Are there any spots open? The OP says no but the post which it sends me to says yes

No, this is getting to be the most repeated question in thread.  But as from OP and manager:

No New Spots!
In the near future, there are no plans to open enrollment to everyone.

So yes it is currently closed.  We will see hopefully this one post will work for entire page.... I'm guessing it wont though.

Well thanks for answering but this wont work if the OP links to the following

Spots are open once again. I will manually review all who apply for a spot.

Please make an enrolment post if you'd like to be considered.

Please just read a few pages back you will see.   Your linking to old post ... the top where it says no spots is more recent.  And one message was by far most recent I posted.   If you want PM Marco.  But there is no reason to keep cluttering thread with this.

2164  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to Bitcoin. Need advice on achieving an enjoyable net loss on: February 13, 2016, 12:53:09 PM
I started mining with Antminer U2 usb sticks on a hub and used Bitminter Client software to run them on. Made pennies in a month but it was fun to do.

https://bitminter.com/

If you go to "Tools" then "Bitminter CLient" and choose what one you want it will download onto your desktop and you have dials for your hashrate and expected earnings for the month.

If you do go with USB sticks realize you will not make ROI unless you do it through selling it.   But also if you do go for sidehacks compac, it's a great miner and is a lot more current then some of the old sticks.

But I think you would be better off sending to a hosting center in most cases then mining in UK.  The vat and high electricity prices kill it for most.  Just no profit left to be had.
2165  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 13, 2016, 12:46:10 PM
Basically I have bought an s4 which turned up last night. I have plugged it in and fired it up. I have changed my router settings to the ip range on the s4 screen but everytime I try to log into it I cant because it does not accept the "root" user and password. I have contacted the guy I bought it from but have not heard back. I was wondering if resetting it would set the access back to "root" default?

Well if you do this I suggest making a backup of current image just in case (I like to be careful).  But there is a SD card within the S4 on the RPI you can flash with image and it would go back to default assuming you using a bitmain official Image.  And keep in mine a backup or image you can flash sd card, is different then standard firmware.
2166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: February 13, 2016, 12:39:46 PM
I have a couple of what will probably be simple questions. My Avalon6 is currently in transit, so I thought I would get the RPi environment all worked out before it arrives.

I started with the image that was provided by Notlist3d. This a bit shy of 4G and was rigged for DHCP. I got that flashed onto a card, and Model B Pi that I have seemed boot just fine. I was able to get in via the web interface using just "admin" for the Id (no password). Obviously a bunch of stuff is blank/empty since there is nothing connected to the USB port. All looking good.

What I have found so far is a NO way to "Shutdown" the Pi from the web GUI. Maybe its buried somewhere and I am just not seeing it. I am really reluctant to just yank the power on a Ri for fear of corrupting the SD card. I found a Reboot button that works great, but no "Shutdown". Any comments/thoughts?

I then thought I would do the "Set a password and enable SSH" thing. I am really not understanding how to correctly operate that page. I can enter a password and confirm it just fine, but it seems to have zero effect. I am also confused by the Id that I am setting the password for. Is it "root" or "admin". Any comments on the userid/password structure that is in place would be greatly appreciated.

I also looked at the ehash website and found a variety of firmware versions, all from different dates. I also see multiple files for each date. It would be really good to know exactly which one I need to flash, and what it's expectations are in terms of network environment (DHCP, Static, etc). I am also surprised by the fact that the largest one is but a mere 76Mbyte in size, way smaller than the 3.9 Gbyte image I started with. I can obviously try some of these things to see what happens, but thought I would see what the collective wisdom is one some of the more mundane "System Admin" tasks for the Rpi in this environment. I have a comfortable grasp of Raspbian on the Pi, but OpenWrt is way new for me.

On firmware I wanted to distribute a untouched copy of BlockC's kit at time of release.  So  I left it without being in a zip/rar file.  I do have a .rar that is around 600 MB if anyone needs it.   I might be taking it for granted on my internet speed, I just liked that I felt it was almost from kit to users on here without me zipping it up.

Biggest thing I changed on it myself after is static IP.  The DHCP is a great option for install as is not configured for a different IP range then some users.   But I hate it jumping around as  I do like to monitor gear.   So I suggest going to static after you get it up on network.

