WTF stop that drama!

Complaining is silly. Either act or forget.

+1  (but don't trust me, today I was informed I am mentally retarded)
Dude,

We have to respect everybody and their own decisions and thoughts. Avalon deserves our respect and we deserve theirs also. From now own (and always) they are free to chose how they are going to move forward with their pricing and product development and we are the ones to choose if we are buying or not. Simple as that. Time will tell who made right decisions only. Complaining, trolling is just useless. Some of us are here because of the technology, some for profit some for both.

As NG said all is about the trust and it can not be measured with money. I completely agree on that 100%.  But unfortunately we live in a world where money matters. And when the bill needs to be paid we do think about that. I am not complaining about the price at all i have my own decision but i can understand the folks that think about it and measure their investment money wise. For instance in my country for the avalon price batch 3 you need to work 5-6 days a week 10-12 hours a day for year to be able to earn 5-6 grand or to buy 88 BTC at the moment. And that means a lot of work for sure.
2102  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 21, 2013, 08:02:35 AM
Got tracking from DHL (I asked via e-mail if there's something for me), order number close to 400 is in DHL premesis in HG. In couple of days it should be in Estonia, hope to get it from customs before weekend.

Can't hide the exitement Smiley

Well... my avalon is still in HG, little checking revealed that sending papers have been prepared but unit has not been given to DHL yet... Sad
Wait a day Smiley
same happend to me it took 24 ours for DHL tracking to start moving

My only questions are:

If I order an Avalon in Batch 3... I will eventually at some point in time get a unit?
Sure you will get it.
2105  Other / Off-topic / Re: Avalon unit does not power up. on: March 21, 2013, 06:14:13 AM
Awesome to hear you got it working! Care to post any pics or videos of the device?  It would greatly contribute to decreasing the amount of FUD in the air over the mere existence of Avalons
Dude are you joking?
This is real  Wink

2107  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon unit keeps restarting any help ? on: March 20, 2013, 10:33:36 PM
Have you first tried to disable that cgminer-monitor script or increase the check interval and see what will happen?

I also had at least one restart per day, I reduced the check frequency from 5 to 15, and it is stable since then

What about your HW error rate you are having?

I will post some interesting rrd graphs tomorrow. It might turn out that a unit can recover alone but it needs a time. The question still remains why is this happening at all. Anyway you will see the graphs tomorrow. It is too late now

I think GBT can cause the restarts also (out of memory). My unit had only 3M free ram with all stuff running and stratum. I know that GBT uses a lot more of ram in general.

Stop with all of this bs please...
Thank you @ the Avalon team for the magic you have done. You deserve what your future earnings.
As NG stated many times all off topic (in fact it is on topic) is welcomed what is your problem after all?
2109  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 20, 2013, 09:36:33 PM

Dude,
I ordered mine at noon i remember it clearly. A friend of mine ordered about 12 PM so please excuse me it was not available for a whole day but at least for 12+ hours. I am talking for the reopening of second batch 1 week later after the initial fiasco probably you missed this out ?

You understand that on a high traffic website, there are lots of factors, right ? Since you and your friend could order, does not mean everyone could.
Any way dude i am not arguing with you and i do not want to...Let someone else to tell the story from his point of view if it does have any matter. What i remember is that units were selling out very slowly compared to batch 1 and btach 2 first wave
take care dude Smiley
2110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 20, 2013, 09:28:38 PM
Batch 2 second wave was available for whole day i repeat one day to be ordered

Quite incorrect - and a quick look over relevant forum boards illustrates it clearly.

In my case specifically, the link in newsletter lead to "out of stock" on the morning already, and I only found out afternoon that sale was re-opened and gone again.

So call it as it is - a firesale that only those who frequent these boards managed to get it, far from all people who were actually interested in buying Batch 2.

this January, considerable people think we take Jeff down or just spent 400K to make a prototype, you don't buy.

now, everything on track, machines delivered to your hands are only a matter of time. you want to buy them at a same price or something like 2000USD.

You of course can set whichever price you want, as it a simple question of supply and demand.

That said, please at least keep the fact straight:
1) batch #2 ran out before most of people could order, and thanks to problems in the process, many of us could not get in.
2) as you not willing to lower the declared value, only the VAT will kill the deal for most of us. In my case it's more than costs of previous batches.
3) as there is no delivery guarantee, we basically don't have any indication of ROI.

All of this makes this preposition actually more riskier for us then Batch 1 and 2 buyers.

