2161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When did you first hear about Bitcoin? on: April 04, 2015, 01:45:35 PM
When it was $10...
Didn't buy in because I thought I had already missed the bitcoin train.
That same year I got into Gold mining and bought a claim, did good, paid for itself the first year.
A few years later, in 2013, sold my mining claim to buy mining hardware as Mt. Gox was crashing.
Next year, I will be going back to Gold mining but will also have a bitcoin mine.
Today I mine Bitcoin, E-Mark and DigiByte for an investment.

I said it before and I'll said it again, soon enough, Bitcoin will no longer be the Head Honcho of cryptos.
It's the same reason why we no longer use Treasury Notes nor Gold... something more convenient came along.
However, in the crypto sphere, the money supply can't be artificially inflated by over-printing a paper version.
Let's face it, the Foundation never really did much; it's in the hands of companies and people now.
What happened to that show boatin' kid from those Disnee movies?
Oh yeah, got richer by starting Stellar, an anti-Bitcoin-coin... can't mine and backed with fiat.
Who else was there... oh yeah... Mark Kerpeles lol

Get my point?

i have 1 gridseed about 10ghash i put yesterday to mine DigiByte in p2p  http://digihash.co/ , but really give small rewards of 4 coins, can make solo mining with this miner better that join to pool?

Sounds about right regardless... you'll likely never find a block with that little power on your own.
You're about a year too late to the DGB-SHA party; all the big miners left with heaps of coins.
You'd be better off at The Blocks Factory (1.5%) or iSpace.co.uk (no fee) mining with that little hashes.
I'm surprised you get that much, a gridseed's a joke in SHA world now.
Around 6-7 months back I was getting over 20K coins per S1... now it's less than 2K.
If you seed mines Litecoin, you might get more out of that algo.
2164  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: With great power comes a great electricity bill on: April 01, 2015, 09:40:39 PM
Miners are required to verify new transactions; the reward was to get them started.

Having one miner actually do the work (the block winner) and all the other miners (block losers) waste their efforts is the definition of "inefficiency".

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/inefficiency

At first I thought you were ignorant but now I see you're just trolling. You and I arguing about those things we cannot change is also an inefficient use of our time but the beauty of it is that I can change that efficiency.  I'm done. Have fun.  lol Cheesy

I'm done too. There is no point in debating the obvious.  Cheesy

It's you who's fucking clueless man!!  Listen to a REAL miner, a guy who mines precious metals and gems.
Bitcoin was modeled after Gold mining, which, is an inneficient occupation, I know, I mine Gold along with SHA256.
What gold miners do is always improve their rigs to get the most yield for the least expenses...
At the end of the day, it's not who brings in the most loot, it's who bring home the most pay.
Yeah, I own two profitable mines, you??  Exactly, keep listening.

Gold's intrinsic value is around $20 but our fiat monetary system is based on gold reserves.
I guess only a few of us know Ft. Knox is virtually empty and its contents live in China and India now?
Today, Gold gets its value because, well, it's pretty, it's the best metal for electric connectors and used as a fiat hedge.
It also gets is origins traced all the way back to the bible and is always a sign of nobility.
The cost of commercial gold mining is also quite high... without the high price of Gold, miners wouldn't mine it and monetary system would collapse... I don't think most people know just how fragile it is.
A commercial gold mine runs at least $1,000 a day in... being conservative.
This would also put a lot of people out of work, if Gold tanked to below $1,000... for a while it did.
In those times, it's the small prospectors who make the most because their costs are much lower to begin with.

Guess what, you can mine gold for years and never find a smidgeon of Gold... that is the risk factor my friend.
At least mining Bitcoin, unless you mine solo, you're getting pay.
However, pooled mining is the equivalent of mining placer top gravel; a paycheck.
If you want to hit it big, one needs to either bet on an alts or gamble their power on solo.
Betting on solo with less than 100TH/s... THAT is a waste because you'll never get your $'s worth.
Even pools with around 1PH/s struggle getting one block every 3 days; the equivalent of mining Gold dusts compared to nuggets a century ago.

One just doesn't go dig a hole in the ground and expect to get rich in one season, it takes a lot of investment and dedication.
Those who think they do, well, they all talk and are all one hit wonder and never come back.
Besides, hardware double in efficiency every year, you're like when Edison tried to discredit Tesla by saying it's not as safe.
By failing to mention that Tesla Power could travel great distances and retain its charge much longer.

Pure life experience always trumps armchair know-it-fuck-alls.  Grin
If you get your money's worth it's not waste because you get what you pay for. #Capitalism

Be careful with Cryptsy. Cryptsy, although being 'headquartered' in Florida, is not a U.S. based company. It is based in Belize. I know I have highly recommended Cryptsy in the past, but I was missing this "small" detail. I still recommend Cryptsy, but I use Bittrex indistinctly and can say that the product and service are certainly on par. Either way, as I've always said, be very careful with any funds you have in the hands of third parties online.

