2081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a steady income haven on: June 16, 2023, 02:36:02 PM
Gambling is fine as long as people treat it for what it is, which is just a way to entertain ourselves, the problem appears when people want to make of gambling something that is not, so those that want to earn a lot of money with it are the ones that are more prone to become addicted, as once they fail to reach their goals instead of giving up they will keep trying to become profitable, then they may give up on that idea but they may want to recover the money they have lost, only to discover they will keep losing more and more money.
Gambling is only a way for me to get some more money in my pockets; I do not depend on it since it's never trustworthy to rely on anything that's governed by some fixed cooperation; it's unreliable. No gambler expects to be on the losing side; everyone expects to be on the winning streak. Gambling is never an option to consider for numerous sources of income; of course, earnings are not always recorded; some days, huge losses emerge. The aim is to examine good gambling tactics that will assist in printing more money in each game executed.
Indeed there are days when huge loses will come and days when we will some profits but in overall the losses always supersede the profits and every gamblers knows this except he or she is choosing to lie to himself and is planning on making consistent wins on gambling. For me , I understand the whole process that is involved with gambling and I know the risk that is involved so when the losses come it doesn't affect me much.
2082  Other / Off-topic / Re: was it that easy to learn a reputable member posting format? on: June 16, 2023, 02:28:43 PM
Even though I described some aspects in which you might want be considerate of your reader, I doubt that the reason that you came to the forum is to write for others or to build an audience and blah blah blah.. so in some sense, you likely came to the forum for yourself and to learn and to potentially attempt to learn better by interacting with other members and the topic, so in some sense, I frequently will tell forum members who are complaining about what i wrote or that I wrote too much.. "fuck you guys.. I did not write my post in order to satisfy you or even to gain a popularity contest.  I wrote my post for myself to explore my ideas, and if any of you or none of you can relate, then so fucking what?  That's not my problem.  You can scan through it or you can ignore it.. You do not need to read my post and to attempt to figure if it is up to your standards or come to some kind of diagnosis of my psychological stability."

Not trying to be arrogant about the situation because there still is likely a need for some kind of balance, yet sometimes I will still respond to forum members when there might seem to be a lot of haters that might be telling me that I don't know anything, that no body likes me, that I need to go see a psychologist and/or various other similar kinds of remarks... hahahahaha

I bet even in real life I would recommend you as a lecturer because your pertern of writing is what I have not seen any memeber here to compare. Saying, am not only relating it to how lengthy it could be but what really matters is how you take your time to explain in details all the needed points for someone to really understand everything perfectly.

I can't really write at length, not because I don't really know what to talk about most times, but just because I am not very good with words, I might have up to five points to make in a particular topic, but after dropping the first and second point, some times it becomes a bit confusing on how to arrange the other point in a way it doesn't get confusing to the reader. But I know since am still starting, it will take a bit time to really develop my self to know how to play around words very well and can enable me make more detail point rather than few.

You know that if someone is in the mist of either strangers or familiar people, there is every possibility that only a few people Among them will like you, but what does it matter, the fact is that what you are doing, you are doing it correctly to your satisfaction and its well comprehensive for Many. Lazy people don't read lengthy stuffs, all they do is look for whom to blame.
A lecturer indeed, at first when I was still surfing the forum for discussion where I can chip in or two, I would admit that I was really scared and lazy to read some of his post looking at how lengthy it is, but the moments I started summing up the courage to read his post I found out that its actually not that long because the interesting details and points makes it looks easy as if am not reading a long write up and thats because it is one among the unique writing techniques in the community that you can easily understand.

I would definitely recommend you for a lecturer too myself. But sometimes it does amazes me at the level of which your write up can be so lenghty and still be so detailed.
2083  Other / Off-topic / Re: was it that easy to learn a reputable member posting format? on: June 16, 2023, 12:31:52 AM
.

