2101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good Morning from a Non-Bitcoiner on: October 04, 2020, 07:12:08 PM

~

Your friend gives you a good tip, he probably does not invest in bitcoin but surely know things about cryptocurrency. Gold is a good investment in a long-term investment but it might have some conflict in USD. True that gold and also it has an increasing demand the same as the supply is always limited at some point.

* Properties are not affordable * properties would be a good investment as it could easily give you a passive income that is worth investing.
* Banks are not reliable * I mean that kinda true but still reliable compared to other platforms in my country.
* Investing in Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency * For me the best investment that you could make.

You could send the photo to some of your crypto friends for a word of encouragement or just to give people good tips of where to invest.

2102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a new investment on: October 04, 2020, 06:13:44 PM
Bitcoin is one of the strong cryptocurrency and it is the most stable digital coin nowadays. Also, bitcoin is one of the promising investment in digital world. Since, peoples economy nowadays are unstable due to the pandimic situation in the world. Peoples are looking for new source of income to improve their economy. Do you think bitcoin is the best investment choice nowadays to earn money?

For me, bitcoin is still a pretty solid choice for investment even at this time of the pandemic, at the time when the pandemic starts bitcoin experience a big dump where you could probably invest since that is a good opportunity.

But at this moment the market value is around 10,000$ to 12,000$ so I don't think it is worth investing at the moment, but for long-term investment, bitcoin is always going to be worth it investing. But in some countries bitcoin was already adopted comparing it to some poor countries and I think at that point it is worth investing because you could use it in buying things or other things.

I Prefer some stock trading or trading some altcoins, In my experience, it is really profitable trading altcoins in an exchange and a lot of company was worth investing,

2103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone accidentally sent or received BTC to and from another address? on: October 04, 2020, 05:19:10 PM
I'm curious but has anyone here accidentally received btc or bch or any other coin from another address that you know was by accident?  Thus it was not direct and wasn't an airdrop or anything like that?

I had received a tiny bit of bitcoin cash to my nano ledger s... but it was tiny amount not even a penny worth... and someone who is very knowledgeable said it was a dusting attack which is almost harmless.

But is it almost impossible to send btc to the wrong address assuming you are off one letter or a bit off?  Or is odds going to show that address is incorrect?  Thus imagine the last letter or number you mean was f and typed e or it was 9 and typed e or 8... are the odds so low that... the address you wrote a letter off is incorrect?  Also all btc and those addresses are the exact number of characters right?

Now i heard a while back, if you send btc to a bch address or send bch to btc address, the coins are permanently lost.  Is that still true today?  I remember i heard back then in bittrex, if you do that, they could help you recover it but only if the amount you said was big like at least 5k usd.  Do they still assist now?

But if you were to send btc to bch address or vice versa... or to even bitcoin sv or bitcoin gold, what happens now?

I see a few reports here in the forum in the past where they received an amount in their own address or someone accidentally sent a bitcoin in their address, I remembered someone pm the op that he sent the bitcoin in the op bitcoin address.

Personally, I never ever received a bitcoin that is sent to my address but hopefully, soon I'm going to receive one  Grin I think it is really possible and mostly the mistake is because of a wrong copy-paste of a bitcoin address but the chances are really low.

A lot of wallets warned a user to only send bitcoin to a bitcoin address and BCH to a BCH address because it might be lost permanently, but in my experience, you could do some reports depending on the wallet you are using and might still recover it, there are also some cases where transactions are canceled.

Cuong Vi Truong version of the new Bitcoin logo

https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/1305184338661736450/7tgFuRLN_400x400.jpg

What do you think?
It's actually not that bad but comparing it to the logo of bitcoin. Bitcoin logo is still better, also no one would want to change the bitcoin logo or it would not affect anything at all.

I guess you could make some improvement if you're just doing it for fun  Wink

Source:

So who is this "Cuong Vi Truong" guy and what's the point of cutting the BTC in 2 unequal halves? It ended up looking like a bootleg version of the dollar sign $.

No results on google but I think that is the op name.

2105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Elon Musk fake giveaway. on: October 04, 2020, 03:20:39 PM

You're going to see hundreds of this post or scam on twitter and also even on Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram.

For me, Elon Musk in a giveaway is already common so it already gives scam vibes to many experienced traders and investors so mostly the post is just getting ignore even me.