You are missing one critical piece of information I'm afraid but not so evident.
Belize is a tax haven for many Americans and companies... so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion yet.
They also aren't bound to bend over for American laws since it's a foreign corporation.
Many companies put their assets under tax havens like Panama but in thsi case, Cryptsy would Incorporate in Belize to evade the Patriot Act also.

Why digibyte is so popular?
Welcome lolcaupet,
Why is Digibyte so popular?
Well Digibyte has proven to be a legit coin and helped out allot of others including Dogecoin.
The creator/dev of Digibyte (Jared Tate) is working 24/7 on improving Digibyte and everything around this, always transparant and dedicated about everything they do and have a very strong communication with the community.
The community is strong and open for everything and everyone and growing every day.

Check out www.Digibyte.co and you might want to read this news article.
http://www.coindesk.com/digibyte-raises-250k-altcoin-retail-payments/

And thanks to Gigabit:
Everyone will say their coin is undervalued, heck I am sure the PayCoin folk are saying that too  Grin

I have been a professional SHA miner for about 2 years now and mined them all.
Anything form MZC to DGC, from TEK to DEM, I mined them all.
Only coin that is at 100,000 times undervalued is DigiByte.
DigitalCoin, I like their wallet but that's pretty much it.
Lately, trades have nearly halted on Cryptsy.... one investor bought BTC10.0 worth of DGB's though! Wink

Here's a few awesome features:
  • It'll be the fastest coin @15 seconds - Next Update Wallet 4.0 - DigiSpeed - Currently 30 secs
  • The creator of DigiShield - used by other coins for their security
  • Can be mined by nearly any algo
  • Received a $250K investment towards opening new offices
  • Focused into becoming the PayPal of cryptos.
  • Is extremely active within the BitcoinTalk community
  • Consistently delivers results and new features
  • Active developers (Jared Tate)
  • Community of enthusiastic and talented people who drive towards the coin's success
  • Has its own tipping app
  • Has a large supply meant to easily adapt to an increasingly large audience (1,000x more than Bitcoin)
  • Only a little over a year old.
  • Have a deal with retailer TofuGear Hong Kong

Get yours whilst they are cheap at around 65 sats right now; but please, go read the thread, many miners have converted entirely to DGB.
Some even no longer even own nor mine any Bitcoin!
Go read the thread, it's the largest next to Dark.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.0

The OP is enlightening if you never went Wink

Why, thank you sir!!  Cool

Is it still profitable to mine dgb now ? I mean with qubit scrypt and 3 graphic cards 280 TRIX, I can reach 15 MH/s of power on a pool so around 3750 dgb/day = 0.62 euro Smiley Energy costs more Smiley
So it's only a gamble on the future of dgb isn't it?

well it is better to gamble on coins which is still around after 1 year

Yes of course, just to be sure that all miners with graphics cards understood the same thing than me (I just began again mining after 10 months of stop).

I've been gambling my free SHA power for a long time now; started mining @ BTC0.00000004...
When price tanked, I started to power it up, felt bad for it and was making absurd amount of coints...
Then did my research and yeah, been mining since Smiley

Hey guys and girls we have a common goal.
but this has begun to be a health hazard, I use my retirement pension to buy DigiByte lol and no beer

I could not stop answering this.

Great decision you made investing in DGB! But the money you used to invest is not a great idea, at all.

Nothing is certain about digital currencies.. The next day you may just lose whatever you invested in.
This is not only for DGB, but also for the rest of all digital currencies...

The classic expression, only invest the amount you can afford to lose.

Well said, risking your life savings on a speculative curency is not very smart investing.
A smarter investor would have split 1/1/1 between Bitcoin, DigiByte and Gold.
However, I won't be last to say that risking on DigiByte's a much smarter investment than buying a one weekend booze party.
One you at least have something to show for it, the other, a few pictures and very possibly a lot of regret and deceptions.
Props to you brother, I never thought that, what was one but my failover become such a passion not only for myself but for so many others.

My hat goes off to the devs for making DGB the fastest coin on the cryptosphere.

All coin holders believe what they are holding are underpriced.  Should be xxxx sat etc is what they always say.  Best tech etc etc.  But what really matters are marketing.  There are hundreds of coins that are already better than btc but still doest succeed.  Why? They cant sell their coin tech to the world. Marketing is vital.  Doge sucks but with just the popularity of the effin dog they are in a good spot.

In the end, it's the miners and early investors who need to do most of the marketing since they have most of the coin.  It's hard to do promotional work when you don't have the coin control others do.  Eventually, when more services come on board, the more it will be appealing for professional internet marketers to promote and that's where word will get out.  DigiByte has Digiman Smiley

Buy from the manufacturer directly.

Other than that, buying used on eBay can save heaps.

