2121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you play online/offline without your wife or family knowing it? on: September 05, 2022, 11:50:36 AM
Never even thought about keeping it a secret from my family. If you are responsible for your own budget and are responsible for what you do yourself, then why should there be any secrets? If there is an understanding of risks and competent budget management, then you will simply see what can bring you money, and where losses occur.

Your family must be really cool and understanding. Coming from a home that is religious doctrine would never understand a bit, society has set a standard for gamblers as irresponsible people that's why they don't show people that they gamble.

I don't know how things are in your country, but in our country many students combine studies with work to become independent of their parents.

In my place, you hardly see varsity students who don't use a sportsbook, they gamble to survive and gamble for fun combine even as they do their outside work to support their academics, sometimes I do feel it is too many Ads of bets they see that do contribute to this behaviour.

If I found out that my child is gambling with the money I send him to live, I would be very upset. I believe that if a person decides to gamble, he should spend the money he has personally earned, not the money his parents give him. Think about it.
My country's minimum age to start gambling is 18, that's an adult. It is up to him to use it wisely as long he doesn't ask you for another upkeep.

2122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Casino Stake.com sued for $400 million on: September 05, 2022, 11:08:36 AM
This is madness! An established company may have a lot of money but going around to sue a company that in some ways give you some inconvenience fortune is nonsense. The same amount of $400m crypto.com spent on a 5-year partnership deal with UEFA Champions League, the lawyer needs to be spread some pepper spray in the eye regardless of what transpires between them.

Every businesses are subject to lawsuits. That is a common issue many companies and businesses face daily, what doesn't mean the casino is going to crash and go bankrupt for this reason despite the case's outcomes.

Not when the lawsuits can break them, even if they are guilty, the jury wouldn't be in favour for them to pay out the $400m, the company will likely die sooner than expected.

Quote
I don't know how much Stake is currently dealing with in a daily basis, but for being the biggest crypto casino among all, I guess a hypothetical 400,000,000$ loss won't hurt them at all. Remember a sole gambler wagered more than 1$ billion dollars on the platform already. For the house it's much more profitable to keep operating, even if they have to pay an indemnity, than closing the doors and losing its income that will inevitably cover the prejudice after a while.

Op is an example that many players will stop playing in that casino, now that the company has been sued, their revenues will reduce because they wouldn't experience traffic as they used to and paying off will be difficult.
2123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Infographics] Does Football Betting Pay Off? on: September 05, 2022, 10:46:02 AM
I think the more you bet is the more you lose, so people who said they earn more than they lose and actually make money out of betting is the one who does betting as hobby, they bet like once in 2 or 3 months, and they are lucky to win those. While most people who bet weekly, or even put more than 1 bet each week, they will lose more than they make profit.

Other than that the chart only tell the amount of people that win money, it does not state that those people who win money win more than they lose.

No, I don't think so. This is determined by the type of game you bet on and the frequency with which you bet. I have a friend in my neighbourhood who is well-known and popular for the betting lifestyle, this guy literally spends almost days of his life in a physical betting shop betting on popular English matches and rarely wins a single parlay of bets. I also know a guy who bets in his spare time, wagers large sums of money, and it turns out that he always wins. They both play repeatedly, but the first guy is addicted, and you know what happens to a gambler when they are addicted, loss after loss is what they get.
2124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Strategies & Betting Psychology on: September 05, 2022, 10:26:29 AM
This is particularly important to serious bettors, those who are betting all the time and those who are betting with big amounts. It is really important to strictly observe proven and tested betting strategies and betting psychology if they want to go into betting full time. But for those of us who are only betting every once in a while and wager only small amounts, those who are betting exclusively for fun, there's really no need to get into tiny details of betting strategies.

Either way, both the player who is playing for fun and the one playing with bigger amounts will yield result in every outcome, no player will reject a winning ticket, so basically having some strategies in the pocket is not a bad idea but the problems with strategies is that they are theoretical. Most often than not, gambling involves thinking about how to make moves usually filled with emotions. It will surprise you even as a player that you will not remember all the strategies you have learned to handle some situations, the only thing that does help out sometimes are instincts and the mind.
2125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you play online/offline without your wife or family knowing it? on: September 04, 2022, 06:57:35 PM

Now, this would be something of a thread where users can give tips as to how we play online/offline without our family knowing it. Curious how you do it.

