21401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If *someone* is stressing BTC... Do you support stressing *someone*? on: September 10, 2015, 12:03:55 PM
By the way, today is September 10th, at what time and which time zone is stress test starting exactly?

They were cancelled. See elsewhere in this thread.

as bahamapascal quoted those scumbags are using the same strategy they used last time.
they are spreading the private keys of the addresses which they want to use on their spam attack so the number of transactions go even higher by using other people's greed for making a 0.001BTC

i remember last time i saw the same thing on reddit on a post disguised as "i can't send bitcoin from my wallet, please help me" and then he started leaking 100 private keys.
21402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you differentiate you portfolio? on: September 10, 2015, 11:56:41 AM
most of the time, i ignore all the ups and downs of bitcoin price. i keep an amount in my cold wallet and don't touch it at least until next year to see how the price is going to be by then.

+1

I also keep something invested in altcoins (Doge, Ethereum etc.) but I don't trade it daily or weekly. I keep them in my wallet and maybe I'll sell them when there worth much more then now.

i agree. if anybody wants to earn some more bitcoin from what they already have it is a good idea to invest an amount that they are comfortable with in altcoin market which contains very good profit opportunities.

i do the same thing but i try not to invest for long term and mostly trade altcoins rather than buying and holding them.
21403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Malware on: September 10, 2015, 11:50:28 AM
If you can afford it, get two pc. I have with myself one with a lower spec which is connected to the internet all the time and i even use it for installing untrusted new software. The other one is basically most of the time offline and no other software installed in it except browsers, together with my hot wallet

you don't need to spend that much in order to have a secure environment that you can safely install and use a bitcoin wallet.
all you need is a USB disk which is super cheep , and linux that you can download free (like Ubuntu).

1) make persistent live linux on the USB disk
2) change a couple of settings so that it would never connect to network.
3) install your favorite bitcoin wallet

**) don't forget to check the signature of both linux and bitcoin wallet
21404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: September 10, 2015, 11:46:05 AM
Litecoin has been steadily going down; it does not bring anything new to the table compared to Bitcoin. There are many other alt coins which are more innovative; they should do better than Litecoin in the long run... Smiley

newbie shills repeating this ad nauseam doesn't make it true  Roll Eyes

then you prove us newbies wrong!
does litecoin bring anything new that is actually useful when it comes to using it as a currency? NO
is litecoin price growing? NO
is it a good idea to invest in litecoin? probably not
21405  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to complete one btc fast? on: September 10, 2015, 11:28:53 AM
You can join those signature campaign to have some bitcoins.

it's not fast anymore, you need two months right now for 1 btc, well at least it is not fast as it was in the good old day

1 btc in two months with a senior at least, anything less is worthless

You can join magicaldice signature campaign and earn up to 0.15 BTC per week.

You will complete 1 btc in 2 months. Grin

better than bit-x, i could be interested

Signatures have slowed down.  Just so many hat do it pay is less.   I can understand  it.

Even if sig paid slightly better then Bit-x  I don't think I could leave it.  They just have treated me very well during it.  It is interesting if some go up in  pay.

the only signature campaign that was good in every aspect , was DaDice signature campaign. it had the highest payment rates and also very nice bonuses.
on top of all that it was leading users to better quality posts which made the whole forum a better place.
but sadly it stopped continuing Sad
21406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Notify when altcoin price changes? on: September 10, 2015, 06:49:54 AM
i know these bots that might help you:
Quatloo   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=711966.0
C.A.T.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=507103.0
cryptrader (online platform) https://cryptrader.com/

It is a pain.  I could get a lot more done every day if I didn't do it.  I check my Poloniex trade executions.  Are any of the bots available like a cloud service?

