We wouldn't have spent so many hard hours on PODC if we knew we were retiring it.  It felt like the way to go when we were creating it, but maybe its better that Gridcoin takes this part of the market.

No sense in bashing each other over this - lets all calm down and try to get along.

The bottom line is, let's face it, we had an original vision that any old PC could mine BiblePay right on the CPU with the original POBH algorithm.  The only thing that stopped us was the botnets copied our software out to hundreds of PCs and we didn't like our standard users getting hurt like that.  With POG, we go back to that original vision.  So please dont be upset, just switch to POG.  The idea is thousands of commodity PCs and users can participate without any mining knowledge, its great!

Thanks for posting this, I have been confused by all of the POG talk.  Honestly though this, coin gets more and more confusing.  I know that's a common complaint but I read both of these wiki pages and it makes little sense.  If this requires a centralized pool whats the point of it even being a crypto currency?  I think the developer(s) are honestly chasing their tail.  There isn't a single coin out there that "whales" haven't exploited.  And I hesitant to even use the word exploit, since they are just following the rules.  The fact of life is that those with more resources have the ability to earn more.

The coin is getting simpler and simpler to understand.
The coin is getting more decentralized.
POG is 100% decentralized and requires no web pools.
The devs are straightening things out (in response to challenges).
POG is easy to understand and simple enough for a baby to understand, and simplifies our infrastructure.
We're not saying a whale wont make more than a small user, but what we are saying that is novel is this:  A botnet is not going to exploit POG, that is the main consideration.  If your a big time investor then you will get more rewards with POG, yes.  The main feature that POG solves what Vertcoin experienced (being overrun by botnet exploits).

Sometimes the complaints that surface on this thread are from people who made assumptions.

The thing to realize is we need simplicity first in order to write good documents (not the other way around).

PODC is being removed because its attracting scientists instead of Christians...

And atheists.

Feels like a Ponzi Scheme. Whatever it is it sure is not honest allowing new people to join for PoDC knowing full well you're going to pull the rug out from under them.

@SunK, please do not make posts here that violate the rules in the OP post.  You have posted with swear words and directly attacked me in an unwarranted way - that breaks more than one of the rules.  (Otherwise I will start the ban process with the bitcointalk mods) - you are now considered a Troll - along with SVK Noko.

SVK you have not broken the rules but I warn you that this forum is provided to help others, so please take that into consideration on your future posts.

Were not here for infighting - we are here to help others.

This project is not on a low level in comparison with others btw - you appear to be unable to understand the value in the roadmap.  The roadmap is on par with a top 9 coin.  Once we have IPFS Christian videos, community voting, the Subway gift card integration, BiblePay Evolution, RSA collaboration, POG and the first integrated pool, in-wallet chat, a Christian Economy microstructure we are talking Top 9 coin - ahead of the other 1990 communities.  I think you are sadly mistaken.  This is on top of the deflationary orphan environment which is our cornerstone.  Wake Up.  There is no reason any of this that I said above will fail.  All these things look bright and are technically possible (we're already testing the simplified versions of each feature now in alpha).

Thats right. POG concept is the last which can safe your reputation and bbp in general :-) because till know the picture is not good. After 1.5 year pools not working very well (according to previous comments from users), podc very hard to start for new users (most of users called for simplicity), letter writing not functional very well (everyone who tried adopt a child and tried to write letters knows what im talking about), pool webpage from the beginning no comment, you have attacked almost everybody on the chat here, exchanges listing very unsuccesfull...

So yes. POG is the last try. Good luck with that. And try to change yourself :-) btw pog was refused by users but because this coin is centralised pog will be implemented nevertheless.

Its not the last try- PODC is being removed because its attracting scientists instead of Christians, and is hard to set up, and yes, we could solve that if we wanted to (but if you read my prior sentence - its going away because of what Im writing here, not what you believe).

We are decentralized - Im a small part of the Sanctuary vote now - and nothing is being done unilaterally - you will see the Prod vote in the pool any day now - so quit spreading FUD, your wrong about that too.  People who are part of BiblePay know that we are fully democratic- they saw my percentage shrink each month.  Its a free market, no one person is a supermajority here.