Good fucking luck getting anything, you're an idiot to them; doubly true if you buy into Hashnest.

Here's the Top Ten how to deal with Bitmain:

1- Order the miner, you will receive it, they're good at shipping and making miners, I give them that... never had big issues myself.
2- Start the miner, if all goes well, carry on, if not troubleshoot, most of the time it's the ECB.
3- If something fails, MacGyver something to last until you get a new part... unfortunately, Bitmain makes their own ECB's. #LackOfOptions
4- If you need parts, they won't send them on your own, they will ask when your next order is.
5- That's a trap, they don't always do what you ask them, regardless how many times you say nor how desperate you are to get it.
6- Always assume worst case scenario, be prepared, buy additional parts like wires; harass them to get spare ECB, they won't send spare ECB unless you tell them you have an OOW miner but tell them to only send you a payment address and cost; otherwise you'll wait a week+ just to get an order.
7- MacGuyver as much as possible... don't wait for Bitmain, picture that you're dealing with a donkey... that's how they see you.
8- Read 7 again, it's what makes and breaks miners!!
9- Assume they understood absolutely nothing of what you asked; also assume they outright ignored you.
10- If they say "No Worries" BE EXTREMELY WORRIED!!!!  They lie without remorse and won't even admit their lies, then eventually ignore you.

They're probably the most idiotic company I do deal with, I still buy from them but never talk to them anymore since it's an über waste of time, I can fix their shit like no one's business.  Again, remember the donkey... never forget the donkey.  They make good miners but not much else.
2172  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: starting a small farm, should I get s5? on: March 17, 2015, 12:59:10 AM
If you buy now, you run the risk to never ROI, the 28Nn process is becoming old news.

Wait for the new processes to come out sometime in 2015...

Holy smokes!  I'm gonna have to hire someone just to keep up with this thread!  Cool

Been neglecting it but RL is keeping my busy but still mining away.

Gold mining season just around the corner so my PC time is limited.

Amazing work on that tip app, bravo!  Didn't try it myself but how many other coins have that?

--

That said, how many Byters would like to have a simple, promotional game for DigiByte?  Just 2D, nothing drastic... at first.

I think it would be a good way to get the word out... I think it's been discussed a few times (and with Jared) but just been so busy.

Until now, I will have free time I can donate to DGB in the next few months.

The coding and story telling, I can handle but the graphics, I can't... if it wasn't for a keyboard, no one could read my writing; forget pictures.

If someone is a good graphic designer who wants to donate their time and skill, PM and let's build a game!

Nothing drastic, mostly sprite drawing, that is, a picture taken from every angle (Front, back, left, right, left leg up, right leg up, etc)

Also, if some are good in cinematography or video editing then I could use those skills too.

The idea is to build a trilogy, the more successful the game, the more powerful features I can add in future versions.

I'm still very busy so if anyone is interested in being part in the game, PM me; if any want to donate to the project, the more features I can implement.

This is on a "As Time Permits" basis for me since it's intended to be a giveaway/educational game.

Anyone want in?  If enough show interest, we can go start our own group.

Where can I find that richlist ? ( ps, 10 BTC wall is on Cryptsy already at 62 Sat )

I didn't mean a literal, linked rich list like some other coins have.
However, doesn't mean a rich list doesn't exist... I meant, as implied.
Most know there currently isn't a rich list one can view, I wasn't implying there was one either, don't put words in my mouth I never said  Angry
Surely an order of this size would earn them a seat among the top Digi holders.
I'm sure we could make one from users in this thread alone.
One with more than a few million coins I would say would be is on the rich list.
Especially now, since it's so much harder to mine and buy for cheap.
Rich list starts at big cash investors, then followed by larger, vested miners.
There's a few who are over 100M (Early Adopters)
There's also a bunch over 10M (Second Wave)
Many are around 1M (New Wave)

It's like the world financial elite, just because you never see them, doesn't mean they don't exist.

That's not a small buy order lol

You're going to have a hard time filling that in here bud, miners wallets are tight.

Best thing for you to do is put it on Cryptsy and buy all the way up, your investment will have already gained in value and give it momentum.

Plus you'll buy a ticket to the richlist overnight  Roll Eyes

Is it worth to start mining now?

How do I answer this in as little words as possible....

Only if the following applies to you:
-If you have an adequate fire extinguisher and alarm system.
-If you have free power
-If you gladly pay for all your power out of pocket only to bag coin for future sales
-If you have anything of $0.01 / KW.h and under
-If you have great knowledge of the offline mining industry
-If you have great knowledge of computers and technology
-If you're not lazy
-If you have a good operating credit line
-If you have have substantial upfront investment
-If you have a solid mining plan
-If you have place to host your really stinking hot bunch of computers
-If you have adequate ventilation and/or air-conditioning

This is to name probably to name the most important ones but if you have ALL the above you will do fine  Grin