My wife suspected me for almost a year already when I was watching a UFC channel on youtube where they suggest who to bet. Of course, I said No when she asked if I was betting. From then on I just hold my phone whenever she is not around. It's a long argument when your wife suggests buying this or that on amazon yet you gambling your funds. lol

As a husband, you have every reason to decline some demands women bring but if you are a gambler and have free money to throw away to casinos, you should do everything at home to make them provide the little they always demand otherwise they will think you're running from your responsibility and wasting money on things that will make you lose what you are supposed to use at home.

Why would you do something if you’re so ashamed of it that you can’t even be open and honest with your family or significant other? If you’ve gotten to the point where you’re hiding your behavior because you know it’s wrong, then you have an addiction, not a hobby. You should speak with someone and live a life you’re proud to take credit for.

Some women aren't understanding and don't want to take yes when it comes to gambling. If a man is engaged and becomes a family person, you have to settle down with some arguments for peace to reign sometimes.
Am I the only that thinks UFC aren't too addictive like the other sports, they are more of entertainment and fun than other sports gambling that can easily addict a gambler and lose focus.
2126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dealing with ISP block on Gambling websites on: September 04, 2022, 06:27:15 PM
There's no other option than using the VPN with this but of course, make sure to check if the gambling website is supported the use of the VPN because your account might risky due to having different addresses and preventing a flag like suspicious activity with your account. Also, another thing you can do is to change the ISP you have if there are a lot of providers in your country and you are willing to change just to play with your hobby.

With multiple scam accusations filed, KYC rejections, and accounts frozen in this forum, I would not advise the OP to use a VPN, not because the IP address may change if he forgets to use a consistent one, but because most of these casinos now require KYC and if you provide incorrect documents, it will be rejected, and you risk losing your money because you will be logged out the moment they discover you are attempting to do something illegal. It is illegal to attempt to gamble online when your government has instructed your ISP not to play. If you continue to try, the casinos have every right to confiscate your account and balance.
2127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: September 04, 2022, 06:01:58 PM
Impressive ! Manchester United is on fire, Arsenal are made helpless now the standings are also very thin in the top 3, the difference is only one point and it is very interesting to watch Premier League. Arsenal 5 winning streak has been broken by the Red Devils, it turned out that Ten Hag had a miracle in his head but I'm very happy Manchester United their performance is getting better.

Poor Arsenal! I thought Saka had the best chance as soon as they resumed the second half until the defenders flopped again. Arsenal had the opportunity to gain more points today by having a larger margin against others, but the defenders went on a sleeping spree. Their position on the table appears to be weaker, but their next match may not be as difficult as the outcome of Manchester City.

Erik Teng's strategy appears to be a challenge to other top teams, they have cancelled Liverpool and Arsenal, if they do the same to Chelsea and Manchester City, they will earn every ounce of respect they have lost in this short period.
2128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: September 04, 2022, 05:25:15 PM
Lewandowski is like a machine, his goal-scoring desire is natural, it's hard to find a great striker like him, he's old but amazing compared to the young. he is currently on the list of the best goalscorers in La Liga, and for sure until the season ends, he will continue to be at the top of the top scorers.
Barcelona have made the right move by having a player like Lewandowski because he is able to provide enthusiasm and strength for Barcelona this season so that Barcelona has been able to compete very well again this season. And I think Lewandowski has a chance to be the top scorer this season in La Liga until the end of this season.

To be honest, his performance at Bayern last season deserved him to win the Balon D'or, but the politics between Messi and Ronaldo prevented him from getting the opportunity, now he is now in Barcelona still killing it.
So far, under his watch, Barcelona has not surrendered a single match, they have drawn one with Vallecano, and even a blind man could tell you that it was a fascinating tie, and it is only a matter of time before they forcefully trade places with Real Madrid. I don't want that to happen though.  Grin

2129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: September 04, 2022, 04:50:53 PM

It was quite painful that the goal had to be annulled by the referee, Arsenal and Manchester United game in the first half was quite balanced, both teams alternately continued to attack, currently we are missing 1 goal and hope the Arsenal players can keep their mentality strong with hope could turn things around second half.
Arsenal needs to gain more momentum in the game; they have more chances than Manchester United, but Manchester United takes advantage of their opportunity and scores.
We just hope Arsenal puts more effort into their attack and changes the game in the second half; otherwise, the match will be a disaster for them.

With this performance, they already have the momentum on check and balance, they also have the chances just that it is not going as they intend to, look at their ball statistics, it says it all and the way they physically attacked Manchester United. It will go down on history that Arsenal had the chance to win 6 matches in the premier league after 2003 but Manchester united couldn't let them.
If they concede to Manchester United after today, that is not the end for them, to be fair and truthful, they have really tried from round 1 without losing any match, they're going to maintain the place they are on the table.