Yes, I saw how you wrote to our children, bullying them and demanding they write you back sooner.  LOL, thats a good way to talk to a child.

Anyway, I have the perseverance we need to make this successful, because God is behind me.  We're not failing even if POG fails in your eyes.  We will keep getting up and fighting.  For Pog3, pog4, and pog5.

Thanks for your very weak support and your warped view that things don't work, but you know the pool uptime has been 99%, and pool payments are 99%+ accurate, and the standard orphan writing works (why do we send over 30 letters per month on average) does any other coin allow you to see scanned orphan letters inbound? NO, your warped mind can't imagine how successful we will be, but sit back in your new community and watch us rocket up the ranks.

I might be delayed or wrong by one year about where we should be now, but even if its Christmas of 2020 we are eventually going to achieve it, and I will be right even if Im a year or two late!

Regardless, I challenge any of you who steal electricity from your employers to mine BiblePay, start your own crypto and see if you can get as far we did.

2145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% Charity | POW/PODC | CPU/Cancer Mining | Sanctuaries on: January 19, 2019, 04:49:26 PM

grcpool just merge mines BiblePay, sells it, and they call it a day. they had a poll and the GRC community wanted BBP sold and not staked. So, not enough community backing to stake BBP. I don't know if anyone at BiblePay team bothered to talk to grcpool operator. Overall, I think removing team requirement backfired and BiblePay's marketing point about "cancer research" lost a lot of steam.  The sell pressure from grcpool means charities will support fewer children because the price of BBP is so low. BiblePay will keep dropping until it matches GRC price in terms of payout per RAC.

So, I really hope and pray. If it is God's desire that Proof of Giving (PoG) succeed, let it be so.

That is some important insight, thank you. Considering that it seems it would be better to switch to POG sooner than later (although I have no idea yet what POG is or how it works^^).

@Rob: just tried again and an "instant send" deposit to the pool arrived after the 6 confirmations (as shown in the wallet), which took about 5 minutes. So it's definitely a significant difference to a withdrawal, which happens on the instant.

Thank you Dave.

POG is very, very close to being ready for the mandatory - I'll update in more detail today.

The design of the pool site is fine. I really like the logo graphic.

What could use some help is the navigation.  The first element, About, goes to a sub-menu called About. Same repetition with Home navigation. There's no point in having sub-menus if there's only one item? I see it a lot when it's thought, "let's just put up the structure, and we can add content later." The problem is, the content is always slow to come, and it makes the site look hokey until then.

I'm not a fan that the site's pages appear to require authentication, while my browser is saying, "don't do it, that's not a SSL page".

Myself, and maybe others, are hesitant to speak up due to the flammable nature of some posts. It feels like a merry-go-round, that I wait to slow down so I can get on. But it doesn't seem to slow (the rate of change).

Thank you for the constructive criticism.  This is a much nicer way to convey the message, and will result in a positive improvement for BiblePay.

May I ask you to do a favor for us, could you please create an issue here:
https://github.com/biblepay/BiblePayPool/issues

And paste the contents in, but let please clarify some parts of the request.

Our data driven menu *does* have the capability to redirect the user to the correct page if no submenu exists- please paste an example in your issue request of one that you would like to see to become a single redirect (with no submenu).

Next, paste an example of any page we have with an SSL error (I'm not aware of this problem).

As far as the 'slow response time' also, just please paste in one specific example of a slow response time after you click on X- what I like to do when I work a ticket is see this:

Clicking X from section name Y in Page U in HTTPS mode of Site Z response slowly (5 seconds to respond); why would this be slow...  Then we have something solid to work.

Thanks a lot.

Good one, I think I will put this on the wall.

Its easy to see that the naysayers break every one.  I can think of a way to put in criticism with my hands tied behind my back that wouldnt insult someone.  Its obvious the derelicts are doing this on purpose to get under our skin.  I'm not rewarding the "troll" any longer for bad behavior.  Time to swim, trolls.

this is screen about this/your coin...... after 1.5 years POW doesnt working  Grin Grin Grin  i tried join 2 machines on pure and your pool..... effect 0 points,no mining, all is setup is same like on my VPS on your pool.VPS mining POW correctly

I just wonder you still mining this coin after all :-) We have left already few days/weeks ago.

