Probably older generation miners dropping off to either be replaced or just simply being taken offline due to inneficiencies.

10% PH so quick could be older generation but i think it would still be a data center. Nobody has 100PH of S3's in the first place so, i'm wondering why exactly and also. Why now? Why not after the next diff increase? The timing doesnt make that much sense.

Maybe not S3's but there are a TON of A1 miners in china.  They were pumping them out pretty quick and many brands used A1 chips at one time.

So if they did start pulling A1's off it would make a difference.  If they are doing it ... dont know low price on electricity may still have life on some A1's.

Still missing payment and becoming a consern,. Hope you resolve problems as last few payment have had problems on.

We were on a streak of 2 working in a row to.  I know they will fix it, it is kinda a bummer for this to happen.

It's still the best sig campaign.  Just wish we could work out these from happening.
2123  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How many bitcoins can you mine with a typical computer? on: February 16, 2016, 02:38:12 PM
with server I count 3-4$ in month, so imagine yourself what amount will be with common PC, just forget about it

This is so vague though.  We need to know your server specs just saying I have a server does not mean the same thing as there are HUGE differences in performance and price.   But you cannot generalize gear like a server, you have to put details.  Granted it likely will not pay cost of it... .but still you have to go into it.

I agree cpu/gpu mining day's are over as far as ROI.  GPU might make a little money depending on electricity but it wont pay for cards.
2124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: February 16, 2016, 02:35:17 PM
Will be interesting to watch we should see batch 10 shipping any time: ANTMINER S7 BATCH 10 - Shipped out from Feb. 16~20
Currently in China:  4:47 PM  Tuesday, February 16, 2016

So I'm guessing not the 16th since no one reported shipping notice.  But should be soon as long as they keep timeline.

Not sure how many will buy at current prices.

I would almost be willing to bet they decided to keep all of their remaining batch 8 and 9.  Hence, the considerable hash rate increase we saw.  I believe they also hooked up the batch 10 over the holidays for testing purposes.  How many of the batch 10 they keep as well is unknown.

EDIT:  I expect bitcoin price to rise to about $630's to $730's soon.  It will rise to those levels over approximately a 2 month period.

EDIT:  The block halving has changed from July 25th to July 13th now.  I'm anticipating the block halving to take place in late June at the current rate.  This means the pump I'm expecting may peek the end of April or early May then go back down to who knows what.  That's if it takes a similar road LTC took at its block halving.

However, it is possible it could go up higher before falling, like what I'm depicting in the following screen shot.  I have it leveling out at about $450 in June, 2016:

I really hope your right on price rising, as if difficulty keeps rising we need a better value to keep a decent profit margin or at least I do.    If you look at hash it has slowed down I think it's due to Batch 10's being boxed up.  I could be wrong but that is my theory.

I think they will make another batch and sell again.  I think they have mastered design with least amount of chips needed and high freq.  I think they make a killing when they sell them.  So I feel every batch just means more money for them.  I think we will keep seeing them and they will lower prices based on difficulty partially trying to drum up new sales at lower price each batch.
2125  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: People so upset about the difficulty they are SMASHING their miners to pieces on: February 16, 2016, 02:30:21 PM
Amazon is the best for selling plus you maximize your profit by twice what stuff goes for on this FOURM. I still sell here but on things people nickel and dime you on I put on Amazon.

The trouble with Amazon or Ebay is returns.  You have a LOT more liability then selling on forums.  On forums great thing is most likely person knows how to mine, so no teaching.   And I LOVE to teach mining, just not a ton in a row when I'm getting rid of previous gen.  Also on forum you get cash without a cut taken out.

If I don't sell for fair price on forum I then go to ebay.  And I do keep in mine ebay fee's and paypal add up, they double dip with taking too fee's.  The crazy thing is they also take fees out of shipping price on Ebay, as some abused it when it had no fee's.   So I have to markup shipping to break even.

On ebay I put up a Buy It Now, that is high for the item.  This allows for offers to come in to me and I can pick someone with good feedback.  I hate selling to new users.

Other reason is collecting.  I think most would be surprised how many collect some USB miners.  They are small easy to display and pretty cheap.  Also some have a few colors so you can collect multiple to have a set.

