Nice!

8 breakoutboard!  Shocked  You got a nice farm! What are you using?

If you mean what rigs am I using, I have this at the moment [Please ignore the mess; will be cleaner when moved to the next closet]:

Here is the closet I'm presently working on.  I have an exhaust fan on the way for this closet.  It should be here Wednesday or Thursday.  I also have fifteen (15) SP20's on the way.  They should be here Thursday.  I also need to finish the power going to this closet as well.  I'm presently doing taxes.  I will finish taxes first; then get this closet finished and mining sometime next week.

A window is centered in the back inside this closet where a 7,800 CFM exhaust fan will be installed.  This structure is large enough for 96 S4's or 192 S5's.  However, I'm not sure what all I'm putting in it at this point in time.  I have plans for moving to another State with cheaper power than where I am presently.  I may wait to purchase more rigs when I move to that other State rather than spending money on upgrading power at my house here in Alabama.

I purchased more PDU's as well but I got horizontal versions this time to save some money.  I will be making whips in the future when I move to another State.

First post updated with what have been shipped as of today.
the remaining boards will ship on monday.

Everything I ordered arrived in the U.S. from France in good shape.  Breakout boards were bubble wrapped and protected very well.  The quality of the cords look great!  Thanks again for your hard work, Sir!  I hope to be ordering quite a bit more from you in the future!

The following "requirements" don't require a new chip design:

"I was thinking 30 TH/s range with 16,000 watts and .51 watts per GH"

The above, except possibly for cost, can be done with roughly 30 SP20's. It can easily be donwclocked to make the .51 W/GH without trouble.

They are on the way, Sir.  Hence, my estimate on costs for this 12U/16kW rig "with" new chips.

12U, 16kw, 10 replaceable hashing boards.

What kind of price range can we expect the 3rd gen hardware to cost? Will the price be more than $10,000 or $25,000+? Per 12U unit?

I would like to see a target of $8,000 Smiley

Without knowing the hash rate for this 16,000 watt rig?

I am thinking in the 40 TH/s range for ~$8,000

It would more than likely be around $12,600.00 to $14,200.00 if it were a 30 TH/s rig with built in PSU's.

anyone know of a quieter fan This S4 is freaking loud!!!!!

The reason it's loud is you need a fan to go up to just shy of 5,000 RPM's to keep it cool at default clock speeds in warm temperatures during the summer.  If you under clock it, it will make it quieter because of less heat to contend with, which means less fan speed.  Unless you have it working in warm climate.  If you have several of them, you are better off putting them inside of something while keeping them cool to keep the noise down.  Don't forget to get the heat out of the closure.  That's the most important thing!

Don't try to run this rig at default clock speed of 2000 GH/s with fans that are lower RPM.  Otherwise, it will run hot quite easily and possibly shut off periodically for reaching the 80 C threshold temperature depending on the ambient temperature they are sitting in.

That is my opinion.  This rig just runs much hotter than the S3's.

So, basically, the only way to have these quieter is to run them at lower clock speeds in a room that does not have to high of an ambient temperature.

I had to get replacement fans for an S4.  Two of them failed on me.  The propellor with axel came out of it's socket on both of them [exposing the copper coils].

I decided to order some fans to have ready to replace failed fans in the future to avoid too much down time.  I also bought extension cables, as the cables that come with the fans are not up to 27 inches long [Needed for the furtherest fan in the back left of the unit].  I purchased three (3) Delta Electronics PFC1212DE 120x120x38mm Cooling Fan, 252.85 CFM, 5500 RPM, 66.5 dBA, 4.8 Amp, PWM Connector.  This fan comes fabricated from the manufacturer with a 4 pin connector.  Here is a picture of the fan:

The following is a video review of the fan to also show watts consumed at full speed:  approximately 51.2 watts at full speed (5500 RPM & 252.85 CFM).

Currently assembling boards, I'll take some pics tomorrow.

I'll have a big batch ready to ship on monday, and the remaining orders should be shipped before the end of next week, I'll message the buyers 24h before shipment so they can make the final payment once I've weighted the packages.

Next batch of boards will be ready end of february/first week of march.
And starting in march, I have scheduled deliveries for the connectors every 2 weeks so I can always sell more or less from stock.

Sounds Great!!!

Thanks again for the hard work; with little sleep at that.  It's really appreciated!!!

Best Regards!!!

Received my boards and cables this week. J4bberwock provided excellent communications, products, and service! The boards and cables look and work great! The plastic standoffs that attach the board to the PSU frame are a really nice touch. This really anchors the board to the PSU frame. The cables are also top notch. I definitely would purchase from J4bberwock again. I just need more miners now Smiley

Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the review.  I ordered 60 15AWG PCI-e cords and breakout boards myself.  I look forward to seeing and using his products.

Thanks again for the review!

Take a look at my findings. Im running 35 pcs SP20E now and all clocked to 600-650 Watt.

Can someone tell me about how many GH/s we would get from the SP20 if it was under clocked close to .51 watts per GH/s?

EDIT:  I found a good answer which ended up being .55 watts per GH/s for 1,350 GH/s.  That's pretty damn good!!!

Is it really 60+ db?
not under clocked see my settings above

after much testing and firmware down to fan speed of 20 the machine is 67 db.

with super underclock to 1025 gh and 477 watts.  fan can be set to 10 or 15 vis ssh.  It is still not a quiet miner.

I spend 746 watts and I am getting  1350 gh  or 0.55 watts per gh this allows the lowest fan setting  40..   give me an hour to find my db meter.

right now I love this piece of gear……….. 746 watts for 1350gh   out fucking standing.

this is current power use

I use an evga 1300g2 unit

current settings and hash rate

Hello Sir,

I need to order 3 of your breakout boards for the IBM 2880, please.  I also want to order forty-eight (48) of your home made 15AWG 1.65mm 32" cords.

