the other divisions once, for a total of ten games. The two teams with the highest winning percentages in each division will face each other again for one playoff game, then the two remaining teams play for the league championship.

However it doesn't seem like a lot of points were scored, which is a bit of a meh, but let's see. Landry Jones is set to start for Dallas, while LA will have Chad Kanoff in the middle - never heard of that name. Wikipedia says, that he was signed by the Cardinals as an unplanned FA and also remains with the Lions and Bucs. But he didn't go beyond training squads with these teams. Maybe it'll take a small kick in Dallas.

Is this a bot that went mad?

It seems like he was recently unfrozen in time from 2020, but its actually simpler than that.

They have two divisions, Western and Eastern, each with four teams.  Each team in either division plays each of their divisional rivals twice; once away and once at home.  They also play each team in the other division once, for ten total games.  The two teams with the highest win percentage in each division face each other again for the one playoff game, then the two remaining teams play for the league championship.

Will watch my first XFL game today, when the LA Wildcats host the Dallas Renegades Grin

I have no idea what to expect tbh. From the previous results, it looks like there is not a lof of points scored, which is a bit meh, but lets see. Landry Jones is set to start for Dallas, while LA will have Chad Kanoff under center - never heard that name. Wikipedia says, that he was signed by the Cardinals as undrafted FA and also stayed with the Lions and the Bucs. But he didn't get beyond practice squad with these teams. Will probably have a small punt on Dallas.

Both posts from Page 1 of the thread, how lazy can you get.

Mfer wandered into the wrong goddam thread.

Something is amiss in the assembly line at the Bad Take Factory.

My guess is that he will get convicted and sentenced, then have a tragic heart attack and be cremated the next day.  Like Ken Lay.

Except that's not what happened. He while on vacation, three months before sentencing. He wasn't even cremated the next day -- it was four days later and after an autopsy that found he suffered from coronary artery disease.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Lay

Surprised you didn't just go with Epstein.

Unlike in Lay's day, SADS is a thing now.  'Expert's say'(tm).  Every woke leftist will truly believe the story, and they'll support censorship for anyone who expresses doubt about it.

What's the point in conjuring such righteous indignation over a story that you personally imagined?

Why do you always need 150 words to say what could be said in 15?

Your original assertion was that Bitcoin has decoupled from the stock market. I presented evidence that it has not and some explanation as to why it cannot. Here's some more recent evidence for you:

Stock market drags Bitcoin price further south; Will the trend continue?

Pretty obvious that the lines have spent more time above zero than below it for the last year. Since November there has been more of a negative correlation than a positive, but if BTC was "decoupled" the lines would be at zero. Speaking of zooming out, if you do that you see this recent shift is part of an overall pattern that has been around for at least 4 years now:

The things that make the stock market move will continue to make Bitcoin move.

Part of your problema philip is that you don't seem to understand dee cornz very well.

Epic Facepalm.

Dee cornz are already decoupled - even if we have these periods of correlation, that seem to confuse people.. including but not limited to ur lil selfie.

Won't be decoupled until its no longer an institutional investment... pretty simple really. I've never understood the steadfast denial of correlation by those who wish to pretend corn exists in its own economic bubble. It does not.

Here's some basic reading for ur lil selfie, let's see if it will make a dent in your stone head.

Quote
As Bitcoin morphed into an asset class, more interest was created. Brokerages and institutions gained traction with regulators and offered investment opportunities like Bitcoin-linked ETFs and 401(k)s that allowed investors to place Bitcoin in them.

Because institutions were providing familiar instruments, investors appeared to become more comfortable with cryptocurrencies.

In late 2021 and into mid-2022, cryptocurrency prices rose and fell similarly to equity prices. The chart below shows Bitcoin's (BTC) price compared to the S&P 500 (SPX) and the Nasdaq 100 (NDX).

"Ah but its not correlated 100% of the time."

Correct. Regardless, some correlation is still correlation.

My first comment was "who let all the fucking hippies in?"

