2101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do You trust Tether (USDT) Stablecoin? on: February 14, 2023, 09:36:14 AM
I still trust USDT but I don’t hold it, I still prefer to hold Bitcoin and only use stablecoins for my trading activities, also don’t hold on any exchanges because it not safe.
Thats better I guess. Usdt are good for trading purposes due to the volume on exchanges but once you are the onr using it always trade it for fiat via p2p or choose a major coin like btc and eth to hold your asset. We dont know when usdt could gone wrong or become same like what happened to ust. Since some events in the past shows the history of usdt that has some frozen asset which clearly says that decentralized couldnt use on their tokens.

Imagine they could freese asset of whoever they wanted too.

I guess that this only applies if there is a problem with the exchange, and they only hold/freeze the account if there is an anomaly on it against the AML.

USDT is safe as long as there is no de-pegging that will happen and hoping it will not since a lot of holders/traders will get affected by it.

Freezing the amount of USDT you have is the only threat to it unlike what BUSD threat have.

Now that we know USDT and USDC are untouchable by SEC for they are issued by US companies, I guess there is more to trust these stablecoin than any stablecoin issued by anyone. Therefore, USDT is safer at least that's what it appears to be.
2102  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Why America Should Ban Crypto on: February 14, 2023, 08:02:42 AM
As a reason for the ban, the official cited the example of the FTX exchange collapse, adding that this is only one huge part of the overall problem. According to Brown, cryptocurrencies are dangerous and pose a threat to national security.
The US public debt is a global financial security issue. It has long been clear that no one will return 31 trillion to anyone, and the interest on the debt is growing every year. And when this bomb will explode, no one knows, but it will definitely explode.

Maybe we can estimate.

Assuming democrats put an unlimited debt ceiling and the debt continue to increase without limits (that is, the US won't suddenly decide do default early), interest rates will eventually become larger than most of the GDP.

According to this, 2022 interest payments were somewhere around $400 billion. So if we assume it goes up by 10% each year (and it's compound interest), then we have $1 trillion in 10 years, $2.6T in 20 and almost $7T in 30, and we're looking at $18T and $47T in 40 and 50 years from now respectively.

So yeah. It sure doesn't look like the US economy will be the world leader in 50 years time.

The debts of US is USD which they could just print $31T if they want to and give it to whoever they owe. Its the easypeasy way, it will however worse the inflation.

What the tinfoil hat guys are saying was that banning crypto will be the way to introduce the CBDC to the public. They were never wrong with their forecasts though which if its true then Americans will be using their CBDC and they'll be happy with the stimi along with it.

2103  Economy / Speculation / Re: why Bitcoin Dumping ? on: February 13, 2023, 07:32:18 PM
It's up to you to do it. If it's really dumping and you saw it a week ago, it would have been better if you did it last week before this dump.
You are assuming it is too low thinking that we are still early in the bear market. We are already in the last stage of a bear market, it's safe to think we are about to go up.  Think again because you might need to more USD to buy back the BTC you will sell today.
2104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 13, 2023, 03:52:10 PM

Tatum now becomes one of the elite who knows defense well even when 2 or 3 are teaming against him. And he is shooting often already. Not giving all the credit to him but there's DWhite and all the rest even those with injuries.

If there were few turnovers, the score gap would be much wider. Hoping to see him do well against Bucks too. I'd be keeping my bet on them  Grin
2105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BUSD labeled as unregistered security by SEC on: February 13, 2023, 02:32:43 PM

You need to know if Securities and Exchange Comission (SEC) and New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) are have different way to regulating crypto. NYDFS was accepting BUSD because the reserve of assets that backed BUSD is following the NYDFS rule. SEC might be strict especially the US treasury bills used to backed BUSD is quite small for 21% while USDT have backed by 71% of US treasury bills [1].

Last year, the regulator published guidance to stablecoin issuers, stating that US dollar-backed stablecoins must be fully backed by a reserve of assets. Reserves should only consist of US Treasury bills, reverse repurchase agreements collateralized by Treasury bills or notes, government money-market funds or deposit accounts at US state or federally chartered institutions.

