2081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Storj - Decentralized Storage on: July 23, 2014, 01:50:07 AM
Just translated the OP post in the Italian Sub Forum:

http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=705972

Maybe someone could do the same for other languages?

I've also added some more translations of blog posts to it that I've done on the main StorjTalk Forum:

2082  Local / Annunci / [ANN] Storj - Storage Decentralizzato on: July 23, 2014, 01:45:08 AM

Caratteristiche Principali

Meno costoso per lo stesso standard di ridondanza del settore, uptime e affidabilità;
Preferibilmente crittografia client-side e hashing eseguite automaticamente prima di caricare in modo che tutti i dati sulla rete Storj siano crittografati e anonimi;
Codice open source rilasciato sotto la licenza MIT;

Rinraziamenti Speciali

I'm in too! Like the idea so just got some StorjX! Hope we will eventually get a wallet client for the coins.

Is there a wallet to store StorJ Coins locally? Do they need to be kept on Counterwallet?

2086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: July 16, 2014, 12:03:32 AM
I love your responses "Skycoin" they could all be bound together in a well informative book!

Mesh Networks are a great way to decentralise everything, just need to get them to grow steadily although the infrastructure relies heavily on users' own funds and expertise. But I see the start will be over IPV4, which makes sense for the network to grow quickly. Looking forward to it.

These sort of projects take a long time, look at Ethereum, BitShares, MaidSafe, etc. There seems to be a lot of projects (including Skycoin) that are trying to solve as much as they can within their own project boundaries. There are a lot of great minds hard at work at the moment, all for different "brand/project names" with missions at times impossible to complete with their own resources. Can you imagine if one or more of the above projects would start to cooperate with each other and share code, resources, ideas and implement things together? Now that would be something!

Of course all of the current projects sound like they will be Open Source so I'm confident that many of their products/services will be able to at least interact with each other and even work in unison. I see there will eventually be the need for some sort of standard bits of code/APIs which (pardon my ignorance) will allow for multiple projects to work with each other. With too many projects with such great ambitions, how will the rest of us be able to choose which one is best or even where to start?

On another note I have a feeling that Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft and the likes are closely observing the Bitcoin 2.0 movement and learning about it. Open Source is like "patents for some Asian manufacturers" = copycats. So what stops the big blues above from making their own versions of some of the projects, give them a nice user friendly GUI, integrate them with their existing successful products and get instant and broad user adoption? Considering their huge development and funding resources I don't think this scenario is too far from a near future reality. Even though they may not be as privacy concerned as the Bitcoin 2.0 projects are, they may take off just because they are easy to use for the masses. Usability is something to keep well in mind when thinking of mass adoption potential.

Nevertheless, I support Skycoin and everyone else who can come up with a way to better privacy, personal finance, communications, exchange of goods and services and so on. People like the above will make a difference in the near future for the rest of us. Give it time, a revolution is just beginning! Just hope for all them projects not to get exploited by the current status quo.

Interesting update, these challenges are the base to decentralisation:

QUOTE:
In particular
- how do you quickly find efficient routes when addresses are non-topological?
- how do you quickly find efficient routes in a fully decentralized manner?
- how do you set up routes between N nodes without incuring the round trip latency between each node in chain?
- how do you deal with nodes with rapidly changing multipath connectivity (mobile-ad hoc routing)

Hope with time the Skycoin Dev Team can find an optimal solution to them.
Also hope that someone out there would cooperate or help in solving them.

Maybe starting with a website where all the info about Skycoin, Meshnet, etc is available is one place?
I know most info is on GitHub but I think an easy to read site would be more popular and attract more views and potential interest from knowledgeable people/organisations that could help reaching the final goal.

Hey Flappy, are you the UK reseller?

Yes  Smiley

Dear FlappySocks, if you are the UK reseller, could you please send an update email to your customers like when you went to China to see BA?
When do you expect the orders to be delivered? What options do we have? Do we get 3TH's as promised by BA? Chips instead of miners? Power Supply included with compensation unit? Are you able to offer refunds like MS is doing?
That would be nice.

What happened to the megacoin.co.nz website? It says account suspended?
Only forum.megacoin.co.nz seems to be working.

Dear Customers,

We are happy to let you know that we've just solved the SPI issues.

In the picture below we run only at 1.1Ghz instead of 1.2Ghz because we've hardcoded the voltage at 0.81V and 2 ASICs needed a little bit more.

Our plan is to tape out the new backplane in 1-2 days, start shipping of X3 on 23rd (after we get the PCBs back and we assemble them). We should be able to deliver all X3s by the end of the month.

Thanks for the news, and well done in solving the issue with the backplane. Will batch 2 customers also get some compensation seen the delay?
That would be fair.

Security Projects Team

The security application team will work on projects such as
- make application permissions for resource access transparent and specific
- restricting applications from accessing data outside of their application folder
- restricting applications from network access if not required
- dedicated hardware device for key storage and signing, independent of the CPU
- dedicated hardware device for running Skywire Applications independent of CPU (FPGA?)
- dedicated hardware device for Skywire Networking Stack
- fuzzing of all external libraries used in sandbox stack
- ability to audit for unauthorized data ex-filtration and unauthorized resource access
- ability to detect, record and replay microcode exploit attacks
- platform based deterministic builds (detects compiler backdoors)
- automatic reporting of inputs and program state that result in crashes
- compartmentalization of application dependencies
- minimizing the amount of code (2000 lines, not 250,000 lines)
- minimizing application dependencies
- moving Debian towards good default security (fine grained application resource permissions, deterministic builds, usability for security)

Now if you guys can pull this off... this could be the beginning of a new computing era.
I was avidly reading your last update and I'm impressed with the plans for the future of Skycoin.

All the points made about security of current software and hardware solutions are valid and yes, scary!
Secure and private communications are a hot topic nowadays and the possibility that this project will strive to come up with effective solutions makes me want to support it even more!

I'm no coding expert nor an electronic engineer but I know a thing or 2 about OSs, Mobile Devices, Routers and Antennas.

I would love to become a meshnet node and provide a setup with antenna or multiple ones. I'm in London, UK and have quite a few friends who will be interested to help to. Any chance there will be some step by step instructions on how to set the nodes up? I've seen a post on this thread on best antennas but little info on how to set up a node. Anymore info/instructions Skycoin can share would be appreciated as I want to be ready when this project goes live and be part of "the revolution". Thanks in advance.  Grin
2094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin on: June 12, 2014, 11:16:57 AM
Added some android apps to google play:

Tagcash - main app to transfer points, multi currency, BTC and TAG. Also has a trading engine built in.
Tagcash Merchant - authorised merchants can use this app to charge users in the above currencies.
Tagcash KYC - for cash in cash out agents to create accounts or to authorize accounts to use the cash wallet system.

Currently revamping Tagbond, primarily as a platform for points creation, management and use. Also working on separation of Tagcash code from Tagbond, and craetion of wordpress plugins for tagbond and tagcash.

+1 Good work!

2099  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner on: June 05, 2014, 07:47:54 AM
I still have not paid my 2/3 balance for the 250Mhs unit.
Do you think I can get a "full" refund at this moment?

I got a refund from Alpha-T for my order (paid in January) on PayPal the other day, half the deposit - £70 handling fee.
I rather that than wasting another £5000 on a miner that may or may not get you much money.
If I would invest that £5000 in BTC today I will most definitely make a much better return than going ahead with my order.