But this scam never ends because a lot of people still fall in this kind of scam and already scam millions of bitcoin in the community i guess Elon musk really has a big impact because of his opinion about bitcoin and support in the cryptocurrency as the cash of the future. Having a giveaway would I think to make sense if it is done by Elon Musk maybe one time, but seeing a lot of it every time is not normal newbies should know it already.

Everybody Can make money most likely of money.

But what is the advice for newbies Here who come Here and try to start earning money?
If they Don't have Job Don't have any money to Invest in and Don't much of the skills what Can be used for good in cryptocurrency job occupation.

So what we Say?  Specially now in this covid situation?

Eaning in cryptocurrency could be a great profit for a lot of users or people in the community.

But still earning is not easy even in every way this is no easy money where you could earn a good amount of profit, which commonly what scams are promoting.

Remember that earning is going to take a lot of your effort so there is no way you could earn if you not into it or not doing anything, also earning is not the main thing here in the forum.

2107  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Fake Uniswap apps on Google Store on: October 02, 2020, 07:57:19 PM
Again, the blame should be on the shoulders of Google here. How come this malicious apps to continue to get un noticed and get published in their store. We have been calling them to improved their algorithm on how to catch this early so that no one can be a victim here. It's just sad that someone got phished and lost everything with a simply Uniswap. So another big lessons for everyone, specially that the Uniswap hype is here in crypto ecosystem. Make it a habit to check all angles first before downloading any on Google store.

I kinda agree, I think its obviously like Google condones these kinds of things in this platform since they allowed it easily without even filtering.

Also since Uniswap airdrop is a trend only a lot of phishing website emerge online trying to victimize some users that have a Uniswap or maybe get a Uniswap in the past airdrop.

Still great posting this kind of information in the forum that could surely help a lot of users to be careful in this kind of phishing apps in the playstore.

I want to invest my savings but I have no idea which is best place to invest some money. One of my friend suggest me to get a cryptocurrency. But my query is cryptocurrency safe?

Cryptocurrency is a good investment but I suggest having research before investing because investing in cryptocurrency or in bitcoin is a big risk and a lot of times investors could easily lose their money in crypto.

After your research or maybe a friend could help you to invest you could find a wallet to put your cryptocurrency or either find an exchange where you could trade your altcoins.

You could buy and sell cryptocurrency in an exchange and make a profit in it by buying low and selling it at a high price just like a stock market or a business.
2110  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of this new scam method. on: October 01, 2020, 06:25:27 PM
Good for you, I guess he just wants a commission for telling you that you have a Uniswap airdrop in your wallet. Grin  Grin

The Uniswap airdrop was really a big money so some people want a piece of the airdrop so I'm not surprise that people try a lot of method like this to get a commission. But 50/50? is a joke  Grin
2111  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Buy $1 ETH sa etherwallet on: October 01, 2020, 03:09:58 PM
Need lang pang gas para mailabas ang coin. sa coins.ph ko babayaran. Thanks

2112  Other / Meta / Re: Beginners Mistake on: September 30, 2020, 04:41:28 PM
I experienced something heart broken here as a newbie couple of weeks ago. Yes I understand the fact these platform/Forum have rules governing it but as humans we are prone to make mistakes and take correction. I wrote a topic here couple of weeks ago and someone I sopose to be a serious member of these forum reported my post for plagiarism, reasons being he/she highlights some line of my sentence and   claimed it’s copy and paste, that action cost me a lost. There are better ways to correct and guide a newbie or beginners without having to condemn their post, We aren’t robot we all humans and we rise by lifting others. Please our senior members and legends should look into these or probably initiate a means to educate newbies and beginners so we don’t fall victim always while trying to create our own post just like other members of the forum.

In the first place, you should know already the rules of the forum, ignorance is not an excuse.

Something like plagiarism could easily be identified if he underlined the lines that you plagiarise, and you could probably make a complaint if it is not plagiarised.

A lot of times newbies are not really newbies but just alt account here in the forum so plagiarism is just a big rule that the forum should be strict. If you really do plagiarise then it's your fault that you get banned in the forum.
2113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Read the rules and don't post plagiarised content. on: September 29, 2020, 03:14:00 PM
I also read the content of a member who is asking help for his /her account, well, in fact, he had admitted that he committed plagiarism, so basically, he/she doesn't even read first the rules of the forum because he/she has the courage to post that appeal. He made a mistake by committing a violation which resulted in the banning of the account.

