21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Owner of 8K bitcoin lost in landfill threatens to bankrupt local council on: February 26, 2024, 09:47:31 AM
https://protos.com/owner-of-8k-bitcoin-lost-in-landfill-threatens-to-bankrupt-local-council/

I think him lashing out at the city council and threatening to sue them doesn't make bitcoin look good. wherever his hard drive is, if it's in that trash dump i don't see how even a data recovery expert could get anything off of it. it's probably been crushed, cracked, corroded, etc. lost cause. his big mistake was throwing it away in the first place but that was his fault no one elses. he lost those bitcoin a long time ago. and they're not coming back.  Shocked

I have a hard drive which is about 4 years old. It has stopped working and I even tried to follow internet tutorials and visited customer support offline channel also. But they all told me that it is impossible to recover the data now. And here, this guy is trying for 17 year old hard drive in a much more pathetic condition. I guess common sense is not so common anymore.
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: Capitalise on Bitcoin Bull Run on: February 21, 2024, 11:35:07 AM
The best time to accumulate more Bitcoin is in the bear market or when the market is going side ways. Bull market is the time when you actually see your Bitcoin price go up and feel satisfied. It is that time when diamond hands fell confident and continue to keep on holding untill the next time. There are others who enjoy taking profits and others who try to get back thier investments which might have got stuck  when they bought Bitcoin at it's ATH. We would see different things happening with different people but those who have trusted Bitcoin will keep trusting it whether it is a bull or bear market.

You are right to some extent. Best time is to accumulate in bear market but for a normal investor it is hard to find out how long will bear market continue and to what levels  will price keep dropping.

There can be other approaches to investing as well. Like investing some amount per month, irrespective of the price of the bitcoin. In the long run, this strategy has higher chances of giving more profit in comparison to the strategy of chasing bear and bull market.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel excited while gambling on: February 21, 2024, 11:32:36 AM
When I was new to gambling, I used to get excited easily. It was actually a problem for me at the moment as I was not able to focus on the game because of this reason.

But now I have got used to gambling. It is like a normal work for me. However, if I make some winning one day, I am not sure if I will still be able to control my excitement. It also depends on age. Younger gamblers are expected to get more excited while gambling. However mature and aged people like more me will not get easily excited.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Well Prepared For the Bull Market And So Far In Bitcoin Investment. on: February 19, 2024, 09:28:19 AM
My Bitcoin Investment
I thanks God I am back to continue the knowledge of bitcoin and it Blockchain, within this period which I was absent from the forum, I have learn more and I have also taught many people and some of them also invested in bitcoin some times I used some of the good quality posts for reference, I have not stopped my learning. And today I am a good investor. So far so good I have invested 0.05494075 BTC.
.

In January 1, 2023, I made my first purchased of bitcoin My First Bitcoin on the New Year Day 2023. and after that I purchased it massively when the price was low as $23+k as of of early (first 4 months) 2023 and after then I used DCA to accumulate every week and month and today I have a good number or amount of bitcoin for my level. And I am not competing with anyone but to my level. I have bitcoin now.  I was planning to have 1 bitcoin but at a time the school expenses were much so I have to stop and hodle the once I have acquired.

I think this is the time for me to excite my joy. I have invested some reasonable amount of bitcoin before the halving and the Bull Market. At first I was keeping my coins in the Exchange where I bought my coins but later when I discovered that it is not saved for me to keep them there, then I created an Electrum wallet which I have asked question on it last year , so I transferred all the coins to the newly created wallet and printed out the seed phrase and laminated it and keep it in a safe place and also photocopy two extra and store it in different locations. I will like to thanks those who taught me wallet from one way or the other in the forum. Such as LoyceMobile, NeuroticFish, Charles-Tim, joniboini, Rruchi man, SquirrelJulietGarden, Peanutswar.

And special greeting to The Cryptovator, The Sceptical Chymist, rby, Rikafip, SamReomo, GeorgeJohn, CryptoHeadlineNews, Dr.Bitcoin_Strange, Franctoshi, Sandra_hakeem, Eh Moo Nah, SmartGold01, Mpamaegbu, Adbitco. Thanks you all.

DiMarxist.

