So BTC is over 750 on most exchanges now - but XMR doesn't seem to care...

Now we have ousted Dash from Finex, too - it's looking rather rosy - maybe we will not have the December lows of old after all....

If BTC fails to stay over 750 this time, the hopes of any 2013-style run will fade fast and we look a tasty alternative with no scaling problems and no miner wars to stress over.

Gimme that GUI on top of BTC fizzling again and I think things are looking very sweet indeed.

XMR holding tight is surprising... in a good way, December is set to get interesting, we saw a 30% rise based on a bad exchange adding the coin. How far will it go when the GUI is released

Well we are currently up 10% since the news and up 900% since the first of the year

Put it like that and it's impossible to argue it's not been a good year already.

Those numbers are compared to btc which ofc went up as well, so.............

And yet this is just the DAWN

I was going to say 'the crack of Dawn', but let's not go there - she doesn't deserve it.

The waiting has paid certainly paid off - I remember doubling down at 0.001 just to cost average down (with gritted teeth) telling myself 'I know this is the right thing to do' and... it was.

Bally bad show old chap. The old girls just a bit tired.

We are still blighty and there will always be a corner of some foreign field that shall be forever England.

Cheers governor, Monero stiff upper lip and all that. You shall never take our freedoms gentlemens.

Guys, I might have to become a criminal soon, so may be forced to buy XMR.

Ooh, that sounds exciting!

Lost the Walmart job, then? Wink
I'm english kurious, so no. On a related note, did you know that 38% of americans could not point to england on a global map?

Likely the same amount of English could not point on an unlabeled map where the state of Wisconsin was without cheating.

The U.S. Has 50 states so much more than a single country on the map. Your point is moot.

You are quite correct in your assertion - I confess I couldn't have placed it in all honesty.

However in defence of us non-US citizens here, if Wisconsin were a country it would rank 90th in the world (behind Uraguay) and has a population of less than England's biggest city, so it's not a totally fair comparison.

Just sayin'! Smiley

Steady on - we're only a shade above 750 after the nth attempt.

Even reaching the ATH in December would be pretty amazing - many 1000's (or tens of thousands?) MOAR sounds scarily bullish.

That's not usually a good sign here!

Fingers well and truly crossed, but really...?

I am English too, Volyova and I think 38% is an probably an overestimate, I understand less than a third of that number had a passport before they started insisting on one to cross into Canada recently.

Seriously though - are you actually buying our beloved currency, joining in with us criminals?

I would wait to see if BTC can keep over 750 and if so, pick up a dip, looks like this push might at least produce wobbles.....  I dumped a lot of alts early this morning just in case (not XMR, though).

Welcome on board if you are taking a punt.
Hey, thanks mate! It has gone up a lot though, in a short amount of time, which is dangerous. I'll prolly hang on for that gui wallet LOL.

Yes, I won't argue with that, but it's a good coin - no premine and all that, devs are honest...  Fundamentals are good.

As for the GUI, I know it's been Soon™ for so long it's a running joke, I do personally expect it to be within 4-6 weeks at the latest now, it's just daemon updates - the thing is basically done (bar some debugging).

The volume is huge and liquidity is good as you know, so while it does fluctuate and still may dip from the Finex news spike, accumulating slowly now during December is not a terrible idea in advance of the GUI.

I think by February any December buys might look rather genius-like - but hey, whatever you do - good luck.

Even Stamp has broken 750, volume seems bullish.

Maybe this time, then?

@kurious
I wish you all good luck with buying/selling anything on Bitfinex.

And it's not true, there is sites where you can buy monero directly with fiat.

https://monerodirect.com/

https://anycoindirect.eu/en/buy/monero

https://shapeshift.io/?gclid=CNuAmsz20tACFVEW0wodyB0PLQ#/coins

https://www.litebit.eu/en/buy/monero

list goes on and on...

Fair enough, I do realise other ways exist - I guess I meant a 'major' BTC/Fiat exchange with the liquidity to offer reasonable spreads and trading too.

Let's see if Finex does make a significant difference, then we will know.

2132  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 01, 2016, 11:23:54 AM
No real volume to suggest it - but if not this time... maybe it just won't do it until the news is better, which doesn't look like coming soon.

I have my fingers crossed for this weekend, but on current form?
2133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 01, 2016, 11:00:52 AM
Watching BTC - will it finally bust through 750....?
2134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 01, 2016, 10:05:23 AM
As I can see today, order book is full of emptiness at Bitfinex lol. What a crap of news to try to recover bear trend.

No one new this was coming (although the lift in the past few days following an attempt to dump the XMR price down was a little surprising, so perhaps someone was in on it)

Anyway - it will take time to build depth there. Also, any deposits of fiat will take days to arrive.  Anyone trading XMR/BTC is easily better off on Polo because it has hugely superior liquidity.   What is undoubtedly true is that a fiat option for XMR on a major exchange is big news and people wanting to just buy with cash will have an option that has not really existed thus far.

I have had occasions when I wanted to increase my XMR without reducing my BTC position in the past and i am sure I am not alone in this, I will now be able to use this option

So far I simply have added a little XMR and BTC to the market there, just to add liquidity and maybe scalp some moves - the spread is still quite large with such low liquidity.  I will admit I don't really like Finex as a platform and never traded there before, but for XMR it is a positive so adding a little play money is worth doing while I suss the place out.

What happens if /when any new fiat arrives will be interesting.  Finex wants new customers and Polo has never offered the USD /XMR on-ramp - both sides win.

Deposits of XMR took way less than 30 minutes, by the way.  Which was quicker than me learning how to navigate the exchange.

Anyone got any train pics handy - BTC Wall Observer doesn't need them, bring them here? Wink

This is rather delightful!

Dash in the rear view mirror once and for all.  They will be so pissed off, or perhaps they might see the light at last...

I guess Bitfinex could be just the beginning, other exchanges will also want a part of the pie. Wink

It was only a matter of time, Polo was making a lot out of XMR and Bitfinex needed to bring new customers in.

Since Polo offers no USD / XMR option - it's way overdue an exchange moved on this.

I guess Risto knows what's he talking about...0.004-5 coming.

Hmm... It's not impossible - but all those dumps have been absorbed and the price is (currently) back up over 0.01 in spite of a BTC rise.

Which is way better than I expected.

Let's see what BTC does, if it fails to breach 750 again I can't see XMR going down as far as 0.004x and if it doesn't drop that low soon (December) I am not sure it ever will.

Has this scam-clone got a gui wallet yet?

Sweet of you to drop by Volyova.

In answer, not quite - we still have our heads firmly in the sand though, just like your new avatar, it seems.

We have a GUI you can compile yourself which functions - but it's waiting for a daemon update to be a GUI which is idiot proof.

TLDR?

Soon™