Being a beginner is not an excuse to be free from violating the rules, we should obey or follow it because it will make our forum organized. We should also respect our moderators because they are just doing their job for our forum.

Just to help beginners, here are the good links to help them:
Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
Newbies - Read before posting

Plagiarism is also illegal in other websites and other platforms, so a newbie can't reason anything if they are committed plagiarism.

I guess the main thing here in newbies are just lazy to read the rules here in the forum but its also difficult to find where the rules if your just a newbie, but still a lot of members help newbies to know what is the rules of the forum and its no brainer to not read the rules first when stating in a forum so you can't really make an excuse to the moderators.

In my observation newbies are lazy to make their own post so they copy something in google and make it their own without putting links or any acknowledgment.
2114  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bangko Sental ng Pilipinas on Crypto adoption on: September 28, 2020, 02:38:07 PM

Quote
“On cryptocurrencies, we do not see it significantly affecting the present demand for physical currencies,” Diokno said. “Cryptocurrency for us has always been beyond the asset itself, but more on the blockchain technology that underpins it. Blockchain continues to elicit interest around revolutionizing the delivery of financial services by providing an efficient, secure, and robust means of payment.”

The Philippines is the latest country to announce central bank digital currency research. However several governments around the world have expressed interest in launching a central bank digital currency to reduce costs and optimize efficiency when it comes to banking and finance. At the moment, China appears to be the country with a large economy to launch a central bank digital currency.

2115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for Christmas on: September 27, 2020, 10:51:39 PM
We are already in "ber" months which it is a sign that we are fast approaching on Christmas day which is on December 25.
I have this on my mind that I'll start to prepare my present or gifts to some of my friends and family.

I want something related to Bitcoin like I will give a present that has related to Bitcoin, like some Angpao on Bitcoins? Paper wallets with Bitcoin inside? Or anything else.
So I am here asking for some opinion of yours, what's your suggestion for a present or gift for our loved ones for this upcoming Christmas?

I think using bitcoin got be the thing because of the pandemic, or could be the future way to give bonus or money.

At this time of pandemic its better to stay at home so at Christmas you could give money to use relatives using bitcoin so that their is no need for you actually go in their house and give them a physical money. At some point is great because you will have the opportunity have bonding to your relative but at this time of pandemic its better to stay home to be safe from the virus.

Fiat money is still a good choice as a gift in Christmas but i believe that bitcoin is going to be the future of currency.
In the news, I read about one woman who did not leave her home during the pandemic at all, she always ordered food to home. But nevertheless, she contracted the coronavirus. Everyone has a chance... As for bitcoin, the user should know what it is

Well, a famous celebrity in my country also gets coronavirus even though is always at home, and he suspected that he got the virus in deliveries because there are times because of excitement he didn't do sanitation.

But, still, it's not a valid reason to go outside and go somewhere that has a lot of people just because you going to get the virus anyway. If that's the logic there is reason to wear a mask or face shield at all.

2116  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Not your keys, not your Crypto – Kucoin Hacked! $150m Stolen. on: September 27, 2020, 09:45:55 PM
One good thing is people didn't lose their money

That remains to be seen. I really hope no one loses money. There have been plenty of "hacks" in the past where exchanges made promises initially, only to renege or disappear later on.
Kucoin CEO mentioned they have enough funds on their insurance funds to cover all these losses and they are prepared for this since 2018 but if the total hacked value is 150M then I really don't think they got enough money because Kucoin has decent amount of revenues every year but still they need 4-5 years of their total revenue to cover the loss of 150M.
^ Fotunately, something there is a hope for the kukcoin user and hold their fund. Sometimes I did not believed them, how the hell happen that their hot wallet is compromised by the hackers. There are few questions that has in my mind, how this hacker can compromise and breached the exchange account even though they don't have access on that exchange/. Lossing ~150M is a huge amount, but according to them the CEO of Kucoin is a small part.
We really don't leave our money on the market exchange, in end of the day we will always keep our money safe after trading or just leave amount that you can afford.
They cant just easily say that its a big amount for them because it will just create some panic to its users and might widthraw all the money they do had into this exchange and never look back and that's
a big problem for them since they do know that it can heavily affect their revenue.

