2141  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Would You Use a Bitcoin Debit Card? on: April 09, 2015, 12:47:07 PM
I would use a Bitcoin Debit Card like a Xapo or a Bit-X one, but unfortunately I don't think they ship to the good ole USA.

If they did, I'd put away my bank card for awhile and use it in a heartbeat...
2142  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need to know more about cold storage on: April 09, 2015, 12:42:09 PM
Hello!
Actually what is a cold storage (in bitcoins)?
I didn't get it..
Cold storage doesn't have private keys or what? If it have a private key then cold storage can also be hacked by some malware, keyloggers, etc., right?
An online wallet can be used as a cold storage?
Or
i should have any special equipments for cold storage?
Cold storage is something like bit mixer/laundry?
Cold storage transactions are off blockchain?

~Rude Boy

Easiest way to break it down.

Hot = Online, always connected.  Could be web wallet or desktop wallet or mobile phone wallet

Cold = Offline, never connected.  Could be paper wallet, usb drive, or air gapped hard drive

Ahh the wealthy elite thread!  It always brings a grin to my face during this tough period of growth.

Knowing so many others are in the same boat, waiting for Bitcoin to develop...

To hell with waiting, I'm helping to make it happen Cheesy

www.incryptex.com

that website is bizonkers. i have literally never seen anything like that in my life. i didn't even know that was technically possible. did you guys hire freaking actors, photographers and cinematographers for the wallpaper of your website!?!?

Yes, we did Cheesy We are not another hobby company.

Could you tell us if it was under pain of death?

I'm a real loyal employee. Let's not find out, eh? There are a lot of things I might do to avoid my death. If it's me or you, It's you.

And I like you!  Grin

Just watched that Incryptex video once again.  Very slick site animation and cool video, Biomech!

Just tell those actors not to carry around 100 BTC on their mobile phones though!!!   Embarrassed
2144  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: easy way that get me bitcoin on: April 09, 2015, 12:22:23 PM
Easiest way to get Bitcoin....BUY IT!   Wink

I mean, if you have $5, $10, $100 just go to Coinbase, Circle, or LocalBitcoins and buy the damn thing.  So easy.

In life, there are no handouts...
2145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Marketplace Buttercoin Folds Despite $1.3 Million Investment on: April 08, 2015, 08:21:06 PM
Believe it or not, this is the first I've heard about Buttercoin.

Sucks, because like others are saying, it's a further stain on failed Bitcoin ventures that never met their promise.

Somehow, I think whoever came up with the name, deserves a big smack upside the head.  Buttercoin!  Sounds like another shitcoin to be perfectly honest...
2146  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: coinbase phishing alert on: April 08, 2015, 07:05:12 PM
And I used to trust coinbase's security.
Now the question is will coinbase honor the btc from the victims that will fall for this.......I think not.

If Coinbase did get hacked, they should address on their blog or send a mass email warning all their userbase immediately.

That said, if you've been using Coinbase, you most likely have 2 Factor Authentication involved for any transactions, so any fool that falls for this, kinda deserves it.

2FA man, 2FA!  No one blindly sends money to an address or QR code without 2FA!!!

2149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Be careful of any emails from news@coinbase.com on: April 08, 2015, 06:49:49 PM
Just got this email from what appears to be an attempted phishing attack, hoax, or scam from an entity posing to be Coinbase.

I've personally done several transactions with Coinbase, and I've never received one from a news@coinbase.com, trying to solicit deposits to a random address on Blockchain.info without their Coinbase 2 factor authentication gateway.  It's always been contact@coinbase.com or support@coinbase.com, and transactions never occured outside their website or app.

I'd suggest all Coinbase users remember this bit of info for future correspondence, to avoid any scam attempts.

Anyone that accepts Bitcoin is A-OK in my book.  F#ck the issues!   Tongue

lol I hear ya. I wish he were running as an Independent tho, I'll never vote Republican even if they promise to make bitcoin the national currency and give a free pet monkey to every US citizen. Seriously tho move this thread to politics forum.

Done!

I know how you feel, as I've always voted Democrat for some reason, but that last few terms have left a bad taste in my mouth, so I can't really support any political party really.

At the end of the day, all these parties will screw you one day, whether it'd be taxes, new laws, social reform, or otherwise.

I'm just deciding to vote with my wallet.dat now!   Cheesy

I would buy Bitcoin because..

The average joe in the street doesn't know what the hell it is!  I like knowing things, before the masses do, for better or for worse!

Guess that makes me a Crypto Hipster.   Cool

Nice site!  Are you a partner or part of the staff, there?

Looks like a nifty crypto exchange.
2155  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: April 08, 2015, 02:36:02 PM
Even though we touched it back in 2013, $1000 just seems so far away in 2015... Cry

I know 1 BTC is still equal to 1 BTC, if you never sell, but sometimes being a bag holder is as much mental as it is digital, no matter how much you believe in it...

2156  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INVEST BITCOIN!!! on: April 08, 2015, 02:30:28 PM
For investors that want to invest in Bitcoin, but in the more traditional fiat based way, you can probably get in on GBTC and COIN when it eventually launches:

-snip-

Is that a legit site? Seems a little bit fishy for me.

If you're talking about Ticker symbol GBTC which will represent BIT (Bitcoin Investment Trust) on the OTC markets, that's as legit as it gets.

Look up Barry Silbert.  He's in charge of BIT.

As far as the Winklevii, I'm sure you've heard of them in the news, and heard of their ETF, COIN, as well as their upcoming exchange, Gemini.  All fully regulated and legitimate awaiting launch sometime this year.
2157  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin Money or Currency on: April 08, 2015, 02:20:07 PM

So, is bitcoin money or currency?

Bitcoin is money, currency, AND probably the most relevant and best feature...a protocol.

Bitcoin's Blockchain sets it apart from the fiats and golds...

2159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can somebody explain me step by step how can I make paper wallet? on: April 08, 2015, 02:08:44 PM
Until now , I do not know what is paper wallet. Hope that I can understand it from everyone's answer

Paper wallets are Bitcoin wallets made out of paper containing your public wallet address, QR code and funded with your Bitcoins for storing or spending.

Ideally, you'd want the private key....private.  Otherwise, someone else can have control over your stash.
2160  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which BTC wallet are you using on: April 08, 2015, 01:50:36 PM
I am using Coinbase Bitcoin Core 0.10.0

So which one is it?  Coinbase wallet or Bitcoin Core wallet?

Both are completely different from one another.  Coinbase is a web wallet and Bitcoin Core is a desktop wallet.