Batch 2 second wave was available for whole day i repeat one day to be ordered
2112  Other / Off-topic / Re: Avalon unit does not power up. on: March 20, 2013, 09:12:08 PM
man if the psu works
first connect the usb from the bord directly to the wrt board
if it starts that is ok  if not disconnect the connectors from the avalon modules
and start the process , also it can be a short in one fan you should check this also
QUOTE
There is no sound or light inside when I switch it on, the fan does not start with a well-known 'turbo' sound, just dead silence.
Do you still think that psu works or there might be a shortcut somewhere inside or PDu board might be dead

2113  Other / Off-topic / Re: Avalon unit does not power up. on: March 20, 2013, 09:01:52 PM
try to connect the usb directly to the board to see if it starts
if it works change the usb hub

Dude,
Fans are not powered up? just think about it first please. Do not copy paste here. Probably usb cable is loose and fans are not working Huh

2114  Other / Off-topic / Re: Avalon unit does not power up. on: March 20, 2013, 08:52:55 PM
I need help troubleshooting newly arrived Avalon unit that does not power up. Since Avalon support have not answered to my e-mail, there is no link to ticket system in Avalon web store and I closely missed Nzhang on #avalon, I thought I may as well appeal to the crowd wisdom of Bitcointalk.

The unit has arrived yesterday and there was a metallic noise inside while I was unboxing it. So, I carefully opened the box before powering the box and as expected, there was one loose nut inside it. After I removed the nut, I tried to power up the unit, but no luck. There is no sound or light inside when I switch it on, the fan does not start with a well-known 'turbo' sound, just dead silence.

I searched wiki and users thread, but could not find steps for troubleshooting this situation anywhere... Any ideas/help troubleshooting this issue?
I will start with power supply
1. remove 24 Pin cable and all other cables from PDu
2. Shortcut green to the ground
http://www.ehow.com/how_4928308_make-power-supply-work-motherboard.html
check if power off on button fires up psu  fan shall start to rotate

If psu is good plug back all power cables and remove power of all ASIC boards
then power them one buy one while checking again and again when psu will stop
Do just one move at a time and check

2115  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 20, 2013, 03:26:53 PM
We don't know that yet, but I agree, an almost 400% price hike is ridiculous. I don't think many people would venture for such an expense, especially after tens of terahashes were added to the network and tens more will be added by the time they get their units.

The units are being sold into a market at which demand vastly outstrips supply.

If sold at auction, the price would be even higher.

jgarzik,

I am and i will be avalon fan mostly because of NG - his skills and work. But i do not agree with your words about auction. If batch 3 consists of 3 units only then sure the price may reach heaven. but for 300-500? Who knows. Anyway it is a free market and we the customers will decide if we buy or not. For sure demand vastly outstrips supply no doubt about that. From what i can see here most of the guy's can take 2000-2500 including me. But 5000?
I am out for batch 3. Good luck to everyone else Smiley
And i love my new toy !!!

2116  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking for an FPGA with cache for BTC and Litecoin Mining - any ideas? on: March 20, 2013, 12:12:06 PM
I was wandering is it possible for a miner software + bitstream to use external RAM resource? Something like PC RAM. We can put a much as we want.
Spartan-6 memory controller blocks are designed to control single memory chips, not multi-chip memory modules. There are 4 memory controller blocks in each Spartan-6, but depending on the package not all are connected to pins.

While it isn't impossible to build a memory-module controller from the regular Spartan-6 logic blocks, such controller will be inefficient and slow. In the Xilinx product line only Virtex FPGA can directly interface with multi-chip memory modules.

BTW, bitfury is very busy with his 55nm Bitcoin ASIC project:

Buy the way i am watching bitfury closely long time ago:)

Having it as commission bit stream is ok for me. There are a lot of Spartans out there and if this is possible at all, whoever makes it will be rewarded for sure
Any comments?

Just a suggestion for all Avalon users
Guy's,
wr703N (at least mine) has not enough memory to work work with GBT. Make sure that you are mining with stratum. Be prepared for hard restart power off/on of your unit at least once a day Wink . There is something wrong with FW or controller or god knows what and occasionally HW error rate increases and no new shares are accepted. I have not played with soft way to recover, but powering off/on always works. I am sure Avalon team will fix it in the near feature.

2119  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC Store - BitSyncom on: March 19, 2013, 07:47:28 PM
Still waiting for a confirmation and some sort of acknowledgement from Asic Avalon after a entire month.
I'm really convinced this has the potential to be one big scam. Have people actually received units, do we trust users that do report this?
Why are they so hard at work on batch 3 when there's still many people who ordered who never received their batch 2 units?
Why are they switching payment processors each time?
BitSyncom I've been more than patient considering the huge fuckup at ordering, now I'm asking for a direct public reply.
What is going on with my order?

Relax mog,
It is not a scam. You will find out that fact your self soon:)

I know that waiting game is not an easy one but happy end is aproaching. I think no one has recived a batch2 unit. Probaly first batch 2 units will starat to show up after 10 days or so

Guy's

I have posted this before and i am posting it again.

Today i found a block and and cgminer api stats Found Blocks equals to 0. It happened two or three times since my last post about it.

something happened from 2.10.5 onwards

PS:

To all of you who use cgminer - Do you see Found Blocks >0 when you know you have found a block with versions 2.10.5 onward

Thanks!

It's the same counter used to display when you get the exit summary as is used to display it in the API.
Of course, if you zero the stats - that gets zeroed also.

Kano,
I have not zeroed the stats. I will check it out on exit when i do upgrade cgminer. I am sure that there is something wrong. Anyway, I will let you know what info i get on exit