You purchased at $23k levels and your money is already doubled now. But I suggest you to wait more . If possible, forget about this investment for next 10 years. There will be lows also during this period but never get in any type of panic. Bitcoin still has a lot of potential in terms of upside. As more and more people become aware about bitcoin, the value will keep rising. Also, there are now bitcoin ETFs which have made bitcoin a rare asset already. You can in fact retire with this much holding of btc in next 10 years if you keep it untouched.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do cryptocurrency increase the standard of living on: February 19, 2024, 09:25:14 AM
Owning crypto will not increase your standard of living essentially. Like suppose, you own 10 bitcoins today and when the market falls next month, you get in panic and sell in loss. This will reduce your standard of living as your total assets will decrease and thus you have to modify standard of living accordingly. But if you are smart with your investments, owning crypto can open up lot of good opportunities for you. Currently there are  better opportunities in altcoin market and if you can spot good coins at earliy stage, you can make a lot of money.
26  Economy / Gambling discussion / Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ? on: January 06, 2024, 11:42:02 AM

27  Other / Meta / Re: Happy New Year 2024 to bitcointalk members on: January 06, 2024, 11:39:42 AM
Maybe we will see BTC cross $46000 very soon.

This will happen as soon as ETF is approved. We will see 60000 on same day probably.
28  Other / Meta / Re: What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ? on: January 06, 2024, 11:38:29 AM
- Progress in the new forum software development, or an allocation of funds toward getting new developers onto the job. News about how much funding is left, or any information that will help the community arrange progress.

- Approval and implementation of the Cybersecurity & Privacy board requests, so that internet privacy and cybersecurity can be openly discussed, ultimately to make everyone in the community safer from the growing amount of threats online.

I do not think that more than one developer is needed for forum upgrade. Just one good developer is sufficient for this. Most of the forum paid software allow assisted installation. Just to tweak the settings as per own requirement, one developer might be required. He can also be hired as a freelancer. In fact, there are so many good and talented guys supporting the forum that I would not be surprised if someone is ready to handle the forum upgrade for free as a goodwill.
29  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect on: January 03, 2024, 03:47:59 AM
Discussions around Bitcoin’s ETF approval have been intensified for a long time now and most likely, we will get positive news about it in early January any day now. Yaay.  Smiley
In case of a positive outcome, a Bitcoin ETF approval will possibly result in a much bigger spike than many people are expecting, in my opinion.
Right now, mostly Bitcoin holders or financial wallstreet experts are aware of what’s coming. Many regular investment people still don’t really know about / have heard much of an upcoming Bitcoin EFT but will know and read more about it, once news are out and advertising really starts.
BlackRock and Co. are really big players and advertising Bitcoin, a truly scarce asset, might result in an unbelievably big Bitcoin price spike (sorry for too much FOMO, I could not resist  Cheesy).

Compared to what might come, we are still in relatively calm waters.

Of course, a rejection could result in a very big dump due to insurmountable disappointment as well.
As always: no investement advice because trading is very risky.

Interesting and volatile days ahead!  Smiley

Even after all this, you need to stay calm and keep buying bitcoin regular as much as possible as per your capacity.

Like when crypto soars because of the news and you start getting influenced by it, you will sell with just some profit. But if you are remaining invested for say 10 years, you will see life changing returns. That is the beauty of bitcoin and crypto investment. The longer you wait, the bigger is the magic that happens.
30  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: January 03, 2024, 03:43:41 AM
Legally, they have got themselves covered and no one can do anything about it.

But morally, this is very long. It is like trapping people. Taking their funds without asking for KYC and later when they want to withdraw , you want to ask for KYC. This is like some form of legal robbery and something must be done about this. You did the right thing by outing the platform here.
31  Other / Meta / Happy New Year 2024 to bitcointalk members on: December 31, 2023, 04:19:52 AM
New year 2024 is now just few hours away. Wishing Happy New Year 2024 to bitcointalk members in advance.

I wish that the forum also grows multifold this year.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Know your facts: Fundamental differences between Bitcoin and Ethereum on: December 31, 2023, 04:16:11 AM
The benefits of BTC over Ethereum are reflected in returns these coins offer.
Returns are not reliable figures to determine which coin is better than the other. In the case of bitcoin where it has happened over several years and at a reliable rate, one can maybe use it as a yardstick, but do not use it for smaller coins which can boost by 300% or more within a few hours.

Utility is the real benefit of any asset and the security of that asset

- Jay -

When you are comparing the returns, look at the bigger picture like return per year over last 10 years and not sort based on last 24 hours returns. Because, there is manipulation by whales in small coins.

