@ CfB

Can we reduce only 1 type of transaction fee (i.e Message Fee) or do we have to reduce all the transaction fee?

Interesting idea. What would be the consequences for the network, if we would overload it with thousands of messages per minute?

there is currently a limit  4 msg per second.

360,000 per 24 hours.

But that will be expanded to a few million within couple months

Illegal content.....that is a problem whether the fee is 1nxt or 10 nxt

If it's a problem, and there is no solution, sooner rather than later this will be used by competition to shut down NXT network. Alias and AM features should be disabled until solution is found.

we have discussed this issue on previous occasions...and i'm sure it will be solved but it's the same problem the internet has....i'm not smart enough to suggest any solutions for this one.

Can you, when putting it to the vote, also explain why?
Otherwise we will just get Yes from the small accounts and No from the Forging accounts.
People should vote on the fact that this lowering of the fees is proposed to increase the general worth of the system, not because of their wallets NOW.

Other factors should be mentioned too; e.g.:

 - Lower AM fee will increase blockchain size; currently we have no mechanism to prune it.
 - Lower AM fee will also increase spam and illegal content appearing on the blockchain; currently there is no mechanism to remove this (but clients can be developed to ignore it).

1) CfB already mentioned the solution for managing blockchain size.

2) Client could easily manage this.

Edit: For spam....limit the number of new accounts a user can send messages to for a certain amount of blocks.

Illegal content.....that is a problem whether the fee is 1nxt or 10 nxt

YES this is a very good point
2146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 15, 2014, 11:16:19 AM

Yes, that's what I am saying. If, by lowering fees, we see a large increase in transactions, then it will be worth it to lower fees. The question is, will we see that large of an increase right now? If not, then it may be too early to do so.

That's my point we won;t see large transaction increases because someone is not gonna waste 1 Nxt just to send a simple msg.

the cheaper it is for the user the more they will use the service.....period.

Exactly my point, too.

Also, people like to communicate.
They love to send people chatter.

Give them the ability to do so, and I bet you that transactions will take off.
And Nxt is about transactions.

There is a feature that is usuable, so make it easy and cheap to use.
That's all I am saying.

Community should vote using the ... oh wait...  Kiss

I am for putting it to a vote. The poll will run for 1 week on both Nextcoin & Nxtcrypto.org forums.

I can organize the polls on both forums.

POLL QUESTION: SHOULD WE LOWER TRANSACTION FEE TO 0.01 Nxt?

Just want to throw something in the discussion.

Now that AM is here and other functions like voting are coming clients are being made (even the very basic ones), wouldn't it be a good idea to lower fees on that rather quickly?

I feel that adoption of Nxt will be far better served by use than by lower prices of Nxt so people can get thousands and thousands.

The value of anything is determined by it's usefulness anyway.

So, if for instance, if AM would cost 0,01 Nxt for a message, even someone with one Nxt from the faucet would be able to get some actual use out of his Nxt (100 messages for FREE, WOO! Wink)

Also, we might be seeing transactions go up, although I see that with the current block creation times, that may also create irritation at this moment?

My main point however is to look to fee lowering as a way to throw Nxt more open in the future instead of the market price. The fees are what determine how much use you can get out of one Nxt, thus determining the value of that Nxt?

Good idea of just plain idiocy?

I AGREE 100%   ...this must be done on PRIORITY basis....0.01 message fee should be done.

We have to balance low fees vs. people forging. I think it may be too early to decrease the fee. For example, if the fee is 0.01 NXT (= $0.0004) someone would have to forge 2500 min. transactions (which would be thousands of blocks) to make $1.

If traffic increased 10-100x to compensate, of course that will be better. So the question is, will lowering fees right now increase traffic by 10-100x? Otherwise many people will stop forging and the network will be more susceptible to an attack.

its all the same thing....guy send 1 msg == 1 nxt or guy send 100 msg == 1 Nxt....fee amount generated is the same....but utility value increases for the guy who is now using the service on a regular basis.

Voting is used for getting the opinion only.

I see.

So let's make 1 nxt = 1 vote and see what will happen.

I agree...if voting is to get consensus then lets try 1 nxt = 1 vote

Could the community help to decide whom to give rewards for Client category?

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkfSNgBIzmvXdC1GYXE0QkpyY3lROFhXWTZSamNVVGc&usp=sharing#gid=0

Don't count nexern (his client already funded) and maco (community already came to the conclusion).

I think we should separate desktop clients from Mobile Apps?

Landa can you make a poll for the mobile app candidates? or tell me who are candidates.

A few days ago you mentioned that soon the network will be able to forge constant blocks every 60,000 ms...I have been thinking on this and my conclusion is that with the current network size every account which is able to forge will be forging blocks on a daily even hourly basis?

No. "Time warp" won't get rid of account dispersion, only time between blocks dispersion will be affected.

so "Time wrap" won;t improve time to forge for smaller accounts?