I plan to order many more IBM 2880 breakout boards later.  This is a start.  Your business would be appreciated greatly!!!

Do you just send me an invoice?  What is the method of payment?  Please let me know how to initiate an order with you.

Just wanted to thank J4bberwock for the 2880W boards,  these boards are great.  Very easy to go dense with miners with these boards and their well made not a single issue.  Thanks again.

Very nice setup, McHouston.

I just purchased 3 of these IBM 2880 watt PSU's myself.  I'm about to order 3 of these breakout boards and 15 AWG cords.

May I ask how many S3's you have hooked up to each 2880 watt PSU?

Also, if you purchased PCI-e cords as well, what length cords did you get?
2155  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Reservation for the Bladecenter H 2880W Breakout Boards on: February 02, 2015, 05:18:33 PM
is this board and its components, strong enough for 300w per 6pin connector?

J4bberwock, i guess the answer is no?!

Sorry, I didn't see the message earlier and it was quite a sad day here in France  Cry

To answer your request, the board uses 4 layers of 2oz copper, so no worries there.

Each pin on the PCI-e connectors is rated 9A.
3pairs x 9A x 12v=324W
So, the answer is yes, and we should even have the manufacturer's safety margin on top of the 324w.

Second thing to consider, your PCI-E cables are using 9A crimp pins anyway, unless you asked specifically for the 45750 series pins rated 13A that I'm using on request for a few customers who want even more safety.

And don't forget that usually, you are speaking of 300W at the wall, and drawn by a bronze PSU, so less close to 250w drawn from the PSU.

I'll ask one of the early buyer who is running 2 boards @3000W since before Christmas how many cables/which miners he is using.

Forgive my "newbieness," please...

Can I hook up my S3's to this PSU with your boards until I get S5's?  My guess is that it would be okay even though it would be 648 watts available to each S3 via two PCI-e connections; the s3 would only use what I have configured it to use [if I over clocked it]... correct?

EDIT:  Apparently I can use this 2880 watt IBM PSU with my S3's.  I like the way McHouston has his set up:

The "search" is disabled right now.  Otherwise, I'm sure I could find the answer to this question:

One of my fan blades on the back of an S4 popped out of its socket.  The metal axel is still connected to the fan blade(s) [propeller; whatever you want to call it].  The fan's axel simply came out on it's own from the housing and rested against one of the blades (circuit boards).  I took off the lid to see it like this.  I put the axel back in the hole in the center of the housing and pressed but it seem to not want to stay in there.  Will it click if I press harder?  I don't want to break the thing.

Will I need to buy another fan?  If so, what fan do I get?  Since I bought my S4's the end of November, is it still under warranty to get a replacement fan from BITMAIN?

There's no saving that, its how these fans usually fail unfortunately. If you're out of warranty, the cheapest option is to pick up an SP120 fan, twin pack is cheaper. [With affiliate link] [Without affiliate link].

If it was a front fan (intake) fan that failed you can swap it out directly. If it was a rear fan, swap one of the working front fans to the rear and put this fan in the front. The rear fans do most of the work so the front ones can be run quite a bit slower without any cooling impact.

I sent yoshi an email.  I'm about to send bitmainwarranty a PM shortly.  Here are some pictures.  [I dusted the thing out before putting it back to mining.  The temps are okay still; but higher than the other S4's].

Please only use one contact method, if you've already contacted Yoshi then let him sort it. In the future though, contact BitmainWarranty as its their sole job to help customers, so usually act quicker.

Yes, it was a rear fan.  It is still under warranty.  All of my S4's were shipped December 1, 2014.  I contacted Yoshi and BitmainWarranty.  I remember in the future to only contact one of them... BitmainWarranty.

Thanks again for the info!!!

I blew out the dust before putting the lid on the last time.

The fan on the right is the one that pops out of it's socket.  The axel is still connected to the propeller though.  It will not snap in.  I've taken the lid off 3 times now trying to get it going.  It just won't do anything.

I'm curious...  Does a screw hold on the axel from the other side of the fan.  I did not take the outside grille off of the S4 to investigate that.  Probably should have.

You're welcome. Wow, be glad the prop didn't smash into bits and destroy the boards in the process...

WOW...  Okay... I'm glad!!!

2160  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: January 27, 2015, 05:02:45 PM
If you're talking about 18,000W and 15 SP20s, why are you quoting the single unit price on the SP20? 15 SP20s cost $5500 shipped, which is a considerably better price.
Downclocked to the same speed as an S5, the SP20 is as efficient or moreso that an S5 (neither of mine hit .510 J/GH on a Platinum supply, BTW), and the price is close to the same.

30 SP20s will set you back $10,990 shipping included, while 30 S5s will cost $11,100 plus shipping (~$11,900 shipped to the US). If you have 30 coupons you could probably knock $1000 off that price, but that just makes it a wash.

Owning both, if I had 18,000W to play with and had to choose between the SP20 and S5 at the same price, power and hashrate I'd definitely go with the SP20. Either would work, but arranging that many would be nicer with the SP20 and it just feels like a much more rugged unit.

And when doing profit calcs, don't put the SP20 at 1.7 TH/s. Most people get about 1.6 TH/s out of it, almost no one gets 1.7 TH/s. Whereas the S5 is easily overclocked to 1.3 TH/s from virtually every unit.

Another excellent point to make and it's doing so while having more power efficiency than the SP20.