I do agree that utility of the coin is also very important but that is also directly related to returns. If a coin is really that useful, the returns will be good over a period of time. For useless coins, they may spike temporarily but over  a longer period of time, the value will come to almost zero.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: X-Cash on: December 31, 2023, 04:12:35 AM
This is a dead project and one of the things that annoys me most is that there would be people that really bought this project hoping to sell when the price goes up but looking at the nature of things now, this project had been dead for long and now w are entering 2024 which is going to make it almost a year plus this project had last posted. I don't trust many of the projects these days because a lots of things do happen making projects to end up in rug pull.

Those with decent jobs should not waste time with these new projects. Their strategy should be to invest in top 50 market cap coins only. You have to pick from those 50 based on which ones have got price corrected at right time. If possible, keep accumulating on all major drops. Like whenever I see market correcting by 10-20% in a week, I see an upward movement of same amount the following week. This is because other investors are also looking for same opportunities.
34  Other / Meta / Re: What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ? on: December 29, 2023, 06:52:34 AM
We already got a couple of changes in 2023, more than we had the last five years on the forum, so don't want to sound to greedy.
If the changes are helping to grow the forum ( which in most cases are) , it does not hamper to be greedy.

What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ?  Or do you like the forum exactly as it is ?
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: X-Cash on: December 29, 2023, 06:30:29 AM

This is the official Twitter of the coin

https://twitter.com/XCashCrypto

Their last Tweet was on October 19,2022.

Even they do not care to update the users about the latest development related to the coin. Just forget about this coin and move on.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Know your facts: Fundamental differences between Bitcoin and Ethereum on: December 29, 2023, 06:23:33 AM
The benefits of BTC over Ethereum are reflected in returns these coins offer.

It is very well explained in this article

https://blockworks.co/news/bitcoin-eclipse-ethereum-returns

As mentioned in this article, Ethereum was launched in 2015 and it has increased by 66,544%  from its initial price.

On the other hand, BTC was $0.00076392 in 2009. From there, it has increased to 4-billion percent.

Almost impossible for ETH to catch this growth ever.

39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest only in Bitcoin and never invest in shitcoin on: November 29, 2023, 05:39:51 AM
Bitcoin is the father of all crypto currency. The name is an eye opener to crypto, and has brought or attracted many people into crypto currency today. And has continued to stand firmly without fading.

Many turn into shitcoin investor. After knowing about Bitcoin. Unfortunately it didn't work out the way they thought.
I am a tipical example of that. when I heard about Bitcoin how it started from $0.01 to thousands of dollars I thought shitcoin also has that potential. I was working and was investing in valueless coins thinking dey will be like Bitcoin. but never did as Bitcoin. all gradually disappeared. And that made me regret no investing it on Bitcoin then.

Although some people were pretty lucky to make alot of dollars from shitcoin, but mine didn't work out in any ways, so I would like you guys to shear your ideas on this an the possible solution.

Those who have less risk appetite should stick with bitcoin. Because fluctuations in price of bitcoin is less as there are lot of individuals and companies truly believe in this.

But there are some people who have good risk appetite. They can get higher rewards as well by investing in alt coin. Here also, you have to select the alt coin after lot of research and go with coins with solid founders and a good use case.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance’s $4B settlement the green light for spot Bitcoin ETFs? on: November 27, 2023, 03:59:52 AM
One crypto executive predicted five months ago that spot Bitcoin ETFs would only be approved after Binance lost ground on its market dominance. Binance’s $4.3-billion settlement with the United States was the final hurdle before the country’s securities regulator approves spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), many industry watchers claim.

The settlement to Justice Department and Treasury compliance monitors for up to five years, allowing the agencies sweeping powers to keep the exchange in line with Anti-Money Laundering and sanctions rules, among other things.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has cited market manipulation when denying spot Bitcoin ETFs, and Binance’s market dominance had to take a hit before BlackRock’s spot BTC ETF application would be approved, according to a June X Twitter post by Travis Kling, chief investment officer of Ikigai Asset Management.

Binance is bigger than that. When crypto will explode, the transactions on binance will also explode which will mean that their revenue will also increase by a lot. They can even best top companies in terms of profitability and yearly revenue. 4 billion is not going to end them or make them look smaller. You should always think about long term scenario. I also feel that current CEO might come back on the board in the future when matter has cooled down.