Regarding length, I would not necessarily recommend, and it might be better to work your way up to length if you think that length might be suitable for points that you are wanting to make.. but if you come to a post and you want to respond with two points, and then as you are writing, you realize that you might want to make a third point, but as you are thinking about the third point, you realize that you do not know exactly how the third point fits within the topic, and you consider that you don't know enough about the third point.. so you might decide that it is better to stick with your original 2 points and to leave out the 3rd point rather than to write about a point that you are tentatively not sure how it fits.. and so it may be better in certain circumstances to leave out one of the additional points because you are too unsure how it relates and/or if it relates and how to express yourself clearly on that third point if it were to relate.

This particular issue has been a major issue for me sometimes but like you said I just later leave the other extra points am trying to include and just stick to the actually ones I had in mind. Even upon writing this reply I wanted to add few extra thought on this but don't know how to really express it again because on typing the extra idea it felt as if am stuck and don't really know how to express it anymore so I went edited it and said the one that was first in my head. Writing sometimes can be difficult but I feel if you can self train yourself in a specific manner which you can easily express yourself and others too understanding your comments, then you are good to go because the reader perspectives should be considered when trying to write or communicate.
2084  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling addiction causes ear deafness? on: June 16, 2023, 12:16:05 AM
That title confused me to be honest with you op. I thought you meant ear deafness in the literal sense here. Anyway, I don't have any friends who cannot control their gambling addictions since they don't really wager much.

However, I know how difficult it is to control your gambling addiction based on my personal experience. It can get really, really scary sometimes.
Also thought this way but it turns out to be different.
Well, gambling addiction can cause a lot of stress and might trigger sickness as well. If your friend are more responsible in gambling then its good but if you have a friend who are still struggling and their situation slowly becoming worst, better to help them as early as possible. Addiction is not a joke, and you should treat this seriously at all cost.
I support addiction is never a joking issue, only someone who has been in this problem would truly understand how devastating the habit can be. Although I don't about it causing deafness but it can cause serious mental trauma and can leave the victim stupendously stranded on his mistakes and regrets. So if anyone is actually addicted to gambling and you know this, helping him can go a long way to saving his remaining financial life because an addiction is not something that should be ignored.
2085  Other / Meta / Re: Offensive words on the forum on: June 15, 2023, 08:46:13 PM
I didn't find any newbie SOKO- DEKE on that thread and also I can't even find a post stating the word "Non-Sense".

SOKO-DEKE is far from a beginner Wink I don't understand why the author of the topic mentions him at all. There is nothing offensive from SOKO-DEKE in the thread he links to. He's just talking about bitcoin, that's all.
Yeah, the op should understand that human are bound for correction so if someone actually says something against your post or reply to a thread the best thing you should do especially in the big community like this is just to take as a positive energy for yourself and instead of whining, you should just learn a lesson from it or just ignore it as every normal average person would do. And by the soko deke himself would have received a couple of correction in his struggle to improve here in the community and thats why he is just following the circle of things and correcting others thats needs it.
2086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Easy or hard to quit? on: June 15, 2023, 08:35:13 PM
Can you quit gambling if you make a life changing money and never go back to gambling?

I asked this because those who made some money through gambling near me always go back to gamble and they end up losing everything they once made through gambling.

Is it fine to say that people should not go back into gambling once they made high amount of money? Because the chance of losing that money again is very high, even if they don't use all the money to gamble at once, gambling can take it all back in time.

Have you ever won a high amount of money from gambling and managed to not lose them all back to gambling? And to date, you are still gambling?
I don't know why but it seem like all the thread and topics in the gambling board is just a repetition of always said and discussed issues, most users just tend to repeat same topic over and over again. Well everyone knows by now that to stop gambling its not easy especially if you are addicted to it but the issue here is that most addicted person never actually know they are addicted and doesn't realize the urgency to stop this act of their or should I say problem.
2087  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Binance changes terms of service on: June 14, 2023, 07:51:36 PM
wey talk say binance make small change for their terms and condition say if dem delist any coin and u still dey hold ahn dem fit convert ahn to anoda without ur consent
In as much as the value of the converted coin is same as that which was delisted,  for me, I don't think I will have any problem with that, because it's left for you the user to either convert your coin to stablecoin, Bitcoin, altcoins or rather withdraw the funds using p2p, because we all know that Binance is one exchange that is so selective when it comes to listing coin, and if they may they found a coin to be of risk to it's customer, & delist it, it's for your best interest. But in a situation whereby the value of my initial coin was $100 and after it's been converted to another coin of value $70, then only if will such terms & condition not be favorable to it's users.

