I will also like to try my skill this time to see what I can produce from my fruit to pick up the Pumpkin. once again thanks for bringing this, there are sometimes we need this kind of things. Carving Pumkin contest all the ways

Happy to have you!

Picked up my pumpkins today  Smiley

Contestant List

1) ChiBitCTy (I wont be in the running fyi, just participating)
2) KrispyKrypto

Now they are two very fine rounded specimens ChiBitCTy!

I picked up mine yesterday, I wasn't sure I would get one so I got a Red Kuri squash
and later walked into a Pumpkin which will be easier to carve.

Thank you for putting this together Chi. and that's a very generous haul of prizes.

Does that most recognized list update still to this day ?
Yeah those BPIP lists are updated constantly.

Anyone else have any suggestions for how to set up the vote ?
As @SFR10 said, you have to limit the voters in some way because if you go with a simple poll, someone will try to abuse it with bunch of brand new accounts. If there is any chance that something can be abused around here, it will be.

My suggestion is to make people vote by simply writing the name of the contestant they think it was the best, limit it to at least Full Member & above and eventually certain amount of merit earned.

IDK about limiting the voting to Full Member, there are some very active people in this
board who have not reached Full Member and probably don't care about ranking

What about a panel of 3 judges as an option? obviously those who are not taking part.

Yeah I’m just not sure yet how I’m going to handle the voting. I’m going to ask around a bit and welcome more ideas from the community.

Seems like a great idea OP. Just a word of warning, I am terrible at art but I will give this a go this week. I’ll go & get some pumpkins maybe Tuesday & submit my entry before the end of the week. In the unlikely event I win a prize, I will donate it to a charity of the OP’s choice or somebody struggling with the cost of living increases etc.

Trust me, I’m the least artistic person on this planet, so don’t worry!  Also that’s very generous of you to donate if you place.  I was trying to think of a way to incorporate charity in to this, but just could figure out how exactly. If you win, I will donate proceeds to the WWF/ World Wildlife Foundation

In other funny news, amazing the Bears have hung in like they have. Would be funny if they pulled this game off.

Its about time Mooney decided to make a catch!

Bears had a heck of a game despite the loss. That Mooney catch was ridiculous. Not sure I expect much of the same going forward.

Meanwhile still loosing my mind over a bad call on whom to start. I wish I didn’t care as much as I do lol
2123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 09, 2022, 07:33:53 PM
I  tried to watch today's game, I really did. Unbearable puntfest. Even beer didn't fix it. I give up.

Fn god awful. I watched it just because I had money on Denver. Of course they end up letting me down. Wilson just does not look the same with the Broncos. Maybe it’s going to take some time to get acclimated with his receivers and what not but I dunno. Their offensive line was absolutely atrocious as well.
Did you watch the whole game? You have my respects if you did so, just like @suchmoon I tried to improve my experience with some beer but I realized it was not going to be enough so I quit at halftime.

And about Wilson I think he simply gave up, I remember when he said he wanted to win 6 SBs, and while those were big words I did not mind as I looked forward to see him to try to accomplish his goal, but now it seems like he is like Rodgers, interested only in the money and whatever extra he can get while he can.

Sadly I did lol.

Man my team is way too good to go 1-4.  I made a huge mistake with one of my positions choices, and like the moron I am I decided to listed to “experts” and of course my gut feeling was more than right and would have likely won me the game. These “experts” are often anything but. Listening to my hit period going forward.

In other funny news, amazing the Bears have hung in like they have. Would be funny if they pulled this game off.

I posted this in collectibles since the prizes will be bitcoin collectibles  ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5416347.0 ) .  I'd like to get involvement of anyone on this forum, and I know a lot of members don't ever venture over to the collectibles board.  Is there anywhere else I could post this so more people see it?  I think it would be fun for the community as a whole.
Nice work! 🎃
It would be nice to create some kind of forum competition once every year, in similar way like we have Bitcointalk Pizza event.
People could buy pumpkins and make unique Bitcoin designs, heck we could even attract some sponsors and give rewards for best design works.
Competition would attract less submissions without bitcoin rewards, but I still think this would be interesting to have.
Let's start the Bitcoin Pumpkin Day  Wink

Thanks. That’s my hope, that we make this an annual thing!