EDIT: Arsenal has equalized. Score: 1-1
2130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What could these 4000+BTC whale addresses possibly be up to? on: September 02, 2022, 06:09:01 PM

I don't know if the admins/owner of that Bitcoinabuse does take care of this spam.
Unfortunately, they won't:

  • Can you remove a report?
No, in order to protect the integrity of the BitcoinAbuse database we will not remove or edit any reports.

If they have a database, then half of it must have been polluted with junk addresses and fake reports. What is the integrity they are trying to protect when they cannot handle spams, why would anyone take a report seriously when they don't have the integrity to protect it? Relying on this type of website could be misleading, even Bitcointalk being an open forum with freedom has rules that must be followed so that others will not be misled by improper information.

2131  Economy / Exchanges / Re: About my safety on exchange on: September 02, 2022, 02:32:55 AM
Hello 👋  how can I buy coins from a exchange without submitting my national Identity card or BVN number? As for those who did this how safe is it? I don't have anything against verification but I am not sure its safe or am I wrong about its safety?.

Centralized exchanges are the last place you may want to buy coins if privacy is an utmost priority to you, as soon as you submit your documents, that is all. My problem with these exchanges these days is that they do have problems on daily basis with government agencies which makes it difficult for me to even trust them, I know government organizations aren't different but both they have common goals which are always self-interest. Do not do KYC, and don't send your documents to any group of organizations just to buy any coin, you don't know what they might later do with them.

You can make use of any decentralized exchanges of your choice as an alternative to exchanges that require document verifications.
2132  Economy / Economics / Re: State Of Corruption In Nigeria Amidst World Corruption on: September 02, 2022, 02:20:02 AM
Every time I read or hear about the corruption in Nigeria, it hurts like a knife has been thrust through my heart. However, what can one of us individually do? One person cannot end corruption among people, it must begin with each individual. You can only do the best you can. Everyone must consider not participating in any of them if corruption in Nigeria must end, but the real question is: "Are we willing to stay away from corruption?" I know we have bad leaders and they are the ones who are the problem of the nations that can't just stop looting treasury accounts and resources but if it must end, then everyone must be ready to stop it too.

Someone once said that everyone has benefited from corruption, either directly or indirectly, such as paying money to have admission when your parent could pass through the normal channel, paying the bank manager extra money to have your local currency converted to foreign currency just to be faster than others, and so on. These things are done for you by our parents and you benefit from it, which makes you involved in corruption as well.

2133  Economy / Economics / Re: Helping others could help to improve our country's economy on: September 02, 2022, 02:01:29 AM
Let's all join hand together for the growth of our country and for the betterment of the world.

Actually, this is why we have governments and this is why we have leaders in every country. We have them from the Presidency to the least in power but you know, in failed countries of developing and underdevelop, these hardly work but developed countries do try their best in handling those above problems, it not necessary that the middle and rich folks have to try to do that, there is money set aside during yearly budget padding to tackle these during emergencies.

Where the rich people who have good hearts come from are always the Non-government organizations(NGOs) but they are very limited with resources because the amount they do have to help is not always enough to go around, they can only do the one they can to help others
2134  Economy / Economics / Re: Savings during inflation on: September 02, 2022, 01:50:21 AM
You're right about this. Inflation is just one of the reasons you should never hold a fiat from day one, you will lose half of its value within a short period of time. While it is also possible that you may also lose a portion of investment during an economic crisis like the one we are currently facing right now but the big deal is to have them invested in something tangible because they always grow back after the shake but your fiats in your bank account are not tied to anything, and the sad part of it to a common citizen is that the CBN keeps printing worthless notes on the street while enriching the reach folks. My advice, there is no point in holding Fiat if you are not going to spend it that instant.
2135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be worth zero? on: September 01, 2022, 07:39:29 AM
We all know how volatile and unpredictable the cryptocurrency market can be. One month, a coin may be at its peak of value, and the next, it may have almost no value at all. Unfortunately, this is simply the name of the game when it comes to cryptography. But what would happen if the oldest and most valuable asset on the market, Bitcoin, dropped to zero?

https://portalcripto.com.br/en/crypto-crash-2022-bitcoin-pode-valer-zero/
font: https://portalcripto.com.br

Has it occurred to you that Bitcoin will ever go zero, it has never and will never go that low. It is even an insult to compare Bitcoin performance with altcoins that do pump and dump with few volumes.
I did experience when Bitcoin dropped so hard in 2020 during corona fear that everyone was furious of the spread of the virus, the price never go below $3k and the same week, the price went back to range of $5k to $6k when institutional investors came in because they were on the bench to have it at discount, now they did, they wouldn't watch their investment get discarded away. Bitcoin is not going to zero, this I'm confident about.  Cool
2136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: September 01, 2022, 07:18:29 AM

Newcastle is no longer a weak team. They are performing very well now. They also had a remarkable 3-3 draw against Manchester City. Newcastle coach Eddie Howe is doing a great job. He has managed to bring the team to a stable position. Newcastle can now perform well against any strong team. If they strengthened their forwards a bit this season they could have been in the 5/6th of the points table.

