2101  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I found my picture on here and want it removed from an ico on: December 14, 2020, 04:02:01 PM
Have they genuinely used your picture without permission or is it an ICO you no longer want to be affiliated with for whatever reason?
What kind of question you asking mate?, OP clearly said he's not affiliated with the ICO, so YES, they like genuinely used his picture and LinkedIn profile without he's permission, that ICO is clearly a scam one looking for persons to put on trouble.
It is possible that the OP sold his picture or that he was at one point was affiliated with the ICO. This would be difficult from the ICO group never having permission to use the OPs picture.

Probably, if Trump doesn't activate the Insurrection Act, nobody else will do anything in a big way.

The time is near where Trump will have to activate the Insurrection Act, or otherwise forget it.
I don’t think the insurrection act will do much for trump. The military was not on Trumps side during the summer when there was riots and a legitimate need to invoke the insurrection act, or at least the top of the military was not on his side. Trump trying to use the military to stay in power is not going to end well for the US, and would probably not turn out well for Trump either.

If a SPV wallet doesn't implement checkpoints, it would theoretically be fairly easy to trick the SPV wallet by building an alternative chain. Since that chain is the only chain the client will see, it is assumed to be the longest valid chain. With a checkpoint system, the attacker will have to build the chain after the checkpoint which is significantly more difficult but will not require anywhere near 50% of the network's hashpower.

You see, the reason why 51% attack works is because it can generate valid blocks faster than the rest of the network. You don't need anywhere near 51% of the hashpower if you have all the time in the world. I can probably generate a block with enough POW in a few days if I purchase enough hashpower. I don't need to worry about someone else generating the block before me because the client won't be able to see it.

51% attack is about receiving coins on a wrong chain, not sending. So even if you will be able to isolate SPV wallet owner on a wrong chain how it will help to attack him?
It could trick them into believing they received coins via an invalid transaction.
2104  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Privacy with sending BTC from differents addresses but same wallet on: December 14, 2020, 03:04:03 PM
. If I am going to create a significant amount of change, then I'll usually just redirect it straight to ChipMixer rather than a change address I own.
Always sending change to a particular mixer can be a breadcrumb for a prying eye to see. I presume that it is fairly uncommon to send change to CM as part of a financial transaction.

As an individual, I think it would be best to use varying methods to protecting your privacy, even if one method somewhat reduces your privacy.
2105  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How will Trump leave the White House? on: December 13, 2020, 09:06:07 PM
I have heard rumors that Trump will leave Washington DC on the plane that is Air Force One when it is holding the president, and will hold a rally that will compete with the inauguration. If this happens, it pretty much means he is kicking off his 2024 run before Biden even is able to get moved into the White House.
2106  Other / Politics & Society / Re: An american Civil War is invitable here is why on: December 13, 2020, 09:02:29 PM
I would not be surprised to see the US split into two countries in the near future. The US has become too polarized. I think this would be true even if Trump had won, with Blue states threatening to leave the union. There was even discussion of this in the Biden camp prior to the election while strategizing what to do if the election was close in Trumps favor.

This is what you get after 8 years of Obama being as polarizing as he was, and Democrats claiming for years that Trump was not a legitimate president

it cant split, because if it would then the democrats would scam fool the republican red states in order to survive, the would exploit their mexicans and africans and asians, and then try to get rid of them sending them into the welfare system of the reds states.
I am not sure about all that.

The Blue states are run so poorly that any potential split would be temporary. The politicians are different from their voters and I don’t think they would stand for that much exploitation.

2108  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hunter Biden says he's under Federal Tax Investigation on: December 13, 2020, 05:50:16 PM
I don't think it would have made any difference considering the entire story barely picked up any media attention,
There was a poll of Biden voters in various swing states that said almost 10% of those voted for him would have changed their votes if they had known about the various Biden scandals that were covered up by the media. This is enough to change Biden barely winning to Trump winning the swing states in a landslide.
2109  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I found my picture on here and want it removed from an ico on: December 13, 2020, 05:44:48 PM
Thanks.

But I file a complaint with DMCA when it is hyperlinked to my Linkedin page?

Or do I send it to the email link you posted?
As noted in the above instructions, you should complain to whoever is hosting the image in question for images. If there is other copyrighted material that belongs to you that has been posted, you can send a DCMA takedown notice to the email address found in the above link.

If someone is claiming you are part of a project you have nothing to do with, I would suggest opening a scam accusation regarding the fraud.

2111  Other / Meta / Re: Hyperlink images as signatures, is this allowed? on: December 12, 2020, 05:09:53 AM

AFAICT, this person is engaging in legitimate discussion in the threads he is posting in. Assuming there is not evidence this person has a history of these kinds of infractions, I don't think a ban would be appropriate. I would not want to remove someone from our community for a first time offense of this person breaking a rule that he may not be aware of.

I have sent this person a PM notifying him about the rules regarding having ads in posts, and that if he wishes, he can have ads in his signature.

In any case, it would be appropriate for the mods to remove the advertisement from this person's posts.
2112  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Privacy with sending BTC from differents addresses but same wallet on: December 12, 2020, 04:35:57 AM
If I send all my BTC from wallet_2 to an exchange, using 2 independants transactions like this (feature in electrum wallet I can spend fund AND fees from only selected addresses) :
If you are sending coin from an exchange, I think it is important to note that the exchange will know both deposits are associated with you. The exchange may also share this information with others.

If you make two separate transactions, one from each address, then the answer is more complicated. If both transactions are to the same deposit address, and that address can easily be identified as belonging to an exchange, then that is a fairly strong indication that the same person controls both addresses
Why? Huh I don't follow that logic.

