I'm sure it has been mentioned many times in this thread, but at over 1000 pages isn't exactly easy to find. But can someone point me to a masternode setup guide? What is needed exactly and how is it setup?

I need baby-level instructions, or at least some instructions. Thanks.
2162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: May 26, 2014, 03:58:28 PM
For better or for worse we wouldn't keep anything closed source, it goes against the whole spirit of crypto (besides the fact open-source got us here in the first place) but even more importantly from a realist perspective any closed-source service or wallet dealing with money of any amount simply would not be trusted.

One way around that, sort of, which was discussed in the Drk coin thread early on, is to have a trusted 3rd party audit the code. Finding a trusted 3rd party, and if that would be good enough, is a question though.

For systems that are truly unique, a coin does sort of need to be closed source, at least to start with, or P&D clones will just kill whatever is unique about the coin. And probably do a poor job of implementing the 'unique system' to begin with.

But I agree about the forking thing. You can't hardfork Noble repeatedly, trying to catch the latest fad. The partner coin idea could potentially work. One problem is the fact that people may not really care about any features really. They say they do, but in reality all they could be doing is jumping from one pump and dump to the next, using new features as a context for the pump. It's the same reason why pumps quite often occur on the flimsiest of coin news -- listed in coin market cap, listed on new exchange, listed in some obscure article that nobody will read anyway, nation coin does airdrop, etc. It's just a reason for a pump, so people may not care so much about whatever feature is in fad right now ... it's just a way to make money. Exceptions would be things that are truly unique and serve a purpose, perhaps anonymity, true anonymity, coins like Ethereum or MadeSafe (in theory), that sort of thing.

One thing that could help Noble, and for all I know has been implemented and I missed it, is to incorporate the marketplace into the wallet, as well as have it set up for both android and ios. If you have discounts or marketplace news, it can then appear as a popup in the wallet itself. It's one way to get the marketplace more attention and be a bit more unique than other coins.

I am pretty sure the Dev has completed several tasks he said he would for this coin so far.
- Exchange (COMPLETE)
- Mac Wallet (COMPLETE)
- Block explorer (COMPLETE)

Price is on the move.

If you own this coin maybe you should help out instead of complaining.
If you are not helping then leave.

Standard FUD just like with XBC coin before it went up 45 fold.
Many who complained about XBC sure stopped fast when their IPO investment went up and they made a ton.

So while some of you (many who do not even own this coin) keep crying I will be trading XLC and holding it for the foreseeable future.

I disagree. FUD is when people make up outrageous statements. XLC wallet has a virus in it! The dev is holding 2 million XLC, ready to dump! Stuff that doesn't even make sense.

People here are rightfully just wondering if the dev will repeat history and walk away from the coin. And also wondering about his past statements in regard to delays. That's not FUD, just general talk. People can be objective about coins, even coins they own. They don't all have to be in coin hype mode (just as dangerous and annoying as trolling to me).

XBC was weird in that there was FUD, but quite often it appeared to be more for price manipulation than any other purpose. That's the logical reason for trolls, after a pump or price rise, to buy back in cheap, wait for rise again, and repeat process. So far, there has been little reason for trolling, as there hasn't been a price rise yet with XLC.
2164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / Multipool / Bounties on: May 26, 2014, 03:46:48 AM
ok transferred my 100 xbc from poloniex to my new wallet ...
received fine ... now how long till coins are mature enough to stake?

30 days the need to incubate then they hatch XBC babies..Good luck.. Grin

ok thank you sir
down 40% today ...
im so depressed ...
tell Groundbeeftaxi to go pump xbc

A bit odd that it's gone down. I thought it'd stabilize around .015.

Then again, until the coin gets to a bigger exchange, I'm not sure it will stabilize so much. Remember before all the wallet hubbub, we played the .01 to .02 game for a while, with rounds of trolls bringing the price down, and then it moving back up... then repeating several times... way to double profit. I'm curious if that will continue while it's solely on poloniex. I'd also think people would stock up before it gets to a bigger exchange, as that is when we usually see at least some upwards movement.

Unfortunately, as much as I want to spend my Noble to help keep it circulating, I don't have a use for gift cards right now. However, as soon as gold and silver is sold for Noble I'll be very interested! Mining and buying Noble in preparation for spending millions of Noble on precious metals.

I'm almost hesitant to mention it, as people may gobble up all the amazon cards before I even get any. But you do know that amazon sells gold/silver coins, right? They sell basically everything. I'm not sure how their prices are, but at 20-30% off, I expect they'd be profitable.
2166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BITTREX.COM] LitecoinPlus (XLC) / fast / green / bounties on: May 26, 2014, 03:21:46 AM

The problem with that is he might not even be on the XBC dev team anymore and if that is the case, his actions on this thread and XLC are a bit sketchy. Doesn't do much for investor confidence.