If you would like me to pm you I know of a couple you could take a look at. I won't send unwanted though, I just found some the other day and am happy with it so far so happy sending them to you for ya to take a look at.

can you please share them with me too.
21407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altcoins!which one is better? on: September 10, 2015, 06:43:55 AM
which altcoin is better.bitcoin, litecoin or dogecoin?

altcoin is a term given to any cryptocurrency other than bitcoin, it stands for alternative coin (alternative cryptocurrency) which is alternative to bitcoin.

which is better?
bitcoin without a doubt. because it is the biggest crypto and has the largest number of usages and investors.

the other two that you named are dead (dying) coins in my opinion and offer no special feature.
litecoin is a copy of bitcoin, and dogecoin is still alive because of its community and because it is a fun coin.
21408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which bitcoin wallet is the safest and the most convenient? on: September 10, 2015, 06:37:26 AM
To you guys who are saying that core is very heavy with storage space, I believe the new version 0.11 now supports pruning mode, so the storage space shouldn't be as much of an issue as it used to be.

are you sure about this?

i didn't know about this feature prior to your post, so i searched and read this https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.11.0#block-file-pruning

reading this part
Code:
Block pruning is currently incompatible with running a wallet due to the fact that block data is used for rescanning the wallet and importing keys or addresses (which require a rescan.)
However, running the wallet with block pruning will be supported in the near future, subject to those limitations.

i wonder , does this mean that it can not be used by people who want to use core as a wallet?
21409  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about starting new type of btc gambling game on: September 10, 2015, 06:23:55 AM
So I didn't know where else to post this topic, mods if this isn't the right place to talk about this PM me and I'll gladly move the discussion from this section of the forum.

gambling section might be a better place to move your topic.

Quote
So when I was trying to get some sleep last night, a light bulb went off in my head about a possible new type of btc gambling game that a large majority of sports lovers would enjoy. I've already visited multiple btc gambling websites, and I have yet seen this type of game being promoted. Because of the fact I don't want anyone taking my idea, I won't go into much detail. Just know that I would need to run a provably fair scrypt, and I don't know the slightest thing about coding, so I'm out of luck there.

the fact that your haven't seen your idea in any place might be because it is not profitable. and since you are not sharing any sort of detail about it, makes it impossible to give any opinion on the matter let alone attract any investors.

Quote
Question is this though, what can I do to either start my own website with other investors who would like to participate in this experiment? Or should I pitch this game to an already established btc gambling website and invest my btc in their website. It's really hard to ask the right questions, because I would have no idea where to begin on this new found project of mine.

Any suggestions are welcome in this thread or you can PM me if you'd like as well. Thanks.

as i said nobody can give any opinion on our idea unless they know a little about it first.
but if you think it is worth the effort , and you predict profit, then you can hire some coders and designers to make your website and implement your idea.
as for start, you should have a starting investment on your own, then if the site gets players then you can invite investors and give them some share of the profit.
21410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the next big thing? on: September 09, 2015, 11:25:48 AM
If one day bitcoin is gone I'm sure people would lose trust towards crypto currency as a whole. Besides at this point I really don't see an alternative coins will be worth taking over its place.

Thats bad because Litecoin can take over anytime, its almost a clone of bitcoin, so it would be easy to take over.

Plus by then we would have more experience with cryptocurrencies, so obviously any error that bitcoin had, would be corrected in the others.

Besides dont forget: NXT, NMC, PRC, GEMZ, BYTE,etc. those other altcoins will be worth something without BTC aswell. Not to mention ETHER, and RIPPLE.

i am 100% sure that if someday bitcoin dies at least litecoin would not take its place, as you yourself said litecoin is just a copy with no useful feature. so i don't see any chance for it.

but other coins might have a better chance BUT i personally would not consider any substitute for crypto since if something huge like bitcoin dies other altcoins which are just small projects in comparison with bitcoin, would die too.
21411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If somthing bad happend to bitcoin what cryptocurrency will you use ? on: September 09, 2015, 11:15:02 AM
Hi,

I wonder If somthing bad happend to bitcoin what cryptocurrency will you use ? is there any good cryptocurrencies out there ? and you are planning to use ? or are you waiting for a new crypto ?