The recent news about binance been banned in Nigeria sef make me fear small because I was worried of the way I have become so dependent on binance for the exchanging of my coins but I later come understand say the whole tori na just awareness story wey sec dey try tell most binance operator for naija here to be very careful about their assets in their system. But I know if binance had to change any term and conditions it will be of their customer benefits because they are the number exchange in the world today and it has not been easy to maintain such names.
2088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Nations League final four ⚽ on: June 14, 2023, 07:41:08 PM
At the moment, both teams seem to be evenly matched. The possession of the ball is almost identical, and both teams have managed two shots on goal.
Netherlands have a goal lead, a goal that came from an unexpected ball well worked from Gakpo to Ake who has had a great season and into the penalty of the Croatians for the Netherland player to find Donyell Malen who with a very well targeted shot put the ball at the end of the goal to beat Dominik Livakovic. Croatia will work harder to try to beat Netherlands very strong defence having Denzel Dumfries who was able to stop Grealish in the just played UCL finals, Virgil Van Dijk from Liverpool with his height, and Nathan Ake from treble winning Manchester City. It is almost Halftime and Netherlands will like it very much if they carry this their advantage into the Halftime.
They have an impressive line up and teams but I still doubt that the score is going to end on one nil because am very certain of this Croatian team and their fighting spirit so I won't be surprise if they can manage an equaliser in the second half of play. Croatia is one of the strong and most stubborn teams to defeat so the Netherlands should know that they are in for a tough game tonight.

2090  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: June 14, 2023, 07:29:36 PM
If there's nothing on the line then it's not gambling.
Sure mate, what make is a gamble is when there is a stake on the line, this is what most people done to understand and they think that just getting involved in games is all gambling and that is not true because there is nogamblingsf nothing to lose, quite alright we can spend our time in playing game like ludo cheese and I'm the rest but we can't gamble with time, we only gamble by staking money so without money there is indeed no gambling.
Hmm but I beg the differ on this, because I have come to realize this afternoon when I was playing some card games with my wife that  gamble can still be done without staking cash but a challenge would somehow replace it. Like the game we played, we had to bet that anyone who losses would have to cook evening food for the whole week for the other partner and we began the card games and luckily for I came out victorious and she had to succum to it but it was really not much of any difference since she is still the one taking care of that aspect Grin
Well for me it can't be considered as gambling because nothing is at stake if ever you lose, it's just a friendly bet, more on a challenge as you've said. I also tried this kind of challenge with my sister, instead of money we're betting on who's the one who will do the household chores through playing chess. Unfortunately I always lose because my sister is quite good in it, back on the days gadgets and having an internet are not yet popular. Anyway, it's been said many times here, when there's no money or valuable things are at stake, it's not gambling.
Many of us do this kind of betting but in this bet there is nothing to fear. This type of betting doesn't have the same excitement that we get when we lose or come close to losing in real betting. Here we get the main difference. To be a valid bet I think there has to be a transaction where someone loses and someone benefits. If money or any other asset is exchanged, the bet will be considered as a valid bet. But in the case bet between close friends or relatives without money that will not be considered as valid bet.

Well most people here will have a different opinion towards it and looking at the words you have already used to describe it "bet" making it fall under the that same category you are protesting about. Although if its actually look at from the main angle, gamble or bet involves when two or more participants throw their different at different odds for a particular outcome to be achieved.
2091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 14, 2023, 07:23:27 PM
People are still Gambling. WHY? Is There Any Mystery Behind? [/b]