Nice move to organized such entertaining contest. Let see some of the talented and skillful bitcoiners here. This will be a real fun in the forum. I will see who will be emerged as the winner of the contest. But since this has to do with a contest, it would have been better you move the thread to Service because when I came to the forum that is where I have been seen such threads. Like ROOBET also had such thread on ART CONTEST and users participated greatly, so if you go there people will still participate well, and most of the contestant threads are in SERVICE . Just a suggestion.

I would rather it remain in collectibles because that’s where I mostly participate, prizes are collectibles, etc.  If I could post it in both sections I would.

I actually have one casino who’s already reached out to me about contributing to the prizes (currently vetting them before agreeing to it).  But that is a great idea.

I don’t want to bug theymos/Cyrus/hilarious and any other mods w/a PM, so I’ll leave it up to them to see this thread and let them decide.

I saw you posted it on the Bitcointalk Discord server. Cyrus Saw your message and responded as well. As he is not promised to pin it anywhere, we are not sure if he is going to do that or not. But, It's worth getting highlighted in the news section for at least a week or so. Let's see if he considers it or not. In the meantime, I believe many people visit the Meta board and will see this thread. If they see the discussion, it is also helping you spread the announcement over the forum.

Yeah Cyrus said he had a few ideas to help potentially spread the word. So we will see what they come up with!

I also posted this on r/bitcoin, hoping some Reddit users jump in. Plus I thought this might be a good way to get new members to sign up for a forum account.

If anyone wants to share this on Reddit /twitter/instagram/Facebook etc, I’d appreciate it!
2125  Other / Meta / Re: @Mods - Bitcoin Pumpkin carving contest on: October 08, 2022, 05:42:11 PM
Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

I know this is not big as the Bitcoin Pizza Baking contest Or Unofficial Bitcointalk Awards. But, Since those contests were promoted in the News Section, I wouldn't mind if theymos or Cyrus considered adding this contest to the news section. The deadline is decent. Still, 22+ days remaining. You can send a DM to theymos or Cyrus regarding this. If they are not interested, I would say the games and Rounds section is compatible with this contest. I am also confused. LOL. I also saw contests on Games and Round, Service, and Meta board.

That’s what I was kind of hoping, that maybe Theymos/Cyrus/Hilarious might be willing to stick it in the news section, at least for a day or two.  It’s certainly not as big as the pizza contest but I still think it’s fun and a cool way to bring the community together during Halloween time. It’s free and I’m giving away a few hundred dollars worth of collectible items. I think a good amount of people who don’t visit Mets or Collectibles would be interested, I just don’t know how to spread the message to the forum as a whole.

I don’t want to bug theymos/Cyrus/hilarious and any other mods w/a PM, so I’ll leave it up to them to see this thread and let them decide.
2126  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] Bitcointalk Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest on: October 08, 2022, 05:26:55 PM
Nice! Finally we have an official thread. I hope this will be spread out to everyone in the forum. The more, the merrier right?
If my carving skill sucks, I believe I can try some digital drawing.
@ChiBitCty, is that a valid entry though?

Anyone who wants to be eligible to win the prizes must include an actual pumpkin/gourd. Trust me, mine will be terrible, so don’t worry, have fun with it!

I don't plan to join the contest, but it'd be exciting to see how other participant carve their pumpkin.

Prizes: 1st place receives everything shown below (plus more items to come, this is all I could get to easily today).

--snip--

It'd be appreciated to mention security risks of using this hardware wallet. Personally i'd either use it as decoration or dissemble/terardown it for short review.

I was going to let the winner know,  obviously I wrote the thread about it - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5414795.msg61002881#msg61002881. Many of us collectors collect everything from legit stuff to scams to wallets w/security risks. I would have never given this to the winner without letting them know about this (ie sending them my thread).

How will the winner be picked?: There will be a poll ran from Oct 31st to Nov 3rd.  I'm not 100% sure how I will run it, but will try and get some feedback from the community on how to most fairly do so.  Please chime in if you have any ideas!
IMO, the only way to have somewhat fair results [without exposing our "true" identities] is through limiting the ones who can vote to certain groups of users [e.g. with the help of "BPIP", you can go with the top 100 in most active, trusted or recognized].

I might also join Smiley

Hmmm. This is an interesting idea and thanks for sharing it, trying to figure out what’s best voting wise. Does that most recognized list update still to this day ?

Btw, you should definitely join!

Anyone else have any suggestions for how to set up the vote ?