Purely out of curiosity - if you have left and continue to bash the pools design (and on a side note I dont give your critique any credibility btw, as you constantly use dirty words and your approach is vulgar), but why are you sticking around?  Just to bash us and lower our spirits?  Obviously you and Sun are doing the same thing - its not to help the community but to hurt the community - which hurts our investors and our orphans in the long run.  I give Slovakia a lot more credibility, because he comes across as a crude character - he has not learned to be a refined person yet, thats fine, we can work with him.

Why would we (the devs) take your criticism or Suns seriously after this type of comment?

Please, I want to clarify to everyone else as the Snat asked me to do this a month ago - I want to let everyone else know I do individually love you and have the capacity for loving you.  I want you to know these individual criticisms are in Defense for their bad choice of attacking a Christian altruistic movement.  So everyone else, please do not take this personally and please continue to send us your bonafide constructive criticisms- things that we really need to do.  And please start volunteering for work, devs.   We need opensource blockchain developers to volunteer to help make this community better.

Togo, I will provide an update on the status of Testnet within 24 hours, I am trying to gather one piece of info we need first.

Whatever Rob. Do you ever take things the right way?

It's true though. Pool site is ugly but it works. Let's take a poll and see how many agree with me. Rob stop being a big baby. Take it like a man.

Sun, why don't you go ahead and write a new pool, and see if you can address all of the issues from yourself, then all of our problems will be solved!

In the mean time, I am blocking you so I can focus on administration.

I tested the pool deposit with 3 small transactions (2 instant send, 1 normal send). It actually took quite a while for them to arrive, but now they show in my transaction history on the pool, so I think it worked.
I just never saw them as "pending" in the deposit menu, but to be honest I stopped checking after 5 minutes or so and just checked now (after more than an hour). Wink

Thanks - on the first day I had it not deployed as a service yet since I didnt realize it wasnt fully live, but now its a service.

Can you please try again when you get a chance and you should see the deposits in what you would expect to be real time (IE wait a block then look, then wait the remaining 3 blocks and look for your balance).

95761

In the pool.biblepay.org for block 95761 it looks like only five ppl got rewarded (Fixer, Ponfarriac, Anonymous, sg316, Jan-Kees)? How should we interpret the pool data? I'm thinking it'd make sense for block 95760 because it only took a 59 seconds to solve that block? If block 95761 took 45 minutes to mine, then I'd think more miners would have been included in the payout.

I'm sure there's a simple explanation. Can you illuminate? I don't want there to be a misconception that the pool is not paying miners correctly.

There is not a misconception about paying miners incorrectly - as was shown when I released the pool poll that users in general trust what we have created.

I think Dave_BBP can explain the payout to you.

I think I pressed enter on the deposit address field to show the pending message. The pool site is stuck in the early 90s with frames and all. Ultimately, I rather it work and be ugly, than pretty and not work...

.

I take it, if we use deposit, we should turn off auto withdrawl? Do the two conflict in any way? Meaning, you have BBP in your account, so if the deposit is greater than the auto withdraw minimum... the pool will auto withdraw?

When you say: Pool site stuck in the 90s with frames, which pool are you referring to?  And if it's pool.biblepay, what would make you say "work and be ugly"- as compared to what, another one of our pools not working, or...  I really don't understand even the spirit of the post - its alluding to something like our pool hasn't worked before.  It hasn't worked for you once in 2018 and your conclusion is it didnt work?  But in reality it has always worked and has always been resolved.  Have we ever cheated one bbp from anyone?  No, we havent.

I disagree with the mean-spirited nature of most of your posts, and the content, and the conclusions, and the meaning, and the answers.

If you are truly trying to become more Christian, wouldn't you want to spread love instead of hate?