when you are still a child, and given such an education, then you will not know the truth. yes, maybe there are more negatives and you will obey what your parents say.
but when you become an adult, you have your financial management. you don't need to depend on your parents anymore. and you are free to do whatever. you are free to be what you want. including spending your money in the casino or spending your money in the bar.
do it when you are responsible enough for what you do. if you still feel it is detrimental to you then avoid gambling and follow the words of your parents.
Grin nice advice and am pretty sure he is on this particular trend one or the other because in this particular world we are living there is always something that eats up the money of man in which he derives joy from and for different people it also varies. For most people its gamble while others might drugs, alcohol, womanising and so many other unnecessary things but its still done anyway just because of the joy derived from it.
2092  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why we kicked out cryptocurrency - CBN on: June 13, 2023, 09:07:01 PM
From di discussion of dis topic show say we no even know di reason why di CBN ban cryptocurrency for naija. For what ever reason wey dem get, ban na ban, so as dem no tell us officially the reason for di ban, e go de expected say different people go de bring different theories as to why dem ban am. Me I de look ahead to when dem go comot di ban, Aldo as e be now e be like say hope de for dat area, because as I de hear say dem wan begin tax crypto  transactions. So hopefully we go also de do bitcoin exchanges for our banks.
Oga me I dey think say this ban no go actually comot oo even with this present new administration because the core problem from reading this news be say these people no actually no watin be crypto currency and anything wey you no understand you no go wan like implemente am and this na actually the major problem for other country dem too not only Nigeria.
2093  Other / Meta / Re: Offensive words on the forum on: June 13, 2023, 09:01:08 PM

If you're not ready to be critized by others then bitcointalk is not for you.

I have gone through SOKO-DEKE's post in that thread and I don't see any part of his reply where he called the post nonsense. The only thing there was him stating the obvious, it's never a good idea to invest for anyone no matter how close they are to you, it's always better to educate them on the issue and if they like the idea they can proceed not you getting involved in their investment what if the whole investment scheme doesn't go as planned what do you think will happen to you?

I think you need to reread that post and get a better understanding of his reply.

Well I don't know why people easily get offended by replies on their thread or post but c'mon its the fucking internet for God sake and anyone and everyone has its own opinion, its now left for you to look take it to your own advantage. I could also remember some few post by other members including myself which was heavily criticized but I didn't take as an insult rather I took to my own advantage and adjust my way of replying for cases that I deem wrong by me and other which weren't important I just snubbed.

A little ignorance can go a long way.
2094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: June 13, 2023, 08:50:05 PM
To be honest, even though we already know the teams that will be playing in the Champions League next season but still, because even at this moment it is still in the moment of rest for all the leagues. So of course, we will not be able to predict the ability and or performance of each team. Because after all, each team will also get new players and players who leave, so to predict their current performance for the Champions League match later I think it's still too early.
I think you are right on that plus the fact that international games will be going on like the African nation cup and Europe nation league will also leave a lot of ups and downs in the performance of the players when they resume back for club performance. But notwithstanding following up with the stats of team and signing after this international games can give an insight to how clubs will be ready to face off during champions league.
2095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? on: June 13, 2023, 08:36:03 PM
When gambling there is no room for feeling and things like that. That only comes when you have lost your last euro on the gambling site and there is the realization that the entire bank balance is gone again. Then I'm pretty sure there are a lot of players who are remorseful when they're in that position, but another question would be if they learned anything from this? Often they feel like shit for a few hours, but the next day they already have another betting system ready and so we actually get a vicious circle with these players.
Well every gambler can relate to what you are saying and this feeling doesn't seem to ever end but the good thing is that one should have something that always relax the mind whenever he or she experience such lost and that way you won't do anything stupid in that little minutes of ever regretting you play the gamble in the first place.

2097  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Cryptocurrency in Nigeria: From ban to taxation on: June 12, 2023, 07:55:24 PM
Dat act wey di former president signed, I no sure sae dis present president go even use am. Tinubu na progressivist so anything wey no resemble im, im no dey use am. If Nigerian government won dey tax cryptocurrency den let dem convert E-naira to exchange platforms so dat piple go visit am well well. Den dem fit collect their tax from there. Nigeria just need good working Economics team wey go make things very good for di country.