According to Paxos’ latest reserve report, BUSD is backed by $636 million (4%) in cash, $12 billion in Treasury-collateralized reverse repurchase agreements (75%) and $3.3 billion in US Treasury bills (21%).

[1] https://tether.to/en/transparency/#reports

It's a sure thing CZ understands this has to be backed by US Dollar. He knows very well that USDT was also questioned if it's fully backed by reserves. To which Paxos can back the claim.

Also, SEC can only consider a token a security if investors expect to profit from it but this is a stablecoin.  This is something they can't argue but this is to question Paxos not binance.

2106  Economy / Exchanges / Re: JARVIS Exchange. Exchange Money on Turkey, China, Russia. on: February 13, 2023, 02:22:24 PM
Are you in any way related to Jarvis Network[1]? I'm more familiar with Jarvis Network and I've never heard of a new service from them since they offer an instant swap already. If you are not related, I think you might consider changing your name so that it doesn't sound like a cheap copy/phishing site of Jarvis Network exchange. Honestly, I thought you are scammers pretending to be Jarvis Network when I see your link. Now, you seem sketchy at best.

Also, I can confirm that I don't see any language updates. Most of the content is still in Russian. I don't know what you have changed if there is any change at all.

[1] https://twitter.com/jarvis_network

They are not the same. Jarvis Network is the DEFI project with JRT tokens.

This Jarvis exchange seems purely for Russia. I was wondering if there is a digital RUB that we can send out to our wallet actually. That would be nice.
If this will have no KYC, it will be a good option after LocalBitcoins shutdown which was popular among Russians before the KYC implementation.
2107  Local / India / Re: 7 years Jail if you do not deposite TDS on time! on: February 13, 2023, 01:23:55 PM

It's a clear regulation, I don't see any wrong with it unless you miss paying then it becomes a problem. The current law is better though since you can just pay a fine if you miss it, this time it's jail time. A day in prison is already a pain but 3 months is going to scare the hell out of you that you will really pay on time.

So why was it changed?  They won't tolerate anymore?
2108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What most gamblers do. on: February 12, 2023, 02:51:05 PM
They are not called gamblers if they don't risk. They risk everything including the future  Grin No offense to gamblers  Grin I think there are exceptions to this.

Not to generalize. Not all gamblers have no savings. Maybe some of the Nigerian gamblers have some savings, you just didn't met them yet. Some of them in crypto have savings after all the gamblers in crypto are also investors who kept some stash not just BTC but some other altcoins.
2109  Economy / Economics / Re: Can one achieve financial independence through crypto currency? on: February 12, 2023, 02:23:40 PM
I think the financial freedom that they meant is that no one can take your BTC/money from you unless you get hacked and they got your private keys.

If the financial freedom that you mean is you are not independent anymore and you earn a living, that's not it. You still got to work to support your family and yourself. There are ways to get this financial freedom in crypto but you got to invest big for staking coins, revenue-sharing casino tokens, or DEFI.
2110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible ? on: February 12, 2023, 09:50:30 AM
Hello Bitcoinners,
This my first post I hope you all doing well, Let's come to the point  After seeing the revolution of cryptocurrencies I am actually thinking of accepting Bitcoin in my business and for escaping from the volatile  I wanna know that is there any platform where after depositing BitcoinBTC it can be automatically converted to on others currency (specially in stable coin).
Thank you all

You wanna start accepting BTC but then you wanted to turn it into stablecoin after, that seems pointless. Why not just accept stablecoin directly?

The volatility can be an advantage but also a disadvantage. It is more of an advantage if you can hold BTC for a long time which is what you wanna do for higher rewards. I think you are at the right time to accept BTC and the price will be going up. Its a double profit for your business.
2111  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitnity - a community-driven gambling platform on: February 12, 2023, 07:11:27 AM
Hey, I read bitinity because we have an user here in bitcointalk with that nickname- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=449846

Grin Grin I also thought that it is a thread about me. What a coincidence for the similar name, 1 character difference only.  Grin Grin Obviously I have nothing to do with this new platform.

