3 / 10 "...But Ready says betting on bitcoin now is a lot like betting on mobile commerce three or four years ago. People shopping on their phones back then was a very small part of the online shopping market. But that percentage has grown, and Braintree was able to ride that wave to its current success. Coinbase has only 1.6 million users compared to PayPal’s 150 million, according to figures from both companies." http://www.wired.com/2014/09/paypals-support-is-the-best-thing-that-could-happen-to-bitcoin/

if paypal accepts bitcoin it would mean you can pay almost anywhere! but i am afraid of fees Knowing Paypal, you are right to be wary of exorbitant fees. Bear in mind, however, that Paypal does and will continue to have competitors in the market. Sooner or later, this competition will ultimately force them to reduce fees or be driven out of business, just as it is forcing them to adopt Bitcoin now.

mirror neurons?..like the communist movie avatar
Mirror neurons, like the indisputable scientific proof that higher-order mammals are neuro-biologically wired for empathy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_neuron#EmpathyKeep fighting for ignorance with your one-liner platitudes and empty cinema-based conspiracy theory arguments, though. You're doing great.

I've made that argument before, but my point is they haven't even implemented bitcoin yet. Seems silly to be advertising bitcoin before they've even got something in place. It's probably the beginning of a very carefully planned Public Relations / ad campaign wherein Paypal tries to maneuver themselves into the position of "trusted bitcoin service". They have hungry eyes on Coinbase / Bitpay's marketshare I'm sure.

That video is quite disturbing. Have they been hacked or something? I don't see why PayPal would be advertising bitcoin right now without having something in it or announced. It's a direct competitor to them.
They have no choice. They can reject bitcoin and die, or embrace it and survive. It's ALWAYS better to cannibalize your own profits than to have some competitor do it for you. Blockbuster failed to learn that lesson in time. Looks like Paypal doesn't want to make the same mistake.

Socialism, Libertarianism, Communist, Anarchist, Capitalist, right wing, left wing, centre left wing, centre right wing, and so on.
They are all labels, for those who stopped evolving. "Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire." & "I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do." - Robert A. Heinlein

By your argument, only 1 in 20 people would risk themselves during a disaster to rescue a trapped person. History begs to differ. Study the history of disaster responses - strangers risking themselves to help strangers - and try to find a way to fit that reality with this absurdly fundamentalist "biological market theory" of yours. Try to explain this http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org, with your "biological market theory". Ongoing research on the recently discovered mirror neurons among most mammals - including humans, horses, dogs, chimps, and probably dolphins and elephants as well (pending further research) - strongly indicates that most mammels are neuro-biologically wired for empathy and compassion. There is no "marketplace" activity happening here in the Mammalian Class. There is no competition. We give our empathy freely, as nature has designed us to do so. Cooperation and mutual aid, it turns out, are evolutionary advantageous in a dangerous world.

Tell me beli, among 7 billion world population
How many you think will be selfish and how many will act in the interest of the collective or society?
7 billion will act selfish and 7 billion will act in the interests of the collective, at different times, for different reasons, in different ways. Sometimes self-interest aligns with collective interest. Other times people go to extremes and rational self-interest falls completely away, replaced by pure rage and righteous indignation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Th%C3%ADch_Qu%E1%BA%A3ng_%C4%90%E1%BB%A9chttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohamed_BouaziziIt must be nice to live in a surreal bubble wherein all thought is hyper-simplified; wherein every argument can be diluted down to a simple on/off, good/bad, yes/no scenario. Tell me, is willful ignorance truly bliss? Back here on reality ranch, witness capitalism in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP7L8bw5QF4

Instead of transaction fees going to pay miners, its actually possible to instead store some of those fees in a fund on the network, which can be payed out to long term Bitcoin holders. Speaking as a long-term holder who would stand to benefit from your proposal...

Why do you have bitcoins? Cause I'm mad smart and rationally self-interested. And because I love reason and loathe violence. What is your strategy?

That was my first thought, however since bitcoin is one of now thousands cryptos and services could just hop to better return on investment value (...).
All the others are irrelevant, in the end there can only be one. And Bitcoin is it. Sorry, all you altcoin supporters, but it's true. None of the others matter one lick, and in the not-too-distant future, none of the current altcoins will even exist, as far as the world is concerned. I don't see why there should be only one, competition is good even for the leading competitor. "So for the benefit of all the derps derping about “cryptocurrencies” : there is no such thing. There’s Bitcoin and that’s it, because there can only be one. All the rest of the crap exists only inasmuch as a) it stays theoretical or b) it stays small enough nobody cares. Where a) and b) are only distinct in the derp point of view, otherwise they’re the same thing. But good luck with all the community-of-retards driven, super-duper-innovative, ultra-mega-creative, asic-resistant, future-of-revolution-and-everything altcoins." -Mircea Popescu http://trilema.com/2014/the-woes-of-altcoin-or-why-there-is-no-such-thing-as-cryptocurrencies/This man, Mircea Popescu, is ostensibly more intelligent than me. Which means, dear reader, he is ipso facto almost certainly far more intelligent than you. You should therefore heed his wisdom with great care.

I must admit I'm disappointed with you Charlie. If you are truly innocent then you must not plead guilty to *ANY* charges that you did not commit. We cannot permit the Federal Mafia to simply threaten everyone into submission. This sets a very bad precedent for the future and other Bitcoin users.
Everybody caves if the coercion is strong enough. Everyone. That's one reason a coercive regime is so repugnant. "Do it to Julia". "In the first stage of political re-education, Winston Smith admits to and confesses to crimes he did and did not commit, implicating anyone and everyone, including Julia. In the second stage, O'Brien makes Winston understand that he is rotting away; by this time he is little more than skin and bones. Winston counters: "I have not betrayed Julia." O'Brien agrees Winston had not betrayed Julia because he "had not stopped loving her; his feelings toward her had remained the same." One night, in his cell, Winston awakens, screaming: "Julia! Julia! Julia, my love! Julia!" O'Brien rushes into the cell and sends him to Room 101, the most feared room in the Ministry of Love, where resides each prisoner's worst fear, which is forced upon him or her. In Room 101 is Acceptance, the final stage of the political re-education of Winston Smith, whose primal fear of rats is invoked when a wire cage holding hungry rats is fitted onto his face. As the rats are about to reach Winston's face, he shouts: "Do it to Julia!" thus betraying her and relinquishing his love for her." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four#Confession_and_betrayalWe don't have this type of torture in our modern society, but we do have Rape Dungeons that we euphemistically name "prisons", where an estimated 20% of male prisoners will face sexual assault - one of the worst fears of any man.

That's some bullshit, he didn't do anything wrong.
It's a good old fashioned witch hunt, plain and simple. Every criminal empire has it's scapegoats. Bitcoiners and drug users/sellers are the new scapegoats. But it doesn't really matter. These fuckwit violent oligarchs have no legitimacy left. http://www.npr.org/2011/11/25/142705292/even-lawmakers-ask-does-anyone-like-congressEven 9/11 couldn't save them from themselves: Now it's just a waiting game for the inevitable power collapse and revolution.