How much do you offer me for my U2 ?
...if you pay as well the sending fees...(lol)

Me nothing... I don't get too wrapped up in getting them all on USB sticks just to many for me.  I like rare sticks so some of my collector's are prototype's that I like the best.  Which I still have a very small collection I don't consider myself a collector.

But I could understand why some might like collecting them.
2127  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: £16,000 ($23,209) for profitable Bitcoin Mining farm? on: February 16, 2016, 02:19:49 PM
It is quite profitable to mine Ethereum at the moment. But the price is dropping at the moment. Mining is a risky business.

BTC vs Ethereum is like apples and oranges.  BTC is being mined by huge asics, and other is more GPU miner territory I believe.  So your comparing the main currency to a alt.

Yes alt coin's can go up fast, but they can go down just as fast.   Maybe suggest OP to try a few altcoin's for fun.  But I HIGHLY suggest keeping BTC as main currency unless you like risk.
2128  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 7 to Feb 19? picks are closed. on: February 16, 2016, 02:16:46 PM
I think it's a good theory, makes sense and fits with what we have seen over the last few Days.

Rich

It fit's it pretty darn good to.  They left mining till after Holiday then they started boxing and getting ready to ship.  Hard to tell how many they did lowest price yet 2.1 BTC or around 850.

They also might have some big bulk customer's to look at PCFLI - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1283287.240 .  Seems his order was held onto till after holiday's.   So small customers an big likely had this in my theory.

Now comes question on if this is true how quick can they fill up the spots with newly produced gear, and do another batch.  Pretty smart for them do a "burn in" test and make good money, then sell and instant make ROI on miners.  Seems like Bitmain cannot lose right now.

those devices "trezor" you buy look cool but couldnt it just get confiscated? And if you have it on a computer isnt it risky? I dont even know what a wallet is so if my

You get what are called "seed words" that if Trezor is lost or taken you could recover the address on a wallet.  These words are VERY important I suggest keeping in a place such as safty deposit box.

Trezor is by far he most popular here is a hands on with it, it might help you decide if you want to go hardware wallet route.- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1298917.0

And on other question as first step I would ask what country are you in?   And with this I would point you to a good legit exchange to buy some BTC at.  You need to read and learn.  But buying is pretty common in first steps.
2130  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can any one tell me... which is the best cloud mining site?? on: February 16, 2016, 09:09:43 AM
Well not really the best as most cloud mining sites are practically scam sites with a high tendency of running away with your invested money but there's one in particular that is being operated under a reputable asic mining company (Bitmain) and it's name is "HASHNEST". They have a higher chance of not running away with your money so take a look at their thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=766448.0

Hashnest is only one I send people to anymore.  You know you are getting a legit miner or amount of hash.  You know they will not run off as mentioned, they are going to going to be a "good" cloud provider.

My biggest advice is for OP to avoid ones that push for sales on forums.  I know one in newbie thread that does this a few times a month.   So watch out for this, as it is sad but a lot of cloud try to get new members before they know better.
2131  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How many bitcoins can you mine with a typical computer? on: February 16, 2016, 09:01:47 AM
With my U2 I mine 200  up 500 satoshi per day...
with computer you should mine mine 20 to 50 per day...

If he goes for a usb stick miner go with gekkoscience compac.  It's about same or less then ebay U2's and you can order direct from Sidehack.  And instead of 2 GH you will get 8 pretty easy.  If you have good hub and y cable you are talking about 16 GH+.

And be away usb sticks are more for fun/lotto mining.  So ROI is unlikely.   But if you go that route for sure get the compac.  As far as regular computers mining GPU/CPU on btc those day's are dead.

I have bought it expensive...just for the fun...
I was not interested in a risky seconde hand.
Now i get it...I keep it.

if someone is interested to comine with me...i will sent him the satoshi back

Not sure what you mean.  The one I recommended was going with the Compac right now, best usb stick for the money.   You can order direct from sidehack.

If your talking about U2's there is a reason you cant get direct anymore... they are obsolete unless using for learning.  Most lotto miners it makes more sense sell U2's and buy Compacs 2 GH vs possibly 16+ GH is just a huge difference in speed.

you are right...
but If I sell it because it is obselete...why should someone buy it if it is obselete? (lol)
And so far i'm not interested in an other usb stick.

Some buy for learning even being old and obsolete it is fine for learning mining.   You could even use a asic miner block erupter, nothing wrong with using one for learning.