The 2nd or 3rd rave I ever went to was in Oakland, and there were indeed hippies there. So like a lot of young people in their early 20s and then a lot of people in their 50s and 60s. It was supposed to be in San Francisco but it got moved at the last minute. I remember I was staying at my girlfriend's place in Marin County and when her dad found out we had gone to Oakland he was like "AAAAAAAAAA"

It was an odd rave in that the drug of choice was LSD -- we didn't have any, had to experience the whole thing sober. What's funny is the police still found it and pointed a flashlight in everybody's eyes to see if they were trippin.

One particular property had a "trip-out" shed built among the trees, it was one of those optical illusion rooms with trapezoidal walls.

The ratio of her leg length to circumference suggests she might still be a giant. I'm guessing at least 6 foot.
2069  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is ChipMixer a probable HoneyPot? on: December 14, 2022, 05:45:48 AM
This has nothing to do with it. First of all, they never identified the owner of Blender.io.
So, did they just shut down the site?

I don't know if they shut down the site or if it closed on its own. You can read about the specific actions taken here:

https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/jy0768
https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/financial-sanctions/recent-actions/20220506

They didn't arrest the owner, did they?

It appears there were no individuals named or arrests made in connection to blender.io.

Just FYI the link in your feedback for blenderio is about the hacking of another mixing service, Blender Wallet, not blender.io.
2070  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is ChipMixer a probable HoneyPot? on: December 13, 2022, 01:56:55 PM
However, the fact that they haven't been sanctioned after over 5 years in business is puzzling
They are honest and reputable mixer existing over 5 years which mean it must be honeypot?

That's not what I was inferring. It's just a curious observation.

Not all accept Monero, and it doesn't come with no other tradeoffs. Plus, I don't find one reason why users shouldn't have the freedom to choose either of these two options.

You do have the freedom to choose either option -- nobody said you didn't.

I'm saying people exceptionally concerned about blockchain privacy should consider using Monero, or at least passing their BTC funds through it to break blockchain links instead of mixers. This can be done in a few different ways. Of course the privacy can always be undone by the future actions of its users, just as it can for users of ChipMixer or any other mixer.

Maybe both Blender.io and Tornado Cash were sanctioned because the developers hadn't taken the proper measures regarding their traceability. I read that Tornado Cash developer, Alexey Pertsev, was arrested. To be arrested, I understand that he hadn't been working on TC very privately. The person who runs ChipMixer is entirely unknown as far as anyone can tell.

This has nothing to do with it. First of all, they never identified the owner of Blender.io. They've sanctioned lots of anonymous entities in the past, including most of (what they know about) the Lazarus Group. Furthermore, the creator of Tornado Cash didn't necessarily think or know he was doing anything illegal when he created it. He shouldn't be in jail IMO.
2071  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 13, 2022, 05:51:09 AM

Nice pics. A little snow up there right now, very cool. One of the only places in the world where you can experience a 50 degree temperature shift after driving for an hour.
2072  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is ChipMixer a probable HoneyPot? on: December 12, 2022, 02:30:57 PM
I would vote "maybe" if that was an option.

If ChipMixer were explicitly illegal then that would be entrapment, so I'm actually leaning toward "no, they're not." (maybe that doesn't apply in certain circumstances, not certain)

I'm also a big fan of proof before jumping to conclusions when it comes to such "what if" conspiracies.

However, the fact that they haven't been sanctioned after over 5 years in business is puzzling, especially after laundering money for North Korea and several other famous hacking incidents.

For example, both Blender.io and Tornado Cash were sanctioned specifically because Lazarus Group used them to launder Ronin Bridge hack money. Lazarus also sent some of those funds to ChipMixer -- so why did they evade sanctions?

https://www.reuters.com/business/us-adds-virtual-currency-mixer-sanctions-list-over-north-koreas-cyber-activities-2022-05-06/
https://cryptoslate.com/ronin-bridge-hackers-used-chipmixer-to-launder-over-73m-of-stolen-funds/

Its indeed a curiosity.

Privacy is a very big thing (as it should be)!

