2141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Shapeshift alternative on: November 30, 2017, 02:49:27 PM
According to coinmarketcap:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/sonm/#markets

Binance or Liqui might be your best bets (they both list SONM and seem to have quite a bit of liquidity)
2142  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bittrex announces minimum trade size raise and other info on: November 30, 2017, 02:30:17 PM
There's no point short trading alts here then. Anyone know a better alternative than Trex other than Polo?
I've been eyeing HitBTC but I don't know if others have had problems with them. At first glance they look decent enough.

Hitbtc tend to have most of their wallets disabled, which is frustrating.

I think a better solution is to migrate to one of the decentralised exchanges like Openledger:

2143  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what is the right time to cash out? on: November 30, 2017, 01:57:30 PM
My cashout indicator is Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan.

In September he was saying that bitcoin was a bubble. But it now looks like JP Morgan will be offering the CME bitcoin futures to their clients. If they actually go ahead and do it, that's a sell indicator - when the last bear capitulates, the bull market is about to turn.
2144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best AltCoints to buy in the Blood Bath of the BTC correction on: November 30, 2017, 01:19:02 PM
There are so many coins out there, it's hard to work out what is best.

Sometimes I wonder if the right strategy is to look at all the coins listed on Poloniex, and set buy orders at their lows. and buy the lot. It seems to me that almost every single coin gets pumped at some point, so the key is buying at a good price and just waiting.
2145  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash or Correction on: November 30, 2017, 12:48:56 PM
A crash is a drop of about 30% or more. That would take bitcoin to about $7700. The price is around $9700 right now - so it's a correction, and it's consolidating between $9000 and $10,000. Which is fine. It went up just too fast.
2146  Economy / Speculation / Re: 'Bitcoin has gone parabolic,' and that usually doesn't end well, Art Cashin warn on: November 29, 2017, 12:19:40 PM
It doesn't hurt to take profits from time to time. Keep the bulk of your holdings, sell a little along the way and you are good regardless what happens.

I remember the dotcom boom very well - and there was this fund manager who was adamant that the whole thing was a gigantic bubble, So he started moving out of the tech sector in 1998. But of course the market continued to climb and because he had no tech in his fund, it was underperforming the market. He then got sacked in 2000. And just after that, the market turned into a bear and fell.

So the point where people start believing it can NEVER go down is the top.
2147  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next BTC Crash? When? on: November 28, 2017, 03:19:02 PM
It will crash when the last bear has given up. We're a long way from that. Today Bloomberg had an article about shorting bitcoin:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-27/calling-a-bitcoin-top-here-s-how-you-can-short-the-digital-coin

That's a contrarian indicator, it means bitcoin has further to go. When Bloomberg thinks it is going to teh moon is when we get a crash.
2148  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the bitcoin price doesn't stop rising? on: November 28, 2017, 01:18:08 PM
Bitcoin has outperformed every single asset class this year - and as a result the clients of the big investment banks are saying to them. "why didn't you advise me to get into this in January". So the bankers and hedge funds are feeling foolish and they're buying in, "just in case".
2149  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin cause worldwide economic collapse in the future? on: November 28, 2017, 01:08:12 PM
As long as governments receive their taxes, they are fine. If businesses start accepting bitcoin, all that will happen is that governments will start receiving their taxes in bitcoin, and carry on.

Bitcoin won't cause a world wide collapse, but it might save people from a world wide collapse.
2150  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why BTC value is growing day by day ? on: November 27, 2017, 04:35:47 PM
The hedge funds are plowing in, in preparation for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange listing bitcoin futures on December 11th (the estimated date of launch).

To be a true hedge fund you need to be long as well as short, so owning the underlying asset (bitcoin) allows them to then short on the CME. Having a lot of coins also means they can manipulate the price a bit. For example say they have gone short on the CME and want to force the bitcoin price down towards settlement time - easy, just sell the actual bitcoins you have bought.

Prepare for a very wild ride when the futures are launched.
2151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex Support: Withdrawal Issue (Complete: Error) on: November 27, 2017, 04:14:55 PM
According to twitter quite a few people are having the "complete error" message.

https://twitter.com/search?q=%23poloniex&lang=en

Sounds like something is broken on Poloniex. The problems seem to be with bitshares, EM2 and ripple.
2152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: November 27, 2017, 01:44:05 PM
I'm not satisfied with the Zec community building
Community construction ETH do a good job

What do you believe is wrong with Zcash's community?
2153  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bittrex announces minimum trade size raise and other info on: November 27, 2017, 01:23:22 PM
I laugh everytime I see bittrex announces about new features , they are busy making their site better and that's why they are ignoring thousands of tickets for people that want their money back
none of their changes at the moment make sense , there are many things to work on rather than that
also I don't know how these changes are supposed to be good !!