Di best ecoonomics team wey e don come to this country nai be Goodluck time. Omen that team was very good.
I don't know why the sequence tend to trend in  every Nigerian mindset which is that the previous adminstration did beta than the current one but na only this buhari regime nai people just dey think opposite of the mata because we don really suffer well well, but I think its rather too early to saying thing about this adminstration. But I also believe that goodluck tenure was also an extortion of Nigerian funds from different angles.
2098  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 12, 2023, 07:49:19 PM
People are saying that gambling is not good so nobody should involved themselves in it. Fathers/Mothers (parents) are shouting to their sons and sometimes beating them all because of gambling. If you are a gambler, the society sees you as a bad boy or person or a waste person in the family. Parents would be saying "look at your age mates, they are going to school and become a successful persons in the society, you are here playing gambling". They would even say, gamblers steal and thieves.
And really when you look at some of those boys they play Draft game morning till evening. Upon all these allegations against gambling. People are still Gambling. WHY? Is There Any Mystery Behind?
A rather interesting topic but the obvious answer is just because it just feel that space of your mind that you are actually predicting a future occurance of something and that give the human thought so joy and that why its very fun to gamble but to some extent people actually gamble because of hope that they can hit their main target someday and this hope continues everyday in their lifes @HOPE
2099  Other / Meta / Re: [Bitcointalk Party - Discord sv] Bitcoin Pizza bake-off contest! Enter by June 1 on: June 12, 2023, 07:43:01 PM
I've been mostly ignoring this (I don't mess with Discord), so take my observations with a big ol' pinch of salt, but those results seem... odd.

Ale88 has way too few votes (when I saw his entry, I thought: "Okay, well, that's the winner right there!").
Thanks for your kind message, I really appreciate it!  Smiley

Then again, its easy to manipulate that rule as well as someone might park bunch of his alt accounts months before contest even starts but at least it might prevent the most obvious voting abuse.
As I said before, let's end this contest officially and then we can start talking about these much needed changes because this system clearly doesn't work. I still don't get the point of having a BTCtalk Discord server when we already have the forum, and as you pointed out is very easy to manipulate the results on Discord. I understand this competition is supposed to be fun (and it is) but if we also want to keep a minimum of credibility then we should stick to the forum. I have some ideas about the rules, nothing complicated.
I have been aware of all drama going on with the pizza contest and to some extent, I am not surprise as rigging is actually now a fix act on most human habit but with that being said I still support for us to just patiently wait for Cyrus to upload the official result since their is actually nothing we can do about the voting system so instead of deliberating now, we should just all take a chill pill and just booze off as the main purpose of this competition was actually just to enjoy the spirit of the bitcoin first pizza purchase.
2100  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Naira exchange unification on: June 12, 2023, 07:33:51 PM
About if the news is fake or not, there are some news sites that are most likely not to have fake news, and I got it from one of them. And according to what I have noticed, I have seen some people reacting to it. Which definitely means it is not a fake news. You should not get me wrong, the rumor is that CBN did not devalue naira, but the news about naira exchange unification is true. So naira exchange unification news is not fake.

About some people that thinks this can help the economy, some analysts says it would have negative effect on Nigerian economy, saying only enough foreign exchange supply will make this likely. Also that exports, foreign reserves, importing and oil products needs to be addressed.

https://independent.ng/exchange-rates-unification-will-crash-nigerias-economy/

When I read this news, I think the analysts are very correct if true they make such conclusion.

I'm not claiming that the news of Niara exchange unification is false; it's true that Ps Tinubu has a plan for it, and he has said it publicly several times. My problem is Daily Newspaper claiming that the Naira has been devalued, despite the fact that the government has yet to implement it. The President invited the CBN governor last week to brief him on the Naira redesign and the E-naira initiative, so the Naira excahnge will be unified but not right away.

To be clear, the Naira exchange rate will not be unified under the present CBN governor; a new governor will be nominated soon.
Well if that one na actually the case then e good because the president has already stricken emefiele of all his right as the CBN governor so the unification as you said would be possible now since the CBN will definitely need a new governor to handle all its economical affairs. Nigeria has suffered a lot from the hands of this so called CBN governor and I just wish the country would do something tangible about his case instead of just probing him and then letting him go of all his charges as usual.