Do you accept bitcoin on the platform? Or can only use BTNTY on the platform? Site looks pretty much simple.

Just created an account to check about the payment method, as I can see there are only BTNTY and ETH as the payment method as listed in the deposit and withdrawal page. So it is better if this thread is moved to Service Announcement (Altcoins) and they may come back to this gambling board once they accept bitcoin.

With a username like that, it's a guaranteed rep job for you at this casino.   Grin

The casino is a direct competitor of some revenue-sharing casinos like Betfury and seems like it's an early opportunity for some investors since BTNTY is just $0.005. They however are not listed anywhere but Uni.

This is the ANN thread so I wonder how large is the community though. Welcome to Bitcointalk!
2112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 12, 2023, 05:58:01 AM
Goodness! 5th round just made it. Volk loses but he is just another level. Definitely deserves another fight for this two.
Got to give Islam, all credit. 5 rounds and he barely stands. And a lot of thought a submission is almost 100%. Crazy fight.

I don't think Islam had proven himself against the no 1 P4P. He didn't dominate this fight.
2113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how many times have you intended to stop gambling on: February 11, 2023, 07:00:00 PM
Gambling has become an everyday thing for some people and this act has lead to serious addiction which is not good. When gambling we should understand that we are just playing for fun. Most people i know around always take gambling as a very serious issue and i have this particular friend that always complains to me how he has stopped gambling but from no where you still see him gambling again. Me myself am a sesonal gambler and i only gamble on the sport i know which is soccer, i think exploration of new gambling games you are familiar with also causes this repeated feeling of always quitting gambling. I just want to know if this phrase is common among everyone or its just he catch phrase whenever you experiences a big loss.
I am one of those people who want to stop gambling but in the end I failed. I may already be addicted to the fun that you get from gambling, especially if you already have the ambition to win at gambling and don't just think about fun. I was almost driven crazy by gambling until I sold the things I owned to play gambling so I thought gambling addiction was more dangerous than drinking liquor and methamphetamine and even I saw my friend who had sold his house certificate to play gambling and for the victory that he seeks in gambling.
I'm still lucky not to do that even though I can't stop gambling but at least the scale of my gambling can be reduced.
The defeat that we get and the ambition to win in gambling will change all the logic that we build at the beginning before gambling.
If a gambler realizes that he is becoming addicted, he must try to control it. The more time and money you spend in gambling, the more you lose and will try to recover. So keep it limited as much as you lose. Keep a certain amount of money in the budget and when it runs out, wait again until a certain time. If you can manage responsible gambling then you will not be addicted and if you are not addicted then managing gambling will not have any negative effects.

Unless they are winning then there is no stopping. Sometimes they just realize that they are already addicted when all are lost already and have sold some stuff only to gamble. Situations like these already happened in the past, many times.

Whether they win or lose some money, they can stop if they can control it the better of course. But its always losing money that will make a gambler realize he is addicted.
2114  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: In need of good trading teaching video link for beginner on: February 11, 2023, 06:46:21 PM

Try this binance academy from youtube https://www.youtube.com/@BinanceAcademy/videos

This should give you an idea as t hey put some guide on how to do it. They even explain how indicators work and how its used to anticipate where the price goes. And then there's how to execute trading from spot to futures trading so all in all its right there.

But basically you can find most tutorials in youtube.
2115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency industry challenges and impact on Bitcoin? on: February 11, 2023, 05:46:59 PM

Regulation is one. Even after a decade of existence and governments keep talking about it, there is no final paper of how governments will regulate crypto. There may be some governments that ban it but that's just it. Its not at all a regulation but simply they don't want anything to do with it while their people are interested and could be holding coins.

