2081  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon] How to automate restarting of Avalon/cgminer when it stops mining? on: March 24, 2013, 06:54:14 AM
Dude,

This is my way and it works 100%
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140539.msg1603942#msg1603942
However there is a chance with latest Avalon FW problem to be fixed - no restarts since upgrade 1 day and 10 hours.
But we can now for sure if when up time reaches at least a week

Guy's
I am trading for a while at bitcoin.de. i haven got any deals recentley. Yesterday i have tried to sell 10 BTC and a message told me something like i am able to sell 9.99 because of blabla i did not write it down.
can someone point me where to read about it and what i need to to to be able to sell more than 10 BTC at once like i did it always

Why dont you just easy  read the error message at bitcoin.de again?? The error message should tell you whats up!!!!

Simple and stupid i do not have 10+ coins to trade for the moment:)

Anyway i will found out
10X
PS: The support respond me these guy's rock
On your registration you get 0.01 btc. On your first sale they reserve 0.01 btc to avoid people registering just to get 0.01. That was it. I am wondering who is going spent such amount of time to authorize different bank accounts just to "steal" 0.01 btc. But people are different unfortunately

All units seem to work fine so far. But I've run across something strange. This morning when I checked their status temperatures were fine, they were keeping at a steady 48-50 degrees, but they shown a max temperature of 102-107 degrees C. How in the hell could they have reached such a temperature? Is it some kind of misreporting or did the fans stop working for a moment? Won't such a temperature fry some chips?
FW bug dude. Upgrade to latest Avalon FW
2085  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 23, 2013, 11:31:14 AM
after 22h the worker did not submit work to the pool anymore
in the logs the only thing i can see is
the unit worked , the Avalon tab the satuts was alive but the  mhs5s tab   was 0

Mar 23 03:45:01 OpenWrt cron.info crond[566]: crond: USER root pid 5901 cmd /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor
Mar 23 03:50:01 OpenWrt cron.info crond[566]: crond: USER root pid 5910 cmd /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor

can you post dmesg + logread output next time it happens?

2089  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #1) on: March 22, 2013, 05:19:44 PM
I'm thinking to move everything outside of the box, just like an open GPU mining rig, and use an external blow fan to effectively cool all those huge heat sinks when summer arrived
Do not do that. You need a air pressure + flow inside the box in order to cool down the ASICS

2090  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 22, 2013, 01:51:33 PM
Guy's

Here are my impressions so far:

As you can see HW error spikes caused restarts (no shares accepted for last 3 minutes). However the last restart (Friday two hours ago watch HW error rate graph breakage) was not due to HW error spikes.

I hope i will have my wr703 spare received soon. I will upgrade RAM + FLASH and build custom 8M image with latest avalon cgminer.

I will continue to post the results but for now i can say that reboots are happening at 24 hours intervals at average with hw error rate about 2.4% which makes me extremely happy with steady 70000+ Mhs speed when mining and up time 99.99+% Wink
PS i am not running latest FW - no time to go home for upgrade and as long as it working good i am not touching it for the moment:)
And I am using power off on for restart automation of course. None of the graphed restarts were caused for other reason except power off/on

As you can see all restarts happened when there were spikes in FANS RPM up/down. Which makes me wonder if controller went crazy Huh

Ngzhang,
Does the Avalon controller have Firmware itself?
If yes are you going to publish it somewhere if we need to upgrade it in the feature?

10X!

This is the worst day i I have seen mining here. luck is just ridiculous. New new blocks  and all is confirmed (120+blocks past)

 Cry

But carpo446 is back! Let us hope the luck will come with him again!

2092  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #1) on: March 22, 2013, 11:48:36 AM

At 35 Out temp will be about 65-70 or something which will shorten PSU live.

this is true.  I believe its wise to power them with the best quality PSU we can find.