According to what was said by others, no, he's not on the XBC dev team. He hasn't been involved with XBC in some time now really, at least in a direct way.

I assumed everyone knew this from the start. jiapetz  provided a detailed explanation, but his post was deleted.

The only thing I had an issue with was the dev implying that the xbc wallet was the reason for a lack of dev activity here. He has no direct involvement with the xbc wallet, isn't on the xbc team, and certainly didn't code the new wallet. So I was confused as to what he even meant.

And his actions on this thread are already sketchy, due to him deleting posts. That, and unusually long periods of silence from him.
2167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BITTREX.COM] LitecoinPlus (XLC) / fast / green / bounties on: May 26, 2014, 02:34:28 AM

There's only one person with mod access to this thread.

I gave a long explanation of story, and along with everyone's concerns, that was deleted as well.

No rebuttal or responses or updates for you guys, just deletion.

Yeah, and I honestly don't even get it. It's not like anyone said anything overly negative about the coin or dev... simply that the delay in things couldn't have been due to the xlc dev working on the xbc wallet.

If he simply replied and said the delay was a courtesy to xbc, until they got their wallet problems sorted out, I think it would have been fine. Deleting everyone's posts for no sensible reason makes the dev look even worse than he already does. Strange.
2168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BITTREX.COM] LitecoinPlus (XLC) / fast / green / bounties on: May 25, 2014, 11:55:51 PM
Im holding just because I feel this has the same future as XBC. The dev will step aside and hand it over to another dev, maybe the same one working on XBC now. I just see XBC and XLC coexisting together, like how BTC and LTC have been over the last few months.

I wouldn't expect anyone holding to speak too negatively, and yeah, at these prices, might as well hold if you bought at ipo or higher prices. I'm still holding a small amount, but it's not so much that it'd make a big difference to me.

I'm not so sure about the XBC/XLC coexisting part exactly... yeah, they both can 'exist', but no idea what one will have to do with another.  And I can't speak for anyone on the XBC team, but I see no logical reason for them to also take over XLC.
2169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BITTREX.COM] LitecoinPlus (XLC) / fast / green / bounties on: May 25, 2014, 11:45:02 PM
i can understand that the dev might want to keep certain things out of the thread... ok fine
But when I ask what are the plans for this coin and what sort of features we should be expecting, and that gets ignored/deleted that is pretty bad..

Yes, for some things this may be valid. But when the dev is spreading completely false information, it should not go unnoticed or uncommented. To delete such posts without offering a rebuttal (which in this case is basically impossible; I know my facts here) should be a warning sign to all who have invested or an considering investing in the work produced by this dev. Enough said, I'll shut up now. Draw your own conclusions.

Ah,  I see my comments were deleted too. I thought I was pretty fair with my questions, simply asking why the xbc wallet would affect xlc's schedule. I'm hardly the troll-sort.

An XBC member even posted here, clearing things up. And his entire post was removed.

And I'm glad I didn't get much xlc, and already sold enough to give me a tiny profit. I don't mind moderation when they go around deleting obvious trolls, but I read the comments that were deleted... nothing was that bad. It's a terrible sign when a dev does that.

Value is very low at the moment. I bought over 4.5m Noblecoins today on Mintpal.

Considering the low value the BTC volume of 25.9 over the last 24 hours is quite impressive. I do wonder if people are preparing for another pump, a lot of Noble has been changing hands lately...

Stocked up on a very small amount, but will hold off on any more for now. Every time I think I got a good price, the price seems to go lower. I am curious as to why, unless it's miners dumping or something.
2171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / Multipool / Bounties on: May 25, 2014, 07:03:54 PM
Now that the wallet is out, what are the next steps planned?

Coinpayments/Moolah voting?
MP voting?

Due to recent volume, have Cryptsy/MP considered taking the coin regardless?

I assume merchants and such are already in the works, but that is more of a thing for the project team.
2172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: May 25, 2014, 06:40:41 PM
wonder at what % people start buying! as the daily amount is cappes, a race for discount might start suddenly Cheesy

It might kick in at 20%+ It depends on how much folks want to order. Also depends a lot on how many even know about it.

One thing I was wondering about, and would be a question for the dev in regard to the freebie partner coin idea.

If the marketplace discounts are meant as a way for folks to gain interest in Noble, yet the partner coins are distributed based on the amount of noble held... aren't these two ideas contradictory in a way?

People would logically be less likely to spend their Noble at the marketplace if they are given freebie (or swapped) partner coins based on the amount of Noble they are holding. They'll lose out on freebie partner coins if they spend them.