Other reason is collecting.  I think most would be surprised how many collect some USB miners.  They are small easy to display and pretty cheap.  Also some have a few colors so you can collect multiple to have a set.
2132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: February 16, 2016, 08:57:34 AM
But the best part about pulling parts and remounting is it's pretty easy when you have a reflow oven and a putty knife and a pick-and-place machine.

At this point, pods as they've been discussed in this thread are basically deceased. The chips I can use are either about to be two generations behind, unavaiable, or have no datasheet. For now the pod as it is in this thread might be repurposed as a testbed for a new project but with the diff where it's going, it'll be hard to make a BM1385/A3218 pod feasible let alone a BM1384.

Ahh, i still have that (your extra) S5 board you sent me by accident. What do i do with it?

If you make some pods i still dont mind doing a trade in of S5/S1/AMTubes boards. But i understand that from a development standpoint it might not be worth the production costs.

I hope he does it as I really like his work.  But I think S1/AM tubes are not going to be big on list of needs (unless from componets he needs), I just don't see chips being that great.

The good news for the project is bitcoin difficulty is going crazy.  Which is bad for miners.   But likely means S3's and S5's will only get cheaper and if difficulty keeps going like it is hard to say what cost would be in a month even.   So the good news is possibly cheaper miners with decent chips.   But granted they still are not the latest and greatest chips.

Yeah he said he needed the S1/AMT for the solid state caps and such. And that the S1 had more needed components than he expected. But the thing is its not very motivating to do this work when the pods would no longer really ROI.

Its too bad because i know pods would still be okay. I mean look at people still buying U3 just because they're quiet and they're run on free electricity. But its pretty niche now, i guess.

Personally i still want them, but *shrug*. Price wise it might be a bit icky.

I can't figure out why people still pay so much for U3's.  I bought from crazy guy and eventually got R1 to control them with Crazy Guy's custom firmware.  I played with them for a month or two and i lost interest.  I actually made ROI by selling for some reason people  still pay decent on U3's or did during time I sold.

I am waiting to see if the pod happens I would add one maybe a few to play with.  I still would like to see a company sell current gen chips to Sidehack.  Would love if he got support and we see a pod with it.

I burned an S1 once. It smelled terrible. I put some wood in it, lit a match and... it was in my basement Smiley

Even with last gen it was a pain to get sell.  I had some GREAT buyer's on here and a LOT of low ball offers on here.  Eventually I but lower price then I had hoped on some gear I could not sell on forum, and put up auctions.

When I got to my last miner and it was not going I really wanted to do something like this to it.... but my ROI side has problems losing any extra ROI.
2135  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 7 to Feb 19? picks are closed. on: February 16, 2016, 08:39:26 AM
Well another relatively placid +5.5% 152 Block day Yesterday. Not at all sure what is going on here but 4 Days ago the run rate for the period peaked at +20% and since then has been pulling back. We are now at +15% and if this trend continues we could end up around +13%.

Rich

Interesting I would not have seen this coming.  And it happened after Chinese New Years, which is opposite as I thought.  I thought Chinese New Year would slow down speeds but it seems we had more if anything.

Bitwisdom is going down:
Bitcoin Difficulty:    144,116,447,847
Estimated Next Difficulty:    168,104,132,762 (+16.64%)
Adjust time:    After 494 Blocks, About 3.0 days
Hashrate(?):    1,106,477,610 GH/s

*Edit... have possible scary idea on reason on drop

Batch 10 ship time: ANTMINER S7 BATCH 10 - Shipped out from Feb. 16~20
Currently in China:  4:47 PM ish  Tuesday, February 16, 2016

So think they had employees going through data center and pulling mines to ship out soon?   That could explain a drop... and I hope I'm wrong on it.
2136  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What would you do? on: February 16, 2016, 08:35:15 AM
As well as some calculating and head scratching I would also say get mining ASAP. Pick up an S5 and PSU, and get going up the learning curve. Research is good but you need to actually be mining to understand some of the problems and even the questions to ask.

Rich

For what you get S5's  are pretty good if you get a deal if you have very cheap electricity.  I know I sold my S5's for less then I was hoping.... good for buyers bad for me.   I did do it in a shorter amount of time as I wanted to take my previous gen gear and turn it into BTC.  I think you will find this becoming common with jumps.