Every time SEC Gensler attempt to regulate just like staking ban, it affects crypto prices even BTC. Its a endless talk with nowhere to go. This is a challenge to the industry because most government outside US are just looking up to what US regulators would do.
2116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: February 11, 2023, 05:02:25 PM
Also read that Donaire might be facing Mexico's Alexandro Santiago for that WBC version of the bantamweight belt.

That's a better opponent for him I believe.

Alexandro Santiago has 3 losses and not a KO artist, so as long as he will not face a fighter like Inoue, this chance to win is higher. Though Alexandro Santiago is the younger fighter with 27 years of age, but the experience of Donaire is too much and this young boxer won't be able to handle it.

Also, the height is only 5′ 2½″ , that's the kind of target Donaire wants to KO.

Sounds fair for 40 year old KO artist to fight against a 27 yr old who has a poor record but doesn't make the fight exciting. This is not confirmed yet for there is no reason why they would give Santiago a title shot.

The fact that both of them either Donaire or Santiago will be in a cruel position after it. Any of them will face a more savage fighter when they become a champ.
2117  Other / Meta / Re: Good Initiative by Royse777! on: February 11, 2023, 03:14:08 PM
Bounty manager I think will all have to add this rule to their campaigners. Sounds fair for all because its gonna be cheating if they just use the AI. Its pretty common these days that AI does a lot of things including writing articles and codes. So its not surprising if someone uses AI in the campaigns.

With such AI based software becoming more popular the tools to detect such text will also come like the OpenAI has launched one such tool but still in the initial phase as reporting accuracy is less at the time
This is business lol. Create a problem and sell the solution to the business. If ChatGPT(example in general) wouldn't exist, no AI-generated text wouldn't have existed and we would never be needed that AI text detection tool. Anyway, I don't know how much capable the tool is to detect AI-generated text but I have checked with another tool (forgot the name) and it told me the text is genuine while I generated the text with ChatGPT lol.

Its been encouraged to help mods finding plagiarism but with AI, it makes it difficult for them to identify. Such tools should be useful, I think Theymos can install something like this on Simple machines if is available.
2118  Economy / Gambling / Re: STARTING OWN CRYPTO GAMBLING SITE on: February 11, 2023, 02:55:41 PM

So far there is no decentralized casino that is pretty much successful yet. There may be casino that has no license yet popular to users but they did a good marketing to the casino.

Bustabit is one of the oldest AFAIK. I'm not discouraging you to be creative but it needs more work after developing the casino. So you better be prepared to battle with your competition because one mistake could already bring the casino down.
2119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: G20 exploring cryptocurrency regulation on: February 11, 2023, 02:46:23 PM
G20 discussed about Bitcoin, crytocurrency, stable coins, years ago.

Their 2020 Meeting Press release

Quote
We reiterate our statement in October 2019 regarding the so-called 'global stablecoins' and other similar arrangements that such risks need to be evaluated and appropriately addressed before they commence operation, and support the FSB's efforts to develop regulatory recommendations with respect to these arrangements.

Sooner in 2019, they made a declaration on cryptocurrency too. G20 Meeting in Japan

I believe that governments, global finance ministers and central bank governors will discuss more about cryptocurrency because they will be accepted more globally so that they need to make more and better regulations.

Global stablecoin will make them disagree to each other when its just something the same as digital USD. They'd be divided since there is already a  collapse of trust to each other as its happening already when one central bank can print as much as of this stablecoin.

The CBDC are more acceptable for government and this is exactly what they are up to. More dystopian though but they have a way to regulate it.
2120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People will choose bitcoins more if the number of cryptocurrency option is less. on: February 10, 2023, 08:12:19 PM
There are investors who will prefer altcoins because of the promises the dev team had laid upon. Why some investors buy more tokens is because they are also enticed by the rewards. I don't think its confusion, there is just an opportunity.

They are aware there is BTC but when there is the hype about those altcoins and it's time for the bulls, they will allocate some of thier investment to altcoins. Come a time, they will still be back to buy BTC.