You could have easily told Person A to send funds directly to your exchange deposit address... and also told Person B to send funds directly to your exchange deposit address.
If an exchange deposit address has exactly two incoming transactions, you may have a valid point. If an exchange deposit address has many incoming transactions over time, your point becomes less valid.

If there is an exchange deposit address that receives transactions from many addresses, and those addresses received coin from many distinct entities based on blockchain analysis, it would probably be a reasonable conclusion that the exchange account holder is depositing coin from transactions he signs himself. If an exchange deposit address often receives coin directly from addresses known to belong to other entities per blockchain analysis, there would be a chance the two transactions the OP describes are from two different 3rd parties.

Even if using a VPN, or even TOR to broadcast a transaction, using the same wallet software for both transactions may leave some breadcrumbs to someone looking closely, such as the transaction fee, transaction fee rate, and various flags within the transaction. Sending entire inputs less transaction fees (in other words, having no change) to the same address may also indicate that both transactions are from the same person.

IMO this is something that needs to be done via automation. Most spammers are using automation to make spam posts and the mods nuke *many* newbies. If you use automation, you can report posts automatically, and in the report note specifically state that the account should be reviewed to get nuked and that you are using a script to make the report.

Wow this is very helpful.
As a FYI, there is always the patrol.
2114  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hunter Biden says he's under Federal Tax Investigation on: December 11, 2020, 06:39:43 AM

I'm not a legal expert, though I'm pretty sure that this case was probably open prior to the election.
There were reports that Hunter Biden's laptop was seized by law enforcement via a subpoena prior to the election. This is a clear cut sign that there was an open investigation.

I have also read recent reports that Bill Barr was aware of an open investigation into Hunter Biden since April of this year, but worked to keep the existence of the investigation from leaking to the public. This would have been well before Biden had secured the nomination for President.
2115  Other / Meta / Re: [Newbie scrutiny instead of jail] Every new user's first post: loyce.club/patrol on: December 11, 2020, 06:33:52 AM
There are many new users whose posts are removed due to spam (among other reasons). It would probably not be uncommon for one spambot to create thousands of accounts that eventually get banned in a short period of time.

Unless your page will update when a user is nuked or a post is removed, it will result in a lot of duplication of work for anyone using your site to find spammers. Someone could find hundreds of spammers on your page that have already been nuked.

Results are certified, as the safe harbor deadline is today -- or was yesterday -- and that's the end of the road. Not really sure what else is being planned for this marketing stunt, but it's really done now.
The results will become more final once the electoral college meets on the 14th. Certifying the results is something that can be reversed by the courts.

I would not expect the SC to take up any case that is not already pending as of when the electoral college meets.

Unless something really crazy happens, the results will be final in 4 days.
2117  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Wallets Addresses per private key on: December 08, 2020, 06:22:03 AM

It will also be more expensive in terms of total transaction fees he pays because he is paying transaction fees to send bitcoin to himself.
I would disagree with that. The bitcoin he receives is going to have to be moved somewhere eventually, whether that is to an exchange to sell for fiat, to a merchant to buy goods or services, or somewhere else. If he doesn't consolidate all his received payments, then he must make an individual transaction for each one which will be much more expensive. His other option would be to consolidate his payments directly when he moves coins to an exchange/merchant/etc., but then will be paying whatever the current fee rate is for the large consolidation payment, when he could instead pay 1 sat/vbyte to consolidate his payments when the mempool is empty.
I was not suggesting that the OP not spend for example 3 inputs in one transaction if he optimally needs to spend those three inputs to pay for what he needs to pay for. The OP needs to pay for block space for each input in any transaction he wants to be confirmed.

If the OP has 10 unspent outputs and consolidates the outputs, he will need to pay for 10 inputs to consolidate the outputs, plus one for when he spends the consolidated output. If the OP does not consolidate his outputs, he will only need to pay for 10 inputs.

You do make a fair point that consolidating outputs with a very low fee may save on transaction fees. This may be true historically, however it is always possible that market transaction fee rates will never be as high as they are when the OP consolidates his outputs.

Address reuse leads to a reduction in privacy for everyone,

If OP is planning to post his address on a website, he obviously doesn't care that the address is being associated with his website.
Just as you have your address posted on your profile.
Address reuse leads to a reduction of privacy for everyone. Not just the sender and receiver.

Posting an address on a website that remains static means everyone will be able to trivially gain insight into the finances of the OP. Posting an address that changes means that everyone can closely watch the OP's website to gain insight into his finances, but the casual observer will be unable gain substantial insight to how much the OP is receiving, and an observer would be unable to know how much the OP received before they start watching his website.
2119  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How will Trump leave the White House? on: December 06, 2020, 11:18:24 PM

I recently heard a decent argument that pardoning himself may actually increase the chances of charges being filed.  The pardon would need to be litigated before any trial and could motivate prosecutors to file charges to hopefully prevent the precedent of a self pardon being valid.  Of course it could be found valid, but it seems like there's a reasonable chance that it won't be.
I don't see any reason why pardoning himself would not be valid. The constitution is clear that the President has the power to grant "Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States" except in impeachment cases.

If the SC is expanded, the text of the constitution will not matter, and the SC would invalidate any pardon Trump gives himself.

At the end of their terms, both Clinton and Obama gave thousands of pardons that were both politically/personally motivated and controversial.

Is btc guild a site? Can you log in to it?
btcguild was a pool that shut down about 5 years ago. If the OP had a balance on his pool account, he can try contacting the operator of btc guild, but I would not bet on being able to recover any balance considering it has been over 5 years since the pool shutdown.