I have a way of operating if it works don't mess with it, unless big issue fixed.  I have had Avalon 6's since first hit market and never updated  the firmware.  You could do a MM update on gear, but I have been happy with it.  The fixes are all listed here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon6#AUC2_Firmware  So it really is personal preference I don't think there is a wrong choice.

I don't think there are any mundane tasks you need to do, beside checking and making sure you are hashing.  Which as a miner I have always enjoyed monitoring.   In my opinion Avalon did a great job with the miner.  Below you will see about a month of running without doing any tasks:

So really very stable any not something I have had any tasks that needed repeated to keep it going.
2167  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 13, 2016, 12:13:59 PM
Has anyone had any problems after they have reset the s4? I mean directly related to resetting it.

Can you be more specific?  What type of problem are you having?

I can't think of one off the top of my head I had.  We really need more info.
2168  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Android wallet ? on: February 13, 2016, 06:50:15 AM
Look at MyCellium combination with hardware wallet.  One of most popular would be MyCellium and Trezor - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1298917.0

It is perhaps best mobile if you want security.  You get all the features of your Trezor wallet and mobility of android.   If you are just keeping daily spend in hot wallet it's not needed, but if keeping more it's worth looking into this combination.
2169  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: suggest me list of rate of mining hardware.i want purchase one of them. on: February 13, 2016, 06:32:24 AM
OP sees green dollar signs dancing in front of his eyes when he read about bitcoin mining. Human greed knows no bounds. Greedy idiots abound in the forum. LOL

Here let me help you part your money:

Bitmain S7 Batch 10, about 2.1 btc plus shipping and custom fees
Avalon A6, about $1150 plus shipping

Since you're a small fish, this is the best miners you can buy at this time. Please hurry spending your money, mining becomes more and more "difficult" as time goes on, the sooner you buy the miners, the more you make. Some people have made so much money mining, they bought Tesla and big houses. LOL

A6's are actually around 9000 for 10 currently on BlockC.    So they did go down a tad a bit ago.

The difficulty is hurting though on all miners.  Just hard to keep up it's getting insane right now.
2170  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New 3 x S7 Miner Setup With 0.0066 $ Elect. Rate on: February 13, 2016, 06:27:39 AM
A large mining farm would require lots of AC power. It doesn’t take many miners to overpower an AC.

AC is actually the last way you want to cool your farm it's just to expensive.  First is evaporation cooling, but it does not work in all environments.   Next I would say is using CFM's of fans/exhust to move hot air out.

AC no large scale bitcoin mining operation would use.

Is AC expansive because of initial price or because of the electricity? He has almost free electricity.

I agree with you, evaporative cooling is very effective but lots of CFM, if sufficient, would be my first choice.

Another option would be 2 phases immersion cooling. I've researched deep into this technology and concluded it doesn’t really apply to northern climate like here in Canada. The new 16 nm Bitfury chip and its large overclock ability might make me reconsider using 2PIC.

AC is expensive possibly because of both.   But the ongoing cost's for running it are what keep most from using it.  The miners can just put out a lot of heat and get's expensive.

There is a point that standard AC in most houses were not meant to cool down.  If you had enough miners the standard ac setup would not be enough, rooms normally are not set up with asic cooling in mine.  They are set up thinking about keeping it cool is much easier conditions.  Most normally don't get this point though due to the cost of cooling miners with AC.
2171  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: February 13, 2016, 06:21:29 AM
The first 2 I got from Bitmain have 12 PCIe connectors. Also no provision for DC on/off unless there is a header inside. Now they all come with 10 PCIe and a DC on/off pigtail  plug w/jumper on it.

I have 3 originals from S5+ day's with 12 connectors.  It did not need more then  the the 10 but it did have it.

Not sure what caused them to remove it.  Although they might have decided 10 is  all they will use and that is quite a bit.
2172  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer U3 .bat code? on: February 12, 2016, 11:24:25 PM
Ive tried everyone i could find

cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:10 -o xxx -u xxx -p xxx --bmsc-freq 0982

cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.65 -o XXX -u XXX -p XXX --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1306

even tried to just open cgminer, it keeps saying the pool difficulty changed or something

please help

If  you look under devices is the U3 showing up?  I ask this as it could be a driver issue zadig sometimes causes some people trouble.  So I would start with looking for device. After that focus on cgminer.