Its just normal for them to take the same step on what Binance did in the past where they do cover up the loss and continue to the business. Exchange hack isn't something new on this market
this is why its never been ideal to leave big amounts of coins you do had on exchange.

We know the risk but there are still people whom do still neglect these very basic thing.

There was just so much news online that hack is still going in the Kucoin wallet that is surely creating panic to a lot of users on the website.

If you have a big amount of funds in Kucoin for sure you not going to take their word for having insurance and still trade on the website. A lot of users are probably gonna end up withdrawing their funds in the end, and it's going to be a big loss for Kucoin, the hack is bad news and according to some articles it is still not solved by their team.

Personally I would not risk any amount on the website if something like this would come up, would probably end up withdrawing my funds on the website too and just trade in other exchanges.
2117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is the price of BTC (and any other crypto) always higher in Asian countries? on: September 27, 2020, 08:52:19 PM
Its consistently higher that what the normal currency exchange rate would suggest in Asian countries.

For example if you multiply the USD rate of 1 BTC with the CNY rate, its 1 BTC = CNY 73,600, but exchanges there have it around CNY 75,500.

In other countries in Asia and South America also BTC is more expensive to buy in non-USD currencies than in USD.

Why is this the case?

I guess it is because compared to the USA bitcoin is not used in some Asian countries a lot making the price a bit higher than the countries that are already exposed to bitcoin technology.

And maybe because the government does not really support this kind of technology yet just my opinion here in my country, they do not really hate what it is just not really support this yet so companies that want to bring this technology to the country would tend to pay high tax one thing is because it is maybe a poor country. So the tax was just high that the company needed to put the market price of bitcoin higher when converting.

So that the company is going to make its profit and at the same time it would be controlled in the country's fiat currency value.

2119  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My newbie stress reliever on: September 27, 2020, 02:28:41 PM
It had been a very busy week with only few hours of sleep as a frontliner against this covid19 risking our life by saving others is a tough work. But I never did complain and instead continue to move on as life goes on.

As usual, I am trying to get the stress out by learning other things. What I mean is that learning about cryptocurrency. I was amaze the first time I had brought the ETH and send it to another wallet. At first I made a small attempt just to try the system and if it fails then it will be a small amount to be wasted. But, it was successful and I continue to manage for another successful transfer. I just notice something the transfer fees cost almost 4 USD was it normal transaction fee?

I consider the success as stress reliever. This is why I had been sharing this for I wanna know how other newbie feel as well at the first crypto transaction. Next stop is bitcoin but still it is difficult to understand how it works. ETH network seem better to understand than bitcoin blockchain network.

I might think as well to put savings in cryptocurrency and bitcoin would be better but not for now. Bitcoin is at higher price and too risky to get involved after seeing its graph which has been to almost flat 3k usd.

What can you say about the plan?

I think experiencing and using cryptocurrency, bitcoin, ethereum, etc. is really a unique experience for a lot of people, and it's really satisfying just looking at the technology or knowing that it is possible to make a transaction at this way. Maybe it's a great stress reliever for some people like you.

But personally, I think making an investment is not a good stress reliever at some point since you could lose your funds because cryptocurrency is just a risky investment. I guess you could still enjoy trading because earning a profit would really make you great but at the same time losing is not. Still, you need to make it as your investment, not just a stress reliever.

2120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Creating strong password. on: September 27, 2020, 12:27:26 PM
I think my post here could give you a good idea about strong or bad passwords.

Understanding how password works a lot of people know how important that strong password is important for your account security but mostly a lot of experts still suggest changing your password every month for safety measures.

I was worried about this issue back in the day because if you just think about it websites could just use your password and login into your accounts if you use the same password on the other websites. And I think I've done the mistake in my early days because we know that it's easy to remember your password when you only have 1 password or 2 passwords Grin.  As an IT I understand that passwords in a website are actually encrypted so even the programmers or the websites should not be able to see your password at least.

It's better to have a strong password or another layer of protection when it comes to your Gmail because every website is just connected to your email, having an access to your email account meaning having access to all of your accounts on different websites most of the time.

But it's a different story when it comes to phishing websites or scammed websites because their goal is to get your information so I don't think they have encryption or anything.

Also, the construction of your password is important:

after what i said maybe you don't trust the website anymore, putting some password Grin.