2128  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org collectible coin ideas & vote on: October 07, 2022, 10:53:02 PM
If there's no official plans or other substantial community effort I'll likely revisit the idea, and determine how viable it is closer to the time. I think I'd be more interested in doing something like this for the 20th anniversary as opposed to the 15th though. No other reason than I think it's more significant, due to it being the second decade. Hence why I would've liked to seen something like it for the 10th anniversary.

I definitely wouldn't leave it so late, and I'd probably get the communities input once again well in advance. It would be properly planned, and thought out if I were to pick it up in the future.

All I can say for now, is hopefully Tongue. However, it's a little bit too soon at the moment.

I hope we can make this come to life before the 20th anniversary.  I've got a lot of ideas and can certainly help out in any way needed.  Not sure if Casascius or Kialara would be interested.  I'm actually chatting w/Kialara right now, so I will send him this thread to see what he thinks.

VOTING IS NOW LIVE- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5419254.0

Contest # 2 Voting- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5419367.0

Welcome to the first annual Bitcointalk bitcoin pumpkin carving contest!

(courtesy of xSlyy)

Based on the feedback I received here, it seems we've got enough interest to make this fun! ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5415632.0 )

Rules - The only rule is that your creation has to include some sort of pumpkin, gourd, squash or something of that ilk.  If you want to incorporate 3D printed stuff, NFT's, coins, whatever, all the better!  There will only be one entry per person (but this can include a bulk of items together (i.e. a 3 pumpkin set with a drawing next to it, for example).

All entries must be accompanied by proof of work, which means you must include something like your username and the date on a piece of paper next to your entry.

No AI programs for contest #2

Have fun with this! I know if you have kids this is something I'm sure they'd enjoy doing with you, as well as getting to eat the salted & baked pumpkin seeds at the end (yum!).  Please also share this with others outside of the collectibles board.  Everyone is welcome to compete!

Contest Start Date: Right Now

Contest End Date: Halloween Day, October 31st

How will the winner be picked?: There will be a poll ran from Oct 31st to Nov 3rd.  I'm not 100% sure how I will run it, but will try and get some feedback from the community on how to most fairly do so.  Please chime in if you have any ideas!

Prizes: 1st place receives everything shown below (plus more items to come, this is all I could get to easily today).  If there are enough entrants, I will include a 2nd place and maybe even a 3rd place prize as well.

Satori chip funded with .001BTC

Which Wich Coins contain actual BTC value which can be used to purchase food at these sandwich shops. It’s value and information can be found here - https://www.whichwich.com/cryptobox/

The silver plated coins are Alpen DIY Coins (holograms will be included)
The poker chips are MoparMining DIY chips (holograms will be included)

There have been known security issues with these wallets. This is simply a collectible or something to be used as a test wallet of some sort.

—Contest #2 —

Due to many people not living somewhere where pumpkins are available, I’ve decided to create a second contest where the rules are to simply to create something Halloween/pumpkin bitcoin themed. This can be a 3D printed piece, a painting, digit art, NFT, painted pumpkin etc. Be creative! BUT, no AI generated stuff. You can submit such photos, but you will not be eligible for prizes.

Prizes: * Lealana donated a .01 Buyer Funded coin/wallet (as seen below) for this contest.

          *  .001 bitcoin to a wallet of your choosing.

2132  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Stacks Bowers Again - Summer auction on: October 07, 2022, 04:17:21 PM
Seeing Alpen Coin and Microsoul there is pretty cool

This may not be so good...  It states the Microsouls are "loaded".  But no one knows this for sure, right.  Can anyone chime in who knows if it was just a certain year(s) of Microsouls that may or may not be funded (with that whole issue he had), or is it all of them that we just don't know for sure if funds will be there or not?

The last thing we need at an auction house is a coin that says it's funded but isn't, a fake, or some coin's keys can't be seen since they wore down or whatever..

As far as I understand, there were 2 issues with Microsoul coins:
1. Some coins were apparently not funded by accident, which can happen.
2. Some coins were funded, but the private key was printed in such a way that it was incomplemete/unreadable/incorrect
Recognizing these issues, Microsoul effectively "recalled" coins in late 2017, asking people to peel the coins and offering DIY sticker replacements, and promising refunds for any "missing" BTC within a certain time window.