Newcastle United are very strong this season, they are very ready for the premier league this season, and due to their new ownership, they have made a series of good signings which has made the team strong enough to compete with almost all Big teams in England.

It's fully clear that Liverpool is not strong enough to be among the premier league title contenders this season, the entire team are not in form like last season, is it because of Mane's departure from the team? Looking at it the team structure, Mane has a very big impact on the Liverpool team and the way the team performance went very low, there are some kind chances that Mane do create for the team when he was with them that I'm no longer seeing, I am sure they are missing him.
2137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Commentary and commentators in sports. on: September 01, 2022, 06:29:39 AM
Commentary is underated in sports and commentators are not giving enough recognition for the role they play in sports.

I don't agree. In UFC good commentators earn a lot of money and are really appreciated by the fans. Joe Rogan made a nice career out of commenting and now has his own show.
It's the same with football commentators. Most of them are in this line of work for life and people get used to hearing their voices. I have my personal favourite football commentator who's known of doing it all the way in the 80s and 90s and he's still great at it.

You are right on that though but I still think some don't really make money as they are supposed to, this reminds me of Peter Drury, I mean what is Premier League without his voice, you don't enjoy the matches without him spicing up the game, he knows how to describe and play with words when the match is getting tough and intense, unfortunately, he left. If probably he is earning enough, he wouldn't have left for NBC sports because I know that Football should have been paying more than that where he is but who knows the offer he got was better than what he was been tip been a commentator in Premier and Champions League.
2138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about the school lessons of gambling addiction? on: September 01, 2022, 06:14:09 AM
Maybe Safe gambling and education instead, early education is very important to children since it gives them an early proper guide so that they don't become too exposed to some things that may affect their life, this shouldn't really be an institution or gathering but could start from the parents, the basic proper education should start from parents and let them know the merits and demerit of gambling and government could take it further and introduce it as subject, it will practices children to see gambling as an entertainment and something to have fun about since they are the one who used to give license to this companies.
2139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How will you handle this case on: August 30, 2022, 10:16:22 PM
I don't know how to handle this case, I have two junior brothers in my small town who lives opposite to my house, one help the other to create a trust wallet and 100$ worth of Ethereum was deposited into the wallet, two days later the fund was moved out to am unknown address, after asking few questions from the wallet owner I found out that the other guy has access to the wallet too, I believe he did the dirty trick because he never warned the wallet owner to never share his recovery seed with anyone..if you are in my shoe what will you do..

I will assume your brother who is the legitimate owner of the Eth should have learned his lessons by now that the no.1 rule of opening a wallet is that you should never trust anyone or any third party with your recovery seed/phrase/words, if he is actually literate and was watching when the other guy was helping him to create the wallet, he would have seen plenty of warnings display by Trust wallet on his screen that it should never share or shown to anyone, it should be written down and you have to validate by a checker that you have written down the recovery words before going forward.

You can't accuse the guy of being the one holding the Eth, it is a lesson learned for him in a sad way.
2140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What could these 4000+BTC whale addresses possibly be up to? on: August 30, 2022, 10:04:21 PM
When you said you explored Bitcoinabuse, I thought was some kind of analytical to look deeply at wallet addresses but it is not the case but there is something we are ignoring which is the website itself. According to Bitcoinabuse website, it is a public website where anyone could report a wallet address that has carried out fraudulent activity and this could be done by anyone because it is free and open to anyone but I also think that the scammers are taking advantage of this website. For example, I viewed the last report when I was on the website https://www.bitcoinabuse.com/reports/bc1q289x3t4ap46xt8dk3q2herzwy0muzpljhfl25j and It was a scammer trying to use that to get victims. Here is the screenshot below:

Looking at this comment, you will agree with me that this is a scammer at work and trying to make a report in disguise to scam people who may think that the website link posted in the description could help them when they lost Bitcoin to scammers. I don't know if the admins/owner of that Bitcoinabuse does take care of this spam.