Exactly, they've become such a shithole right now that i was a previous fan of theirs compared to poloniex and even i would not dare to use them with anything over 0.1 BTC. Just way too much to risk, i'd actually use poloniex right now.

They are very very unclear about the account limits and why some people get downgraded from previously verified accounts and get asked to verify again.

These new changes have not helped a single bit either.

The issue with Bittrex is that they are making changes retrospectively. They're actually amending old terms and condition pages but not changing the date (to pretend that these conditions have been in place since 2016). That is very very shady. Am glad I got my coins out last month - it was obvious something bad was going down.
2154  Economy / Speculation / Re: As we approach $10k, a correction/crash is coming. on: November 27, 2017, 12:40:28 PM
I disagree. I think this bull run has a way to go. It won't till the last bear has capitulated - that means when we stop seeing threads predicting crashes, the top will have been reached. We're not there yet.
2155  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the peak of this bull run? on: November 26, 2017, 02:35:06 PM
I was there for the 2013/14 bull run as well.

What I remember back then was there was no talk of bubbles at all. Everyone was convinced it was moon time. And of course it wasn't.

This time, plenty of people are talking about bubbles (including this thread). Which means we're not at the peak yet. They say bull markets climb a wall of worry. And it's only when the last bear capitulates and decides, heck it's going to the moon, that the market turns and falls. The opposite happens in a bear market - when the last bull capitulates and decides there will never be a recovery, is when the market turns up. This is what happened in 2016, when people were convinced the flippening would happen and Ether would take the crown.

I don't think we're at the peak just yet, simply because so many people are talking about the market falling.
2156  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bittrex announces minimum trade size raise and other info on: November 26, 2017, 12:57:33 PM
I have to say I like this part with disabling orders which re 28 plus days old. It ll reduce clogging and also prevent people from using exchanges as wallets, which is also good since it reduces risk.

Most of the stuff Bittrex does is the step in the right direction, besides limiting accounts of people from countries under sanctions. But again, this is politics.

All that will happen is that the order books become thin. So say there is a flash crash - there will be no old orders on there to soak it up, so it should crash faster than on other exchanges.

Having a good order book is essential for liquidity - and those old orders are what ensure a full order book...
2157  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the bitcoin price doesn't stop rising? on: November 26, 2017, 11:55:14 AM
My guess is that the hedge funds are stocking up prior to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange futures launching in December.

In order to hedge properly, you need to own the underlying asset, then if you go short on the futures and long the underlying asset you are perfectly hedged. Also because bitcoin is unregulated, they can use their bitcoin holdings to manipulate the price. So say, go short on the futures, and then sell their coins prior to futures expiry day, so that the settlement price on the futures leads them to a profit.

We thought we were the wild west, but it's going to get even wilder.
2158  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bittrex Issue New Trading Policy Says all Stale Orders Will Be Removed on: November 25, 2017, 07:21:48 PM
they are disable some people accounts with out any clear answer! I do not know what they did do to now from 11th Oct! they must answer their clients.

It's doubtful that they are disabling the accounts for no reason, you should contact their support if you feel there's been a mistake.

They've tried to force all their legacy account holders to get enhanced verification, even for trading trivial amounts. There is something extremely shady going on with that exchange. Have you seen their bitcoin withdrawal fees? In the past only exchanges that have run out of money have withdrawal fees like that...
2159  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bittrex announces minimum trade size raise and other info on: November 25, 2017, 06:56:41 PM
I'm glad I moved most of my coins from Bittrex last month. (I have a legacy account and didn't want to be forced to give them my ID stuff in case they get hacked).

The removal of "stale orders" that are over 28 days old is insane. I often place orders at various price points just so you can catch spikes up or flash crashes. Sometimes orders I've set a year in advance have come good and made me a lot of money.

It would be an utter nuisance setting these every month - I bet their entire order book suddenly dries up as a result of this silly policy.
2160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crptocurrencies, Altcoins growth are awesome. on: November 25, 2017, 05:49:08 PM
BTC and other altcoins values are really growing up. Data in coinmarketcap.com confirms it.  What are the main reasons? Is this due to, many understood the crptocurrencies' values and invested in?

There is a lot more money in the crypto space, and some people see bigger percentage gains trading alts than trading bitcoin. There is also the potential for one of two alts to become bitcoin killers, and people are investing in them "just in case".