My understanding is that these issues were mainly present with the later Microsoul coins, and with some 0.05 BTC's - though the risk remains for 2013 0.01's.
That said, the Microsoul coins o S&B are confirmed loaded as per the public key, which means that 0.01 BTC was placed into the corresponding address and remains there. Whether or not the private key is readable cannot be confirmed without peeling, but the balance of probabilities suggests that they are redeemable. That said, if we had a way of knowing which coins were un-redeemable "errors", I  suspect that their collector value would be much higher. In practice it is unlikely we will ever know, as there is almost no reason to peel a Microsoul anymore as the Numismatic value is many times more than the funded value, and the "errors" are likely a very small percentage of what's out there.

Not peeling because of its numismatic value should have nothing to do with it. In my opinion by not letting people know the issue, or potential issues that lies within Microsoul coins is wrong. You’re leaving out material information that’s important to know when purchasing these coins. Maybe bitcoin shoots to a million bucks one day, the peel value of the coins will be pretty high. You never know. Plus maybe the person who buys it will simply need the money at some point regardless of how little the redeemable value is. Regardless, this should not be considered in to the equation.

So selling coins while omitting these material facts I believe to be wrong and somewhat fraudulent.  The last thing we need is someone buying one, a coin not being redeemable even though it says it was in the listing, then they complain to Stacks about it.  I could easily see them then say that they don’t want to have to deal with this situation ever again and no longer will offer them. This link with the information about the potential issues with the coin should be included in the sale ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3315347.0 ).   Something like this is all it could take to ruin things for everyone going forward.

IMO MinerJones should be doing the authentication for Stacks. A true expert.

The kind of pumpkin we have here in PH.

I have not tried carving before, but I would love to try it this time and would also like to participate. I can draw both traditional and digital, so this competition kinda challenged my artistry lol.

Yeah these would definitely work. I want people to get creative. The only rule is that there has to be a pumpkin or gourd of some type included. What you want to do in conjunction with that is up to you. 3D printed stuff, NFTs, etc etc.

I will set up the announcement thread tomorrow. Again I will have some cool prizes! Hopefully more people will be interested in jump in!

Alright guys I don’t think this is getting anywhere. The problem lies with Tim. Mopar is a buddy of mine and he’s no accomplice to Titan, I can promise you that. I think he’s just partially playing devils advocate. I think you should both remove your negative trusts and if you want to continue chatting do so privately maybe. Again this just seems to keep going around and around in circles. Its convoluted as all heck right now. Just think it would be best for everyone.

Again, Tim is the problem here.
2136  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Education seems to have failed in some developing country on: October 06, 2022, 10:34:31 PM
I think education has failed a lot of people in different countries.  I know here in the United States we have a decent grade school/high school (pre-college) overall "rating" if you want to call it that.  But I know there's certainly other countries who do a better job of teach youth.

The one thing that the United States does have the best of is colleges.  This is really where I got my education and without the degree I earned, I wouldn't have been able to work in the field I'm in.
2137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why reveal my identity to get bitcoins ? on: October 06, 2022, 10:29:40 PM
Unfortunately that's just the way things are going to go from now on out.  If you want to cash out of bitcoin and exchange it for your fiat currency, there's just no way around it.

Despite what many think or argue against, this is actually a good thing.  Some level of oversight is needed with bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.  If we didn't have KYC stuff, the government wouldn't take very kindly to bitcoin.
2138  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Boxing] Le'Veon Bell vs Uriah Hall - October 29th on: October 06, 2022, 09:52:37 PM
I don't know about you guys but I'm loving seeing these ex-pro athletes starting to get in to boxing. I think it's really helped revitalize the sport in a big way.  For those of you who don't know who Le'Veon Bell is an ex-NFL running back (a very good one too).  He recently just knocked out one of the best running backs of all time Adrian Peterson which you can see here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3Ip1_ItIv4

Excited for this fight. What do you all think??

"A unique football-versus-MMA matchup has been added to the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva undercard.
Former NFL All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell will face ex-UFC fighter Uriah Hall in a pro boxing match Oct. 29 in Glendale, Arizona.
The four-round contest has been contracted at 195 pounds and neither man can be above 200 pounds on weigh-in day, per officials. Bell and Hall, who are making their professional boxing debuts, will wear 10-ounce gloves. The card is being promoted by Paul's Most Valuable Promotions and distributed by Showtime pay-per-view". https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/34739492/leveon-bell-fight-ex-ufc-fighter-uriah-hall-oct-29

Well shit Cordarrelle off to IR, good thing Melvin should get a bigger workload now (of course he will fumble it all away). Cheesy

Might Get Keenan Allen and Butkner back this week, that would be nice.