People who are exceptionally concerned about this should just use Monero.
2073  Other / Meta / Re: We can not discuss if 'ChipMixer is a honeypot or not' outside their own thread? on: December 12, 2022, 01:26:47 PM
I know that you are very sensitive to when threads are moved and that because of one such case you left the forum for a while - but my reaction to the OP thread in the Bitcoin discussion was not motivated by defending CM, but exclusively by moving the thread to the appropriate board.

If you notice in my previous post I agreed that the thread shouldn't be kept in Bitcoin Discussion necessarily. And you've now dropped the part about how "a discussion on the same topic already existed" which is a lame rationale for locking the thread as it goes against any precedent of moderation on the forum.

It's a bit sad for me when I see old members who used to be pro-Bitcoin attacking everything that has to do with Bitcoin

This is a pretty clumsy reach. If I was "attacking everything that has to do with Bitcoin" on the forum, I'd never be finished posting. And for the record I've always been pro-bitcoin and I still am.

and at the same time promoting things that are at least dubious and questionable.

Not sure what you're talking about exactly, and not that it matters to this discussion whatsoever, but its not like you don't have any experience with that  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
2074  Other / Archival / Re: blanked out on: December 12, 2022, 08:34:15 AM
Report the topic to a moderator, delete it, and I'll create a new one using the satoshi account.

Seems like if you wanted people to take you seriously you would have just done that first. The thing is though, you can't, as theymos has locked the account. Nobody can log into it.
2075  Other / Archival / Re: I hacked Satoshi Nakamoto on: December 12, 2022, 08:20:58 AM
I hacked Satoshi Nakamoto
You hacked his system? I always knew he must be a bot.
Can you alter his program somehow? Would be fun to see him do April fool pranks on the network like we get here.

I thought maybe he had hacked Satoshi's Netflix account, would threaten to release what was in his viewing queue.
2076  Other / Meta / Re: We can not discuss if 'ChipMixer is a honeypot or not' outside their own thread? on: December 12, 2022, 03:58:48 AM
Really the defense of ChipMixer by its sig campaigners has been far stronger than for any other entity that has ever advertised in such a manner on the forum. Its getting a bit embarrassing TBH.

I'm not ashamed of anything I've done on this forum, not even that I reported that thread like hundreds of others from the Bitcoin discussion. The fact is that a discussion on the same topic already existed, and that the OP (who is actually the alt account of a well-known member) posted that thread in a board that is not appropriate for such a discussion.

In the quote above about "getting embarrassing" I was thinking of ridicule of FatManTerra in the ChipMixer ANN thread as the most recent example, though there have been several previous instances. Obviously its OK that there be a separate thread dedicated to discussion of that topic, although yes perhaps "Service Discussion" is a better home for it.

Your implication that I defend CM for financial reasons is more than ridiculous - especially since I might be the only one who hasn't spent a single satoshi since I joined that campaign.

To those on the outside looking in its pretty obvious that's what you're doing.

I admit that part of my defense for ChipMixer is to have it continue operating, which first of all ensures the operation of an excellent service, and second, secures me income.

Kudos for your honesty.
2077  Other / Meta / Re: We can not discuss if 'ChipMixer is a honeypot or not' outside their own thread? on: December 11, 2022, 01:44:28 PM
No one is trying to hide anything, and the moderator who handles the report only acted on the report (I personally reported it) with a link to an already existing discussion, and if he closed the thread, he did it completely logically, because it makes no sense to have the same discussion in two different boards.

There's been hundreds - thousands even - of threads opened on far stupider & more redundant subjects.

You don't have to go out of your way to defend ChipMixer. You could simply choose to ignore criticism of it if you wanted.

Really the defense of ChipMixer by its sig campaigners has been far stronger than for any other entity that has ever advertised in such a manner on the forum. Its getting a bit embarrassing TBH.

Suffice it to say that Evan, Robby and I will all be working on Counterparty for the forseeable future.

I see that PhantomPhreak logged in last month and am wondering if he could possibly address what happened with this plan... His activity on the forum really dropped off after March 2015.

I realize things change, people change, and he went on to work with Symbiont.

But I have to say, Counterparty could really use your guidance & direction if you have even the slightest interest in returning!
