As long as it is cheaper to mine a coin than to buy it, or as long as you can sell it for more than it costs you mining it, new miners will get in until it reaches a balance and the energy consumption = worth of new created coins + tx fees.
This is a very simplistic and and short term point of view as would be nothing important just only if you can make a profit with mining or not. Making Profit is the sole reason most people mine. And it's not simplistic. If 1000 USD woth of Litcoin would be mined daily, new miners would pour in until close to 1000 USD worth of electricity are used every day. At this point it would make no sense to start mining and people buy instead. The exact same goes for Bitcoin. As long as Electricity is used to mine a coin, there is no such thing as Energy Efficiency for a coin. Of course you have to add cost of equipment to this, but besides from this it really is that simple. Therefore this is a valid argument: Energy Efficiency or Cost of Equipment don't matter, for no proof of work based crypto currency.
However both bitcoin and litecoin are proof of work based crypto-currencies so it is not a valid argument and energy efficiency have importance. |

Die erste Lösung können sie sich nicht leisten. Die zweite eigentlich auch nicht, ausserdem bekommen die Kunden dann bei weitem nicht die bestellte und bezahlte Leistung. Bei der dritten Lösung sind alle Kunden noch mehr angepisst. So wie ich BFL kenne wird es auf die dritte Lösung rauslaufen.
Du hast die 4 Lösung vergessen: BFL kauft die Chips aus externer Quelle und dengelt die nur noch aufs Board. Leider ist das doch das was BFL von Anfang an gemacht hat. Finde es nicht mehr, aber auf einer Zeichnung die BFL mal gepostet hat, war klar der Name eines ASIC Designers drauf und zwar der eines mit relativ schlechtem Ruf. Da sie bestimmt keine eigen Wafer Produktion haben, ist also alles komplett Outgesourced. BFL hat nur die Aufträge vergeben und wahrscheinlich von jedem Lieferanten die best-case Szenarien angenommen. Im Endeffekt, hätte es für den Job den BFL macht einen erfahrenen Projektmanager gebraucht. Da dass in dem Sinn alles ist was die selbst gemacht haben. (Assembly auf die PCBs machen sie tatsächlich selbst) So jemanden haben die aber nicht eingestellt. |

But I'm actually very happy, that the biggest BTC exchange is still in the Hands of a real Bitcoiner. He could possible sell it for Millions if not close to a billion right now. (Just think about the billions for Skype)
Kudos to him that he hasn't done it jet and stays away from all this hassle.

Ich gehe auch davon aus, das Bitcoin früher oder später für die Porno Branche interessant wird. Für die Kunden hat es den Vorteil, dass die Zalung mehr oder weniger anonym ist und den Kunden mit einer deutlich geringeren Wahrscheinlichkeit nach vielen Jahren wieder einholen kann. Für die Firmen entfällt das Rückbuchungsrisiko, dass man mit Kreditkarten und Paypal so hat. Billiger als Paysafecard etc. ist es auch noch.
Achtung: Ein übler Fehler wäre, die Möglichkeit zu nutzen und den Kunden abzuzocken, sodass er sich nachher verarscht fühlt (Beispiel die ASIC Miner Verkäufer). Damit kann man den Markt ganz schnell kaputt machen, sodass für lange Zeit niemand mehr freiwillig Bitcoin in diesem Bereich anfassen wird!
Beispiel dafür is die Online Cam Scene, hier hat ein aggressiver Bitcoin Promoter dafür gesorgt, dass die Mädels von Bitcoin die nächsten Jahre wohl nichts mehr wissen wollen.

This study doesn't take into account:
1. Lost Coins - in the first Year Bitcoin where worth absolutely nothing. That kind of software you install, play around a bit, see you can do nothing with it and delete. There are ~47000 Adresses that hold exactly 50 BTC, or one old Blockreward, that where never used again. Indicating, there could be up to 2.3 Million Lost Bitcoins due to Mining some Blocks and deleting the Bitcoin Software alone (of course its lower, that's only the maximum)
2. And most important, when you send an transaction you client automatically creates a new address for the change. If now you only use each of your addresses once, like many users do, 100% of you Bitcoin addresses belong to the addresses that have revived but never send coins.
And more than 3 Month old would mean, you have to transact all you coins all 3 Month so they aren't added to that 60%.
There is Saving/Hoarding but not as high than indicated.

I agree that at this price level a standard Unit of mBTC would be reasonable.
It's also no hard work to implement this. It's only how the 100000000 Units of one BTC are displayed in the GUI.
However, before we change to this, the current price level should proof itself sustainable.
Wouldn't make sense to price things in mBTC, only to go back in a few Days/Weeks? Because one mBTC is only a fraction of a Cent.
If we are at a level where mBTC makes sense for several month, services will start pricing in mBTC on their own.

