People who you add to your list are DT1 for you. The people that they have added to their lists are DT2 for you. Feedbacks from both layers are visible by default.
This has a strong recursive effect: adding theymos for instance turns certain users red and others green.
20642  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: January 09, 2019, 07:36:06 PM
my main account is off DT2
I'll take 10% of the blame for that - I had you in my list but recently I replaced my custom list with the default for debugging purposes... so that screwed up my own eligibility and possibly some others. Will have to wait for the next month. And I'm hoping many other users will treat this change as a kick in the butt to go and set up their custom lists.
Added him back too.
Thanks! That was the shortest jail break ever Cheesy

I already found the first user who left fresh retaliation feedback today: SmartPayMINT.
All of a sudden 5 users who left him negative trust were put on DT, but one user who left him positive trust also added him to his trust network. I don't really get why someone would add a Jr. Member after buying an item.
I guess we'll now have to start excluding users when we leave them red trust. In this case:
Code:
~SmartPayMINT
That instantly took away the negative trust for owlcatz, Lesbian Cow and yog. With some fine tuning, this system can work Cheesy
20643  Economy / Speculation / Re: NEW BAKKT game on: January 09, 2019, 05:23:08 PM
I'm not surprised rich people can throw a couple million bucks at something, they can afford to lose it, and if they do this often enough, at least some of their investments will pay off.
What surprises me, is that he's 2 years older than Warren Buffett! I didn't expect that.
20644  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 09, 2019, 05:16:28 PM
I would advise that writing good posts isn't enough - it also depends on where you post them. Many of us, myself included, post mainly in the altcoins section, which is very light on merit. In large part this is because the discussions there in general don't have the technical depth and intelligence that we see in some of the BTC areas.
The altcoin boards suffer from spam, which makes it difficult to find good posts.
But you're more than welcome to link them in |self-moderated| Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source, several Merit Sources are ready to merit good posts that have been overlooked.
20645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: P2P gambling games on: January 09, 2019, 05:03:17 PM
it does not really have to be decentralised but just a platform with gambling games that cannot be influenced by the house.
That will be quite difficult to make. A much easier implementation is one in which the house has no incentive to influence the outcome.

Lets take paper-scissor-rock as example. 2 persons put for example 1000 satoshi each in the pot and then play the game. The person who wins the game will receive the prize pool of 2000 satoshi (minus the fee that the platform is charging).

So it can be decentralised but can also work like a regular online casino with player accounts where people can deposit some money, receive affiliate income and winnings. I think if you want to make it entirely decentralised you must work with a coin or token that has very fast confirmations. A game paper-scissor-rock for example takes less than 30 seconds to end. So it fast transactions should be necessary.
There used to be PvP in Rollin Chatter Box, but the site closed down. It was created by a Mod, had no house edge, and players couldn't influence the outcome.

The biggest I've seen:
Image loading...

But like I said, the site closed down. And although it was popular, at many times there was only one player, so it didn't work. That's one of the main reasons for playing against the house: it's always around.

You would be able to configure games like dice, mines, etc to multiplayer games but then you still have the risk the house manipulates the game and can favourise house players. But like in games I mentioned like rock-scissor-paper or on top of this connect4 this are real P2P games that can't be manipulated by the house. So everyone has a fair 50% chance of winning
How do you know your opponent isn't just an employee who knows that you choose rock before he picks paper?

The easiest thing I can come up with, is what's used for raffles on this forum. I've slightly edited this quote to fit this thread:
How does it work?
Participants choose a character like a normal raffle and post that along with their TXID in this thread.  Once all characters have been paid for, a future block will be chosen to determine the final contestant winner by the last character in the block's hash.
~
PARTICIPANTS:
a - Rmcdermott927
b - Rmcdermott927
c - OneNattyLitecoin
d - Neelix
e - Rmcdermott927
f - Kryptowerk

If people are interested, I can host a game like this, with a 1 mBTC buy in. No "edge" for me, only mining fees.

If I were to start using the word bozo, would that be sufficient proof that there is some kind of secret gang here?
I'll get back to you on that after scraping your 1219 pages of post history.
Update: CONFIRMED Shocked This is an unedited post (bold added by me) from December 19, 2018:

I'm waiting for marlbozora's trust abuse thread. Welp, it's already here.
20648  Other / Meta / Re: Percentage of Merit received on old posts, deleted posts, and average per post on: January 08, 2019, 09:16:21 PM
Bump with small update since I was scraping Lauda's post history anyway:

User Lauda (full history)
  • Received a total of 680 Merit up to last Friday.
  • Received 300 Merit (44.11%) for 22 (0.09%) of 22832 posts created before the introduction of Merit (0.0131 Merit per old post).
  • Received 376 Merit (55.29%) for 127 (8.25%) of 1539 posts created after the introduction of Merit (0.2443 Merit per new post).
  • Received 4 Merit (0.58%) for posts that are now deleted.