This won't matter if folks simply buy noble the day of their marketplace purchase, but it may mean less people who have stocked up on noble would be willing to take part in the discount. It's basically trading a 30% discount for free coins. If folks have enough money, of course they could just do a bit of both... just not sure if people will think that way.

2173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: May 24, 2014, 11:56:07 PM

CoinPayments doesn't autosell, it gets passed to us to sell if/when we need it. We're pre-prepared which means we don't immediately sell it, we tend to hold.

People can play it safe and wait until the deal is at a level they want and will get us attention, that's the point we want to naturally reach and find out. At that point they'll buy NOBL or use their current holdings, it gets passed to us, we hold it, and determine how much we can handle at that rate.

Personally I don't feel too many people are interested in the marketplace discount though, many still just speculate and hold. We're a bit ahead of ourselves with using crypto so strongly as a currency. The key thing we wanted to do with this promo. was draw more* eyes to NOBL, the marketplace and its future potential when investors/buyers realise this won't be the last deal accommodated there.

That's also why we'll reduce the sale by 1% a day to a level we can handle, so there isn't some huge dump or rush to the exits when people consider the deal over.

That makes more sense then, in regard to coinpayments. Otherwise it might be a situation where too many marketplace buyers inadvertently lower the price of noble.

As for the discount, I think a better gauge will be when you are near the max level. I mean, it's sort of like commonsense from a consumer standpoint. A store mentions a sale of 30% off in two weeks, people won't go and buy stuff for a lower discount right now. But I expect you are right in regard to the regular discount. Most people here aren't into using crypto as a currency, strangely enough. Many coins don't even pretend to ever be used as a currency. The  pump and dump mindset overall is way too prevalent among crypto people... their main goal is to get in and out, cash their money, and don't think about ever actually ever using any coin. I guess one roadblock to that is the giant price fluctuations present in crypto overall... nobody want to be the guy who purchases 2 pizzas and a year later finds out he just spent a small (or in btc's case, large) fortune on them.

For myself, I think it'll be a quick and easy way to take a small amount of profit, assuming you have profit to cash out. Instead of coinbase/banks and all that, just convert coin to amazon gcs, which to me is basically the same as real money. If you have goods on the site I want, possibly even better.

New site does look pretty good. I'm not sure if it's there and I missed it, but eventually you should put a little merchant section too ... right now I guess you have that coffee guy + apparel?
2175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 24, 2014, 08:22:09 PM

I have been very bullish on other coins which are not obvious. Like Potcoin. I believe Potcoin is going to rule the world of medical marijuana trading in the next few years. Why? Because there is not a dispensory oprator who can get a bank account (because of Operation Chokepoint) and they have to deal in cash, store cash and it's dangerous. Potcoin is an obvious thing and I have mined and bought many... Before this week, Potcoin had been dying a slow death for lack of activity for many months. This week, the developers are implementing new features and modernizing the coin. Now it's taking off. (ETA: Potcoin would have to grow to accommodate up to $8 billion in Market Cap in 4 years to do this, I am not sure it can do it alone!!)

When Potcoin came out, there wasn't a new copy-paste scrypt coin coming out every 12 hours. When Québecoin came out, there wasn't a new X11 coming out everyday.

I think Québecoin is in the same boat.
The pre-mine and distribution model (far away in time) sort of haunts it.
Or maybe it also prevents it from being stripped mined, manipulated and dumped.

Québecoin can exist as a currency everybody hates but French Canadians love (The Reverse Celine Dion principle (Sorry Céline!!)) because they are in their own cultural bubble that loves self-referral Smiley

Unpaid people will always move at their own pace!

Marie-Lynn

I haven't kept track of the pot related coins, although do agree that crypto would make sense for them. But I don't know what advantages a pot-named coin (or features, I should say) they have over say bitcoin, or probably better yet, something like darkcoin or an anonymous coin, may have.

The short term risk for quebecoin is simply getting delisted. Bittrex has upped its delisting schedule, by the way, and I believe they plan it weekly now. Quebecoin missed the cut, this week. They have stated a coin needs to be at .1 btc daily for it to make financial sense -- today QBC is at .05 btc. Unless the dev becomes more active, gets the coin on more exchanges, I wouldn't think it very safe.
2176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is that it for Darkcoin? on: May 24, 2014, 05:43:07 PM
Not sure if the OP was trolling or serious... doesn't really matter, but bizarre either way.

I am wondering something, as I wasn't about during the time during btc's rise (not saying Drk will mimic it, just curious). Were people like this when btc started to go up... crash... rise again... crash again, and so on?

