Spondoolies, can you provide an approximate power versus hashrate graph (or table) for the SP35? This will help in optimizing net profit for these units based on local electricity rates.

12U, 16kw, 10 replaceable hashing boards.
IMHO, if you came out with something like 4U/5Kw/3 or 4 board version in the 20-25TH range you'd make a killing.  I think that would still keep the home miner in the game as basically anyone with 5 SP20's running today should/would be able to convert over to this. As with the SP30/31/35 the rack mount form factor would be great for those of us in a datacenter setting.
I would absolutely buy one of your third generation units at a 4U form factor, i can not imagine it costing you that much more to release both form factors simultaneously. Since if you did released it to industrial miners first they would have the advantage of the new ASIC technology before the home miners giving the industrial miners more of an advantage. Releasing both form factors simultaneously however would create a more level playing field. You would also gain even more respect then you already have amongst the Bitcoin community. Furthermore in the long run this might even be the most profitable strategy for spoondoolies, since what is good for Bitcoin is also good for spondoolies. that is one of the beautiful things about Bitcoin, it is supposed to align incentives towards good. Smiley
Launching two product lines simultaneously isn't feasible. As with our previous gens, we'll be open to sell our ASICs.
The 3 months lead time on the ASICs kill most of those deals.
If it at all helps to do pre-orders, i think you should. I would pre-order a 4u or 2u third generation unit and i am sure many other people here would do so as well, i bought my sp31's on a pre order as well after all. Smiley

While I would love to run a group buy for Spondoolies next gen equipment, I think that it would require conversations with the Spondoolies team.  While no such conversations have taken place, I would definitely be open to anything I could do to help the community or Spondoolies.  Keep me in mind Spondoolies team!

Thank you for your suggestion. However, due to the technology risk of our 3rd gen tech, we don't think it's suitable for pre-orders by non accredited investors.
We're working on funding the masks set and initial batch not through pre-orders.

Don't underestimate how important it is that this company is actively resisting pre-orders.

Depending on how much hosting space we have available when stuff starts to move, I'd definitely look into facilitating a group buy (or at least endorsing one) with some of the miners ending up here and/or going to various US-domestic home miners, for smaller gear built on Gen3 stuff.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

""Don't underestimate how important it is that this company is actively resisting pre-orders.

^^ agreed. It is easy to accept pre-orders but it almost always puts undue pressure on designers and manufacturers as well as tends to build unrealistic expectations on delivery times and performance on untested technology.

Much respect to Spondoolies for their decision process.

12U, 16kw, 10 replaceable hashing boards.

What kind of price range can we expect the 3rd gen hardware to cost? Will the price be more than $10,000 or $25,000+? Per 12U unit?

Without knowing the hash rate for this 16,000 watt rig?  I'm supposing it would be about 30 TH/s

It would more than likely be around $12,600.00 to $14,200.00 if it were a 30 TH/s rig with built in PSU's.

The following "requirements" don't require a new chip design:

"I was thinking 30 TH/s range with 16,000 watts and .51 watts per GH"

The above, except possibly for cost, can be done with roughly 30 SP20's. It can easily be donwclocked to make the .51 W/GH without trouble.

I think what Guy was talking about is franchising, so you might even not own anything.
SPT will hire a franchise to host multiple miners presumably on a revenue sharing basis plus some support contract.
Obviously, it (franchising and contracting) would make little sense for one SP100.
I don't want to put words in anybodies mouth, but this is how it sounded to me.

On the other hand, making something like a kibbutz out of it is perhaps a solid idea.
Say, a facility with 5-10 SP100 with machines paid for by five people or so.
hosting partner would be the one contacting SPT for service.
It could work, I think.