Let's say I want my merit score to be more diverse and earn more merits from altcoin shitposters. How exactly would I achieve that?
I expect the users at the bottom of this list to be able to tell you.
20651  Economy / Reputation / Vod, what's with "bozo"? :D on: January 08, 2019, 07:30:20 PM
bozo
a stupid or insignificant man.
noun informal•North American

(source: Google Dictionary)

I'm not a native English speaker, and I don't think I've ever seen the word bozo used anywhere else than here on Bitcointalk, exclusively by Vod Cheesy

I've seen this word a lot lately, so I decided to dig up some quotes:
I'm not going to let a scammer call me a liar, bozo.   Roll Eyes
Bozo.   Roll Eyes
Hey bozo, if you can't stand losing, don't make stupid threads.   Roll Eyes
How is five days a long term offer bozo?   Roll Eyes
Sorry bozo, but ignorance does not mean magic.  Your thoughts do nothing but make you a slave.
Hey bozo - have you not read the thread?
Sorry bozo, but you don't know what "proof" means.
Bonus for bozos:  The shortest distance on a flat plane is a straight line.  The shortest distance on a sphere is a curved line.  What type of line do your pretty pictures show?
An angle does not measure size, bozo.
Bozo.   Wink
You are a bozo.
You live in a fantasy world, bozo.   Wink
There is no comment.  Only friends can comment.  Lies like this will not help your court case bozo.   Wink
Hey bozo,
And that is not going to happen with a dishonest bozo like yourself.
Anything else, bozo?   Cool
Please add me to your revenge list bozo - I am enjoying your idiocy.  Smiley
So bozo, what am I being hypocritical about?
Hey Bozo, ICO discussion is not allowed here.  Read the ONE sticky and move your thread.
Can you imagine what his wife must be like?  Gets drunk at a party, gets knocked up, and has to spend her married life agreeing with the bozo.  Poor girl.  Sad
Enjoy the trust bozo...
As soon as this bozo brings up a god, you should know he is not dealing with a full deck.
This bozo sent me a PM laced with profanity.
I received six messages from that bozo....
Anyone giving this bozo merit should be careful they don't get negative tagged.  Merit sales are discouraged on this forum.
Some bozo has decided to attack my "unofficially announced" website - BPIP.  :/
Fixed Bozo...
Bozo forgets about the Doppler effect.   Wink
You are the furthest thing possible from a fair and impartial judge, bozo.
Hey bozo, have you investigated any of the evidence for dragons?  How about unicorns?  How about gods?
Turns out the bozo who was going to launch himself to prove the earth was flat, failed again today.  He simply refused to press
You are wrong about me bozo.  I don't have any competitors on this forum.  :/
I don't think they had movies back then bozo...   Wink
I notice the bozo said [Have proofs] but of course he didn't.   And he won't ever.
That is not a udemy course, you bozo.
Hey bozo... try using a toilet.  Flush it.
Hey bozo, how do you think the internet works if not by satellites?   Cheesy
That reads like a threat to me bozo.  :/
I've been negative trusting these bozos, which shuts them down - but for every one I tag, 50 more pop up.  :/
Listen bozo, I'll make this very clear to you.  When a person starts to threaten me in PM and post lies about me on the forum, I end all dealings with that person.  Life is too short to deal with dishonest people.
Hey bozo - he asked, I answered.  Smiley

I've excluded posts from locked topics, quoting them is too much work. It's an impressive list nonetheless Tongue

(obviously, I was bored Cheesy)
20652  Economy / Reputation / Re: cryptohunter's problem with the top 200 merit receivers on: January 08, 2019, 06:53:55 PM
I'm creating self-moderated threads thanks to your incontinence. But this one is not, feel free to post your garbage here
I got sucked into another thread, but quickly deleted my reply there. This seems like the right place to post it again:

I got summoned in another cryptohunter thread. So let me add one thing: theymos just doubled my Merit Source amount. I can only assume that means theymos agrees with the posts (read again: "posts", not "users"!) I merit.
As for receiving Merit: feel free to do the math on my account: take away all Merit received from the Top 200 Merit Receivers, then take away all Merit received for posts in Meta. Then take away 50% more, just for the heck of it, and I'll still have more Merit than CH Cheesy
Maybe the moral of this story is: stop complaining, and start contributing!
20653  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MERITS: Will doing this be uncertain, or should I do this? on: January 08, 2019, 06:07:15 PM
I'm also scared of one thing that when we give higher amount of merits to users, others start backbiting and say that this user is an alt of that and blah! blah!
Merit isn't only meant to limit ranking up, it's also meant to highlight good posts. I wouldn't send all merit to just one post, make the amount appropriate to the quality of the posts. I first did that here:
If I interpret this post from theymos slightly out of context:
~ if they have decent posts, by all means, give them the 250 or 500 merit that they need to rank-up.
You're not a spammer, you engage in decent conversation, and you use the forum as a forum instead of an ATM. I think you deserve the Merit needed to rank up.

I'm posting this here as a reference in case someone wonders/questions why I went on a meriting spree Smiley
Note: sending Merit doesn't necessarily mean I agree with a post.
This was my Merit spree:

By spreading the Merit over many posts, you also get to read them and make sure the user deserves it.
A week after I did this, theymos doubled my source sMerit, so I assume it's approved Cheesy

I made another "targeted Rank up" here and unloaded some more here.

However, I wouldn't have done this if I wouldn't be a Merit source. Do with my opinion what you want Smiley

(As i'm pretty sure no user has ever received more than 250 merit in 1 go..?)
The maximum is 50 per post, and 50 per user per month.

You can also see a list of "Top merit senders to permabanned users" here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topsendban. There are some very senior members on that list, including several staff members. They are not held responsible. If users were held responsible
That list doesn't say anyting about the posts, a banned user can still have good posts (let's ignore plagiarism for this statement Tongue ).

What kind of BS is this? I'm pretty sure the police in Luxembourg doesn't play messenger for random people. They also don't play judge.

20656  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: why don't we have campaigns using lightning network in the forum yet? on: January 08, 2019, 04:15:47 PM
LN is not stable and should not be used on the main net. The developers themselves said so, who are we to say otherwise?

I understand that people want to experiment and push for adoption but If people lose their money in the process, that doesn't help.
So far, I haven't read anything about people losing money due to LN-bugs. That would indeed be very bad publicity if that happens.
However, I wouldn't mind putting a few mBTC in an experimental system. Consider it play money.
I must admit I still haven't installed a LN wallet though.
20657  Economy / Reputation / Re: [self-moderated] Report to Merit Source on: January 08, 2019, 07:26:16 AM
We're doing great. We have merited ONE WHOLE POST in just three days.
On a positive note: that post gained 11 Merit since being posted.

This seems to be a recurring theme that's just being played on repeat. A user complains loudly about all the "great newbie posts not getting merited". An offer is made to provide links to these posts so we can shower them with merit. We get no response. The user in question then either conveniently forgets about the whole thing or disappears altogether. Then nothing for a few weeks until the next user complains and the whole thing starts again.
Hence this topic, send them here Cheesy

And yeah, this thread so far is a disappointment.  Maybe Jr. Members are now starting to accept that they might not ever make it past that rank
Or maybe they just know their posts aren't good at all, and the chances of getting busted for plagiarism are larger than the chance of getting Merit. This nicely sums up my response to the last Newbie I saw complain about Merit:
Brutal.
20658  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Default trust system still working/active? on: January 08, 2019, 07:14:22 AM
Can you exclude accounts who have DT in their trust network and make a list of accounts with only custom list? Just to see how many people have removed DT from the list.
I can't, the data dump doesn't show "DefaultTrust", only individual usernames.

Quote
How can I see someone's trust list without including them to my trust list?
See https://bitcointalk.org/trust.txt.xz, or for the uncompressed version from 3 days ago: https://pastebin.com/3CiX1T9p

It may be interesting to see the total number of entries: 22,605. That means just a few entries per user on average, which is far from enough to replace the DT-system.

People should use custom lists and they should be encouraged and incentivized to do so.
Encourage them: drop a link to Trust settings once in a while Smiley
20659  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Freebitco.in provably cheating on: January 08, 2019, 06:43:56 AM
Since acusation of the site's cheating right before 1Jan2019, the winning claim on another post popup like coming from nowhere (at least 5 nick names with $20 win). "God of luck" ilsten to you guys..lol.
Nothing changed there, there were always many users winning $20. This topic is not claiming nobody is winning, it's claiming not enough users win.
