Not sure what more I can do to help you mate. I don't know why your wallet is segfaulting but I'm fairly certain its due to your setup. I also run virtualbox and don't experience your problem but maybe you could try and compile another coin thats on the 0.9 codebase (e.g MyriadCoin) and see if you can run get their QT wallet running. If you can't then I'll do a fresh install of virtualbox to see if I can replicate your problem.

Remember, the "prefab" digibyte-qt downloadable from www.digibyte.co in the ZIP file at http://www.digibyte.co/sites/digibyte.co/files/DigiByte-3.0.3-ubuntu-64bit.zip DOES NOT GENERATE THESE SAME ERRORS when run on the same system with no modifications.

That means that it is highly unlikely to be a VituralBox issue, and is rather an issue limited to this particular compile itself.

If you can do a fresh install and some of your own testing to match, that would be great. I've got another VirtualBox install where I'm going to test as well. On the other hand, I share your frustration and can understand if you have more important things to do. I'm not going to spend my entire Easter Weekend compiling a DGB wallet either! Next week it's back to work, and like it or not, I won't have time to "play" again until next summer.

The prefab Digibyte-qt works better (or just as well anyway, and with a lot less effort) than the version I compiled, which works fine after generating the initialization errors by the way, so perhaps we might just leave things as they are until someone more appropriate, like someone on DigiByte "permanent staff", addresses the need to improve the Ubuntu DigiByte-qt.

I thought this might be something doable and fun for the hobbyist, but I've been proven wrong. Time to make due with what we've got and wait until the Devs give us something better, more than anything, because I'm out of time.

Thanks for your helping hand. I was fun and I learned a lot!

When is the mastercard hard fork coming?

 Wink

when till the v4.0 source code become available and when will it be required for pool owners to have switched over?

thanks in advance.

We have not set a specific block height or date yet. Ideally within the next 6-8 weeks. We will make an announcement in the next week or two with the specifics. We are still implementing the code and testing builds.

When is the mastercard hard fork coming?

what is the mastercard hard fork?

Introducing ★★DigiSpeed★★ Hard Fork

What is DigiSpeed Hard Fork v. 4.0?

DigiSpeed will allow DigiByte to match Visa in transaction carrying capacity!

1) DigiByte block timing will increase from 30 seconds to 15 seconds.
2) DigiByte block size will increase from 1 MB to 10 MB initially, with built in future increases.
3) Custom block propagation code based upon Microsoft research will dramatically increase network efficiency.
4) DigiByte transaction capacity will increase from 140 TPS to 5800 TPS (Visa averages 1736 TPS).
5) DigiByte reward will stay on track for 21 Billion DGB in 21 Years.
6) MultiShield will be improved even more to allow for even greater security (90% of 1 of DGB's 5 mining algos, plus 51% of others will be required for an attack) making MultiShield even more secure.

These changes will make DigiByte the most secure, fastest and largest transaction carrying-capacity, decentralized, POW cryptocurrency in existence.

We have already been busy the past two months behind the scenes, researching, studying and analyzing if it would be possible to expand the DigiByte network to be able to handle the average daily volume Visa handles and make these changes. We are now confident it can be done.

Please give us feedback & let us know how you can help us test these changes and prepare for the hard fork! We would love to work with others devs, including the Bitcoin core devs!

Hey is it possible to have a username tied to an address?  I think adoption is going to be much easier for new guys to cryptos.  If you show how cryptos work to teens or adults who are just average on technology,  sending or receiving is a hassle or even complicated for some.  It would be easier if you can make a username or some sort. Withrawing from bittrex and just typing vince232 as your wallet is easier.

Tested against digibyte-master on another Ubuntu installation with the same results. Just a bunch of annoying errors in Terminal on startup.

libprotoc-dev is not necessary BTW.

Going to finish up by timing the complete sync time of this 'custom' compile, and then call it a day.

Thanks again.

I said it before and I'll said it again, soon enough, Bitcoin will no longer be the Head Honcho of cryptos.
It's the same reason why we no longer use Treasury Notes nor Gold... something more convenient came along.
However, in the crypto sphere, the money supply can't be artificially inflated by over-printing a paper version.
Let's face it, the Foundation never really did much; it's in the hands of companies and people now.
What happened to that show boatin' kid from those Disnee movies?
Oh yeah, got richer by starting Stellar, an anti-Bitcoin-coin... can't mine and backed with fiat.
Who else was there... oh yeah... Mark Kerpeles lol

im trying to start solo mining with sha256 but in this step cant change it on properties, not accept be renamed ... say its not valid name for target

Create a shortcut of your DigiByte wallet, right click, click properties append --server to the end of the TARGET line
(Example: C:\Users\User\Wallets\DigiByte\digibyte-qt.exe --server)
Save it and run your DigiByte Wallet as a server using that newly created shortcut.

Bitcoin will still be the head for a long time however litecoin will be the next to fall. The only thing keeping litecoin up is early status but eventually it will be like feathercoin and just start going downhill. A lot of the litecoin investment will spread across into other altcoins on the way down.

I suspect a lot will go back into bitcoin and stay there, some might move into Dash which is clearly the top anonymous coin. Digibyte will also be a coin that perhaps 1-5% of the litecoin marketcap will move into. Right now Digibyte might be the leader in mainstream alt coins, most of the other innovation is all going into anon coins like Dash and shadowcoin.

Guldencoin has also got in a new developer called MaNI who has already introduced 2 innovations into PND but PND founders ended up being scammers. So will see where that goes.
My prediction:
When Bitcoins value falls to $1  a single DigiByte will be worth $10 and this is going to happen just as soon as everyone wakes up and smells the coffee.  Grin