Or to move psu outside Smiley

Ugly but i will see if the psu cable length will allow it. And to mount some aluminum on the big hole left when psu is not there so that we can keep the air pressure in the box

Дорогой товарищ Vicus,

We are discussing technology here not a profit right?

No matter what you do and how big your profit is you shall know how changes you make to your environment affect unit itself. And you have to think in a first place about it.
And do not worry to much about me i will take care of my units putting there my knowledge and efforts. So they will  feel good which will make me feel good also

Think about yours when they come and how you will take care of them

The funny thing is that i am able to put mu units in -20 C environment but unfortunately they will blow. No jokes here.

And remember not all of us are here because of the profit alone there are other important things involved also!
Дорогой товарищ loshia,
Ты чо быкуешь? А если длинне, то:

ngzhang already said, that unit was tested under temp < 35C and was fine. Why are you searching problem, were it not exist?
What about my unit, I'll put it in data-center, with 20C constant temp, UPS+automated diesel generator...

Super! I am glad for you and wish you all the best. For the profit you are about to get it is a better idea to think about nuclear power reactor as backup - you have a lot of them in Russia, haven't you? ohh yea end they are cheap  Grin

Besides with diesel generator you have to check the petroleum level and there is a big chance that generator not to start up when you need it

What i was saying that in ambient 23 we are reaching almost 50 Celsius out and that Increasing fan speed does not make out temp to cool down.
At 35 Out temp will be about 65-70 or something which will shorten PSU live.

However i am not putting at any doubt in NG statements for sure. But better ambient will not heart anybody.

2094  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #1) on: March 22, 2013, 08:56:30 AM
As you can see when Fans operating at full speed it does not affect temp out at all or it affects it very little. I am worried what will happen when my room temp reach 35 Celsius Huh

Hopefully it will happen after a couple of months  Wink
With such profit, you can install room air-conditioner and keep consistent temp whole year.

Top unit 1: 1680/1800 fans, 17/47 temperature
Top unit 2: 2040/2040 fans, 16/44 temperature
Bottom unit 1: 1800/1320 fans,  14/38 temperature
Bottom unit 2: 1680/1560 fans, 15/41 temperature

Guys, give me some numbers to compare. Wink

P.S. Ooops, Bitsyncom has just clarified the question while I am typing this post.

Same results here dude. Temp is ok.

Dude,
Leave some space in between each two- preferable. I used some of the "rubber thing" from the package. Cut it to four small pieces and put in on top of the first one, then put second one on top. There must be some air between each other

this is incorrect, units are designed to stack directly on top of each other without additional things in between.
OK...
Excuse me. That was what i was thinking. But you know better BitSyncom Smiley

Best

2099  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 21, 2013, 09:27:46 AM
Dude,
BFL will not deliver anything in coming mounts. And the BFL customers can not cancel their orders.
Its pure speculation Smiley You and me don't know the exact situation Smiley
What about orders, why can't? I haven't read any messages, where anyone stated that he was rejected with refund?
I am not arguing with you...
Just follow my posts (start from last year ) if you want and you will see what i think about BFL and for how long i think so
The only reason they will not deliver nothing anytime soon is because they do not have their NG team member simple as that Smiley For that exact same reason BASIC failed also

2100  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 21, 2013, 09:15:14 AM
Honestly, I'm thinking that Avalon team is specially delayed shipment because of BFL. They gave BFL some time to start shipment in order to not give over-porfit for miners. Do you remember words of Yifu? He stated that he has joined ASIC dev to make another competitor in Bitcoin world and there will be no chance that one company will rule the ASIC (Bitcoin) world. But unexpected circumstances made from Avalon that monster... And I think that role is not what Yifu want. In order to give BFL another chance Avalon team is deciding to raise a price. Not a secret, that BFL could lose many customers if Avalon open batch #3 at the same price. People will just cancel they orders at BFL and make an order at Avalon. To make this decision much harder, price was raised, and another delay was presented...
Dude,
BFL will not deliver anything in coming mounts. And the BFL customers can not cancel their orders.