I just find it peculiar how there are people who seem to believe a coin will go up in a straight line until it reaches some astronomical height, yet don't take into account no coin has ever done that, including btc. I am speaking in generalities, not just related to Drk or this thread.
2177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: May 24, 2014, 05:38:08 PM
So it feels a little odd making sure we do this formally about the marketplace:

Nothing to report. No sales, people holding out to see how high it goes. We'll start with $1,500 worth of orders and move it up swiftly. 100% chance of it being 14% tomorrow.

In the meantime the second tier Marketplace is gearing up to be ready. Should be good by end of month, with merchant and bidding sections public but in testing. Still waiting on gold/silver but it is a go. GPUs, TigerDirect, bullion accesories & KNCMiner gear is also going to be added. Will be 'linking' in with any other merchant who would like all their products listed by us on the marketplace, to make it easier to browse and order anything you can buy in NOBL in one spot and at discount (Marketplace). Steps on the new platform will follow shortly.

Are you saying anything at all from TigerDirect, or just selected items, i.e. giftcards (if they have them)?

And yeah, people will wait. I don't see people really ordering much until you get near the high point of 30%ish. I mean, as a customer, why would you?
2178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: May 24, 2014, 05:34:13 PM

I also have the nobl coin also...... but I don't know the nobl coin value exactly.....

If the current value is so low and it should be trading at 150 satosh.....why don't you buy now at 34, 35, 36, 37.........

The point is that nobody want to buy the nobl coin at present price .......and they are shouting the price is cheap.....something nonsense....

The pricing is something I'm a little confused about.

Assume we stock up on Noble for the main goal of spending at the marketplace when the discount is highest. When coinpayments converts it to btc during the purchase, will that negatively affect the price at the time, due to people in effect 'selling' their noble?

If a person simply wants noble for the discount and wants to play it completely safe, the time to buy would be the day they wish to make a purchase -- guaranteed discount that way. The coin would be unlikely to crash or rise a whole lot during that short time period.

Buying now makes sense if you believe people will stock up on Noble, to cash out later on, as the price should slowly rise as more people become interested. It's a question of how many are interested in the market discount though, or how many are simply speculating on the price overall. I also wonder what happens after the 'high discount' period is over ... will Noble then lose value?

i don`t think people who farm a large amount of qbc are willing to sell at these prices, this is just my opinion

I pool mine and my ex-husband solo mines QBC with good results. I think QBC is a stealthy investment for now. X11 is a good technology for the future and QBC is flying under the radar. Maybe it's not a 10,000% investment opportunity, but for someone like me who is in the intended user group geographically, it is fun to follow it. I buy everyday but I am also a very small fish Smiley

In a way, I applaud your enthusiasm  -- in the way I admire people who believe in something and are enthusiastic about it -- yet at the same time I don't really understand it.

I know it's not just me who thinks this, but the dev's activity, or lack thereof, should be a major concern. He is simply working on a different timetable than the rest of the cryptoworld. And that assumes the best case scenario.

This android wallet and multipool has taken what now, weeks and weeks? The android wallet should have been started when the coin was announced during the ipo, anyway. So it's not like it's a brand new concept he had to whip up over a weekend. I also don't see it making a ton of difference anyway... plenty of coins have android wallets and it's not like it really matters a whole lot to the coin.

Has anyone received their syrups yet?

Has there been the slightest effort to get the coin on other exchanges?

So, I don't get the reason for being that optimistic about the coin. I don't want this to sound like fud or trolling, so won't tell anyone not to buy or mine any coin they like. But I suggest you may wish to diversify a bit and look at other coins more too.
2180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is that it for Darkcoin? on: May 23, 2014, 09:42:42 PM
I just want to know. I saw this thing happening, and I went for it, its my first big trade, I put everything I had, my whole savings into. I bought it too late because I was scared. But it kept growing. I bought at .0269, it barely got any higher, then it started to drop. I feel like such a fool. I thought this was the answer to my prayers. I have a baby daughter and a wife. I blew it. Darkcoin f**ked me. I don't know what to do now, I'm still holding my coins. I feel I need to vomit.
 Sad

How much did you invest?

And as stated, only put as much into crypto as you are willing to lose.

An obvious tip, that others pointed out, don't jump in on a coin rise unless you are very sure you aren't getting in near the top.  The safe way to go is to just avoid pumps if you don't already own said coin.

That said, you really are getting upset because the coin went down 10%? If so, cryptos definitely are not for you. Prices don't move in a straight line... it may go down by half tomorrow, and a month from now be triple. Nobody knows. I expect Drk to go up over time, but up until recently it's been a real slow mover. It may stabilize at a lower level and the price will be stagnant for months at a time. Or tomorrow it will go up 50%.

The only thing I can suggest is if you invested enough for several thousand Drk, sell off enough where you feel comfortable with the investment, and use the rest for masternodes.