Long term get a R1 with crazy guy's mod on it.  It will reset your zombies and make your life a lot easier..
yea the driver is fine, but whats an R1?

The Antminer R1. Its a router/miner/whatever. Someone put firmware on it that will prevent the U3 from going zombie;
https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160128085902068wLN3nqWQ06C5

It's in the R1 thread on the forum.  You will see different versions of Crazy Guy's custom firmware.  But all of them are great, but you might go ahead and get most current.

On the custom firmware it does not prevent zombies, but it does detect them and restart the device.   It can go as far as restarting the entire R1 which does fix all zombies.   It's a great firmware to run.
2173  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: February 12, 2016, 11:15:26 PM
On firewall what router do you have?    I know I had a all in one modem/router from fiber company.   It was utter crap it stopped a lot of outgoing traffic including some miners and part of my security system.

What is you  using as far as router/modem?
2174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paper Wallets on: February 12, 2016, 06:31:12 PM
I didn't try paper wallets personally. But according to some world class website's review it it most secured wallet ever.
Both desktop and web based wallet can be hacked but impossible to hack paper wallet.

The key thing is if it is done right on un-compromised equipment.  Paper wallet is not 100 percent secure unless done right.  If you overlooked something or had something bad on your computer you might feel safe and think you are... but you are not.
2175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Android wallet on: February 12, 2016, 06:28:02 PM
You have 320+ coins and you don't know what a hardware wallet or a paper wallet is, sure i believe that  Roll Eyes
Where do you store these coins currently, under the mattres?
Now that I think about it, and just had a look at OP's last posts. OP being a millionaire who can afford risking buying BTC, seem quite unlikely.

OP take a look here at Trezor: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1298917.0

You can use it with MyCellium on android.   So you get the security of a hardware wallet with mobility of a mobile wallet.
2176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: February 12, 2016, 06:25:42 PM
Cloudmining are no longer profitable nowadays. You won't be able to get your ROI in less than a year anymore and this is due to the ever increasing difficulty brought to us by the manufacturers themselves.

you are right and it is in realy even worth than what you say...

it is why it is better to invest in systems about cloudmining and not in cloudmining it self.

Why?
because a winspiral's site make always a little profit.(lol)

No it's not the amount it's the percentage that makes me say yours paid out to little:

Total invested:0.36640338 BTC
Total payout:0.04682193 BTC

Your talking about paying out 12 percent which is horribly low.  And why people should do research before investing.   You compared yourself to a casino, even casino slots have a better chance then 12 percent.

But for those still looking for cloud mine look at hashnest.   It is the best as of now, and know profit is not guaranteed.
2177  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can't connect avalon 6 miners to the pool. on: February 12, 2016, 06:20:44 PM
Thank you for the replies, i now have 8 miners running. Thanks, it was a problem with a data cable. The other 2 are waiting because i don't have more data cables, need to order more, do you guys know where i can order those cables? What is the name of the cables?

Also, I'm in mybtccoin mining pool, and the hashrate is going up and down. Like from 14 to 38 TH/S, is this normal? It's been like 3 hours with the miners on. I should have 28 TH/S, not sure why it goes all the way up to 38 and all the way down to 14.

Where did you order your miners at?  Normaly it comes with extra.

But I would email BlockC and ask to purchse some.  If does not work hit up Ehash.  Those are two official sellers, and you can also see if anyone on forum  has extra's if that does not work.

Crazy looking at past difficulty. We went from Jan 27, 2015 to Nov 11, 2015 (41.93 percent) with less difficulty change then we will have in this and the last and this difficulty change.

That is just crazy go for almost 2015 with less then these 2 changes.  I just don't know what to think about all this hash.

I might be missing something but with current price of BTC of around 380 and you asking on LBC "Price: 455.52 USD / BTC" .    You send to someone at 21 percent off... but they pay a 17 percent more the current bitcoin price.   So would it not be closer to like 4 percent off currently?

And I might be misunderstanding.