EDIT:  Are you referring to our twitter Iframe?  If so do you know the Iframe is still an important part of html5 programming?  Without it webdevs have to resort to hacks?  Do you know we use insitu ajax async callbacks on every page of the pool and support an integrated c# application (in contrast to redirect posts of the 90s), a technology was not available until after 2010?  Meaning its the most *modern* technology.  It is running is VSS2017 as well.  (Meaning you are sorely wrong).

Recently I started working on a side project with a goal in mind to allow BiblePay to be spendable as a Utility.  I started working with Walmart to see if they will allow us to integrate their API so Pool users can buy certain things (like $20 gift cards) with free shipping.  I'm also attempting to work with another third party API that allows us to buy Subway (Sandwich Shop) gift cards with no delivery fees and no markups.  Whoever comes through first should technically allow us to create a pilot program in the pool for this project.

In part of this project we needed to allow users to make a BBP deposit (into the pool).  Therefore I have exposed the Deposit menu button.

Please, realize this is in Alpha, so don't send a lot, maybe keep it below 100 bbp for now until we know we have a 100% successful alpha test.

Could we please have 10 or so users make some deposits to the pool over the next 24 hours, and just keep track of the process and verify your balance has increased correctly and none are lost?

Just click Account | Deposit to test this feature.

Thanks!

EDIT:  Once there is more than 1 confirm, you should be able to go back to the Deposit page and see the Pending deposit amount.

How should I remove this spam from my email?? I removed already orphan child from my account cause the system for writing letters doesnt work properly. How can I unsubscribe, cancel this everydays email? Thanks.
I removed her once again from my account, maybe it will help, maybe.

Dear tomassekeres,

The BiblePay Adoption System is notifying you that you have not written to Rowena Paladar in over 30 day(s).
Please consider writing to your child today.

After 60 days, BiblePay will be forced to abandon the childs relationship from your account which could be dissapointing for a child.

Thank you for using BiblePay.

Best Regards,
BiblePay Support

Let me check into this...

Since we have biblepaycore letter writing going in testnet now, I disabled the adoption systems e-mail warning.

This will be deployed today.

We could use a few letters to be written this month, please (last month we sent a ton, this month we have a sparse participation level).

Also please see the letters coming in from Cameroon, they still write on large tablets out there- I think its awesome.

Quick question about the pool: I tried to withdraw some BBP from there, chose the amount, clicked "send" and received the usual e-mail.
However, when I click on the link in there, I always get redirected to a page with a single sentence: "Please wait until January 1, 2021 before withdrawing more than 1001 BBP."
Since when is this restriction enabled? What is the purpose of it? Why is this not stated as soon as you want to withdraw it from the pool?

It would be nice if you could either remove this restriction OR increase the percentage of the auto-withdraw. Because right now my coins keep piling up on the pool and it is really tedious to pull them off there in 1k batches. Wink

Hi Dave,

I'm committed to making it work properly.

For higher security however, I do feel we should work on auto-withdraws first.  Do you have that feature enabled?

I will work with you to ensure it either works or figure out what error it failed with.

The raising of the withdrawal limit is secondary - I confirm, this limit was added recently due to what appeared to be someone making a hacking attempt.

Looking at the logs, auto withdrawals have been working on pool.biblepay.org and they went out today, and most people are using them.

Dave, you might have to populate your receive address and click Enable Auto Withdrawals.  They go out every morning at 9AM CST.

Hi Rob,

yes thank you, auto-withdrawal works fine for me and has done so for the last couple of months. But I used to manually withdraw coins additionally, because the auto-withdrawal is set to too little coins (or a too low percentage), meaning without manual withdrawals the coins keep piling up on the pool.
I think the most simple way would be to increase the amount of coins for the auto-w. for balances of - let's say - over 1000 BBP. That would be perfect. Wink

Btw, I read what you mentioned about the flow (where we should throw the error at the point of withdraw, not later when they click verify e-mail) and I agree, we will fix that tonight.

On the limits, let me see what I can do.  Maybe I will make an exception for people we trust, and approve people like you and Slovakia with a higher limit.

Let me take a look at it.