Also I found a LOT of miners that use ebay wan't Bitmain gear they sold fastest for me on ebay.   I would suggest you also compare SP20 and S5 when your buying.  SP20 if electricity is correct you could run higher speeds then S5.  Double check your electricity as it seem to low almost.  So double check before buying.
2137  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What happens after 16nm? on: February 16, 2016, 08:28:43 AM

But seriously... Btc ASICs have jumped from 135nm and up to now 16nm in just a few years. Imagine...

This was actually my main point. ASICs developed fast when there was a big gap compared to general purpose IC:s. But now that ASICs have reached them I guess, we won't see that fast change any more.

And there is good reason for it there is a TON of profit if a big company does it right.  Want to see one that does look at SP released last year profit's. They are one of few not private companies, so they have to release data.

As long as there is profit we will continue to see a jump in lower nm, or more optimized current gen.  Hard to predict in a year even what gear will look like, they huge jumps in efficiency.    And this will only continue as long as it's highly profitable or these big companies.  What will be interesting is if a lot of hash keeps getting added then, having market could change.
2138  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: £16,000 ($23,209) for profitable Bitcoin Mining farm? on: February 16, 2016, 08:24:47 AM
I am quite new to this, but I was considering starting a bitcoin mining farm. I was considering investing 16k

dude, if you are interested about bitcoin and new to all this, buy them directly from some reputable exchange.

mining is not for guys like you anymore, unless you are not in China and you don't know ASIC manufacturers. if you really want to mine, buy raspberry pi as controller and some cheap old ASIC and play with it but my honest advice: don't buy any mining gear for thousands of dollars..

95 percent I'm guessing of these threads don't ever lead to a investment. It's like "Here I might spend X amount go do my research".  It does seem he realizes it's hard from other posts.... but now he's going even bigger in calculation.

Hey guys,

So for example:

Initial investment £206,400 = 300 x S7 miners  = 1419 TH/S = £19918 per month (pm)

£19918 pm - £12214 (bills/rent/broadband pm) = £7704 pm.

SO WITH A £206,400 INVESTMENT, IT STILL TAKES 2.3 YEARS TO GET ROI.

During the 2 years your hardware becomes out of date and you've only broke even, with no profit, then you have to buy new hardware. SO WHAT IS THE POINT? Am I missing something? Perhaps it's only worth it if you invest millions?

So I predict we can leave this thread alone as I don't think OP will invest.
2139  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I want to mine on my Oven' NEMA 14-50r on: February 15, 2016, 09:24:49 PM
I have a NEMA 14-50r that i would rather not change, i move out soon, but i would still like to mine on it for the time being and when i move i will also have access to a NEMA 14-50r.

-What would be the most cost effective solution? (30A PDU on 50A receptable?)
-What would be the solution where i would get access to the most power?
-In regard to question #2, would it be possible to get a electrically safe box that would plug into a NEMA 14-50r and output multiple of the the more common outlet that the cheap PDU plug into?

I remember philipma1957 linking PDU dirt cheap. But it seem that a 50A PDU is 10x the price of a 30A PDU or so?

Note: The breaker the 14-50r is plugged into is 40A.

I don't know that I have seen any deals on 50 amp PDU, I think that route might be hard due to not near as many used ones on market.  When you go to 20 or 30 amp PDU's you can find a deal most of the time.  There really are a lot of used people sell for far less then new price.   I have one really nice 30 amp pdu I owe Phil for finding a deal on, and I have one lower quality one as a backup I bought about a month ago.

What I would be doing is looking for a way to split it and go to 2 PDU's.   Someone else chime in.  But I think splitting the connection might be way to go.  Anyone have a decent deal on a cable to do this for him?  I'm thinking a cable that can do this on 40a might be a tad expensive as far as splitters go.

Hello everybody ,

I am new in bitcoin mining i would like same tech guy for assistance so we can pay the installation and configuration fees as well will teach us bit about bitcoin mining and how we can earning btc elc...

Best regards
Sam

Biggest mistake I can think of with new S7's is ordering the Bitmain PSU and not having 205+ V to start the thing.  So how many volts does your electricity have?

Did you already order?  Besides power and possibly cooling, the machine is pretty easy with GUI to setup.