Cordarrelle was grossly undervalued heading in to drafts this year. Not sure why.  He's the closest thing there is to Deebo Samuel, sucks he went to the IR, he's a lot of fun to watch.  I think it's just the 4 game IR right?

I've got Butkner in another league, hoping he comes back.  I've had a terrible go at it when it comes to Kickers this year.  Hopefully Greg Joseph and the vikings can get their shit together going forward.

Yeah I targeted Patterson and Gordon and Hurts as way underrated adp and a few others that didnt pay off as well.

Lots of my targets are on IR. Cheesy

I lost on another team by 1 point because Kittle...

I want to shoot Garapolo for not targeting him more. Cheesy

Jimmy G will drive ya nuts lol. Been there before believe me.

**Wanting to trade for RB**

I am absolutely stacked at WR. I could use an upgrade to my second RB.  Though I really like all my RBs and they have a ton of upside potential, I’m looking to move one of my WRs and RBs to someone who’s got an extra RB they’d be willing to trade that would be a slight upgrade to any of my RBs (outside Harris of course).  Someone like Aaron Jones for example is the type of back Im looking for.

Anyone interested please let me know

uhsra

Are you still looking for a running back? Raheem Mostert is presently available in the waiver wire hehehe. He is not very consistent, however, his weekly projections appear to be good enough if you use him as a back up for your team. I would add him if I did not have Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson already hehe.

I am still looking to upgrade at RB, but I don't see Mostert as being an upgrade for any of my running backs, but I appreciate you looking out for me!

There's gotta be a taker somewhere, pair something like London and Penny or combo like that for a decently better RB.  This way your team gets a stud WR and a very solid RB.  Just keep me in mind if anyone has a need like this pop up please and thanks!

Man the Rams really showed their true colors last night.  They are just not the same team as last year.  Stafford is clearly not himself.  I think that shoulder injury that was bothering him in the pre-season is a more serious deal than they had been or are letting on.

I would not trade Penny if I had him. He will be very useful as a RB3 if one of your starting running backs is in the IR list. This is according to some fantasy players in social media hehehe.

Are you not disappointed with Najee Harris? I had him last year and he is not the same player. But it might be an attractive trade if you pair him and London for a better running back hehe.

It might be Stafford's shoulder or much of the opinions everyone made on him when he was playing for the Lions might be true? His true colors are showing?

I like Penny, Dobbins, Pierce, Herbert and Harris a lot.  I think Dobbins and Pierce are going to have huge years.  Harris still has been solid and I expect a solid year from him, and I think Penny will mostly have a good year, but yes I'd like to do something like pair one of those guy plus someone like London or Godwin for a top tier RB.  I mean if you need a WR and can afford a slight downgrade at one of your RB spots (or potentially think one of these backs is going to be better than the back you trade) and get say Najee Harris and Chris Godwin for someone like say Mixon, that's a pretty freakin solid deal.  I don't ever try to win trades, I try and make trades that helps both teams out.

My team is way too good to be 1-3 lol.  So, I need to make some changes.

Hey, I just noticed all the 1-2 teams are playing 2-1 Teams this week!

Would be cool if it was all tied up at the end of the week! Cheesy

No, thank you.  Kiss

@ChiBitCTy, sorry bro, I'm looking at your bench an thanking my lucky stars.  Rashaad Penny, holy shit!  Anyway, my QB is making my DST suck fumunda cheese, thwarting my meagre effort to beat you.  What a shitty week for points, my whole team is sucking.  I need help at every position.

Speaking of Penny, who took the over on Seahawks @ Detroit?  Roll Eyes

Lol man, my bench absolutely went off.  The 3 running backs I of course didn't start had huge games.

"never funded" Titan btc for sale. Very interesting...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5415095.0

Again hasnt it been explained why some were never funded? Because original buyer never confirmed receipt? Or claimed it was lost in the mail or w/e and got another coin?

All the current bullshit about the site being down aside - basically then you are now claiming you bought one of those coins?

I see that as your fault not Titans - M1 is no part of Titan - he’s simply calling your bullshit well um bullshit because that is what it is.

I also see that around the same time as all your drama occurred that you were also actively seeking and purchasing non funded coins - is it possible you got one of the non funded coins mixed up with a funded one?

I have confirmed that there were cases where 2FA coins received by customers, emailed Tim to let him know it’s been received, paid the bitcoin to fund the coin, and he never did.