I apperently have another forum account with my main email address because it won't let me register with that one but I can't remember the username or passowrd. Also, the "forgot my password" link isn't actually sending me an email so I'm stuck with this account and I can't PM ABCPool support myself, I can only post here.
Anyway, my problem is the transaction just isn't confirming or showing up at all on blockchain.info. I tipple checked (more like 5 or 6 times because I'm worried now) that the address on ABCPool matches the address in my bitcoin wallet. I'm using the official original bitcoin-qt client. The transaction showed up immediately after I cashed out but it's showing 0 confirmations and it's been over an hour. Usually the first confirmation shows up in like 10 minutes. Also it's not showing up on blockchain.info at all and usually it'll at least show unconfirmed confirmations instantly but I'm getting absolutely nothing on my receiving address. Can someone please tell me WTF is going on? I've never had a transaction do this before.

+1 phantastisch Ich sehe den Sinn von LTC ehrlich gesagt nicht so wirklich. Das ist irgendwie, als würde ich das E-Mail Protokoll abändern, ohne wirklich etwas zu verbessern und dann erwarten, dass bald genauso viel Leute Litemail wie E-Mail benutzten. Zum Preisanstieg bleibt nur zu sagen, vor ca. 6-8 Wochen war der LTC noch auf fast 0.002 - 0.003 BTC und hat sich dann innerhalb weniger Minuten vervierfacht. Was darauf hindeutet, dass das von einer oder wenigen Personen gestartet wurde. Seit dem legt er immer mal wieder etwas zu. So was nennt man einen Pump & Dump. Dazu kommt noch, LTC wird Momentan mit der 8 Fachen Geschwindigkeit wie Bitcoin erstellt, da er noch kein Halfing hatte. Wenn jetzt nicht extremer wie bei BTC gehortet wird, muss er im Größenverhältnis das 8 Fache an Kapital anziehen um seinen Wert gegenüber dem BTC überhaupt zu halten. Ich habe selbst eine Handvoll LTC, man weiß ja nie. Aber JETZT nennenswerte Summen da rein zu stecken, halte ich echt für besch... |

Wohlgemerkt Hyper-deflation-, also warum soll ich mir heute etwas kaufen, das morgen weniger Wert sein wird und mir dann mehr davon kaufen könnte. (weil BTC steigen) So ganz falsch ist das nicht. Es könnte der Punkt komm an dem kaum noch jemand verkaufen will..... Das ist eine Frage des Preises. Das Problem kann lediglich sein, daß bei hohen Preisen keiner mehr kaufen will ("price stickiness"). Höre öfters mal Aussagen wie: "Bitcoin kann ich mir nicht leisten, zu teuer". Was natürlich quatsch ist, wiederum eine Frage der Menge. Ab einem Gewissen Punkt muss halt wirklich der Milli Bitcoin die Standardeinheit werden. Alles was es braucht ist, dass die Clients umgestellt werden, diesen standardmäßig anzuzeigen, generell sind die Einheiten ja jetzt schon implementiert. Viele würden anfangs zwar sagen, dass das trotzdem nur 1000tel BTC sind und nicht richtige, aber wir sprechen ja auch ganz normal von Dezibel wenn wir Geräusch Pegeln sprechen, obwohl wir eigentlich von 0,x Bel reden. Alles Sache der Gewohnheit. Mir persönlich kommen Bitcoin im Moment auch "zu teuer" vor, aber die haben die aktuellen Preise ja auch erst sehr kurz. Habe mich halt auch noch nicht dran gewöhnt. Das ist eine Frage des Preises. Das Problem kann lediglich sein, daß bei hohen Preisen keiner mehr kaufen will Es ist eine Frage des Preises auf beiden Seiten. Wenn ich meine, dass meine Bitcoin in einem Jahr auf 3.000 sind und muss jetzt nicht verkaufen, so verkaufe ich nicht. Denken viele so, könnte es Probleme geben. Sehe ich nicht als Problem. Bei MT.Gox wurden heute 9 Mil USD (?) in BTC umgesetzt. Wenn jetzt niemand BTC halten würde und alle BTC durch Gox gegangen wären, wäre der Preis bei ungefähr 1 USD/BTC. Wenn jetzt nur ein einziger BTC gehandelt werden würde bei 9 Mil. USD/BTC. Extrembeispiele und Zahlen stimmen nicht so ganz, aber darum gehts ja nicht. Ab einem gewissen Preis wird es immer jemanden geben, der sich von einigen seiner BTC trennt. Und da sie beliebig teilbar sind, ist es völlig egal wie viele oder wenige. |

This is just how a marked with no / very low entry barriers works. The point remains, that with ASIC you need special equipment to attack a chain, while with GPU / CPU you can do it with regular equipment. So I would consider "ASIC-Proof" a (very small) disadvantage. Other than that, in matters of security and energy efficiency, there are no differences to speak of.