Thank u.

it depends on your definition of something bad that can happen?
if you mean the rises and falls of price, then it is nothing bad at all. so i don't see any reason why i should change.
but if bitcoin were to be useless and without any value or in other words if it dies i would never consider any other cryptocurrency . i would cut my losses and leave crypto world behind me.
21412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With no mixer we are all known now? on: September 09, 2015, 11:11:23 AM
If it was wanted they could make a list, no? We have our real life labeled on exchanges. All the time we withdraw or deposit it gets on the list. Soon they could know most of the wallets connected by us and follow every bit we send?

if you don't want your identity be revealed and associated with your bitcoins using Mixers is one of the options, that is proven to work.
if you don't want that, you can buy bitcoin from someone close to you with cash so that there would not exist any record of you buying those coins and send them to a fresh bitcoin address that you have just created with no connection to other addresses.
21413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is safer? Blockchain.info with 2fa or freshly wiped online comp w/ multibit on: September 09, 2015, 11:02:44 AM
I'd choose blockchain.info. It's very safe and trustful.

blockchain.info is not safe. read the comment by "subSTRATA" on top of what you said first.

i mean it is one of the good online wallets out there but it definitely is not the safest option to store your bitcoins. it is an easy way to make a quick bitcoin wallet and only for storing very small amounts that you might wanna spend easily without going into your cold wallet.
21414  Economy / Gambling / Re: Reliable gambling sites on: September 09, 2015, 09:48:58 AM
Hello,

I've started to be interested in gambling with BTC. Smiley I haven't seen any topic like this in our forum (if I'm wrong just send me a link and close this one Smiley)

hello and welcome to the most addictive way to spend bitcoin Smiley

There are a lot of adverts. And I would like to create here some database with checked services. I mean services where you have been playing, you know that there are fair rules, good rates etc.

as others have mentioned there is http://dicesites.com/ but it would be cool to see some sort of database with your feedback on each site and not just some numbers on a site.

Quote
Because for me it was impossible to go trough all these topics with recommended services (mainly by their owners).

if you want to know if one of these gambling sites are good you should check their announcement page to see what their users are saying, for example check if there is any complaining about withdrawals or if their service is actually provably fair or not.

Quote
So let's start! Where are you betting? What kind of games have you checked? Have you earned a lot? etc. etc.

PEACE Cheesy

i have mostly checked dice sites and so far stuck with PrimeDice only because it has a simple UI and loads fast even if i have slow internet.

and as for earning, i have to say no, i have only lost when i look at my total wagered and total won amounts Smiley

21416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If CoinWallet.eu is stressing BTC... Do you support stressing CoinWallet.eu? on: September 09, 2015, 08:44:45 AM
to it just looks like a desperate attempt to get some publicity. which i think is just bringing them hatred. this is going to come back and bite them in the ass after some time though.

i wonder if anybody or any group has any plan of performing some attack on their website just to get even because they technically are stress (testing) attacking bitcoin.

Why would they need publicity? They are no real business, just some sort of scamming organisation.

What really is weird how "journalists" from CoinDesk act in this case. This isn't journalism anymore, but becoming partner-in-crime.

[edit]

However, I've filed a formal request with the Canadian and British authorities, for Coinwallet is definitively violating the AML-laws, especially S.C. 2000, c. 17. So by now, the authorities should start an investigation regarding possible violations of the Anti-Terrorist-Act.

i mean some sort of advertising their scam services. they are attacking the bitcoin network and claiming that our service is not affected.
so in other words they are trying to attract more victims to their website.
21417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best altcoin for micro-transactions? on: September 09, 2015, 08:39:30 AM
^^
i agree, i like DogeCoin best for this purpose. because the transaction fee is so small (1 DOGE which is equal to 54 satoshi right now) and also the transaction will be confirmed so fast (around 1 minute).
i always use DOGE especially if i want to transfer money between exchangers, especially if they ask for huge bitcoin fees i use DOGE instead and pay 1/1000 of that amount and i am sure that i can sell it to the same price over the other place.
21418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is best to support? on: September 09, 2015, 08:31:29 AM
if you want to mine some altcoin to get some profit out of it i think the best option nowadays is to find a brand new coin that has at least some potential and then mine it when it launches.
so that because of low difficulty you can mine easier and have better profit.
21419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use cases. What do you actually use Bitcoin for? on: September 09, 2015, 08:15:58 AM
my major usage of bitcoin has always been trading altcoin, which is just a way of speculation, investment which is in fact another way to make more money. but along the way i liked how bitcoin works and want to see more places that accept bitcoin so that i can do my online shopping with bitcoin instead of using my credit card.
